Ming 1

She had written to Sol after she'd met his daughter more or less gushing about how adorable she was. There was also the little bit somewhat demanding the little brat meet with her. Ming had been surprised to learn that Sol was living so close. She lived in Sauti but she was damned close to the border. So close that daily trips into a Zenan town were easy.

She didn't tell Sol that she was bringing her youngest with her. Haung was off doing whatever it was that boys his age did but his little sister, Myraj, was still very much glued to her parent's hips. She glanced down at her little girl and smiled. "Its alright sweetie. You're going to meet someone special."

Ming would forever consider Sol her nephew. Though she would need to meet his younger siblings since she was clearly behind on being a good aunt.

Myraj 1

She wasn't quite sure what was going on, only that her mother had told her they were going to meet someone. The walk had been long so her mother had carried her most of the way. Now she was standing on her own two feet with one arm wrapped around her mother's leg.

She blinked and looked up at Ming, her other hand having been brought up so that she could suck on her thumb. It was a habit she'd not yet outgrown. A small jerk of her head had her looking back at her own level and trying to figure out who it was that she was supposed to see today.

Sol 1

To say that Sol had been surprised to hear that not only had Fiadah met with Ming'we, but that his Aunt had written him a letter was an understatement. He'd always assumed the woman was off traveling in some strange land, same as his fathers, but to hear that she was so close was baffling. Why hadn't he run into her? His clinic was right on the border to Sauti and with as often as travelers came to him seeking aid it was insane, really, that he hadn't run into her once.

Maybe Koril had? He would have heard stories about Ming, but he wouldn't have recognized her in a crowd. That being said when she'd brought up a meeting Sol agreed, but...that was before his fathers had come through. He wasn't expecting them, he'd thought they were still in Belrea, but things had changed and well...Now Callum was tagging along.

"You're awfully quiet," While he couldn't see his papa's anxiety Sol could feel it. They were getting closer to the village proper by the sounds of things and if Sol really reached out with his magic he could just make out a few passing auras.

Callum 1

"Just thinking." When Callum and Nimueh came to visit their eldest son's family he'd expected a few quiet weeks in the north. Some time with his granddaughters, thick Zenan stews, and a few trips to the capital for work. He hadn't expected to meet up with Ming'we and suddenly Callum was flooded with nerves.

The last time he'd seen her was years ago and so much had happened since then...Some of which he was hiding underneath a carefully tailored cloak. With a sigh, Callum did his best to straighten his posture and put on a smile, even if he knew Sol wouldn't be able to see it. "If she thinks you're a brat for not visiting then I know what she'll do to me."

And then there she was. They'd come up around a bend and Callum knew that form anywhere. She may have been older than the last time he'd seen her, time hadn't left either of them untouched, but Callum knew his smile had gained so much warmth just by seeing her. "Ming!" He called out with a little laugh and a wave- "Oh! And who are you, little one?"

Ming 2

She smiled affectionately at her daughter as she sucked on her thumb. It was a habit she was trying to break the girl of but no luck thus far. When Myraj looked away from her Ming also returned her gaze to the front so that she could be on the look out for Sol. Her head was turned the other direction when she heard her name called out. Only it wasn't Sol's vice she heard it was Callum's.

Her head snapped in his direction, her long ponytail flying out like a whip. "Callum!" She returned the call out. Of course he took notice of Myraj then and she grinned. Her hand came up so that she could place it on the little girl's head proudly. Dark blue eyes stared down at her daughter. "Go on, tell him your name." She encouraged Myraj.

When she glanced up she looked at Sol. "Hello Sol."

Myraj 2

She was steadily looking out at the crowd, watching the Iclings and Windlings walk by without a care. Then she heard someone shout her mother's name and it caused her to jump. A hiccup leaving her as she felt her chest rise up a little. Myraj blinked a few times as she turned her head to look at the man who had yelled. His wave was met with a wiggle of her fingers on the hand that currently had the thumb stuffed in her mouth.

The hand on her head caused her to tilt her head back a bit so she could look up at her mother but when she was told to go ahead and introduce herself she looked back at the man her mother had called Callum. "Muh maum Myrush." She neglected to take her thumb out of her mouth when she spoke.

Since it looked like there was someone with the man she leaned her head to the side to look at Sol. He looked really pretty to her.

Callum 2

If it weren't for the little one he may have closed the distance between them and given Ming a hearty hug. Instead, he got fairly close and offered a warmer, calming smile toward the sweet little thing so as not to overwhelm her. Ming he'd known for decades, but she was new to all of this!

"Myr-oush?" With that little thumb in her mouth it was hard to tell, but Callum did his best with what he got. "Your mama didn't tell us that she'd plucked stars out of the sky and made your eyes with them. They're very lovely." He may have been biased because she looked like a smaller version of Nimueh, but she was far cuter where as his husband was on the handsome side. Gods he would spoil her rotten if Ming gave him the chance.

Sol 2

The one aura he recognized as his Aunt's long before she'd even spoken to them, but the other was new. It had similar traces as hers, though everything else was new. Just going off noises, though, he knew it to be a child and then the way she spoke caused the healer to give off a smile of his own.

