It’d been a challenging last few days, particularly in the area of work-life balance. Every night was a good night to power up to learn a little bit more about herself in her new identity as the Ekstrom Page, but that usually meant later nights, which led to less hours of sleep, which meant longer days because she was always sleepy. Sort of. Uselessly over-caffeinated was really more the accurate term.
What was that “saying” about substituting caffeine for sleep?
“It's like drinking the blood of a unicorn to stay immortal,” the new Page said out loud as she rounded a corner, smiling and looking very amused. Then, in her best imitation of the centaur (which really wasn’t very good) from the movie , she said, “You will have but a half-life, a cursed life, from the moment it touches your lips.”
She would have laughed a little more if she hadn’t come upon a scene that called forth emotions not unlike the ones she felt when she first watched the scene she was paraphrasing from. A civilian, a young woman, had just collapsed on the ground, and a strange man was standing over her. She felt the aura though, a similar, icky sort of aura that she’d felt from the youma the night she awakened, and she knew this man was likely one of those people.
The Negaverse.
“Hey!” she cried out, tightening her grip on her weapon and running toward the two out of sheer concern for the civilian. “Get away from her!”

Reidite clicked his tongue to the roof of his mouth. He hadn’t wanted to take so much energy that the woman collapsed, but she was at risk of making a scene. If he could get some more energy without having to find another place, that would be better for him.
It wasn’t as though he particularly cared about all this. He just did it because he had to. He unfortunately owed the Negaverse his life. Literally. So it was the least he could do to pay off his debt.
He at least held onto the woman’s arm as she collapsed, setting her up against the wall of the alley. He was going to push a big box in front of her, then alert the next woman he could find that someone had collapsed, but -- oh that was convenient.
“She’s all yours,” Reidite grunted as he took a step back from the collapsed woman as the Mercury page came in hot with a… pan or something. He wasn’t sure, but it looked like it wouldn’t do too much damage.
As a deterrent, he pulled out his own weapon from subspace. Just so she could see that she didn’t stand a chance. And he easily towered over her, anyway, although that wasn’t new for him with pretty much everyone.

It was sort of like getting closer and closer to a building. From afar he looked like he was of perfectly average height and build, not to mention he wasn’t holding a weapon just yet, but the closer she got, the taller he got, and the bigger that mace suddenly looked when he summoned it.
Ekstrom slowly began to realize the small mess she might have just gotten herself into, but there was a swell of pride from within her that kept her from backing down. At least the woman civilian wasn’t in immediate danger, anymore. No, she looked pleasantly asleep in the alley. It wasn’t totally safe, given the horrors she knew all too well that could happen in an alley at night, but at least she wasn’t exactly alone.
She was within a few feet of the agent when she realized exactly how much taller he was than her, but she held on to her stubborn pride and charged in, pan swinging. Even if his attention was now on her, there might be other civilians about. If she didn’t get rid of this guy now, who else could he target?

She was running at him?? Reidite sighed heavily. He wasn’t a fan of blood -- not because he hadn’t had his fair share of injuries, but because it was both unsanitary and a pain to clean -- so he wasn’t looking forward to actually causing grievous injury to this small woman.
He used his mace to at least block the pan that she was swinging at him, also not a fan of bruises. They took too much makeup to cover, and that meant more time wasted when he could be busy with other things.
“Seriously?” he scoffed. He didn’t really have an accent, but in his frustration a little bit of Russian influence seeped into his words. Luckily for the Mercury knight, Charlie had been walking home when she saw the woman being drained. That was bad!! But she couldn’t just power up and jump in without maybe getting caught! And she was trying to be good and not get into a lot of trouble because she knew she wouldn’t always have her friends to save her.
Oh, but what if this pretty young lady didn’t have anyone to help her?
Which was why Charlie climbed up a fire escape and then powered up, so she could drop down from above and land on top of the ridiculously tall agent.
Sort of.
He took a step forward, clearly alarmed by the sudden surge of another aura, so when she landed on him, it was her arms around his shoulders and neck, which jerked him backwards with a lot of hissed curses in a language she didn’t know.
“Quick! Hit him now!” she squeaked, still hanging off the man’s shoulders. Oh. Right. Her feet definitely couldn’t reach the ground right now.

It was hard not to close her eyes when he moved to block her swings with that mace. She managed, somehow, but she might have to sit down and figure out her priorities when approaching an encounter like this in the future. Being brave and courageous were one thing, dumb and careless were another. This felt…well.
When he successfully blocked her attack she was bracing herself for a counterattack when she also felt another aura pop up just nearby. There was a flicker of hope, and before she knew it an angel had fallen from the sky and somewhat subdued the very tall agent.
She was dumbstruck for a moment. “Huh? Hit–oh, right!” And she swung as hard as she could at the agent’s stomach.

“What is wrong with you?” Reidite growled, and dropped his mace so he could reach up and grab hold of the girl’s arms. He was absolutely going to just smush her against the wall of the building, and took a few quick steps backwards to do just that --
Except the other one decided she wanted to attack as well. And hit him in a stomach!
Now he was really angry.
So instead of crushing the knight against the wall, he grabbed tighter to her arms and spun her in a way that meant using her as a weapon, herself.Okay, she hadn’t anticipated the idea of being squished against a building, but she was very glad that her new friend jumped in to attack and save her!
Oh, except now she was being tossed at her!
“Look out!” she gasped as she was thrown off the man’s shoulders, aimed to crash right into the other knight!

There wasn't exactly all that much space between them, so Ekstrom had little time to react to her fellow knight being thrown right at her. She did try, though, to catch her as opposed to simply getting hit. She dug her feet in and steeled herself mere seconds before their bodies collided, and although they slid back several feet and the wind had basically gotten knocked out of her, at least they were still standing.
"They really don't prep you for this kinda thing at the gym," she said as she glanced down at the other knight. "You okay?"
