Hobbies:Orienteering--give Evan a map with some scribbled symbols and he'll happily spend hours navigating through these checkpoints to a final destination. The fewer clues, the better. He loves the challenge of it, and it's made him quite adept at navigating unfamiliar terrain as a result. He participates in local competitions, where he typically places quite well and has a reputation for his direction-sense. His specialty is urban landscape terrain, but being a boy scout for a few years as a kid made him pretty familiar with the woods, too.
Falconry--Evan became an apprentice falconer after becoming enamored with a program his boy scout troop took a day trip to when he was thirteen. Fast forward a few years, and Evan attained master falconer status a couple years back (he will maintain that, since he flies a hawk, he's technically an austringer, but the qualification process was the same). He flies a ten-year-old female red-tailed hawk named Medusa that he raised from hatching as part of the falconry program he was licensed through. He doesn't compete with her, but he does take her out to the woods around Destiny City for hunting fairly often. He mainly takes her kills back home to be butchered and the meat used to feed her later. Skins and furs are usually sold to relevant craftspeople, and he has a regular roster of people he sources for. When out and about the city--especially the parks--where he won't be seen by people with objections, he sets her on pigeons.
Horseback riding--This was another hobby Evan got introduced to through Scouts that stuck far longer than being a Boy Scout did. He owns a horse of no particular pedigree, a seven-year-old red dun gelding named Sullivan who stands 15 hands tall. He often takes Sullivan and Medusa out at the same time to ride trails just outside the city, and it was important to him that Sullivan get accustomed to the motion of Medusa taking off and landing on Evan's gloved forearm while Evan was in the saddle. Evan doesn't show Sullivan in dressage, but does do agility and endurance competitions with him. Because Sullivan's a gelding, he doesn't generally compete in races.
Virtues:Adventurous:: Try anything once? Evan doesn't mind if he does! It's pretty easy to get him to come along for moral support on an errand to a new and (to him) exciting part of town, or a new restaurant. He can be counted on to try risky shots in the dark for solutions that might not work for problems that shouldn't have existed in the first place. He likes to have a good time, however that ends up happening. He maintains that it's better for everyone if they're in on the plan. If they're not in on the plan, he'll just ditch them if possible or try to work around it.
Dedicated:: Evan has his eyes on the prize at all times. He's more than willing to take the time it takes to plan out his course of action to make sure that he gets what he's after. This means that his dedication dovetails fairly neatly with being generally organized. It's all part of the same whole to him. He takes setbacks pretty well because of it, and generally handles disappointment fairly gracefully.
Quick-witted:: He wouldn't be a terribly functional person if he wasn't quick on his feet. Evan is clever and skilled at getting himself out of the pickles he gets himself into. He knows the ins and outs of any relevant law, code, statute, or memo. He pushes his luck, but never so far that he can't recover it, and he always makes sure he knows where that line is--even if it's been shifting the whole time. He's been accused of having a silver tongue, before, but he doesn't really see it as a bad thing.
Flaws:Daredevil:: Safety equipment? PPE? OSHA who? Sounds like a nerd. Evan isn't an idiot, but he's also usually not one to turn down risky stunts, for better or for worse. He's gotten hurt before, sprains and bruises mostly. He doesn't really see anything wrong with a bit of excitement in life--his or others. Yes, he will do base jumping. No he has never done base jumping before. He has two ankles; it'll be fine. His limit is largely where Medusa and Sullivan come into it, because they mean a lot to him and he wouldn't want them to get hurt because he's doing something he knows he shouldn't.
Volatile:: At least, on the surface he appears to take setbacks and disappointment well. Other people around him don't generally see anything else, because he already had one instance of being 'encouraged to quit' from a previous job because of his temper. He knows he has one, and he moderates it to an extent, but he can be snappish and stubborn to deal with even still. He's read all the books on 'healthy anger outlets'. Instead, he funnels it into the high-stress nature of his job, finding it oddly therapeutic in a way to have to administer chest compressions to some patient coding on a stretcher.
Manipulative:: Not only does Evan not see being called a "silver-tongued devil" as an insult, he's almost proud of it. Part of how he always knows where the line is, is because he puts work into making sure he does what he can to control where that line goes. Other people are a means of getting him what he wants, and he swears he doesn't mean anything bad by it. Don't they benefit, too, by getting to feel good about being all helpful? He's doing them a favour! He has a fair collection of friends, and he has them all neatly organized in his mind as to why he's friends with them, and what they need from him in order to give him what he's looking for. If someone catches onto what he's doing, he's annoyed by the inevitable reprimands, disciplinary actions, etc., and makes a mental note to avoid that next time. Because there's always a next time.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTIONEyes: on the wide side of average, light brown
Hair: black, curly but kept short
Face: Evan isn't hard on the eyes, but is overall fairly average-looking, and his face is generally forgettable. His natural facial expression is a cross between neutrality and faint amusement.
Skin Tone: light-skinned with cool undertones
Body Type: average build, with muscle across his shoulders and in his thighs due to all the lifting he has to do in his line of work
Clothes: when not on the job and with nowhere to be, Evan wears rugged jeans, graphic tees, and his favourite denim jacket with blue plaid lining. When he has somewhere to be, he seems to remember that his family does pretty well for themselves; he doesn't take much convincing to dress in a well-tailored three-piece suit.
