((Set the night of August 30 - The Super Blue Moon))

Antares held the necklace up, the red stone flashing in the moonlight as the pendant slowly spun on the golden chain. She had spent quite some time just studying it, trying to understand the carving around the stone and processing what she had ‘remembered’ that day she had found the necklace at her homeworld. It had taken a bit for her to fully understand what she had witnessed and the information it had provided her. So much had been lost in the haze of time, the fuzziness of the memory, and her own shock. Never had she had a full on out of body memory like that. Flashes, yes. Deja vu, most definitely. But what felt like a complete movie situation? No. That was completely new. She honestly wasn’t sure how she felt about it at all.

Just like she wasn’t sure how she felt about this necklace. But she also wasn’t able to give up the very prospect that it represented… not with Nate’s… no, Sigiriya’s injuries still fresh in her mind. He was all healed, sporting a small scar from the intubation, but overall whole and hearty. But Antares remembered. She remembered sitting at his hospital bedside listening to the steady beep of the various machines. Still remembered his bruised face and broken body as it lay there under the harsh lights. And still dreaded her phone ringing with an unknown caller when he was out.

Was this what it was like for spouses in high risk jobs? For the girlfriends or boyfriends left at home while their significant other runs into a burning building? Or into a gun fight… or into a war. Was this how her family felt when she jumped into scuffles with youma or negaversers?

“Anne?” The nickname drifted in the darkness. Sigiriya finished up with his stretching and walked up to the senshi, absently glancing at the necklace she had been observing. “I thought we were going to go patrolling? Is there something up with that thing?” The piece of jewelry had been something she had brought back from her home planet. Man, even just thinking that way still threw him. He had been to space! Space! It was unreal! Granted pretty much everything he was currently doing was just mind boggling.

Not only was he learning to fight but he was also learning about his new abilities and skills. Like he could apparently go to his own place in space, he hadn’t yet because of everything going on but he could! It was all still mind blowing but after spending several weeks unable to do anything but study and learn Sig felt much more mentally prepared, if not physically, to handle this whole ‘War’ thing.

The blonde senshi let her arm drop, catching and winding the necklace and chain into her hand, even as she focused on the young man standing there clad in purple and gold. Sigiriya… Sig. He was never meant to be a part of this nonsense. Should never have been in danger. Would never have been if not for her. The guilt tightened in her even as she shook her head. “We will but first,” she patted the low brick wall she was sitting on. Silently urging him to sit next to her.

Once he settled down Antares sighed and leaned against him, her head resting against his shoulder, it was rather uncharacteristic of her but ever since his brush with the dangers of being a knight she had felt the need to make sure he was ok via touch. A simple brush of her fingers against his or a tap of her shoulder to his. The feel of his body heat, the knowledge that his heart was still beating. That he was still there. Safe. Whole. Healthy.

Quote:
Sig ignored the cold brick under his backside as the blonde woman leaned against him. It was a miracle and nothing on this planet would make him move her. Logically he understood that it was a physical manifestation of her worry and protectiveness but he wasn’t about to look a gifted horse in the mouth. It had taken him years to get her comfortable enough to accept his confession and that one night that resulted in their child. He still thought that one magical night had once been impossible and if it wasn’t expected to be their last night together he didn’t think it would have happened. But it did and their beautiful baby girl, who was currently sleeping at her aunt's house, was the only reason she hadn’t kicked him out of the city.

So if it took him nearly dying to get Antares to realize she at least had more than just passing feelings for him, he was not going to argue. Not if it meant he could stay here like this, with her practically snuggled up next to him, under the bright silvery light of the full moon.

With a sigh of his own, one of happiness and comfort, he leaned his own head against hers, and just breathed in contentment. Happy at where he was and who he was with. Nothing would have made him happier.

They sat there like that for a little bit, Antares just sitting there watching the moonlight playing across the ground and absently running her thumb over the etchings on the necklace. After a while she took a deep breath and sat up, “We really should go. We shouldn’t stay in one place too long just in case. But first,” She followed the motions that her past life did, a motion that she had practiced several times already, and popped open the back of the pendant revealing a blank golden surface. Nothing at all mystical looking about it and yet soon it would transform into what is basically a GPS tracker. Just not as fancy or as complicated.

“Here, put your thumb right here for a moment.” The blonde urged her companion, nodding in satisfaction when he did so. She explained what she understood about what she was about to make, even as she took back the necklace and closed it. A tilt of her wrist just flooded the face with the bright moonlight, the red gem quickly flaring brighter. The whole pendant warmed and before Antares counted to ten mentally both the warmth and the light faded. She honestly wasn’t sure just how long it was going to take so she was understandably skeptical when she opened the back up once again, expecting nothing to have happened. But she was pleasantly surprised to see the small little token with the fingerprint etched onto it.

She tipped it out onto her palm, noting the simple symbol on the back, and passed it to Sig. “Keep this on you at all times. Use it when you're in danger. Promise?”

Sigiriya reluctantly shifted slightly when Antares did, he would much rather remain sitting there like that for much much longer, regardless of how the cold brick under his butt hurt. “Alright,” Sig didn’t hesitate when offered the opened pendant, he trusted Antares implicitly, and pressed his thumb into the blank surface. He had no idea what to expect but what came next had him gaping slightly. The whole thing seemed to light up like some kind of LED toy. It was rather fascinating. “How does it do that?” His question was ignored, or maybe not heard since they were both pretty focused on the piece of jewelry.

He absently registered Antares explaining about what was about to happen. Something about a tracking token and emergency beacon. Sig didn’t quite get it but he understood enough, at least for now, so when Anne’s deft fingers opened the necklace once more he gladly took the offered token that had been produced. “Should I test it?” At her nod he did just that, pressing his thumb into the etched print. Green eyes widening slightly when the necklace, still in the senshi’s hand, started to glow red. “Bloody hell… now that's convenient!”

Sig smiled as he put the little golden coin away, watching as the necklace stopped glowing. “Guess I’ve finally got my own AirTag… an AntaresTag.”

Quote:
Antares snickered and slipped the necklace on, the pendant seeming to sit heavy on her chest. It was an absolutely horrid name and definitely not one she was going to use but it did explain what those little tokens were. She honestly didn’t care what they were called as long as they were useful. That's all that mattered really.

To help her family. To protect her loved ones.

It might not be a lot but it was something and every little thing helped when it came to this batshit crazy war. Speaking of which, “Come on… let's get your training started.” With that she got up and urged Sig to follow her, choosing to ignore the quiet ‘awww man’ that he let out as he too clambered to his feet. They might not be ‘patrolling’ but they would be traversing the city, and with luck they wouldn’t run into anything that they couldn’t handle together.

He still had a lot to learn and she was going to be damn sure to teach him. No more near death experiences for him, not if she could help it!
