After the Aishan trees had suddenly and furiously bloomed, pollen had started to fall from the sky in never before seen quantities. The sun seemed choked by its presence and the breeze currents seemed to carry it across all of Tendaji.
Curiously enough, the impact of the pollen could be seen in earthlings...
Random earthlings across Tendaji saw cracks and fissures in their skin, shedding as if they had a sunburn. New skin tones shone through from underneath. Almost as if by magic new eye colors and crystal colors emerged with a night's rest. Earthlings changed overnight without regard to their family lineage. Brothers and sisters now sported new colors; mothers and daughters that once looked like spitting images captured the eyes of many with their sudden differences.
What could be made of these changes? The world was in upset, some overjoyed and thrilled at the new colors, others in despair as their self views shifted beneath their feet.
[ Earthlings (and those with earthling blood) have started to suddenly change colors! What does your character make of the changes? Did they change too, or do they just witness the new looks of someone close? Are they fascinated in this sudden new change, or are they in the throws of woe? Let us know how your character handles the change in the world! ]

Eyvin's New Colors
Skin: █ Fire Eyes: █ Lightning Crystals: █ Leaf
----------------
Eyvin loved harvest time. Their little family always took a trip out to the farm and while it was hard work for the first couple of days there was still so much time for fun. If it wasn't too cold they could swim in the lake, carve pumpkins and help to decorate for the end of the season dance! Not to mention seeing cousins he hadn't seen in ages, spending time with his Aunts and Uncles, gorging himself on all the best food...As far as Eyvin was concerned their family should just live here.
Still, the normally pepping youngling decided to sleep in the morning after the dance. They were supposed to head back home sometime later that day and while he wasn't ready Eyvin did miss his bed. He had all his blankets, his stuffies and pillows instead of...whatever these were stuffed with. Grumbling under his breath he rolled over on the bed he'd shared with his sister and opened one eye just to see if she was awake....
....and promptly stopped breathing. "Inali," He whispered at first, then hissed much louder, "Inali. Wake. Up."
Inali adored dancing, but she also adored sleeping just as much. So when the younglings had been given a chance to sleep in after all the harvest festivities, the girl had burrowed into a pile of blankets to keep herself comfortable throughout the night. Though it had been a bit harder than usual, the girl tossing and turning as she felt itchy and uncomfortable from the pollen that had surprised the whole family over the last couple of days. Where had such pollen even come from? Inali had thought it almost magical looking at first, the shimmering specks floating in the autumn breeze, but the itchiness afterwards was not magical at all. Or at least that was what she had thought until Eyvin's voice woke her up, the youngling stretching as she realized that she had kicked most of her blankets to the floor after a restless night. What a mess!
"What Eyvin?" Inali rubbed the sleep from her eyes, the girl frustrated that she had been woken up after finally settling in for sleep. "Couldn't you wait a bit...longer?" Her harsh tone faded into confusion, her frown growing as she looked at her brother. "Eyvin? That is you, right?" It sounded like her brother...and it looked just as worried as her brother normally would. "Did the cousins play a prank on you?" She narrowed her gaze, unaware of her own changes as she poked at his crystals which were pink somehow. Maybe a paint or a dye? Though...how did they get his eyes to look like that? Now she was really feeling confused. What was going on here?!

"I'm me if you're you?" The words didn't make sense, but neither did this! He reached out to touch his sister's hair, pulling one of the longer strands out in front of her so that Inali could look. "Your hair...it's so light." Of course that was the most obvious change for him to see, but now that he was closer to her Inali's skin looked off, and her crystals...
But when she talked about what he looked like Eyvin dropped her hand to look at his hand. They'd spent hours working in the sun. He should have been darker, not lighter! Eyvin looked around the room, spotted an older mirror on the dressed and pulled his blankets away to rush toward it. "I don't think it's a prank. If it is it's a good one, but-" He'd no more than got a look at his eyes than Eyvin was turning away, "-why are my eyes purple?!"

"Of course I'm-oh." Inali tumbled out of bed and onto the floor in surprise after seeing the strand of hair. "I think I'm me." She managed after a moment trying to hold her fingers in front of her face. Did those look normal? Inali wiggled her fingers thoughtfully, silently counting the best that she could. Five! She still had five digits as well, so what was going on? "Maybe the sunlight faded my hair." She mused quietly, finally rolling around so that she could stand with a blanket wrapped around her shoulders.
Joining Eyvin at the mirror, Inali tilted her head back and forth. "Sunlight to fade my hair and paint for your crystals...." Her voice trailed off as she looked closely at his eyes, his now very purple eyes. "Do they make paint for eyeballs?" She questioned quietly, her breath hitching as she realized things may not be a simple as she hoped. Inali truly hated complicated things and this definitely felt like one of those situations! Did Mama and Papa know what was going on? Could they even go to them like this? In the sea of family at the farm would anyone believe them when they looked so different?! "Okay, okay. Maybe someone got a really good one on us." She managed again after a moment, her voice shaking despite her attempt to sound brave. "There was that cool performer in the city....didn't he make things look different cuz of magic? Can that be this?" They would just need to wait it out or find the source to turn back, right? Like some sort of switch to get rid of the illusion!

