Enhanced Physical Condition tabAs a Demi-god, Dante is stronger, faster, heals quickly and is more durable than a human. On average, about three times as much.
Speak to the Dead: Omniglot tabHe can speak (and see) those who have died but have not yet moved on. Has the ability to communicate in all languages to better assist those souls to their afterlife.
Transformation: Jackal tabDante can transform into a beast. He gains the head, the claws and the powerful musculature of a Jackal (more like a jackal-were). He is deadlier in this melee form, but only able to access this power once a day. It lasts a day unless dismissed or he is knocked unconscious. In that form, Dante does maintain his sense of self, but the rage is stronger in Jackal form, therefore he must fight the animalistic urge to rage. However, the Amulet of the Scarab allows him better control of the form so he is less unstable and uncontrollable
Menacing Presence tabSummoning the natural fear people have of the darkness, it wraps around Dante like a cloak and allows him to instill that fear in others. Can only use this ability three times a day, lasts for ten minutes at a time.
Realm Walking tabDante can walk between realms of the dead as a method of transportation for the mortal realm. Travel takes a few minutes, but covers vast distances on Earth.
Dante was born to Egyptian God Anubis (Anpu) of funerary rites, protector of graves, guide to the underworld and a mortal Italian woman named Viviana Noemi Dellamorte Moretti. The Dellamorte family were very well known throughout Italian history for their undertaking services, wild parties and forays into the occult. Anpu was drawn to this family specifically for its history with the dead, but especially their daughter Viviana, for her seeming occult gothic mystique.
The recently widowed and exquisitely breathtaking Viviana was completely smitten and drawn to Anpu, which resulted in the birth of Dante. All of this occurred after the death of her Moretti husband and she was once again living in the Dellamorte family home. By the family, Dante was considered to be illegitimate but a breath of fresh air compared to their own daughter who exhibited extreme narcissistic tendencies from a young age, often terrorizing the family.
Despite the acceptance from a majority of his family, life with Vivian was very difficult for Dante. Partially because he reminded her of Anpu, who she felt had jilted her. Some because she felt owed a boon for birthing and raising a demi-child at the god’s request. But mostly, she was extremely envious of Dante’s abilities, such as slower aging that separated him from the rest of society, often wondering why she didn’t deserve to have powers that complemented her high sense of self.
The Dellamorte family was already well off, so money was not an issue, but longer life and greater beauty would have at least made her feel better for being burdened with Dante. When she couldn’t have what she wanted for herself, despite her aggrieved pleas to the gods, she successfully maneuvered her son for her own gain. Using his abilities to jump start and maintain her intrigue and stardom, Dante was forced to perform spiritual tasks for her at wild occult parties she hosted throughout the twenties. But shortly into these events, Dante would come to hate humans
As the threat of a Second World War loomed on the horizon, even the rich were less concerned for parties and focused more on their own survival. To keep the wolves from her door she traded the skills her son possessed for protection, but also so she could maintain a modicum of the lifestyle she was used to. Much like Hitler, Mussolini’s regime had interests in the occult. They tested him rigorously, forcing him to perform like a lab rat. The regime was determined they would find a way to use his abilities for their gain, but after years of failure and lack of funds, they eventually released him. These events would also further develop Dante’s harsh opinion on human society.
After he was released, Dante returned to the only home he knew, where Mommy dearest was still alive and well. Her feelings regarding her son hadn’t changed so she fell into the same pattern of narcissistic abuse towards her son. At least, it remained that way until December 21st 1940, when Anpu visited his son for the first time since his birth. Without Viviana’s knowledge or permission because a god of the dead did not need it, he had spirited Dante away to attend the birth of Hades’ newest demi-godling, Amara Sophina Hayden.
Regrettably, the first twelve years of his life had been filled with turmoil, but the moment Dante laid eyes on baby Amara, he felt a sense of peace for the first time. He did not understand why this pink, tiny creature seemed so perfect but he wanted to hold it in his arms forever. Anpu asked his son to give the blessing. Without any guidance for what that meant, Dante walked forward to give Amara a kiss on her forehead (despite the protestations of the mother). When he pulled back, Amara was staring at the glimmering chain dangling before her nose. Feeling self-compelled, he removed his own Ankh and placed the oversized amulet in the bassinet next to her head, which caused her to smile (or so Dante claims). According to Dante, the ankh would protect Amara throughout her life from many dangers. This matter of fact statement seemed to have amused Hades but most especially Anpu, who gave a nod of approval before he spirited him away again.
