After the Aishan trees had suddenly and furiously bloomed, pollen had started to fall from the sky in never before seen quantities. The sun seemed choked by its presence and the breeze currents seemed to carry it across all of Tendaji.
Curiously enough, the impact of the pollen could be seen in earthlings...
Random earthlings across Tendaji saw cracks and fissures in their skin, shedding as if they had a sunburn. New skin tones shone through from underneath. Almost as if by magic new eye colors and crystal colors emerged with a night's rest. Earthlings changed overnight without regard to their family lineage. Brothers and sisters now sported new colors; mothers and daughters that once looked like spitting images captured the eyes of many with their sudden differences.
What could be made of these changes? The world was in upset, some overjoyed and thrilled at the new colors, others in despair as their self views shifted beneath their feet.
[ Earthlings (and those with earthling blood) have started to suddenly change colors! What does your character make of the changes? Did they change too, or do they just witness the new looks of someone close? Are they fascinated in this sudden new change, or are they in the throws of woe? Let us know how your character handles the change in the world! ]
Anahita wasn't certain what was going on. The ranger had stopped on her way back from an escort mission in Sauti to freshen up after an irritating night of itching, only to find that her skin color was significantly darker. Did the ends of her hair also appear darker? It was hard to tell with the flickering shadows from the trees overhead, the autumn breeze moving the branches back and forth as she crouched down by the stream where her baffled reflection stared back. Ana's mouth pressed into a tight line as she tried to think about this without panicking. It wasn't as if she felt sick, right? So she was still healthy, any exhaustion was from how her skin had kept her up all night with itching. No wonder though looking at herself now! Had that strange pollen given her some sort of reaction? But she had never heard of a reaction causing such a drastic and permanent appearing change before. "I wonder if anyone will recognize me." She murmured after another moment as she touched her cheek, though thankfully it looked like the changes didn't alter her actual facial structure or anything like that. It just looked like she had been sun-kissed, her skin darker than before while her bright aqua gaze and other traits remained the same thankfully.

The pollen falling through the air had been a spectacular sight. It was like the snows of Zena, minus the bitter cold and damp. Rather like something from a fairy tale. While others had carefully avoided the strange substance as much as they could, Faamy had made use of the moment without hesitation. She'd set herself up a comfortable spot within the village and played her oud. She stuck to tunes she had learned from her travels, knowing the foreign music would seem that much more mystical with the dust in the air.
The next day, she, like many others, had been shocked upon her first look in the mirror. What had happened?! She knew herself well enough to see the changes as clear as day. How-? No way! She quickly dressed and slung her oud over her shoulder before darting out from the room she was staying in. Had anyone else changed?
She rushed out the front door and nearly bowled over an aqua toned young woman walking by. She danced gracefully around the other body and let out a gasp of a laugh. "Ah, goodness, sorry there. Tha' was a close un! Did I get'cha?" [quote="Sabra Knightquote]

Since she could do nothing about the changes, Anahita had figured it was best to just get supplies quickly. The quicker she got her supplies then the quicker she could return home, after all. The ranger had her bow on her back, walking through the nearby town when another woman came dar-no dancing past? Anahita blinked, a small frown of confusion crossing her lips as she watched the other woman. "You didn't." She managed after a moment, still processing what had just happened. "Good moves." The compliment was the next thing to slip from her lips, a slight flush decorating her cheeks at how silly it felt to say such a thing like that. She truly was flustered after all these changes!
"I mean...it's always good to have reflexes. Don't want to stumble into each other and cause more chaos than what's already happening." She looked pointedly across the street where a pair of earthlings were nearly in a fist fight over their own changes, somehow blaming each other like they were responsible for it. "Did you get affected too?" Ana found herself asking, leaving the pair across the street to quarrel it out as she looked at the Sautian.

