NOT THE FIRST ROLL MADE A MISTAKE.
Nairobi had just finished her shift at work. She looked around the almost empty library and sighed. It was a semi busy day. They had three events going on and the library was full of screaming kids and adults. The crochet class was there, and they had craft day for kids and the monthly book had also been that day. She finished cleaning up the mess at the kids had left after art class and said goodbye to the other librarians and clocked out.
She decided to do some patrolling for a bit.
It was a breezy night. Since finding out about Destiny City and the crazy and scary stuff that happened here she had been full alert. She was not going to let anything bad happen to the people living there.
She was walking around the park when something in the grass catches her eye. She went up to it and looked it over. It was just a dice. A regular 6 sided dice. People sometimes play dice games at the park. Someone probably lost it.
The dice however was not like regular dice. It seemed to be made of old, stained wood with fossilized opal throughout the whole piece.
"How strange looking."
She didn't know why but she felt the need to pick up the dice and roll it.
As she picked up the dice, Nairobi felt a sudden shiver down her spine. She paused for a moment, trying to shake off the strange feeling that had come over her. She looked around to see if anyone was watching her, but the park was deserted. Nairobi shrugged her shoulders, feeling silly for being spooked by a mere dice, and decided to roll it.
The moment the dice rolled out of her palm, Nairobi felt a strange energy emanating from it. As soon as it hit the ground, a bright light emanated from it, blinding Nairobi momentarily. She shielded her eyes with her hand, trying to make sense of what was happening. When the light faded, she opened her eyes to see that she was no longer in the park.
Nairobi found herself in a dimly lit room filled with ancient artifacts and strange symbols etched onto the walls. The room was eerily quiet, and the only sound she could hear was the sound of her own breathing.
She looked around her confused.
"Where am I?"
Looking down she saw a line of squares unwind in front of her, each clearly marked. They looked like a gameboard of some sort and the dice that she had rolled were in her hands.
She couldn't move from the square that she was on. It was like an invisible force was stopping her.
She looked at the dice in her hands and wondered what would happen if she rolled it again. She threw the dice and watched as it rolled on the ground.
It landed on side 5 and rolled over to square 5 on the board.
