Quote: Bat Behemoth (2) - Construction, deforestation, typical Destiny City mishaps–you never know what you’re going to get around here. It starts with a squeak in the sky, and the flapping of heavy wings. If it’s dark enough, maybe you don’t even see the giant bat descending on you. They were pests a few years ago but seemed to have cleared out for the most part–except for a stray one here or there. This one is large even by comparison. It has an eight foot wingspan–a behemoth, growing fat and large in the years since the bats last descended on Destiny City. Maybe you’re lucky, maybe it just swoops by. Maybe it’s hungry, or mad, and you look like a prime target. If it attacks, you’re in for a rough time. Scratches cause an itch that might last for up to a day, but the bites are the worst. Being bitten by these bats leaves two small marks that will itch for a few hours. Then, exhaustion and fatigue sets in and you become extremely sensitive to external stimulus; skin feels like it becomes overheated in sunlight, bright lights are painful to the eyes, and smells and sounds can seem overwhelming. The victim will feel constantly cold and hungry, no matter how much they eat or drink. They may also be prone to agitation and bouts of violence. These afflictions may last only a few hours or a few days and then suddenly disappear. (Being attacked by the bat can be counted as a battle once per character provided there are at least two powered characters involved; no matter how much you seem to damage the bat, it will always fly away and hardly even seems worse for the wear. You cannot track it or severely damage it. This prompt can be used for the battle or the afterwards of being attacked, or anything else you might be inspired to play!)

Silistra wasn't sure she wanted to go patroling but then again she kinda did, it was fall and she liked fall but this was Destiny City and there was no telling what would happen when she went out there she did however want to find anyone who needed her help. So that was how she found herself in this park with its scattering of trees. The city had cut down many trees to build new structures and she wasn't surprised by the unhappy creatures she had come across in recent months.
She hadn't noticed anything yet, then again she hadn't noticed anything the last time there was a person in a tree throwing pinecones at her. They had been a very unfriendly sort and she had left them as quickly was she was able to. After all, it was cats you were supposed to get out of trees not people throwing pinecones right?
She sighed and shook her head she really wasn't a people person. She heard a noise and she turned to try to see what it was but it was too dark with the light nearby being broken to see what was making the sound. She rubbed her arms in a nervous gesture but stayed quiet to try not to draw attention to herself.

Sinistra knew the comments about how appropriately themed her outfit was would be starting to come in full force now, as the month wore on and the orange and black became more rampant through the decorations and theming around town. At least Wezen, with her scary sphere, did not reflect anything specifically Halloween in her outfit.
Of course, that was probably because her planet did not have things like celebrations, but when did space magic care about something like that?
Wezen was quiet, walking alongside her senshi roommate, and dearest friend, while keeping an eye open from trouble and her senses searching for nearby auras. She did not distract herself with things like conversation, unless Sinistra prompted her and was able to drag out a topic the alien was interested in. Otherwise, she preferred the silence. Sinistra did not mind it, and did not take offense to it, having grown accustomed to the creepy quiet way Wezen moved around.
It was still a little surprising how someone so tall could be so light on her feet, without any kind of training or even vague familiarity with dance.
Wezen turned abruptly and walked off, causing Sinistra to yelp when she realized she was on her own after a few steps. She hurried after the Deep Space Senshi, catching up to her just as she was approaching someone else. A knight, by the looks of it.
"Hello," Wezen said, sticking out her hand stiffly in expectant greeting. "I am Wezen, an alien visitor to your planet." She had not noticed the way the other person seemed to be very tense, nor did she seem to be aware that her suddenly saying something could be frightening for someone already on edge.
Sinistra prepared an apology as she closed the gap between them.

Silistra screamed when she was caught off guard and then she heard branches breaking and the sound of wind coming in their direction. She was not surprised that something was coming at them and she had no words for the weird introduction that had hit her right in the face. She couldn't yet tell what was coming at them but she knew something was coming. She looked at the person who had loudly declared themselves an alien. "Umm we should be running I think.. but if we stay here.. umm.. umm.." She fumbled over her words she wanted to run away but she wasn't sure what to do now that she had another person with her she didn't want to leave them here to get hurt so she stood there like an idiot.

