Lisse was still powering up, because of course he was. One bad time…well. One and a half bad times weren’t going to stop him…but his stubbornness meant that he still absolutely wasn’t telling his brother…because.
Of course he wasn’t. They were still involved with a cold war between the both of them and it just…wouldn’t fly.
He felt another aura nearby and headed towards it, ready to have a meet and greet that would earn him a new friend but he stopped dead when he saw the familiar blues of Halle.
Well. s**t. Now he was caught out as a liar and had to face his brother. “Sup.”
It wasn’t eloquent. It wasn’t substantial…it wasn’t…
Anything really. Glancing at the ground, Lisse saw a pair of dice and thought for a moment before swiftly going over and kicking one towards his brother before picking up his own. “How about we play a game, bro?”
If he only knew.

Space 0:Grimly looking first at his brother and then at the dice, Hall intoned, "I am not picking that up." They'd both learned a lesson in Destiny City's so-called random trash. "But I am gonna spar with you until you squeal, right n-" His voice trailed off, first transfixed by the die on the ground and then buffeted by a sudden wind and darkness all around. A moment later and a winding path of squares lit up. The die was still at his feet. And Lisse was still nearby. Relief and worry fought, with irritation winning over both. "Great! We've been transported into Candyland." Or something worse. Probably something worse. " We've been isekai'd into a boardgame."

Space 0This…
Well. This was his fault. No matter how Lisse looked at it…he had caused this. Still…he could recover. He could best his brother. If they were in some enchanted Candyland…then…clearly he just had to win.
“Consider it training then. Aren’t you supposed to be growing big and strong to deal with issues like this?”
The words came out far more bitter and mocking than he had meant them too, and for a moment Lisse felt guilty, but then just shook his head. “If it is just a game, then we have to play, and I’m going to be playing to win. I told you we’d play some dice…this just adds…”
He tossed his die onto the ground and shrugged, watching as it rolled.
“Pizzaz?”

Space 0Testing out the boundaries of the square, Halle found he couldn't move forward. Maybe the only option really was to roll the die, to play the game. Seeing Lisse roll his first (because of course he rolled his first, of course he just had to rush in and do whatever he felt like) he scowled and picked his own up. If his brother was walking into some horror, of course Halle would be walking beside him, if not in front.

Space 5Lisse felt…pleased that he managed to skip ahead five spaces. With luck, he would leave his brother behind him in the dust and be able to win this and absolutely nothing bad would end up happening.
If it was some kind of tricky magic…which…yeah he’d believe…it just had to be won, that was all…and how dangerous could a boardgame be? Not dangerous at all, really. It was just…fun.
Looking back, he smirked at his brother. “Come on, Halle! I’m winning!” He laughed brightly, but when the dog barked, the laugher died at once, and he whipped his head around, trying to see if he could see the creature. It sounded really angry...and that…
Hell no. He wasn’t about to get mauled by an angry dog today, no sir. Lisse swiftly picked up his die once more and rolled it again.

Space 3Hearing the dogs start to bark, Halle ran forward to help Lisse but was abruptly bounced back at the end of the third square. Suddenly a fog appeared, making him unable to see a thing, not even his own hands as he got down on the ground to feel around for the die once more while the dogs continued to bark. Hands finally grasping the die, Halle swiftly sent it spinning forward.

Space 10Lisse bolted, happy that he got another high roll and seemed to be closing in on halfway through the board now. When he got to the new square, his foot…his foot sunk.
“Oh my god.” He almost shouted the words and there was a small quiver of fear in them. “Halle, it’s like ******** Jumangi! There’s quicksand!”
Obviously, to leave…to not drown...he had to roll…and so he did. Pulling his swiftly sinking foot out with a plop.

Space 7Bolting ahead, Halle only had time to hear his brother shouting something and then everything was swallowed up by the cacophony right above his head. Hunching in on himself from the painful, disorienting noise, he had to will himself to uncover one ear and reach out toward the die.

Space 12When Lisse entered this square he froze. There was the smell of smoke everywhere and the sounds of panic…it might have been his mind playing tricks on him, but the wind that was blowing in the smoke seemed to be hot...oh god. It was a fire. Something was on fire.
For a long moment, Lisse just stood there, feeling as though his knees were locked in place. He…didn’t like fires. Out of control fires. Fires that simply destroyed...it…
Someone he couldn’t see knocked into him and he gave a soft yelp, the die falling out of his hand and rolling once more.

Space 9The sense of water? Fine. The feeling of a boat underneath? Sure. The ghostly song. Great! The drowning? Please let him drown faster, because this warm fluttering of his heart? The tug at his stomache? The flush crawling up his skin that's at once horrid and a soft, soft feeling he could roll around in it for a lifetime? Things like crushes and love and relationships were all things Halle had intentionally avoided to this point. Even during these awkward heights of puberty, he avoided it and for good reasons! Responsible reasons that meant a lot to him! And this little game just...tried to force him into feelings he didn't want at the roll of a single die. From his own square, Lisse would be able to hear something extremely rare out of his ******** YOU!"

Space 18As Lisse stumbled into the square, he was nearly hyperventilating after the fire. There was an odd smell but, honestly it didn’t register at first. He was trembling and covered in a fine, cold sweat. It wasn’t until the pain hit…the searing…burning…
Lisse swallowed and held his trembling hands up, looking at them in horror as his skin and muscles began to melt off of his bones.
Oh no.
The sound that ripped itself from his throat was more than a scream, and he let the die fall, stumbling to get out. Not caring what else there was, so long as he wasn’t here.

Space 11There were bats, everywhere, screeching and scratching, but not toying with his emotions. Not fully stopping him in anyway, so this time it was easy to find the die and rush forward. Especially when Lisse started screaming.

Space 20Free. He was free. Lisse trembled and as he checked around him, wary of any…unpleasant surprises…he found none and sank slowly to the ground, struggling to catch his breath. “I…I made it, Halle. I beat you!”
His bravado wasn’t very strong, and there was a clear tremor of fear in the words. But…hopefully by the time his brother reached him…he’d be fine. Cool and relaxed.
…That was the goal, at least!

Space 15
More bats and then even more bats. This time fully in his spice, on him and biting. Tiny pin pricks of pain and where he'd ignored them to simply move through them before, this time his hands lashed out to catch little bodies in the air, crushing fine skin and thin bone between powerful fingers. It felt good, to get a little back at something right now.
He took his time now, getting through the square, finding the die, hands wet and warm unidentifiable gore.

Space 20After his heartrate had slowed Lisse slowly rose back to his feet and stood on tiptoe, trying to see if he could figure out just where Halle was...
Were his brothers rolls really this bad?
...Or had he just...already left? Left Lisse alone...that.
...Would have been rude...