Sol's own hair had been pulled back into a ponytail for the occasion, just to prevent any flyaways from getting caught in brambles on the way. "Hello, Auntie." So far so good, but Sol had never been one to hide, unlike his Papa. "I heard you met my daughter, Fiadah? I'm sorry you didn't get to spend more time with them while they were younger. We spent a good deal of time in the South with my husband's parents which doesn't excuse anything, but it would explain why I haven't run into you yet. I would have visited more if I'd known you were close."

Myraj 3

As Callum got her name wrong she shook her head at him. "Mo!" Then she remembered what her dad told her about how her thumb got in the way and made it hard for others to understand. So the little girl took it out with a soft pop. "Myraj."

When he complimented her eyes she grinned at him. "Stars?" Did he really think her eyes were that pretty? She'd have to ask her dad if he thought the same thing.

Hearing Sol talk she blinked. Auntie? Myraj lit up as she realized what that meant. Getting up on her tip toes she smiled at Sol. "Cousin!"

Ming 3

She chuckled at Callum's failed attempt to get her daughters name right. In his defense she'd kept her thumb in her mouth and it had made it difficult. The fact that he thought to flatter the child was amusing. "This is my second child. Her older brother, Haung'we, is out wandering." Ming would need to bring the boy to meet them some time.

Her attention went to sol and she nodded. "I did meet her. She's lovely. Now I just need to meet her sister. And apparently your younger siblings." As she said that she turned her head to look at Callum with an accusing look. "Not even a letter to tell me about the others so now I look like a horrible Aunt that doesn't like my nieces and nephews." Her hands went to her hips. "Dare I ask how many?" One or two wouldn't be so bad. She could make it up to them.

"We have a small farm on the Sauti side of the border. Mostly just plants since they are easier to grow." She looked back at Sol as she mentioned where she lived. "You're welcome to visit anytime. Same for your girls. Myraj would love to show off her flowers."

Callum 3

"Oh, forgive me." Callum couldn't help the little laugh that slipped out, "I'm an old man so I couldn't hear very well. You've a lovely name, Myraj."

Standing a little straighter for his back's sake, Callum was readying himself to ask about Ming's oldest when questions of his progeny was brought up. At least he had the good graces to look embarrassed by it and the hybrid gave an awkward chuckle. "Oh, you look nothing of the sort, Ming'we. The fault lies with me. Nim and I have been traveling so much over the past...decade or so that keeping track of things just got away." Callum could have made excuses about his lack of literary skills, not knowing her location, and any number of things, but when it came down to it he knew he messed up.

"I won't ask for your forgiveness. Or rather, I might have if we'd stopped at Sol and Ygraine, but... I have seven children. And six grandchildren."

Sol 3

Stars for eyes? Images of his father's eyes came to mind and Sol had to wonder if Myraj had those same Aishan shapes. Since she was Ming'we's daughter it was possible, and sometime in the future he would ask, but for now he was content to listen to his papa dig his grave. After all, it would make for interesting dinner chatter later with Baba and Koril.

Quickly, Sol added, "Only two of those grandchildren are mine; just the two you know," before crouching down to get on a better level with Myraj. He turned his head in her general direction, though without really 'looking' at her. His angle was a little too far to the right, a little too low, but his ear was cocked her way. "Does that sound good to you, little cousin? I'm sure my girls would love to meet you. Fiadah's a lot of fun, and Nimia could help with your flowers if you'd like."

Ming 4

She narrowed her eyes at Callum as he told her she didn't look like a bad aunt. Of course she did. She had nieces and nephews that she didn't even know existed and they had babies of their own from the sounds of it. Sol chiming in to say he only had two of the six grandchildren made her smile at him. "Always the good boy Sol." A chuckle left her.

Giving Callum her attention again she had to keep silent for a second. Let him sweat. She thought about it. Seven children. She'd only met two. She had a lot of making up to do. "Do they even know I exist?" She really had to know if they knew of her or not.

She looked down at Myraj and then back up at Callum. "Speaking of your husband.. Myraj somewhat reminds me of him. I suppose that would be because of my own husband's looks." She'd married an Icling after all.

Myraj 4

She seemed to ignore Callum as he was speaking with her mother. Instead Sol got her attention. The little girl was pleased to see that he was willing to get on her level, though she did notice that he seemed to turn his head toward her like he couldn't see her. Her mother sometimes did that. Myraj glanced up at Ming before looking back at Sol.

"Sounds good. I have lots of flowers. I like the purple ones." A big smile formed on her face as she spoke. Her mother had gotten her into gardening when she was really little, though back then if had mostly been her playing in the dirt. "Do you like flowers? What's Nimia like? Does Fiadah know how to garden?" She had so many questions. Since these weren't strangers anymore and her mom had identified them as family then she could ask them all the questions.

Callum 4

"Of course they know." Callum took a half step forward, "They know all about how we used to run wild across Sauti." There were things he'd omitted, of course, about his own past, but Callum's childhood hadn't been all bad. There were good times, so very many good times, and those he wanted to share with his own children.

Taking his eyes away from Ming, he looked back to Myraj and Sol. Even if there were years dividing the two the fact that Ming and Callum were both parents, watching their children interact, was something of a novelty. "That's what I thought too," He couldn't help smiling and, for Sol's sake, he added, "Except for her crystals; those are all her own." Looking back at her now, Callum hesitated before asking, "Is he good to you? Good to them?"