"Ah, tha's a relief." Faamy took stock of herself as well to make sure she hadn't lost any of her items, and everything was accounted for. "Hmm? Oh! Thanks much," she purred with a giggle. "I've been practicin' mah dancin', so tha' must be it." Her banter paused when she looked around and realized that the girl wasn't kidding. It seemed she wasn't the only one to wake up to changes, but others were much more.. enthusiastic in expressing their shock.
"'Too?' Ah, so yeh didn't fall asleep lookin' quite like tha', didjyeh?" She reached up and touched the ends of her hair. "I sure did. Mah hair, mah eyes, an' even mah dang crystals all shifted colors overnight." One hand moved to flick a finger against one of her crystals. "It's the strangest thang, i'n'it?"

Anahita could only shake her head lightly at the stranger's antics. She truly had stumbled into an energetic person, hadn't she? Still, it was better than dealing with someone like those quarreling across the street. "Well, it's good that practice worked out." She agreed with slight amusement before mimicking the movement and touching the ends of her own hair. It did seem slightly darker at the tips, almost like the pollen had started changing it before fading away. Her skin though...well it had done a full job on that part.
"Everything?" Anahita frowned as she stopped twisting her hair and looked back at the stranger. "That's a drastic change, I had some but at least my crystals and eyes were the same." It truly was strange. She nodded her agreement. "I honestly don't even know how to react towards it. You don't think there's some sort of medicine to revert the changes, do you? That is if you're truly upset by the changes, I think...I'm not that bothered personally though I normally hate surprises." Did it bother her that much? Now she looked closer to her mother, Anahita comparing her skin tone towards her mother richer Oban one. Truly, it wasn't the worst of changes in her opinion at least.

Faamy's brow rose with interest as she listened. "Oooh, I love me a good sur-prahse," she sang with a giggle. "This was a bit much, I gotta say. It ain't bad, but, ya know, gonna take a bit o' gettin' used ta." She reached up to tug on a few coiled locks of hair to look it over again. The new colors did go well together.
"Got no clue what would change it back. Never seen the like o' this b'fore. I just got up. No time ta even ask around yet." She stepped to one side to avoid a woman who darted by without noticing their surroundings. "Judgin' everyone's reactions, I'd say they ain't seen the like either."

Even Anahita found herself smiling at the other woman's attitude. It was definitely refreshing from the awkward merchants and dour travelers she had dealt with during this last escort mission, that was for certain. "I just hope it's a one time surprise and we don't wake up looking completely different tomorrow as well." She twisted the end of her hair again, still baffled by how the ends had suddenly darkened overnight like this. Then again her fingers were even more baffling with the deep tan skin that once was as pale as her father's wind heritage.
"I guess it is what it is." She gave a light shrug before glancing around. "You think there's a place to grab drinks while the chaos is unfolding? I was going to gather supplies, but maybe a drink might help." Anahita wasn't escorting anyone at the moment and even though it was early she was still trying to adjust to the changes. A good glass of anything really could probably at least get her stomach twisting in other ways than from the nervousness concerning these changes. "Ah, I'm Anahita by the way." She gave a slight wave, a sheepish smile crossing her features. "Just in case it matters to know names around here."

Faamy's eyes widened. "Gracious, imagine wakin' up t'morrah and we changed again!" She pouted slightly and reached to twirl a lock of hair around a finger. "I'm kinda likin' how it looks." She was looking forward to seeing how others who knew her reacted to her new look as well! Ooh, maybe she would go wild and straighten her hair as well! Maybe.
"Well, not like everyone gone an' changed. Some people out there are gonna just be goin' on with their day." She grinned and took a clarifying deep breath. "I dare say a drink would be a good boost for the brain. Might head there along with ya if ya don't mind. Name's Faamy. It's a pleasure, Anahita."

