Eujanie liked living out on her parents' homestead a lot. Don't get her wrong, she could probably spend the rest of her life wandering around the area of forest her family had claimed as their own, but it was the lack of people that was starting to get to her. As a kid, it didn't bother her so much - kids thought her dad was cool and were interested in talking to her, and when they didn't she still had her brother to play with.

But nowadays, Valerian was more... independent. And, anyway, she liked talking with people. These days, most of it was done when she and a parent went to Yera to sell or buy things, though, which was... getting old.

So... here she was. In Yera. For the first time. Alone. Her dad would flip out if he realized she'd taken the trip through the savanna to the settlement on her own, with only her mama's old aldabuck for company, but - but! There were people here, from all over - and she'd immediately flung herself into conversation with a couple of Obans, beaming broadly even after they excused themselves, eager to get back on the road again.

She wasn't hugely fond of traveling, really. She thought she would be, but after their family vacation in Belrea to visit she... had just been happy to be home. But this? This was good. Really good.

Would her parents be upset if she just... got a job here somewhere? Like - at the inn! Or the tavern, or - heck, even the general store?

Eujanie huffed out a sigh and propped her arms on the railing of the walkway she was loitering on, just outside the tavern where she'd been chatting up travelers. It didn't seem super promising, did it? Dad would flip out!

Yera was a large settlement, the largest in Tale, and was filled with a mix of Shifters and Leaflings. If one was not familiar with the location, they might find the mass of people overwhelming, and become a bit lost. Especially those from the remote villages deep in the heart of the savannah lands. Sorin, while used to the location, still found himself uncomfortable traversing the city. He was a village boy, no matter when his mother liked to think, and preferred the peace of the farmlands on the outskirts of the settlement to the mass of people and secrets.

No, this place was made for his sneaky brother or glamorous sisters, whereas he knew he was meant to work with the dirt of his home.

Alas, he still needed to go to town and connect with the traders, especially now that he was all but running the farmlands. His father was keen to have one child stick around, and Sorin was built for such work. The locals knew him, found comfort in his easy-going energy, yet he had to be careful. Many warned him of the swindlers and sneaks that would not hesitate to break a deal. That was his weakness, something his father was attempting to teach out of him. Yet he knew he wasn't made for the front of the business, and so he was simply pulling along a small wagon of goods toward an agreed upon trader.

The problem was, he had to cut through the city to do so, and today seemed to be a bit busy for the lumbering leaf-man to swiftly make his way down the road.

As much as Eujanie wanted to spend more time in Yera, she was starting to run out of excuses to stay longer. Descending back to the street level, away from the elevated walkways of the majority of the stores, she slowly started back down towards the stables, where her mom's aldabuck was stowed - when she saw him.

I mean. It was hard not to see him, he was a big lad, and the wagon he pulled clattered noisily, well maintained but laden with goods. The road was crowded though, and most people were happy to mill about, talking and only content to step out of his way when he came close enough that the threat of being run over compelled them to.

Quickening her pace, Eujanie loped to catch up to the man, keeping pace easily, since he was forced to move slowly. "Move aside please! Lets go, friends, big old cart moving through! Watch your toes!" She strode ahead of the cart, keeping her expression bright and friendly, but putting all the power of her lungs behind her friendly warnings.

At first a few older ladies chattering looked at her unkindly, disliking the disruption, but upon seeing the cart they moved aside. Eujanie flashed them a smile and a grateful nod, then spun to the other side of the lane, ushering a few more loitering bodies out of the way.

At first, he didn't suspect what Eujanie had planned, just assuming she was another shopper rushing around him to get where she needed to go. But then she shouted, marching ahead like she owned the place and all but parting people aside with her boisterous energy and direct tone. Blinking, Sorin found himself spouting a lopsided grin at the antics, his shoulders lifting (when had he hunched about) with a renewed energy.

Thanks to her efforts, they had made their way through the path with ease, and finally he slowed himself enough to catch her attention between her posturing.

