Party Time!

Nothing about this celebration intimated that it was, in any way, Negaverse-sponsored. And yet, crudely drawn invites were posted in many corners of the Citadel, from the floor containing the General-Sovereigns' offices down to the bathrooms in the common spaces. These posters heartily entreated Negaverse officers to join in on a party that celebrated the death of one of their ex-allies and longtime adversaries, Princess Cybele. It drove the point home with a crude stick figure drawing of her dead body, complete with crosses in its eyes and a lake of red crayon blood all about her.

The poster directed interested attendees to one of the banquet rooms, which had been decorated in mass-produced generic birthday supplies. The available tables were covered in birthday tablecloths that had 'birth' Sharpied out and 'death' written in above it. Some of the shiny polka dots on the free-to-use party hats and other decor had been Sharpied into skull shapes, or repurposed as eyes in a skull's head. At a glance, the decor was tacky and rather on-the-nose, but it soon became clear where any and all budget for this affair was spent.

There was a wide spread of alcohol, largely middle-shelf with some bottom-shelf liqueurs that were generally well-liked, several wines, and mixers of many flavors that an alcoholic would enjoy. While the alcohol presence was expansive, the soft drinks were less so, largely consisting of juices, sodas, waters, and whatever else could be scrounged out of a 7-11. The available food was buffet-style, largely consisting of tacos and every combination of filling, burgers, pizzas, and other cheap but filling foods, particularly if these foods improved by imbibing more alcohol.

A few youma had been recruited to stand as door greeters: one was a talking snake that often lived inside of a hole near its friend's a**, another was a disturbingly large centipede that could do nothing but clack ots claws and wiggle its tail at incomers, and a third looked like an overgrown cross between a parrot and a condor with the ability to speak and hand out party hats.

Faustite had been the first one there, being its organizer, and had already dipped well into the alcohol. A firm blush had spread across his cheeks, though it was unnoticeable on one side due to a heavily splotched bruise and a bandage over his cheek. Part of his eye had swollen terribly, and he walked with a gait that suggested he had sustained several injuries. That hadn't slowed his appetite for alcohol, however; each time he drank, the fire in his stomach flared menacingly, yet that didn't stop him either.

The cups provided were, of course, plastic, so the banquet room smelled of burning plastic by virtue of him being on his third cup. Alcohol was already spilled on the floor, but that hadn't yet caught fire.

Despite the obvious fire hazard this entailed, the youma were under orders to usher in guests regardless. There was no entry fee and the food and drinks were free, after all.

Any Negaverse character is invited to attend! He is just very proud of himself for murdering Cybele ok

Tama stared at the invitation, unsure of just what exactly he was looking at.

There was a stick figure. Some red scribbling. And two crosses. All crudely scratched in crayon.

The Mauvian squinted, as if that would help make the image clearer.

It did not.

Why hadn’t the creator used a computer to print out the invite? Surely, they had needed a copier to make this many? It was two steps more to just type the damn thing. Or, better yet, just use the tablets they all hand. Seriously, why did he even bother all those hours maintaining the tech in this place if no one was going to actually use it?

Well, he supposed all his tech couldn’t have make a drawing quite like that.

So, there was a party because someone — it didn’t specify who — had killed the b***h responsible for ruining the Negaverse bank operation (or, at least, if not responsible for destroying it, making it a s**t show). Well, he was definitely in on this event. She’d made sure he hadn’t gotten a second loan and had to hustle to get the rest of the funding for his project. Her death was nothing but a boon to him and all of them.

Plus, the cat never missed a party.

But when he arrived only Faustite was in the corner. And he looked the roughest he’d seen him since he’d nearly died that one time he became a general-king.

Why did he get here first? Tama moved his hair from dragging the already sticky floor.

“What the ******** happened to you? You look like s**t.”

He started to smile once Tama showed up and spoke to him, but snarling pain in his face and nose taught him to tamp it down and press a caged hand over the injuries. He could only wince with one side of his face without suffering for it. Taking a moment, he set his cup down lest he melt through another one.

