He had just arrived back in Matori the day before from a long fishing trip that Kechiri had been escorting him with the Sea Wasp. He was so grateful that he had had the idea for a pirate defense, perhaps a tad expensive but it insured that his small fleet could keep fishing in areas where others might have been more opportunistic with their dealings. One ship was one thing, a ship escorted by a privateer was something else entirely. Kechiri was hungrier than most pirates too, which added to her infamy and fame.
She had saved him already in a few scuffles where the rag tag group of sea dogs ran with their tails between their legs off his fishing grounds and back out to Great Sea where they belonged. Good riddance. As well as good practice for the Sea Wasp and crew. It morphed each time she landed in port between crew and crew/family members. Ultear was usually on board but not always, Kellye's presence was somewhat shotty, his land legs were itchy he wanted to explore inland. The Mom or Dad came occassionally, but sometimes it was just Kechiri and an unrelated crew. She seemed to handle it just fine, she had both people skills and power as well as no small streak of leadership. He was happy that she had his back. Now it was time for some shore leave. He had a big catch to process and then he wanted to see Onora very badly. He always missed her but it was indeed getting harder and harder to do distant long hauls when his heart insistantly told him he needed to be closer to home. She was the sun on the sea of his life. With her, colors were brighter and the world made more sense. He felt a deep bond with her and he was so happy to have that in his life. He simply adored this woman. He could nearly hear her voice on the wind now, calling his name, telling him about her new recipes and his heart sped up a bit at the thought. He quickly dealt with the catch and then showered and went to bed. The next morning he woke to a surprise. His crystals which littered his body in pleasing patterns had actually changed color. Was this a fancy sea curse perhaps? He sat back and stared into the mirror, quite stunned. Crystals didn't change color without very rare special potions, and he had never even seen one never mind used it on himself. He sighed, was it the gods? What was happening? And what was with all the pollen here?
Eventually he got the news from some local Matorians about the trees and the pollen spree and that more than just he had indeed experienced weird color changes. Indeed a few familiar faces sported different coloration entirely. He sometimes wouldn't recognize them right away unless they called his name so he knew that he knew them. It was startling indeed. What about Onora had she changed? Why when she was perfect? He sighed, he was so very twitterpated, he could not help it. She was his other half, it was as simple as that. He sighed and shook his head at all of this color changing nonsense. At least for him it had just been one thing and not everything changing all at once. Apparently it was the trees acting on anyone with earthling blood, no doubt the great trees thought it was a celebration, he smiled a little at the consternation among everyone touched by the magic and he imagined also those who thought they should be touched with the magic but had not been. Well that was most amusing to think about. He had liked how he had looked before, but at least his crystals were not too different and they were now a rather attractive very dark blue that he rather liked.
He hoped that Onora would like them too, though not much had changed so he wasn't very worried, he knew she loved him for more than just his good looks but it was a shocking change for him. Welp, no sense beating around the bush, he set off for her house to find her and just show her what those pesky trees had done to him and tell her about the news in town. Being full blooded earthling there was a chance that she had also been affected by the trees exuberant pollen spree.
