The Orbs (15) - The cave is beautiful, but if you hope to preserve its image anywhere but your mind, you are very much out of luck. Any efforts to photograph the area are met with disappointment. When taking a photograph, strange light orbs speckle the image, blurring out everything you hoped to view. Video has nearly the same effect; the image is always blurred and catches only streaks of white orbs. Audio is distorted, replaced with an odd sound of heavy breathing and strange, whispered chanting. You can’t see the orbs naturally, but after bright photography, you can sometimes make out their fading shapes in front of you. Maybe it’s just the water vapor in the air, or small bugs making a quick escape. If you take too many photographs or disrupt the area too much, you may be the unfortunate victim of sudden cold spells, as if small, icy orbs are pelting your body; it feels like an ice cube pressed against your skin.
Halley had returned to the cave, as if the Raven hadn't been weird enough she had her polarid camera with her this time. She was planning on taking pictures she also had her bag with some other ghost hunting equipment in it because something about this place was just - interesting. And it begged for someone to come investigate, like how did they not know it was here for so long?
She'd talked to Nessaela about coming back because having a buddy made things more fun especially somewhere weird like this. Halley wasn't sure what they'd end up running into this time, if that silly raven was still down here or if there was some new oddity to show up. As she looked around for the other she decided to go ahead and take a picture to see what happened when she snapped it, she was trying to snag a picture of the landscape and the entrance.
"This should make for a great picture for my scrap book of places I've investigat---" She paused, "Oh." She was shaking the polaroid but noticed instead of a picture there was just an orb. The senshi of superstition squinted at the picture, "This is interesting. . . . "

Probably wasn't the best idea to be going back into that strange cemetery but Nessaela was curious if that raven was there still. It had been an interesting encounter with a bird that seemed to at least parrot back phrases that was bandied at it. Even more interesting was the White Moon senshi that she had met while investigating. Sailor Halley had seemed, for all intents and purposes, someone who Nessaela could relax in the company of. It was probably because of the senshi's penchant for things that were paranormal that kept Nessaela from being in any real danger.
It was strange that perhaps Halley had not been around for the moment that distrust had been born between the Velencians and the forces of Order but Nessaela thought as long as she was on pleasant speaking terms that having someone along that she could at least talk with as her normal self was worth the risk. It wasn't like she'd be the one to spill the beans about what had occurred.
On this night it seemed that she would probably get more from documenting the area with photography and maybe some video so as she descended past the gates, tarnished with age, did Nessaela gently activate the Comtech on her uniform before attempting to get a few seconds of video footage before spotting the senshi of superstition looking through the lens of a camera herself, "Halley! Sorry I'm late. Had to dodge a security guard at the entrance."
This meant having to hide from the guard while making sure her glamour was activated. Once the guard was gone and she was further down the path than could be seen from above that it was safe once more to drop the guise that kept all Vanguardians safe.
Halley gave a wave to Nessaela "Oh man, had I known he was going to give you trouble I would've stayed up there to distract him. I'm sorry!" She said as she looked back to the photo she'd taken. Halley had gotten use to sneaking around the security at other places and watching for their shift changes she didn't think much about others who didn't know what to watch for.
"So, there's something off about taking pictures here." She offered the polaroid to Nessaela. "This should be a picture of the entrance, but it seems there's orbs obstructing all the view."
She paused as she looked around, "There's a debate in the paranormal world if orbs are just dust or actual spirits..." Halley hadn't wasted time in launching into her weird rambles and she looked back at Nessaela, It made her wonder if this was dust or if there was an intelligent type of haunt here that didn't want them taking pictures.
"Oh ahaha, sorry how are you doing by the way?" She asked looking towards the vangardian. "Hm, do you want to use my video camera or one of the recorders?" She asked as she held up her pack since she didn't see anything that looked like it could record on the other. Halley had also made sure to bring some snacks and trinkets for the raven if they ran into him again. She wasn't leaving anyone out.