"A princess," he explained when the pain ebbed enough that he could hazard speaking. "The one that died."

Still feeling delighted for his achievement, Faustite tried to smile again. And he paid for it again. At this juncture, the better treatment was another swig of alcohol, even if the room was beginning to tilt and ******** killed Cybele, Tama. Should get something for it." A little respect, maybe, or a placard, or Negaverse Officer of the Month, something. Anything. Something he could point to and say that he was doing something right for once, that he might continue to move in a direction that wasn't a downward trend.

Faustite had really killed a princess. He did have the face for it — bruising and a smile. Tama was actually impressed

And maybe a bit of something else, too.

“Well, damn. You need to put that on the invite.”

He looked down to the party hat the vulture youma had handed him. He was initially going to pitch it. But not now.

He put it on Faustite’s head. It would probably burn. But it would work for a moment.

“Yes, you should get something for it. But all I have is this party hat. Works for a crown in a pinch.”

He grabbed a drink and filled it with alcohol. No juice. No soda. Just pure liquor.

“Unless you want something else. I suppose you can have anything you want.”

Jadarite was getting somewhat decadent in her failure. Her perfect record was shattered, and she wasn't sure what to do with the Negaverse afterwards, and while she was trying to think through a way of dealing with it, she also drank wine until her mind went dull more evenings than she didn't.

She had nothing against doing it in public, as long as it was under the banner of being for a party. These days, she wasn't so hell-bent on keeping up appearances, since that was already shattered.

So, she was nearly as thrilled to see the selection as booze as she was to see the terrible drawings of Cybele's corpse.

Actually, she wasn't happy to see the drawings, as the quality of the art made her want to pull her eyes out of their sockets, but she was happy to hear that the one who had decided to sprout wings in the middle of destroying Jadarite's project was no longer breathing.

"You did well, Faustite," she said, on her way to the wine, not lingering, because she knew it was ill-advised to try to separate him from his men, but wanting to offer the congratulations all the same. "That b***h has needed put down for a while."

"Didn't make the invite. Didn't look at it either." Face needed stitches, tacos needed procuring, alcohol needed obtaining — he had his hands full well enough with the rest of this s**t. Probably should've done research on how to throw a proper party, or at least asked Ren, but it was a touch easier to look at the cheap example photos on the front of the packages for the table cloths and party hats to get an idea for decorating. The occasional skulls on the polka dots were just to test his hand dexterity after the fight.

There wasn't anything to offer him, he knew, for eliminating adversaries was part and parcel to his duties during the war. Maybe this party was an excuse to get so shitfaced that he was holding onto the grass to stay on the earth. But he wanted something, and this party seemed like a good start to getting the something that he couldn't even name.

He got a party hat out of it, given by a boy. Or as Boy as Tama qualified for, when he was bipedal like this. He still tried to smile.

It still hurt. He winced again, grunted his pain for making that mistake twice.

The hat would catch fire, eventually, but Tama's commentary roused an idea in him. After taking a swig of his drink, he spoke again in a raspy voice. "Think I have something for that." It had been a while since he received it — since he even thought about it. The thing sat unused in his subspace for the several months following his initial use of it, which came with immediate, debilitating migraines.

Popped into his hand was a series of burning shrapnel shards arranged like a laurel crown. Though his hand shook holding it, he set it on his own head — surprisingly, with no deleterious effects. Maybe the alcohol was doing its job. Maybe the power had faded from it. He didn't know.

But his party hat caught fire from it. Not that he noticed.

His attention shifted to Tama again, tinted mischievous, when the cat told him he could have anything he wanted. "Anything?" He asked, testing the waters.

Even Jada thought he managed something worth achieving. Maybe it brought her some relief, some well-deserved revenge, knowing that Cybele was dead now. Would that he could impart the image of Cybele's ruined chest into her mind, or the way that her gaze went blank and her body went limp afterward. Maybe he'd lend her his bracelet for precisely that memory, if he could get it tampered with enough to be selective like that.