"Sunlight doesn't fade your hair that fast," His murmur was tinged with panic the longer he looked at himself. Why had her hair changed, but his didn't and shouldn't they match?! They were siblings, which were they so different; different from their parents, even!
"Maybe, maybe," Eyvin nodded, trying his best to cling to that strand of denial. It was a prank; yeah, just a...really, really good prank? He didn't hear a whole lot of noise outside of their room, just the normal sounds of people getting up so maybe it was just them? For now, at least, things seemed pretty calm.
"Yeah! Yeah he did! He made a tablecloth look like the night sky and....he was in the city though. Did you see him at the festival?" Why would he come all the way out here? And they'd been around for a week; wouldn't they have noticed him by now?
"Does it....Do I look bad now? Be honest." His voice was softer, definitely on the meek side, and worried. He knew their parents would be kind, but he didn't want kind he wanted the truth.

"You sure, it really can't?" Inali almost sounded disappointed, the girl hopeful that she could at least have some sort of reason for her sudden changes. How had both she and her brother changed so much overnight?! If it wasn't for Eyvin's familiar voice and movements, his expressions even being the same as she always knew, the youngling would have been a lot less trusting and more panicked about the stranger in her room. It was probably best that Eyvin woke up first, Inali would have tried beating him up with a pillow first just to be safe.
Inali chewed at her bottom lip thoughtfully. Had she seen the illusionist at the festival? The youngling shook her head before nodding and then shaking her head again in confusion. "He's good at disguises though! What if he sneaked in? Some of our cousins get really into their pranks." She murmured before pausing at her brother's question, her expression softening with a small smile. "You look cute...different, but not bad. I just hope Mama and Papa believe it's us." She pursed her lips thoughtfully, her mind trying its best to grasp at ideas. What if this was a prank? Would it be worth bothering their parents over this? Inali did hate to cause any hassles for them. "Maybe we can sneak to the creek first, just to make sure this isn't a dye." There was a little creek that ran along the edges of the nearby field. They could make it there if they moved quickly enough and return in time for breakfast. "Whatcha think? If we hurry now we could probably get away without anyone noticing. I don't wanna worry Mama and Papa..." She offered, her gaze almost pleading as she looked at her brother.

Their cousins were pretty good with their pranks now, but still...this was a little much. Only a few of the family had any magic and none of them were old enough to make any lasting marks. But still, maybe this was just a big prank? What if they were supposed to panic in the morning, but by lunch it just faded away?
Just thinking about it all caused Eyvin's simple little mind to ache.
"They'll know it's still you. Your smile's still the same." It was smaller than he liked seeing it, but enough of Inali glistened through the panic to make it genuine. As worried as he was there was something about having his sister there, experiencing the same dilemma, that gave him courage.
"Yeah, yeah, I think that's a good idea...but just in case maybe a hat? Cloaks'll be noticeable but if someone does see us no one'll question a hat."

"Ya think so?" Inali's expression softened, panic slowly being diluted by hope as she realized her parents may be able to recognize them after all. "Then let's hope so." She agreed before perking up at the idea of hats. She did love digging through her mother's workshop and trying on all sorts of strange creations, especially hats! The youngling nodded at her brother before darting towards the one small wardrobe in the room and opening it with an energetic yank of the handles.
"Here!" Inali tossed a wide brimmed sunhat towards her brother and picked up another large one, this one with a giant ribbon and brightly colored silk flowers, for herself. "Too much?" She asked, posing playfully before remembering the direness of their actual situation. "Okay, maybe not." She tossed the thing back into the wardrobe and tugged out a simple straw hat for the fields. Surely that one would do. The youngling tied the string beneath her chin and nodded towards Eyvin. "Alright, let's do this." She started sneaking towards the door, creaking it open inch by inch until she saw the hallway was clear and motioned for her brother to join her as she darted down towards the steps leading through the kitchen and outside.