Nessaela waved off the comment that Halley made about distracting the guard with a casual motion of her left hand, "I think if you had remained up there to act as a distraction then maybe the guard would have clued in about our presence down here anyways. As it is now, since we've both avoided being seen, we're free to linger around longer."
At the offering of the photograph that Halley held in her hand Nessaela reached over and took the offer to examine it more closely before her gaze grew thoughtful. Was this something to be concerned about? Returning the photo to Halley the Vanguard corporal sighed, "any ideas on what caused the image to distort?"
Taking in all the gear that Halley had brought down with her drew a chuckle from Nessaela before she stifled it. It wasn't exactly polite to laugh at such a image of being burdened down with items but Nessaela couldn't imagine what all the things were needed for. Instead she straightened her composure before looking over what Halley had offered to her to use before gently reaching into the bag and picking out what had to be one of the recorders. Her fingers danced over the controllers before she gazed around perplexed, "what are we trying to record .. the raven?"
Nessaela would be interested to see if the bird returned to converse with them again, but somehow she wasn't sure it would like being recorded.
Halley shrugged, "It's possible, I do wish people wouldn't cause so much havoc that a guard is needed. It makes exploring haunted houses and other structures just as difficult when there's a guard rotation."
The senshi had run into so many guards at this point at certain places it was almost annoying instead of the thrill she use to get from dodging them. "I'm thinking it's orbs. There's a theory in the paranormal world that orbs are just floating dust, some are. Some are caused by a bug being in the flash at just the right time and then these - I think maybe some sort of spirit or energy trying to keep us from getting good pictures of the place for some reason."
She paused, "As far as what are we recording, if there is someone here - in spirit or otherwise we should be able to do a call and response. The recorders can act as a catalyst and catch voices we can't hear naturally. So while we can hear the Raven I feel like whatever is causing the orbs, may have something to say so we can try to hear them on the recordings."
Halley wiggled excited, "This is probably the best place I've been for paranormal activity, if I'm being honest."

Orbs?
Now Nessaela was confused.
How was it that such a phenomena would be able to distort images taken by a camera? The picture that she held in her hand seemed to be the proof that the senshi in front of her spoke of and yet there was a lingering doubt in the Velencian's mind that made it seem that it was one of the other explanations that had been offered. But Nessaela wasn't going to rule out the possibility of it being a true image of what Halley spoke of.
As the other spoke of what the rest of her equipment was for Nessaela gently tucked a lock of her green hair behind her left ear before gently tapping out a quick note for researching later on, once she was back in her room. There was a chance that something could turn up once she started looking more into this. As Halley finished her explanation Nessaela scanned her surroundings by spinning in a quick circle before sighing, "I think I might need a demonstration of how a paranormal investigation goes. Otherwise I'm not going to be of any help down here."
The various gravestones had an unique air about them and Nessaela would have loved to study them further, but for now her attention went back to Halley. She was curious enough to want to learn about what it was that Halley was fond of doing in her spare time.
Halley watched as Nessaela typed while she spoke but Halley didn't miss a beat on her explanations, when the other said they might need a demonstration of how a paranormal investigation goes Halley's grinned broadened.
"Of course!" She said as she looked around trying to figure out where the best place to start would be. "I think we could set up near one of the tombstones and still be able to capture the entrance." She admitted as she moved towards one that looked suitable for setting the flashlights she had on the base of the tombstone.
"So the flashlights, this one on the left is for no, the middle is a neutral response or a control if you will. and right is yes response." She was also setting up an emf reordered that would make noise anytime someone or something came close to it that interrupted the area. "This..." She said as she placed her hand in front of it to make it whine. "makes noise when things come near, I'll save this since I want to try the flashlights first. If there's enough energy the spirits here will be able to use those to answer yes, no questions."
She also set up a go-pro to record the responses as well as the surrounding area. "I have this to record the responses as we speak to them ... and it looks like the camera is also picking up orbs." Halley seemed very curious, "Hmm this maybe dust if this camera is getting them as well, I know it's not bugs."
However, Halley was still interested in trying to communicate with whoever was down there. "So to start out you usually want to explain that the flashlights are easy for them to manipulate and turn on. I've got them so they're just right if something paranormal touches them they should light right up." She looked around, "If you're here can you light up one of the flashlights laying on the headstone? All you have to do is touch it."
She was hoping for the best but was always ready for something to disappoint her.

Nessaela was intrigued by all the items that Halley had pulled out of her bag with an explanation of what each was used for. The corporal had no trouble with following along with what it seemed like each device should do but how exactly could non-corporeal entities affect devices in such a fashion that either things would light up, or make noise ... or be recorded electronically. That is what she was lost by. Were spirits even supposed to exist? Nessaela listened as Halley spoke clearly into the surrounding area, seemingly to invite whatever could be here, to interact with them.
Turning around in a circle for a second or two did Nessaela call up her own recording device before pointing it towards the flashlights that sat innocuously on top of the tombstone. Would any of them light up? How touch sensitive did something have to be in order for a spirit or entity to interact with it?
Keeping her voice low, Nessaela moved closer to Halley before whispering to the senshi, "how long does one wait for a response?"
She pulled away for a moment before speaking in a calm manner into the spaces that they couldn't see, "would it help to say that we just want to know if you are here?"
Halley was smiling as Nessaela pulled out a recording device as well. As she was watching and listened to Nessaela's question, "It really depends, if they have enough energy it won't take long. Sometimes the spirits or entities don't have enough stored up energy. You'll notice it in batteries draining or maybe cold spots."
She paused as she watched the flashlights and occasionally checked the go pro. When Nessaela spoke, Halley was watching the orbs just kind of zoom around. "Granted sometimes they just don't answer where you can see or hear them normally and sometimes you'll hear it on a voice or video recording."
"We can also relay a message to someone if you have a message to pass on." She offered thinking, "Though some if it was a person who use to be alive, they don't always know that they've passed on. So sometimes you have to be careful not to upset them in order not to get attacked." She seemed to be thinking about other information. "Evil entities can also attack..."