For the third time, in response to her praise, he tried to smile. The pain only ever got worse.

“She did. Messed up the only good place in all of Destiny City. Plus, her arrows hurt.”

Luckily, they were magic arrows or he would have had to once again go to the infirmary with a story.

“I didn’t know they gave you a real crown. Did you get that with your promotion?”

He downed his drink and looked at Faustite’s head. The crown did look good on him. Or maybe it was the burning party hat that made the outfit. Somehow, he had thought it would have lasted a little longer before immolating.

“I did say anything. Have you had that much already that you didn’t hear me?”

He smiled as he poured another.

He had seen the crudly done posters, if you wanted to call them that, it looked like a toddler had been handed paper and crayons and told what to draw. They'd managed it, sort of, but to make up for the lack of information form the picture there was text to go with it - how thoughtful.

Seeing as this gathering was to celebrate the death of Cybele the corrupt senshi had decided to join in, as much he he would ever join in on a social event, but he was still displeased with things. He was glad she was dead, for obvious reasons, but he was displeased with not having been there himself to either assist or watch in the take down of the royal.

With his hands held behind his back the dark haired senshi swept in past the youma at the door, he'd avoided a hat being placed on his head, and took a moment to glance about. The decorations were something out a nightmare, if you asked him, and he wasn't sure if it was because they were out of a small childs birthday party or how the decorations had been...modified. A grimce in place he let his eyes wander to the others in the room, all of three people, and took a moment to assume just what had happened.

It would seem the General King had dealt with the royal senshi, looking at how injured the General King was. Walking over, trailing frost and chill air with him, he tok a moment to eye up the Mauvian before speaking. "I do hope someone took actual pictures of the princesses body, I'd like a copy for my desk." Considering he'd made no secret of his wish to deal with Cybele and now she was dead, at someone elses hands, he was not pleased but he'd take what he could get. The smile which spread across his face as he spoke of the dead royal was no less than preditory, teeth and fangs, there was perhaps even something else there in that smile from him.

He was hoping she'd suffered as well, as she deserved to suffer, he had no love for the royal.

Borax was never one to pass up a party.

... Well. To some degree. It needed to fit his particular brand of hedonism, naturally. Alcohol, of course. Perhaps a masquerade or two. Perhaps a darker one, to mask the activities behind the curtain. His mind was swirling with unnecessary concepts, though; the first category was covered, and he made a beeline for the extensive selection.

"Jada," he greeted, smoothly, plucking up a bottle of one of the finer wines to pour himself a glass. He knew she was taking the loss of the bank particularly hard. To say he wasn't would be a lie, but the way he approached his frustration was different.

First, he got his old job back, with an angle of he had been a CEO. An act of arson wasn't something he could control, surely. Augusta had been doing beautifully until someone thought they could cover up their embezzling. It was a truly terrible thing, but he was ready to bring his experience back to make them all stronger.

Secondly? Well. He was certainly more than keeping his quota. Perhaps he was excelling at it.

Not to the degree his general-king was, though.

"Faustite!" Borax's tone was almost sickeningly smooth. His grin was rakish as he nodded in greeting to Tama and Miyamoto. As he scanned the room, his eyes stopped on the crudely drawn graphics above, and he let out a lofty laugh. "Did Albite draw these? Congratulations, by the way. Knew I threw in my lot with the right people."

He sipped at his alcohol.

"Defeating a princess already as prolific as Cybele is worthy of a night of debauchery for sure."

... Well. For a given value of debauchery, considering the locale and company.

The only good place in Destiny City was a bank? Faustite blinked at the cat. Granted, the bank was Negaverse-owned, and depending on how long he'd been working on his side project, it might've been important to however Tama intended to go about that lounge space. But Faustite knew there were at least a handful of delicious places to eat, or bars where they mixed their drinks strong. None of those places served cats, though — maybe that was the distinction.

"This," he tapped one of the burning laurels, "Wasn't from my promotion. Remember the last Rift mission? Youma made it for me." It had been stranger still to receive it, but it was a poor time to argue about it and refuse a bespoke item just because he didn't agree with Forgemaster's sentiments. "Used to give me a headache whenever I tried to put it on."

