Quote: Static Plea (5) - With Halloween just around the corner, television stations and streaming services are constantly playing various spooky themed movies and episodes of your favorite shows. When you sit down to watch something in particular, the screen goes static. You try to change the channel or pick a different show but every one of them is static. If you continue to watch (or attempt to fix the television), an eerie voice comes across the speakers begging for help and warns you that they're coming. No matter what you do or say, they only repeat the same phrases. When you turn off the television and turn it back on again, everything has turned to its regularly scheduled programming. Wezen was standing in that strange way she had when she was truly focusing on something. Stone stiff, eyes unblinking. She was tall, and the window display was lower than would have been comfortable, so the only thing marring her imitation of a light pole was having to bend her neck a bit to look down at the TV.
SInistra watched her for a long moment. She had just spoken to her, asked her a question, but the words fell on deaf ears. This happened, sometimes, and Sinistra still had no idea where she went in moments like this. It was definitely not because what was on the store display was all that riveting: the old school CRT television, there as part of a spooky halloween themed showcase of old products, was simply flashing and showing that weirdly nostalgic snow that came with a bad connection or a stormy night.
Sinistra could not say she had ever experienced it herself, but she had certainly seen it in more than enough movies to know the effect was quite accurate, and the advertisement display was a fun one. She came to that decision in a few moments, after one glance, but it seemed like Wezen would need more time.
"I'm going to... uhm... see if that place we just passed was open, and get some food..." She said, moving away. She knew that Wezen would not move, even if she woke up from her daze, and she also knew the last time this happened it had taken almost the entire night for Wezen to return. While she felt immediately guilty for leaving Wezen standing in front of that TV window all alone, she promised herself not to be long.
Wezen continued to stare, tilting her head to the side. If Sinistra had still been there, she would have realized Wezen was not as deeply in her trance as it seemed.

Halley had felt two signatures and was curiously drawn to them. She stopped when she saw Wezen and well the other had wondered off down the street. She tilted her head as she walked to stand beside Wezen to see what the other was looking at.
A brow lofted as she seemed curious at the TVs "Have they been doing this long?" The snow reminded her of the old TVs that needed rabbit ears and adjusting but the fact it was all of them in the display.
The senshi of superstition was almost curious if they could get into the shop with the TV displays to investigate further but she waited to see what Wezen said about if these had been doing this long. She wondered who the other one was with Wezen while she pondered over the possible scenarios that might need to be run through to fix the TVs or see if it was something more than just a case of needing rabbit ears.

Wezen glanced toward the new voice. It would annoy SInistra to no end to find out that her alien roommate was just ignoring her while watching the snowy television. She was not in one of her trances, though she could easily have slipped into one if she had let her mind go a bit more numb.
"I do not know. I have been here for about five minutes," Wezen said. She had to learn the entire concept of time and keeping track of it, but now that she understood it at its basic roots, she was able to keep basic track of it in her head. Even when she was spacing out, she had a rough idea of how long she was doing it.
She was told most humans had this ability, as well.
"It seems to be a common phenomenon. My roommate was watching one of her seasonally inappropriate marked-hall movies, and it did something similar to this. She became quite unsettled, though, and I was trying to see if I could hear the noises."
Wezen turned, ready to introduce herself, then realized she had already met this senshi before. She relaxed a little, though her face did not exactly reflect it. Still, once she met someone more than once and that initial awkwardness was gone, she felt it was much easier to speak with them without the risk of insulting them. Sinistra tried to remind her it took a lot more time than that to be friends with someone, but Wezen was unsure what that had to do with anything.
"I cannot hear anything," she admitted.

Halley nodded as Wezen spoke about the fact it was probably five minutes but she didn't know how long the TV had been doing this. "Interesting." Halley was curious as she continued to watch the snow and look for an easy way into the shop.
She paused and looked towards Wezen, "You mean like one of those horror movies?" It did seem that could really spook someone if it happened during some horror marathon. This made Halley even more interested in this as it seemed there was noises that came from the snow.
"So the white noise could probably manifest some voices I don't doubt that. It's just the right frequency to carry paranormal sounds but it's usually heard in evps - - er electronic voice phenomenons when you record the white noise with a voice recorder...."
She paused, "Well, I doubt we'll be able to hear anything since we're outside, if the TVs are that loud they would probably fine the shop owner. We need to get inside to inspect the TV's appropriately." Halley stated in a matter-of-factually manner.
"Do we need to wait for whoever was with you? Or did they just pass by?" She wasn't sure about that other power signature but Halley was all for just breaking into the shop and making sure the alarm was turned off after they get in to stop from alerting the police they did break into the store.