Anahita nodded, as much as the exclamation and pout was amusing to witness it was fairly true that they didn't know the full extent of these changes. "Maybe we'll even grow some strange antennae or an extra eye. Who knows?" Others might have panicked over such thoughts but Anahita was more curious than anything. As annoying as it was to have no control over her body changing because of the pollen, it was strange that it had happened at all and made her wonder about how much more the world had to teach her. There truly were a bunch of mysteries and probably always would be, just more for her to explore as she kept up as a ranger then she supposed. "Though hopefully we don't change anymore, especially since I think we faired pretty well compared to others. You look nice." She agreed with a faint nod, thankful that her own changes weren't something like bright orange hair or something else extremely different.
"Some of those that didn't change might be jealous though." Teased Anahita with a grin before nodding. "Let's go find some drinks then. I think I passed a smaller tavern on the other side of town, might be quieter there away from the crowd of people panicking here." She started forward before remembering her manners and giving a small smile towards the earthling. "And a pleasure as well, Faamy."

The idea of waking up to an extra eye gave Faamy pause. The amused smile fell just a little with wary concern. "Well, no offense ta anyun else, but I'd rather not sprout nothin' aside from what I already got, thanks." Shuddering at the idea, she waved her hand as thought to physically brush the thoughts away. "An' thank ya much. Ye're a darlin' sight yerself."
A playful giggle helped her to relax as they headed along. "Ah, I'm used ta a few jealous looks here an' there." An extra swish was added to her walk. "I ain't usually one ta look fer the quiet places, but this town's in a downright ruckus. Probably best ta just git outta the way of it all."

Anahita let out a soft laugh at the reaction. "I don't think I would like that either." She agreed with a nod. "Let's hope the color changes are it then." She was already struggling with these changes, the last thing she needed was for something else to happen. The compliment only brought more of a smile to her lips, Anahita trying not to blush at it. Her sister was the one who was often compared to roses while she was usually more acknowledged for her sharp tongue and arrows instead of any beauty.
"Oh?" Anahita simply shook her head with amusement, the hybrid continuing on the path as she navigated past buildings until coming up towards a humble looking stone building with an upper floor that had far less earthlings than the center of town. "And here we are." The Prancing Aldabuck surely had some spare seats for them to take while trying to adjust to these changes, that much Anahita was confident in as she opened the door and peered inside to see only a few earthlings around the tables that usually didn't fill up into much later in the evening. Perfect.

The ever-confident bard just smiled at the simple 'oh?' the other gave. Faamy didn't give too much thought to what others thought of her, in the sense of ever trying to tone herself down. Either they liked her the way she was, or they could just move on! Anahita seemed a decent sort so far though.
"Well, ain't this a cozy place?" She looked around with genuine interest and curiosity. She had never been to the establishment before, and was always keeping an eye out for new places to perform. It looked a little slow for her though. "Is it usually this slow 'r just the timin'? Good fer us fer now, 'course. The quiet'll be good fer lettin' us take it in. Yeah?"

"Yeah." Anahita agreed, a smile on her face as she chose a table away from those that did have a few patrons for them to settle at. It was fairly cozy with a small fire even crackling in the main hearth and a little stage set next to it. The tables must have even been freshly wiped down after the stragglers from the evening before walked out, the morning crowd not having nearly as much as the evening crew to allow the few workers time to clear up the place a bit. That or they were working overtime to try to distract themselves from their changes, one of the waiters still touching their gemstones as if trying to adjust to the changes. "Considering the sun isn't near setting yet, it might be a bit of an off time for this place." She joked lightly as she waited for someone to come around with drinks for them. "Maybe if we just sit around and wait for evening we can see what happens, but that'll be a lot of drinks or at least some talk in between a couple of rounds." Though if it took off the stress of these changes...maybe it would be nice to enjoy a day and just have some drinks for a bit. Just this once wouldn't hurt, right?

Faamy hummed softly as she contemplated the business. There was potential here. She would have to see what the evening crowd was like.
Ah, but she wasn't here on business! Not yet. She sat down across from Anahita and grinned. "I don't know about yer sweet self, but I ain't had anythin' ta eat yet. Got plenty o' room an' plenty o' time fer savorin' a meal an' a few drinks." She looked over to wave at one of the servers standing by the bar. Time to make this place a little more interesting! "An' always plenty o' time fer talkin'."