Strange of Tama to offer anything, as Faustite assumed it was some kind of Mauvian trap, and thus he wanted to test the limits of such an offer. He didn't want that furry thing in his bed, but — "A kiss?"

Even if Tama was a Mauvian, he was also kind of a Boy, so maybe that would make a difference. He'd have to see. In the mean time, he removed the party hat from his crowded head and was astonished to discover it was already on fire. He crushed it in his hand and tossed it at the nearest waste bin, but failed to make the shot. Now it was someone else's problem.

Then came Miyamoto, who brought with him questions that gave Faustite pause. No, he never thought to take photos of her dead body. It was oft beyond him to do so, both by virtue of him melting the technology and the technology being more difficult for him to use. That was the initial pitfall — he had no proof.

With it came a stream of other tempestuous thoughts, each more damning than the next. He didn't bring her starseed back with him — that was a point of utter ineptitude, no matter the purpose for the fight. He had no evidence that he killed her, for the blood on his clothes couldn't be traced back to her and blood wasn't conclusive of death, either. What if no one believed him, then? What if they thought he was lying about it until he was able to produce proof? It had been days since then; the body had to have been moved. Maybe the bloodstains were still there, but again, they meant nothing. The starseed would've left already, so there was no chance at that. And the body would have lost its powers, yet he didn't stick around long enough for that to happen.

Maybe he was mistaken, then. Maybe he hadn't killed her. What a sickening thought.

For all that he'd drunk, he felt completely sober in that moment. He stared at Miyamoto, unsure what to say. He couldn't think of a witty response or something that would restore some level of credibility or respect to him (not that he deserved any). All he said, then, was "There's no pictures."

Even Borax's cheer hadn't quite reached him, and Faustite could only nod to the praise provided. The questions in his head simmered and stirred, drowning out the possibility of celebration. Let him have his night of debauchery; Faustite may well be spending his in the Rift

It wasn't hard to spot the posters. Considering most of the Negaverse was completed or crystal or some matter of sleek stone, a bright poster stuck out like a sore thumb. At first it looked like someone's art project. Possibly some way to brighten up the place a little, but upon closer inspection, he saw it was a invite. To know he'd find out about a princesses' death this way made him feel as of it might have warranted a little bit of the Negaverse's budget to make a bigger harrah of the whole thing. At least a bigger poster with someone spending some time in Wordart in the Negaverse labs for a hour - at the very least.

Still, message received!

Not having much else to do and certainly feeling this way one of the best reasons to celebrate, he sent a message to his associates and friends to remind them of they somehow missed the posters. Not everyone lived here after all.

With that done, he arrived and gave a very respectable nod to the youma out front. The hat was a struggle with his ears and eventually he was just handed the hat to figure it out on his own. His attempt only had the little band snapping in his claws. Frowning, he slipped it over the top of one ear and wished it the best for however long it could stay on.

The smouldering hat tossed on the floor has his immediate attention, and he sniffed it with the heel of his booth like a cigarette before going over to get a drink. Not having any memory of a children's birthday party, he thought everything seemed rather festive. The cup situation was a bit hard to manage. Plastic cups weren't great for oversized claws, but after spilling it twice and now with wet hands, he managed to hold it in his palm. One refill later and he walked up to the gathered crowd. The crown and general circle around Faustite seemed to suggest the victor.

"Congratulations. It's not every day we have a reason to celebrate." It certainly would help morale for everyone to know progress was being made.

"I'm glad you don't seem to be missing any limbs from the fight." He could only imagine the power being tested and clashing between royals.

With his plants taking up a fair amount of his time he had, of course, seen the posters strewn about the place. The art was...questionable at best, he could have done better, but the message was there. If he hadn't seen the posters, which he did, the message from Wolframite would have gotten his attention no doubt.

