Lucien, cat form

The message went out for Mauvians to gather if they could. There was an important matter to discuss that could possibly give them an advantage in a decades long war. Longer, if the time between the Fall of the Silver Millennium and now was counted.

They were asked to meet at Mauvian Headquarters. Beneath Destiny Tower, through a hidden door with the activation of a secret panel with each Mauvian’s forehead symbol, they would enter into a place with an immense energy dampening system, so Mauvians who could assume human form were able to without risk.

Inside the main room of the Headquarters were a few couches and tables. Several large ancient, yet futuristic computers lined the walls, with consoles taking up whole walls on their own.

The couple tables had been filled with various foods and drinks, and were set up in a way so that it was accessible to both Mauvians who wanted to use their human form, and Mauvians still limited to their feline form.

There were sandwiches, individually boxed meats and cheese and fruit one would usually find on a charcuterie board, salads with various toppings that could be added, which included a large container of bacon. There was also a container of macaroni and cheese, a whole tray of salmon sashimi and cooked shrimp, and a box of pizza. If someone checked the freezer, they’d find ice cream with an assortment of toppings.

There were several pieces of each dish already missing, a clear indication that there were others comfortable with helping themselves. Or perhaps it was intentionally done to keep anyone from feeling self conscious about being the first to dig into everything that was made available.

Sitting on the arm of one of the couches, unmoving except for his tail that flicked every so often, was Lucien. A large cat already, but his fluffy mane and tail made him look even bigger. His collar of gold with a flower mandala in the center was polished to a shine, and his coat was sleek and shiny as well.

He was watching each Mauvian as they arrived, but it wasn’t until everyone seemed comfortable and eating that he spoke.

“There are fewer of us than I hoped there would be,” he said, but this was low enough so that only those closest to him near the couch would hear. He seemed troubled by the numbers. He glanced towards the door and then the clock, as if determining whether or not he should wait longer.

It didn’t take long for him to decide to continue.

“For those of you who are unfamiliar, my name is Lucien. I wish to meet with all of you so that our bond may become stronger. Please forgive me for jumping straight into things, for each day we let pass without a resolution, our purpose for existence dwindles.

"It has come to my attention that among Senshi and Knights, they must rely on meeting each other while using their powers, or run the risk of revealing their identity to those currently bound by Chaos.”

He paused to make sure those who wanted to listen were, before continuing.

“I propose that we work together to create something that will allow Senshi and Knights know, while they are unpowered as civilians, that other Senshi or Knights are among them.”

Soleiyu, Cat Form

Though the food was tempting, Soleiyu found himself wholly satiated by the idea of Lucien calling together Mauvians to work on a project. Truthfully, Soleiyu was used to working alone. He liked being the sole recipient of praise, and he liked adding his own personal flourishes to his projects.

Still, he understood the importance of teamwork, and he wasn’t against it by any means. Lucien had started planning this project almost immediately after their first meeting, and Soleiyu appreciated that sort of drive.

Just because he liked attention didn’t mean he wouldn’t put his best effort to support a good idea. Even if it was someone else’s.

He was more comfortable in his Mauvian form, but these days he didn’t much get a chance to try anything else. There was plenty of space in the room but without anticipating who would show up, he’d decided not to unleash his massive tail on everyone here. Lest some fur drift into the food, at least.

He sat near Lucien, perched in such a way that he could see him just as easily as any of the others in the group. He sat upright, poised and dignified. His tail was curled around him so as not to take up too much space, but it occasionally twitched with interest.

Lucien knew his thoughts on the matter; he’d shared them prior to this meeting. While there was, of course, the drive to voice his ideas and opinions and concerns just to make sure everyone was on the same page–and knew how clever he was–he kept them to himself. Lucien knew much of them already, and Soleiyu’s stance hadn’t changed.

It could be a useful tool, and Soleiyu was here to make sure he succeeded in building it.

And, maybe, making sure he didn’t wind up caught on any Earthly things in the process.

Liryn, human form

The message that had been a curious one and Liryn had deemed it well worth the trip out to HQ to see what it was all about.

Liryn had made sure to arrive relatively early, nose twitching at the tantalising scent of salmon and prawns - two things that he was very much partial to - as he padded towards the main room.

But it was in the form of a young man with jade green hair that Liryn walked into the main room proper.

Early as he was, it seemed that some of his fellow mauvians had been earlier still and Liryn gave both of them a cheerful nod as he walked over to investigate one of the couples tables that appeared to have been set up with all manner of tantalising treats.

He helped himself to a bit of the salmon sashimi and shrimp, before half walking and half bouncing his way over to one of the couches.

"Hi Lucien" he said cheerfully "It's nice to meet you."

Purplish eyes slid over to take in the fluffy white furred cat with the golden forehead star that looked vaguely familiar (
Soleiyu) for reasons that he couldn't quite place as Liryn cheerfully included him in the greeting "And also you as well."