"Running?" SInistra asked, as she came to a stop near the duo. She had just been running, but she quickly realized why the suggestion was an important one. She saw something, a shadow belonging to something larger than she would have liked, moving above them.
"Oh, you're right. We should be. Wezen, let's go!"
The alien looked at the two humans, frowning in confusion for a moment before turning her otherwise bland face toward the trees that they were looking at. Really, she wondered how she had missed it before. It was massive, now that it had spread its wings and dropped from the branches that must have been concealing it. It had already wheeled over them once, but it was clearly attempting to get a good angle to dive at them from.
"Cute?" Wezen asked, looking at Sinistra and then the knight, having seen other similarly fluffy looking animals being regaled as such before. This one had the same kind of long snout and soft features that made her think of a dog. Except when it opened its mouth, it revealed vicious looking fangs, and its nose was a little strange.
"NO. RUN!" Sinistra yelped, taking Silistra's arm and tugging her along while hoping Wezen would listen and follow suit. "What is that thing?! Was it chasing you? Are you okay?"

If it had been smaller perhaps Silistra would have agreed it was cute and fluffy, but as things stood she was terrified but it would seem the other figure that showed up had more sense as they grabbed her and they ran away from the huge creature. "Well, I was startled by them, and then startled that." She pointed in the direction the creature was still likely to be. So far no one had gotten hurt which was a good thing. "I suppose we should just leave it alone and try to tell others to avoid this area.. perhaps it will go away in the winter." She said softly. Then again in this city for all she knew it would just put on a Santa hat in the winter and still swoop around attacking people. She sighed and then said "I'm Silistra squire of Saturn." She wasn't much for social things but she would at least try.

"It might attack others! I would hate for civilians to be in danger if we don't act... but I don't know how strong a monster like that might be. And it's so huge! I've never seen anything like that! Is it a youma?!" Sinistra was panting as she spoke, running. She could hear the giant, heavy beating of leathery wings behind them and knew they were being chased.
She could only hope Wezen was behind them, as well, or had at least gotten away and the beast was just not interested in her. Dread settled in the back of her mind as she considered there being more than one of those things. Why did it have to be so creepy?
Halloween was the worst, sometimes.
"Sinistra, Super Senshi of Brooms. Oh! I know! I can knock it out of the air. Maybe it can't fight on the ground?" She skidded to a stop, throwing her hands up to summon her broom. It appeared, but the bat creature crashed into her and they both tumbled to the ground.
Wezen caught up to them, and saw Sinistra struggling with the bat helplessly. She tilted her head, then looked at Silistra.
"Can you help us to fight it?"

Silistra nodded in agreement she didn't want anyone to get hurt either. "Yes you are right, but normally these creatures can't be destroyed for whatever reason, and they seem to often not be youmas, but I suppose creatures affected by the strange magic of the city, your guess is as good as mine." She paused in her words to catch her breath as they ran and then said "At least that was how it seemed with the bear and the giant bug." She turned and said "I'm a healer, but I do have the powers of a squire so I can try to help fight it."

Wezen looked puzzled. Normally? Couldn't be destroyed? She had been under the assumption it was the same as the other youma she had faced before, which turned to dust once they had taken enough damage. While this thing did not look particularly normal, she also had to note there was not a strong thread of unity between the other monsters, either.
It was unfair to expect her to know the difference, and she wanted to treat them just the same.
Sinistra let out a yell and swung her magical broom, a gust of wind sending the beast to the sky. She got to her feet, looking a little battered and woozy, and Wezen found herself hurrying to her side. She motioned for the knight to follow, as the bat thing circled above and considered its options.
"A healer? Then perhaps you can tend to my roommate. I will chase this thing off."
"Wezen, no," Sinistra said, but she was in no position to argue. She was bleeding from scratches, though they did not look too deep. Wezen turned to look for the bat, but the thing had already flown away, leaving the alien blinking in wonder.
"I suppose that makes this easier."