At the door the hat was discarded, he was not messing up his hair for a party hat, and the General wandered into the room. Sniffing once he pulled a face, burnt plastic, it didn't smell very good in here. Maybe someone should have invested in better cups? Ones that might last, as well as party decorations that weren't likely to burn up into ash, but he figured it wasn't his place to nitpick. A royal was dead and they should celebrate, as it seemed Wolframite was intent upon doing.

Hand in a pocket of his coat the ashen blond headed over towards his fellow General and reached out to rest a hand on the others shoulder. "It's good to see yhou Wolframite, I got the message about a party." Not much for drinking, though it wasn't something he was entierly unfamiliar with, he did consider it for a moment. "It would seem we've cause to celebrate, a royal is dead, and hopefully that'll be followed by others." Because there were other royals which he'd like to see dead; that he'd like to kill himself.

Turning slate hued eyes onto the General King, who was clearly at the center of thiis party, he gave a nod of his head. "Congradulations are in order I assume. A very good thing - killing a Royal. No easy task but one which is necessary."

Had he known a simple question, and it really was so simple, would have triggered the General King and sent him down some mental spiral the eternal might not have asked. It was an innocent question about pictures because he did honestly want one on his desk, considering he had it out for the Royal who was now dead, as morbid as the want might have been.

Miyamoto didn't personally care if someone found his want to be morbid, he knew it was, but the answer wasn't to point that out but rather a negative responce to there being any pictures. "A shame, it would have livened up my office a bit." And given him something to enjoy while sitting there trying to figure things out, like personal finances.

A glance to the others around him and he made to pull back ,to step away fro mthe group, when his attention fell onto the new arrivals. A general he'd seen in passing, a little blond, but then there was Wolframite - his Wolframite. Turning fully, long hair wrapping and twisting about his frame, he headed over towards the other. Chuckling as the other seemed to have an issue with the plastic cups.

"At least you aren't going to burn those cups in your hands. The smell is terrible." Rolling his eyes the eternal nodded once to the petite blond. "I came here hoping for a picture, or some momento, of the royals death." And obviously there was nothing; how terrible.

Tama looked at the picture again of the dead princess, all crayon and red. If anyone wanted a picture, they’d have to frame that.

“Debauchery, huh?” Tama grinned. He had the right idea. He downed what he had and raised the glass in the man’s direction.

“A gift? Well, at least it looks fire-proof. Can’t say so much for my offerings.”

He returned to Faustite and watched the hat burn like some sort of premonition.

“A kiss?” What did Faustite take him for? Easy? Loose? Or willing to be subservient to a general-king who had proved himself?

Maybe any of those things. But Tama had had too much to be trying to judge just what Faustite was testing.

That crown did make him look very attractive and he had a particular weakness for bold fashion choices.

And equally bold boys.

Tama leaned in and placed a long finger nail under the general-king’s chin to lift his face so he could look directly into his eyes. He wanted a good picture of this, even if it would only live in his mind.

And he kissed him.

Valeria didn't often get involved in things, especially social events, as she didn't know anyone and kept to herself. however she had gotten a notification from Wolframite, the Captain who had taken her in, so rather than teleporting back home Valeria had turned around and headed off for this meeting place.

Grabbing a poster on the way, to see where this party was taking place, the corrupt senshi slipped in with a hat perched on her head. Long pink hair trailed behind her as she went towards the half youma who had taken her under his wing. She owed him a lot and figured attending this, for his sake if nothing else, would look good for him. "You sent out a message about a celebration?" She said slowly, her voice soft and low. The message, and the poster, gave her enough information on why they were all celebrating and Valeria wasn't sure what she thought about it.

While this was a war, she very well knew that, and this Royal sensh iwas a huge threat to the Negaverse it was still a human life lost. For Valeria, someone who worked in the medical field, it was a hard thing to wrap her head around and accept, to celebrate the death of someone, but she always found the fighitng and hurting of others hard to wrap her mind about. So while this was hard for her to do Valeria was still here, because Wolframite was and sent out a message to her about this, and she wanted to work herself around these issues and be here for the other.