Luckily for Dante, he was not returned home to his mother right away. Instead Anpu felt it was time to train his son so he might gain understanding of his abilities and the importance of guiding the dead to their rest. He was taught how to access his power, dual wield with the Khopesh and how to perform expert mummification as well as other funerary practices. Most importantly, he was taught how to travel between realms of the dead as a form of transportation. Once his father was satisfied with his understanding of his abilities and future role, he bid his son farewell until they met again.
For a thirdtime, Dante returned home. What had felt like a year away in his father’s realm, had been several in the human. The next time he saw his mother she had drastically changed. Her beauty had greatly diminished through the heavy imbibing of alcohol and drugs in the den of perversion she had been hosting for years in his absence. Surrounding herself with what she deemed admirers, she used her funds to host debaucherous parties to keep her sycophants and addicts happy. If they were happy, then that meant she was adored. In doing so, she squandered much of the family wealth away, who had either died in the war or moved as far away from the wretched villainess as they could.
When she laid eyes on her missing son, she flew into a rage. Blamed him for everything that had befallen her since his departure. Blamed him for all of the same things that he had absolutely no control over. Raging for a week straight, Viviana finally took a misstep down the stairs. In her drunken bender, she fell against the balustrade that had been in disrepair for years. The railing gave way to her twenty foot plummet below, where the unforgiving ground broke her neck. He was finally free. Despite that, he still found it in himself to grieve. Grieved for the only home he knew. Alas, he didn’t have to grieve too long. His villainess of a mother refused to pass on to the afterlife and remained as a spirit that would haunt Dante through the present.
During the years after this event, Dante learned to be more self-reliant by growing into his powers and knowledge. He aided the dead in every way he could. And eventually sold the remains of his now meager family estate, since the family name and wealth had gone to pot during his mother’s reign. With those remaining funds he started his own funerary business that would eventually become the Dellamorte Enterprise known across several major US cities today. The original business was expanded from traditional Egyptian services to include a variety of funerary options from different religions and cultures. On the side, he offered Medium services to help spirits find the closure they needed to pass on into their afterlife. He did this solely for the dead and not the living. Burying the dead paid well, but even if a family could not afford the cost he aided them anyway. For the people that couldn’t pay, they traded services (not those services you dirty minds) or took an IOU in the form of a deal to be fulfilled at a later date. He was always fair with his prices, but a price must always be paid. This was the way.
Currently, Dante lives in the penthouse of a building he owns that he named the Necropolis. He enjoys evenings, and has been accused of being an insomniac. But when you have your dead mother stalking you, how can you rest? Despite his predicament, he is even-tempered until tested. Insightful, he is always ready to hit you with the truth whether you ask for it or not. Impatient, he has zero time for your bullshit, so please refer back to even-tempered until tested for the result.
Dante always sports a sleek black ensemble and a leopard print jacket. He enjoys beignets, jambalaya, fashion, his three dogs (Shadow the Belgian Malinois, Desoto and Roscoe the Dobermans ) but he abjectly DISLIKES people. They are the bane to his existence and the cause of nothing but problems. Queue his current problem: the insufferable demi-god of Aphrodite named Eleni. As a favor to his father, he has taken on the task of babysitting the flighty demi-goddess of love amidst the increasing turmoil of their world. This was going to be great.
Anubis being Hades' comrade in death and dear friend for many lifetimes was invited to the birth of his child Amara. With him, Anubis brought along his twelve year old son Dante to be there for the blessing of the infant. Despite not being openly friendly, and hardly gregarious, Dante was drawn to the infant Amara. It was unexplainable, but he felt a sense of peace from her that he did not receive from others. At this blessing, he gifts her his ankh, an Egyptian symbol of eternal life, but used as a form of protection for many.
They do not meet again until the great destruction from the events of 9/11, when the earth was bombarded with the souls of the recently dead. Together they with other demi-gods/goddesses of the dead, helped these souls find their peace and move on to their respective afterlives. During this time, a deep bond if formed. Amara as an adult, much like in her infancy instills in him a sense of peace like no other.

Anubis(Anpu) asks his son for a favor, at the request of Aphrodite herself, to safeguard this particular demi-goddess of Love. Her mother fears that her power to drive people wild with lust and desire will bring her harm, since Eleni does not yet have enough control to dispel them.
Out of great respect for his father, Dante takes the job, but regrets every minute of it. He considers her vapid, silly and empty-headed. Is she absolutely beautiful? Yes...unfortunately.