Wezen returned the glance she was getting from Halley, tilting her head very slightly. She knew what horror was, of course, and understood the concept as applied to the movies made on this planet, but she was not sure she understood the connection between that and this situation. More than likely, she had just not seen the movie, and had not been exposed to human culture long enough to get the reference.
But it certainly had her interest, if it was indeed that common a thing. She very much liked a lot of the things humans considered strange and unusual.
Of course, she liked all the things they really liked, too: she was very open to Earth and everything it had to offer.
She turned more fully to listen to Halley, immediately enraptured. She only vaguely understood most of it, but that did not really matter. It sounded important and interesting, and it was said with confidence. That was enough to sell her on it. Almost before the question was done being asked, Wezen was shaking her head.
"I know where to find her, and we have our phones if she truly needs me. She is in no danger. Let us find a way to get closer to these televisions, then, and we can explore these electronic voice phenomenon. That sounds like a far more exciting use of my evening. You know much about all of this: is it your specialty? Ah..." she thought for a moment, about what Sinistra called what she had done at the college. "Your major?"

Halley was grinning with excitement ready to see what these TVs had to offer. When Wezen said that she knew where to find the other and they had their phones if either of them needed to be in touch with the other that was enough for Halley.
"Alright, lets go to the back of the store we can probably get in through a window or back door and make sure the alarm is disabled." There was a pause when she heard the question if the topic was her major.
Halley grinned, "Actually yes, they do have college classes on paranormal investigation, I'm also taking a few classes on crime scene investigation and forensic sciences because you never know when a random investigation requires having the knowledge."
"If you're interested, I can see if I can bring you to one of my classes with me to see how they work. I'm sure I could convince the teacher to allow a guest for a day." Halley added as she started to head to the back of the shop, making sure that Wezen was following behind. Thankfully the shop seemed to be a little older so the windows she figured would be their best bet, if not they could try to see if there was roof access. "One of these windows should open fairly easy."

Wezen nodded her head, thinking the other made it sound reasonable. She had no real concept of good or bad, and did not think breaking into this store to solve a puzzle was anything but two people doing what anyone else might do when faced with such a strange thing. Humans liked to think they owned everything, and she was still only barely learning what that actually meant.
The idea that someone owned this entire building, filled with all these different things that they were then trying to get other people to take away, was lost on her.
She was far more interested in this idea of Paranormal things. Not that she could differentiate the Para from the Normal, but it gave her a very tiny glimmer of hope. Her world was nothing but death and suffering, when she looked on it in retrospect, and now she understood that some of the things she experienced there might have been the will of the dead. The entire planet had been haunted, by the people sent there to die. Maybe.
"I am interested," Wezen said, with a stern confidence. She did not know what a 'classes' was, but it sounded like a wealth of very valuable knowledge that she wanted to have. "that seems like a very kind offer, thank you. I would like to accompany you."
She spoke while looking at the window, moving closer to examine it. Nothing seemed particularly well made, and it definitely had the look of age and lack of maintenance. She tried to pry one upwards, knowing that was how they worked, but it did not budge. For a moment, she considered breaking it, but paused to check in with her new human friend that clearly understood this process better than she did.
"Shall I break it?"

Lithiasaur I'll let you choose if she gets the door open. Halley was grinning when Wezen said she was interested in joining her at one of her classes, now just to convince the teachers to allow guest. "Awesome! I'll see when they'll allow you to visit."
She hummed as Wezen had tried a window and it didn't open and paused when the other asked if she should break it. "Oh no, don't break it. If there's an Alarm it'll go off and the police'll show up. We don't want them to come out."
She was looking at the backdoor and pulled out an old gift card, "I hope they didn't deadbolt this." She said as she tried to use the gift card to jimmy the door open. It took a bit but she felt the lock click and she tried to pull the door open.
"Once the door is open there should be a pad inside the door to make sure the alarm doesn't go off if it's armed." She explained to Wezen.

Wezen nodded her head. She would be excited about the prospect of learning more from this class thing, but was either hiding it or it was just not a strong enough feeling for it to penetrate the iron wall of her blank expression. Even so, she made sure to lock the promise away, to remember it and share with Sinistra so she could write it down on the large board she kept on the refrigerator.
A calendar, where she made sure to write things down so she could spare herself the brain space of remembering it, and reference it later. Wezen was puzzled by the idea of not being able to remember simple things like what one wanted to do on a certain day, but her mind was wired in a completely different way to most humans.
She had never needed to schedule anything before. There was nothing to do. No one to see. Nothing but the one purpose she was put on her planet to do, until she could no longer do it.
"Should I break the pad?" Wezen asked, hopeful and just wanting to help in their small adventure. The door opened with Halley's efforts to unlock it without doing harm to the door itself, though Wezen did not subscribe to that philosophy.

