Bat Behemoth (2) - Construction, deforestation, typical Destiny City mishaps–you never know what you’re going to get around here. It starts with a squeak in the sky, and the flapping of heavy wings. If it’s dark enough, maybe you don’t even see the giant bat descending on you. They were pests a few years ago but seemed to have cleared out for the most part–except for a stray one here or there. This one is large even by comparison. It has an eight foot wingspan–a behemoth, growing fat and large in the years since the bats last descended on Destiny City. Maybe you’re lucky, maybe it just swoops by.
Maybe it’s hungry, or mad, and you look like a prime target. If it attacks, you’re in for a rough time. Scratches cause an itch that might last for up to a day, but the bites are the worst. Being bitten by these bats leaves two small marks that will itch for a few hours. Then, exhaustion and fatigue sets in and you become extremely sensitive to external stimulus; skin feels like it becomes overheated in sunlight, bright lights are painful to the eyes, and smells and sounds can seem overwhelming. The victim will feel constantly cold and hungry, no matter how much they eat or drink. They may also be prone to agitation and bouts of violence. These afflictions may last only a few hours or a few days and then suddenly disappear.
(Being attacked by the bat can be counted as a battle once per character provided there are at least two powered characters involved; no matter how much you seem to damage the bat, it will always fly away and hardly even seems worse for the wear. You cannot track it or severely damage it. This prompt can be used for the battle or the afterwards of being attacked, or anything else you might be inspired to play!)
Well, she was still here so that turned out better than it could have. She was probably pushing her luck, she knew, not that knowing stopped her.
Tonight she was at a park, enjoying the weather and the scenery more than actually patrolling. Her white, wispy sidekick was floating just over her shoulder, as ever a warm, comfy presence amidst the chill of the night. She didn’t sense any chaos nearby, which was naturally a good thing, so she was relaxed and in a rather good mood.
That is until she heard something. It sounded like…
“Flapping?” she finished saying out loud. Just as she said it she felt something closing in on her from behind so she ducked on instinct and, when she sighted the gargantuan bat as it swooped just overhead, she let out a blood-curdling scream.

Vela was out and about when she heard a scream she didn't really think about it she just ran towards the sound and saw a knight running from a giant bat, that was something she hadn't seen before. She cast her Dance of flames to get the bat to hesitate long enough for the knight to get some distrance between the two of them. Based on what she was sensing they likely shouldn't have been out here alone anyway and she was half tempted to give them a lecture but Vela had been pretty reckless when she was a corrupt senshi so she thought better of telling off someone else about their behavior. She figured this wasn't a youma it didn't feel like one, so it was just a matter of beating it up till it backed off and they could get out of here. She called over to the knight as she watched the bat feel the burning embers on it's fur. "Are you alright?" She called. She also figured that if the bat had to go anywhere it was better for it to come at her instead of hurting the young knight. She was ready to punch the bat if it got close enough. Dance of flames Vela dances faster around the flames making them burn higher and hotter than before. Sending hotter embers down on her enemies. The burns hurt more than before. 10 ft range (Lasts 45 sec.) (Twice per battle) (Only feels like burning)

Ekstrom felt the bat coming after her as she did her best to run away. It was too big to try and swat away with her pan, and honestly she was a little too freaked out by the giant thing to think straight for the moment. So she just ran until, to her relief, she felt an Order signature nearby. Shortler after sensing it, she felt a sudden warmth behind her and the distinct sense of the space between and the bat growing.
Bless.
She hurried over to the senshi and breathlessly nodded first. “Fine," she said when she felt comfortable enough to speak. "Just…not used to giant animals attacking me yet, I guess. I’m new so correct me if I’m wrong, but that’s not a youma, right?” She glanced over at the creature, which was currently still busy getting burned by whatever attack the senshi had used.

Vela nodded as she kept her eyes on the bat that had moved away for the moment but she wasn't confident it was done with them so she kept a close eye on the air and trees to make sure they weren't blindsided. "Yeah but that doesn't mean you shouldn't avoid getting bitten, you never know what this weird city will throw at you." She said firmly. She kept watch since from where they were they were still going to have to get out of this area before they would be safe enough. She didn't think being totally safe in the city was going to happen. "I'm Vela by the way." She said not really making eye contact since she was still watching around them to see if the bat was coming back. "I'm the senshi of bonfires." She huffed out and then said "Well we shouldn't stay here too long we need to get out of this area away from that bat and whatever magic is affecting it." She did look at the other who appeared to be a knight and asked "Ready to get out of here?"

Ekstrom did her best to multitask as well, watching the senshi while also watching out for the bat. It was awkward, to say the least; she wasn’t used to splitting her attention between having a brief, pleasant conversation and avoiding something that was trying to hurt her, and trying to find a good balance between being polite and staying out of harm’s way was just…odd.
She had to sort out her priorities, really.
“Yeah, I’m finding more and more odd things about since city the more I go out as a knight.” Which wasn’t inherently a bad thing—weird could be good, after all—it just so happened that a lot of what she did encounter as a knight had been not the greatest things. Not that she let that ruin her experiences thus far, but she couldn’t pretend that she wasn’t now more aware of the strange, and it seemed often dangerous, magical underbelly of the city.
Still, she offered the senshi a little smile before shifting her attention fully to keeping a second pair of eyes out for the bat. It was a little too dark to make out, but she could swear she could hear the faint sounds of flapping to her left. “I’m Ekstrom, nice to meet you. And yeah, that’s probably a good idea. It sounds like it might be starting to circle back…”

Vela nodded in agreement this was a really strange city and you never really knew what was going to happen next. She fully exspected to have to hit the bat again so they could get out of here. She didn't want to get bitten and she didn't want to allow Ekstrom to be bitten either. After all it was a pretty good safety practice to not let animals effected by magic bite people. She figured that was pretty much common sense at least for a knight or senshi. "Nice to meet you too." She laughed considering the situation they were in. The bat came back around and Vela hit it with her dance of flames again so they could get away. She shook her head and said as she watched it flee from the feeling of being burned. "Well good thing that works." She said in a cheeky tone as they headed out of the bat's area. "Are you ok from here?" She asked Ekstrom.

While she wasn't a fan of being carried, so to speak, admittedly she was sort of getting used to it. She was still learning, after all, and everyone she'd run into so far seemed to have so much more experience than she did with everything. She wondered very briefly how long Vela had been working as a senshi, though it didn't seem like a good talking point given their situation so she kept that question to herself. Still, if it all came down to experience then logic dictated that all she really needed was time and dedication. That might be her one day, helping a junior Order-person fend off a large-for-absolutely-no-reason creature of whatever kind. She just had to stick to it.
So with a nod to Vela's question, she energetically replied, "Yep! Large bat sighting, check. New Order acquaintance, check. No chaos anything, also check. I think I'm good to call it for tonight's patrol. Time for a shower and a few episodes of SVU, I think.
With that she turned in the direction of home. "I'm this way. Thanks for saving my butt! I owe you one."