"This is my stop." He said with a bright voice, curious to see who the conductor was in front of him.

Not the most luxurious task she'd ever undertaken, but also not the messiest. Eujanie didn't hear any complaints from the man pulling the cart, so she continued with her called out warnings until, finally, he called out to her.

It would be simple to just accept his gratitude and move on with her day. But, you see, that wasn't conducive to stalling for time - and besides, she liked people, so she saw no reason to quit the conversation that quickly.

There was still signs of a grin on his handsome face, and Eujanie flashed one back at him without missing a beat, making a show of wiping her hands together, as if dusting them off. "Y'know, if I saw a big cart coming down the road, I'd be more concerned with NOT getting squished by it." Eujanie said with a roll of her eyes. "People are too funny."

When she seemed to recognize that they had stopped, Sorin secured his cart and set it down. He wiped his hands on his work pants, not necessarily dirty but not necessarily the fancy clothing of the rest of his family. And he was content with that - comfort over style, even if his mother desired elsewise. Looking at Eujani for a moment, he nodded in response, "I take pride in not running people over, no matter how much they seem to try to get squished."

He paused a moment, before adding, "I'm Sorin, thank you for your help in parting the crowd."

... She was only human, okay? So when Sorin turned to secure the cart, Eujanie might've enjoyed watching his arms and shoulderblades flex through his comfortable, if fitting clothes. She did her best to look innocent when he looked at her once again though; only to toss her head back with a bark of unladylike laughter at his joke. "Tempting though it is, huh?" She returned with an impish grin. "I'm Eujanie. D'you need help on your way back out?"

Her laugh was loud and boisterious, and he noticed a few people glance over. Though it didn't really bother him, considering he had the same type of energy and they often would look at his hulking frame.

"Eujanie." He repeated softly, more for himself and to himself, before he considered her question, "Not particularly. I'm unloading things here..." He trailed off, glancing at the trader who slinked forward with a large smile.

This was someone new, and he felt a bit uncertain at the look. Was this someone he could trust?

A girl could get used to a nice looking boy saying her name like that. But! Eujanie hurriedly waved off those thoughts, and focused instead on her offer to the friendly man. Stalling. She was stalling going home, and an excuse to stick around a while longer was fortuitous, if nothing else. Or... would have been, if he actually needed the help.

It was as clear a signal that he was thankful, but needed to work, and Eujanie was ready to shrug it off and carry on her way - until the entire easy friendliness of the man shifted to discomfort.

She didn't really understand what had made him nervous, but it was clear she should stick around, at least for a minute, to see how this all panned out. "Well, I'll just give ya a hand in unloading then, shall I?" She moved around to the front of the cart, eyeing the new person curiously as she slowly reached into the cart, slow enough Sorin could interject and make her stop if he had a mind to.

"Oh...sure! You know on the farm we never take an extra pair of hands for granted." He said with a chirp, smiling brightly, before directing Eujanie to where they needed to uload things. It would have been quick with just him, but having the extra hands made things that much more efficient. Before he knew it, they were done unloading.

"You have a knack for this thing, have you worked on deliveries in the past?"

A farm huh? That explained where all the produce and things were coming from, but she'd almost pegged him as someone who just transported the stuff. He was a big boy, after all, so physical labor seemed like his forte, and yet the mental image of him painstakingly cupping a fragile little plant made her instantly feel fond for the guy.

Then again, crushes weren't anything new for her, so she didn't take it too seriously, even if that bright smile made her stomach squirm with butterflies.

She was no dainty lady, and had inherited some of her father's frame, so she heaved what she could carry without risk of dropping things, and between the two of them they finished.

"Just back home." She responded, somewhat breathless as she wicked a bit of sweat from her brow with the back of her hand. "My da and I bring in loads of stuff to town, and drag it all home every few weeks. Nothing as fancy as this though. Why? You got a job?" She waggled her brows and grinned at him cheekily.
