He ached, oh how he ached! After being thrown backwards by an explosion that had knocked him unconscious for a few moments. The quaking of the ground and collapsing of the cavern that had housed the Vryhx. He was so ready to go back home and soak in a hot bath. Beowulf smelt of singed hair and burnt fibers that was his clothing. Fire was not his friend, he was lucky his book remained undamaged from this venture. He would have to add the Vryhx into its pages when he had a moment.

Lost within his own thoughts, holding up the holy symbol that he had been given, Beowulf didn't hear Zumei race up behind him. He just about jumped out of his own skin as he turned towards the woman. "Hi.." He gave in response as he loosened up a little, his nerves were on edge.

"It was a fight, could have done with less fire and explosions." He admitted fixing his glasses back into their place on his nose. "I'm good, but thanks for the offer. I didn't bring that much stuff with me... Though seems not too many wanted their candles." This was something he was confused about. Were people that against having the blessed candles that much?

"You did well in that fight though, you and the rest who rushed in." He felt like a coward that stayed mostly in the back of the pack. Trying to stay out of most harms way.

Beowulf chuckled as he rubbed the back of his own head at the mention of his magic. He was not all that sure how to answer that one. He supposed he had a little bit of a natural way with magic, but the most of his spells he had learned. Gripping the strap that held his book he glanced back at Zukei.

"Welll... I suppose I have a small bit of a nack for magic, but most my spells were learned." He said not exactly looking in any particular direction. "I have a teacher that has taught me some things on healing, given she was my village's healer. But I have always had my nose in books, so self taught myself some spells."

He had always been the bookworm, even when he was little he could be found reading. Picking through scrolls of myths and legends, tombs of the arcane and plain history. You name it he might have read it.

"I am just a little disappointed I couldn't have helped better. I am sure there were other things I could have done to make the fight less painful." He shivered remembering all the fire. "Maybe next time I will have a few more helpful spells."

Beowulf looked back towards the mountain they had just been within. He still wondered if the beast was truly defeated. Deep down, he had a feeling that it only retreated and the last explosion was just a means of making them go away and collapsing what shouldn't have been revealed all together. "Do you think it is really gone? Or will it come back again just in a different place and cause more trouble?"

Blush rushed over Beowulf's face as Zumei said that he was just super smart. While it wasn't really that true, there was still a lot out there that he didn't know. Many things that he wanted to explore and discover, either by going to the places or finding detailed books about them. As it stood, he was thinking of leaving the island soon to travel to another region.

"I am only a little bit smart." He corrected, though he wasn't mad about it. He was just a little embarrassed about it. "Lurin knows that there is so much more out there then what I can take in on this island. So much more." He pulled the strange holy symbol from his pocket to look at it.

He had to wonder why this was given to him, he had done so little. The other did more then him. They had healed everyone and kept them all alive for the most part. Shaking his head, Beowulf would have to ask someone later. For now, he could only think of heading home. Turning back towards his new compion he asked, "So where will you be heading to now that the beast has been quelled? And I agree with you, I think it will come back.. Someday at least." Though deep down he felt it was likely not to be soon, perhaps not even in their generation.. He could only hope that the future generations were as strong as they were.

Beowulf looked at Zumei as she spoke of giving himself more credit. Perhaps she was right, he was at times hard on himself. At this moment he felt like he was a let down on the adventure against the great beast in the mountain. He didn't seem to have done all that much, another had helped keep them all upright. He was more the background support that mostly threw ice at the beast. Adjusting the strap of his sketch book he looked towards the trees.

"Perhaps you might be right, there is a lot out there to explore. Maybe I should even branch out further than these shores and towards another region." He pondered before looking back towards Zumei. "I am sure there are some other beasts here that you could fight, but not too much else." He paused as if in thought. "I should return home and see what my teacher has to say about all this. Anyways, I am headed to Pajore, if you would like to accompany me. It's one of the few places to catch a ship back to the mainland." Beowulf offered as he would head there first before heading home further inland.

"Swim?" Beowulf asked a bit surprised. "You do know that there are creatures in the seas that would see you as a good snack right?" He was a bit concerned that Zumei would want to swim. Beowulf himself wouldn't make it to the other shore if he tried to swim. He was very sure that he would cramp up not far out and drown. Shaking his head he looked forward, focusing on where he was walking.

"That beast was a tough one. Certainly had many tricks up its scaly sleeves." he agreed, "I am not sure if I want to meet another one like it any time soon. A nice exploration quest would be more favorable." Adjusting his shoulder pack, he did think something that didn't deal with dangerous creatures would be good. An easy going quest or just exploring ruins and other old places.

At the mention of a bath, Beowulf looked at himself and sniffed at his own clothing before flinching. He smelt like fire and sulfur from the volcano. "A bath would be good. Need to get the cloths washed as well. Don't really want to smell like sulfur walking around town."

Beowulf looked towards Ziumei with concern, was she that serious? One couldn't simply fight their way out of everything... Could they? On land perhaps, but not in water... He was sure that anything that she was going to encounter out there would eat her before she knew what was happening. That was the skill of the sea creatures. They had elements of surprise on their side.

"You would have to get the jump on them before they got the jump on you." he commented, "And there is a lot of space between you and land. Either above the waves and below. Lots of places for things to hide."

It wasn't that he doubted her skills, those were seen when they were fighting the great red beast that had gotten away from them. He doubted that it had actually died. They had just drove it away from the volcano, perhaps just deeper into the earth where it could recover and try again. When the comment of finding a river, Beowulf stopped and looked surprised. While he had done so in the past. He would surely not do so at this point.

"It is not that I am shy." Though the deeper hue of a blush on his face would say otherwise. "I just think finding an inn where there could be warmer water and something to actually scrub the smell off ones skin would be more ideal." Turning his face away from Zunei he continued walking though a few steps behind.