Halley stopped when the door opened and Wezen asked if she should break the pad. The other walked over towards the pad, "No, no - there's a button on it to disarm it." She said as they walked over and she showed the other where the pad was and booped the disarm button.
She chuckled, "Though if there wasn't a disarm button, breaking the pad would probably work too!"
She headed towards the TV's in the front, "Lets go see whats up with these TV's and see if we can figure out if something's possessed them or if there's something more to this."
She hummed, "The TV's though we may need to dismantle one to see what's up with it so don't drop the idea of breaking something."

Wezen watched, looking disinterested despite actually being quite the opposite. This was not the sort of thing she had done before, though she did not realize it was because her roommate, and moral compass, would never be seen breaking into anything. Let alone so gleefully. But the mystery of the television sets seemed to perfectly warrant the steps they were taking to investigate things and her roommate always told her to do what she could to solve problems.
Wezen followed Halley dutifully, and without hesitation, waiting for her next direction. She could almost hear her roommate calling to her, telling her to stop and offering her a long winded explanation of what she was doing wrong, and what could be done to correct things. Almost.
Actually.
"What are you two DOING?"
Sinistra was speaking in a hissed whisper from the doorway they had left open, hugging herself tightly because she did not want to touch anything in what she was sure was now considered a crime scene. They were, after all, breaking and entering. And what? Stealing a television!? She had barely turned her back on Wezen for a moment, and only because it seemed safe to do so. She should have known the other would get into trouble almost immediately. That was her special power.
And the haunting thing, but mostly causing trouble.
"We need to leave. Now! Before we get into trouble, or break something!" The Super Senshi of Brooms insisted, though she refused to raise her voice. Wezen regarded her with her infinite patience, as usual, then turned to look at Halley for her thoughts.

Halley heard the newest arrival hissing at them and she turned looking at her suddenly deadpan. "There's something wrong with the TV's. You saw that right?"
Being scolded for trying to investigate the cause of the issue was not Halley's idea of a good time however; "We're trying to see if it's paranormal or if it's possibly something chaos related."
Halley preferred to the believe the first, but had the Senshi of Brooms introduced herself differently Halley would've left it at Paranormal investigation. "There's no alarms to activate. We shouldn't break anything unless it is youma related."
Halley paused, "You should come help too, the more of us there are to look into the cause of this, the faster we can get out of here." Halley stopped a moment and turned around so she could face Sinstra "I'm Halley by the way, Sesnhi of Superstition!" There was a grin and a wink before she turned back around to go to the front of the display.

Sinistra looked mortified, though she was momentarily torn between a strong desire to help with the problem, and her lingering desire not to break rules. Wezen, obviously, had no qualms about anything, watching her roommate passively and letting whatever struggle the humans were enduring sort itself out.
"I..." Sinistra gasped, torn once again. She did love to help others, but this seemed like it was too far across the line than she was willing to toe. She was distracted from her worry and thus brightened a bit when Halley introduced herself, glancing at Wezen. "Oh. I'm Sinistra, Senshi of Brooms. But. Uh. Wezen isn't from here, and I am sort of, uhm. Trying to teach her not to do things like... like break into buildings."
Wezen regarded Sinistra, but was not offended by the implication that she would copy what she was taught at another time. And probably for far less of a reason. Her ability to determine what would and would not upset humans was limited to only a few examples, so far. Though from this conversation alone, she understood most humans probably locked those doors for a reason.
It was a good learning experience, at least.
"We are inside now," she motioned to Halley, moving toward her. "We should complete the task. Then we can close the door again, to calm Sinistra."
Sinistra, for some reason, did not look mollified, but nodded her head. Wezen moved toward the televisions, though now she was unsure if anything seemed out of the ordinary. She could not hear what she had before.

Halley looked at Sinistra as she was struggling with what was going on. Halley looked thoughtful when Sinistra was talking about not breaking into buildings, "Well. . . what about if someone actually needs help?"
Sinistra's moral compass about break ins were different than Halley's granted, the senshi of superstition would go into abandoned buildings, that also she wondered if it was different to Sinistra maybe they could get together and talk about it. She smiled when the other perked up and also introduced herself.
"Nice to meet you Sinistra, Brooms? That sounds like a fun power!" Halley had ventured forward as Wazen did and the other was correct Halley was squinting looking at the TVs, "Yes we'll finish the task and close the door, I should also be able to lock it back."
It looked like the TVs in the window had started playing the same program, though it wasn't the static that was there earlier. "Hm that's weird they all that static on them." Halley was curious and wanted to know what was behind the static. She was looking to see if one of the TVs still had the static playing and looked crossed over the fact it wasn't.
She looked towards Wazen, "I wonder if we needed someone to watch it from the outside until the other could've gotten inside." She crossed her arms thoughtfully. "If it's caused by a youma or a paranormal spirit is it jumping through TVs? Looking to attack someone?" Her concern was because Wezan had mentioned it'd happened before on her roommate's TV and Sinistra having been upset was good enough reason to have wanted the issue to continue until they'd gotten in and looking at the TVs.