Eyvin caught the hat easily and paused before putting it on. He gripped the rim of the hat, his little hands trembling while he took a deep breath and once he'd steadied himself the boy put it on his head. Part of him still felt like crying; it was terrifying, just catching the slightest glimpse of himself in a mirror, but he could do this. He had to do this for Inali.
Mama and Papa would be up any minute now so they needed to move fast! He wouldn't be surprised if they were already awake, which meant getting out of the house would be even harder. "The window, climb up the window," Eyvin hissed, taking the stairs two steps at a time to catch up with Inali, "The backdoor squeaks."
There was a sizable window just above the wash basin in the kitchen they could use, or rather, one they'd used plenty of times before with their cousins when they snuck back in later in the evening. Sometimes Auntie would lock the door, clearly trying to teach the kids a lesson, but their cousins were pretty good at picking windows...

"Smart." Inali nodded as she listened to her brother's instruction, the girl jumping down the last couple of steps and stumbling forward as she regained her balance and continued on towards the kitchen. Thankfully it looked like everyone had too much fun dancing last night so it was still quiet and Inali quickly climbed up the counter by the wash basin so that she could tug the window open. "Here." The youngling held out her hand to her brother to help tug him up next to her so that they could open it.
Thankfully, it looked like their cousins' last escape had gone unnoticed so the window remained unlocked this time. It made it simple enough for Inali to push against the frame, the faintest of creaks making her freeze for a moment before continuing on so that she could open it and slip outside into the fresh morning air. "I can breathe better today, none of that gross pollen." She mused with a grin, happy that the air was actually clear today and still not making the connection.

Should he be looking at the leftover tarts from last night? They were a little stale after sitting out, but if he dipped them in milk...Eyvin still walked toward the window, but his newer, lighter gaze kept them in his heart. Surely by the time they got back his cousins would get their hands on them, but...priorities.
He used a little stool to help climb onto the wash basin and, using Inali's hand, out the window. There was a brief moment where his shoe clanged against the basin, causing the little hybrid to pause halfway out the window, but when no one seemed to notice he continued outside.
"Yeah, it's not so thick and my eyes aren't all watery today," Eyvin agreed with a big grin. If he'd been sharper maybe he could have connected things for them, but instead the little one reached for his sister's hand and pulled her toward the creek. "C'mon, before anyone sees."

Inali squeezed her brother's hand. "Okay!" She started running forward, the house getting smaller as the creek approached. Thankfully there were a few trees around the edges of the creek to protect them from view which allowed her to relax more once they arrived at the destination. "Whew, it's a lot easier to run when you can breathe fresh air." Wiping her brow, Inali grinned towards Eyvin. At least they made it!
Though she did hesitate a moment, looking between the creek and her brother thoughtfully. "You know...no matter what, you're still the best brother." Even if he was her only brother, that was. Inali's expression was conflicted as she looked back towards the creek, bracing herself to venture into the cooler waters to try and rinse off the strange colors. One toe in and she shivered before pushing herself to take step after step until finally she was standing with the water up to her calves. Splashing some water along her legs, her hands scooping up even more to dump on her head, the youngling shook her body so that water splashed everywhere as she tried to see if that could change back her appearance. "It's not helping...is it?" She tried not to sound too disappointed even though it was hard to believe that this was actually happening to them. It was just so strange!

As he ran Eyvin reached up to put a hand ontop of his hat just to make sure the floppy thing didn't fall off his head as he ran! He hadn't bothered with shoes so the chill of the morning dew made his toes curl with every step, but there was something exciting about it. Like they were going to find a magical way to cure themselves and have a fun time while doing it!
A healthy sweat had popped out over his skin by the time they reached the creek. Eyvin's short little hairs stuck out at weird angles, now a mixture of sleep tousled and just sticky. "No matter what we're still twins; it can't take that away." They were closer than regular siblings; they'd been born together! That meant that no matter how weird they looked or what anyone said they still had each others backs. It was the only thing keeping Eyvin semi calm as he made his way to the water and started to splash the cool liquid against his flushed skin.
When it didn't look to have an effect on Inali, he tried something truly desperate; Eyvin fully submerged himself, laying flat on the grimey creek rocks to get covered in water. When it was too cold for him to stand he breeched the surface with a gasp and looked expectantly at his hands....
....nothing, but shivers. Same color as before. "...Do you...do you think it's gonna be like this forever?"

"So true!" Inali felt a lot of her worries slipping away. If Eyvin and she both recognized each other still as twins then how could the rest of their family deny them? "And no matter what, you'll always be adorable." She teased her brother with a giggle as she watched him dive into the water. If that didn't work then surely it was something that they would be stuck with!
"I think so." She admitted with a slight shrug, holding out a hand to help her brother back towards shore after his attempt at washing himself back to normal. "At least we tried." Inali offered a warm smile, trying her best to stay optimistic despite the strange circumstances that had completely altered their appearances. And it was hard to be completely upset knowing that there would be lots of warm and yummy food back home when they returned. It was still the harvest season after all!