Silistra nodded and went to Sinistra she had noted in her head that their senshi names were similar but she didn't know if it was the right time to bring it up but then again perhaps it would distract her patient and allow her to bind the wound. She smiled a little and said "I noticed our names are similar I thought that was interesting, I'm Silistra if you didn't catch it before." She channeled her magic making her lamp burn brighter and bandages uncoiled from around the handle of the lamp and wrapped around Sinistra's wounds helping them to heal faster. She felt the pain of the wound as she always did but she didn't let it bother her she was used to it. Squire: Lit oil lamp Silistra’s oil lamp flares brighter when she channels her magic; the bandages around her staff uncoil and magically wrap around a target of her choice. The bandages will gravitate towards any injury and tightly bind them. Once binding an injury, the magic will begin to accelerate the healing. At this stage, the magic can heal small wounds (such as small cuts, gashes or bruising) fully if at least half her magic pool is spent on any one target. Larger injuries will have increased recovery but even if she uses her full magic pool she will not be able to fully heal them. Her magic comes with a price; for as long as she is casting, she will feel the pain of whatever injury she is healing. This does not cause real damage to her, but the sensation is uncomfortable. She has a magic pool of 30 seconds and can only heal one person at a time.

Sinistra offered her a thankful smile. She knew the other was trying to comfort her, but Sinistra was exactly the kind of person who liked that sort of thing and was more than happy to allow herself to be comforted. She leaned on Wezen, who looked vaguely puzzled, as she nodded her head.
"It's pretty close, isn't it? That's funny. Hopefully Wezen doesn't follow you home, instead."
"I can tell the difference between you visually, though your names being similar is strange," Wezen argued blandly, blinking and looking at Silistra dubiously. She would most likely not follow the other home in confusion, but now that Sinistra had said it she was wondering if such a thing happened among humans. Did they get confused simply because they had similar names? How did they ever keep track of their young, if that was the case?
Sinistra breathed a soft sigh of relief, though the scratches had not been too bad to begin with. It was nice to get them treated, and she chuckled, patting Wezen on the arm lightly. It was obviously a touch Wezen was used to, that told her she was misunderstanding something. Wezen frowned, intense expression only growing more dour.
"I do not understand humor," she said, then returned to the matter at hand. "Thank you for tending to my roommate. Your magic is very useful."

Silistra smiled a little and she nodded, then she laughed nervously she had enough room, but she wasn't much of a people person to have people randomly following her home. It took her a bit to get that Sinistra was just joking. "I don't always get humor either." She said with a sigh "Not everyone is good with social cues and jokes so it's understandable." She said softly. "Think nothing of it, I'm just glad I was able to help a little."

If Wezen were capable of making expressions, she would have looked relieved. It was good to know that even humans struggled to understand each other's humor, sometimes. She had become aware that some humans most definitely employed the tactic of making jokes a lot more than Sinistra did, though Sinistra seemed to be particularly bad at coming up with whatever others considered a joke, anyway. That was probably why she was not the best teacher when it came to helping Wezen recognize it.
Basically, Sinistra was just not funny.
At least not on purpose.
Terribly embarrassed now, realizing she had managed to confuse everyone around her with her innocent joke, she shook her head apologetically. "Uhm. Well. That's alright. I should just leave the stand up to the comedians, ha!" She smiled, and then quickly pressed on when she saw Wezen opening her mouth to argue. "A-anyway, we should probably go. It's been... sort of a crazy evening, all of a sudden."

Silistra nodded and said "Yes I very much agree it has been a crazy evening, and I think your humor will be of someone's taste." She said with a gentle smile. "After all everyone has a different sense of humor, so someone has to find you funny as well." She said with a nod. She was terrible in social settings always feeling awkward. "Anyway let's go before we end up in more trouble." She looked around nervously.

MiddyGlow FIN, thanks for waiting so long Sinistra nodded her head, moving to head back the way she felt she had come. Thankfully, the bat seemed long gone by now, and though Sinistra was feeling strained and uncomfortable, she was not as bad off as she could have been. It was a good thing they had found an extra hand, after all, though she doubted Wezen truly understood how thankful they should have been.
Or maybe she did, in her own way. She was sticking close to Sinistra, and kept glancing at her. Her expression was unreadable, as always, as it did not exist, but Sinistra had to wonder if she was a little worried. It made her heart warm, thinking the other might be learning about friendship, and was finally beginning to understand that was what they were.
If only it did not take crazy attacks and bat monsters to trigger little reactions like that. Maybe it would get easier in time.
When it came time for the group to part, she waved her hand at Silistra.
"Thank you again for your help! I hope your night improves. I think I'm about done patrolling, for now," Sinistra laughed, and Wezen solemnly nodded her head, lifting a hand to echo Sinistra's stance, though she failed to wave it. The two wandered off, and Wezen reached to take Sinistra's hand in hers, as Sinistra often did when she thought Wezen was going to get into trouble or wander off.