Interesting, Nessaela mused to herself. Her gaze was focused on the flashlights even as Halley finished explaining that one had to be careful about dealing with any entities that deigned to make their presence known. It would have done to remember such information if one attempted to do more than one investigation she assumed before looking around the area. For a moment her thoughts turned to the raven they had encountered the first time they'd been here and she wondered if the creature was still around before witnessing one of the flashlights deciding to light up ever so slightly. Oh, did that mean that there was something here with them?
"Halley," she made an effort to be silent as possible, "the flashlight just turned on."
Of course now that she looked at the flashlight that had lit up, the one on the right, it had gone dark once more.
Taking a moment to debate if the light had indeed turned on did Nessaela remember that asking questions could be good as well, and without further delay she spoke clearly, "is someone here with us right now?"
Halley looked just before the flashlight turned off, there was a moment of awe as she watched Nessaela speak and asked if someone was there with them.
She watched intently the flashlights. Slowly the right one dimmly lit again, Halley's hands went to her mouth and she tried not to squeal in glee. They'd established contact it seemed.
She took a moment to gather herself, "Can we ask you some questions?" She asked when the light had turned off.
She was looking still super excited, she looked to Nessaela and quietly whispered, "If they say yes, we can try to ask more questions, but if it's no I don't want to cause too much stress"

Nessaela was actively engaged now. The fact that some of their questions had yielded answers was enough to have hooked her interest this evening. Her gaze swept across the cemetery before zeroing back in on the trio of flashlights that Halley had set up earlier. Even as Halley asked whatever it was if they could ask questions did her eyes lock on the flashlight that would indicate a "yes" answer, willing it to light up. Although, she would have no idea what to ask if that was indeed the case. To the corporal's dismay though the "yes" light remained dark. Her eyes travelled to each of the other lights before realizing that no indicative answer had come from whatever presence might have been with them this evening.
"Does a non-answer mean that contact was lost," she queried in a whispered voice to the other girl. If that was the end to the evening's culmination of paranormal activity then Nessaela was sort of disappointed. To establish a connection of sorts, only for it to be short-lived as it was, felt like the ground upon which they stood had jolted her sideways. But perhaps the mysticism of the evening could be continued if Nessaela let out the secret that she had been hiding from Halley ... about her origins and all that.
Halley paused thinking about the question, "It's possible, they don't have enough energy to connect."
The senshi of superstition was standing there looking at the flashlights waiting for a yes or no to light up - well even if it was the center one it was more than nothing. She frowned, "I assume if they don't have enough energy and I don't think I bought my EMF emitter for them to feed on."
She sat with her legs crossed on the ground as she though, "I suppose we call it a night and pack up if we don't get a response. I don't want to push them and become an unwelcomed guess."
The night had looked so promising to find something unusual too. "Pity, I was hoping for some good footage for my blog." There was another pause, "Although the orbs pretty much distort a lot of this as well." She was looking back at the footage to try and see if she could see or hear anything while thinking.

Nessaela looked at the flashlights, just willing one more to light up. It was odd, but she really didn't feel like having the evening end with just a few yes and no questions and perhaps a few blurred photographs. When nothing happened she turned her attention back to Halley in time to hear her say something about a blog. The corporal was intrigued by the word and almost calle up her tech screen to search the meaning before pausing.
"What is this blog you speak of?"
Depending on what answer she was provided with and perhaps if she could swear Halley to some form of secrecy, well just maybe the night wouldn't be over just yet.

I'm sorry, a month later and I finally get around to tagging this.
Halley paused when the other asked what the blog was she was speaking of. "Oh, uh..."
She paused for a moment, "Well it's my webpage on the internet that I use to log adventures of exploring abandoned, haunted and just generally spooky places. Also, I sometimes just log some occult things and when I do tarot readings."
Halley wasn't sure if she broke it down too much for Nessaela she didn't want to insult the other. "I can show you if you want,"