Xamira, cat form

Xamira sat with one eye on the food and the other on Lucien. She was both paying attention to what he was saying and also thinking about what to eat.

She knew that this was a crucial matter that needed to be discussed.

If they were successful in creating something that would allow Senshi and Knights to know of each other's presence while unpowered, it could give them a major advantage in their fight against Chaos. At least that was what she was getting from this meeting. She wasn't really sure.

She agreed with Lucien. She looked around the room at the other Mauvians. Some of them were in human form and some were in their cat form.

She frowned noticing the number of attendees. Was this all that came to the meeting? Were there not enough Mauvians? This made her sad and worried.

Arthur, humanoid form

Arthur sat on one of the love seats. The chair was comfortable, as expected of any guardian who put a lot of worth on furniture that could be cozy for both small and larger bodies, and he could see himself taking a nap if the other guardian started to speak. There had been some curiosity which one was leading this meeting, and his eyes focused on the one speaking.

The comment of their numbers had his attention, and he looked about at the small collection of guardians and felt that sentiment. Their numbers had always been small, but even after all these years, there didn't seem to be much growth. Considering how vulnerable they were when they needed to help awaken and grow senshi, it wasn't any wonder. Their duty was dangerous, and as one guardian cat would awaken to their purpose, another was possibly out there loosing to the war.

While the food was tempting, he had already made a ice coffee at home and was drinking from the thermos.

"While that is very good way for them to meet each other without having to risk themselves during a patrol, if that was ever to fall into the wrong hangs, it would be disastrous." He said, voicing his concerns out loud.

"The amount of security on whatever is created would have to be iron-clad."

Bernard, human form for the foods

The table of food had been too tempting for Bernard to ignore and he found himself grabbing a plate and nibbling at the charcuterie board. Most of the rest he ignored, but meat and cheese called to him in ways that he couldn't help but answer.

He was still standing as the one who had gathered them all here introduced himself. "Lucien..." He muttered to himself which was followed by another piece of cheese. Really, all this needed was some nice wine.

He agreed with the idea that Lucien had started with, however he also agreed with Arthur. There was a definite need to keep in touch while Order was un-powered, but how to keep it from being able to be reverse-engineered by any Corrupted Mauvians or Chaos aligned folks who were tech-savvy would be difficult.

"At least for one authentication measure, though we would need multiple for whatever it is we come up with, we could have it react to only Order auras." He said, slightly to himself as he was thinking about it. It was loud enough that if anyone that was listening could hear it, but low enough that if they were distracted they may have missed it.

Lucasta, Humanoid

Lucasta surveyed her companions with hidden curiosity but visible nonchalance. She took up the entirety of one couch, stretched over the length of it like a lady in her boudoir. A plate of shrimp sat on the floor within easy reach. Every once in a while, her arm would hang down and nimble fingers would snatch up a shrimp, from which she took slow, decadent bites.

She knew little of the other Mauvians. She came upon them from time to time, had worked with Soleiyu on Alastor and thought she might have seen one or two of the others at various points over the last nine or so years, but her connections were admittedly limited. Her only excuse was that she took her commitments so seriously that she had little time (or interest) for socializing.

Gazing upon her (and she must be gazed upon; one could not simply look), one would think her entirely comfortable with the situation. She gave none of her thoughts away. Her mask of indifference was enviable.

The task at hand was… intriguing. Lucasta was not wholly convinced of its necessity, but she could see how some might like the option. Her bonded most certainly would not, and it was her interests that Lucasta cared for most of all.

“Whatever we devise will be optional, I presume,” Lucasta said. “Some may not care for it. They may deem it too much of a risk. Allies have run their mouths among enemies before.”

Viatrix, Human

"I imagine it would work similarly to the senshi phones as far as security goes, right?" Viatrix sat with one leg crossed over the other, wiggling her foot because she didn't know what staying still meant. She didn't know who this Lucien was, at least beyond his introduction, but it sounded like he had a good idea. She definitely wanted to see it succeed, especially considering how much Encke and the Bell family he was part of loved building their connections.

Luke and Safira had added whole new floors to their house--or at least had finished what was there, she knew because she made a lab in the newly finished basement too--to help build connections and help other people rebuild. There was Nectaris, Dagon, Caedus, Roka, and now there was Emain Ablach, the ex-priest?

The now priest again?

She loved it.

It would only aid their mission if other allies could tell that they all lived there, and that their house in particular was a safe space for them to enter and know they were with friends. Viatrix wiggled at the thought of it.

"Those already don't work for Chaos. Wait -- could we find a way to make this linked to an app on the phone? Maybe key it to the starseed itself or something. I'm pretty good at the app thing. Almost done with another one, actually..." Viatrix couldn't wait to get her Mau GPS and Discorder rolled out...

Elliott, Cat

"I believe this idea would be useful for my bonded," offered Elliott, voice uneasy even as he was forming biscuits with his feet and getting himself at least comfortable. Perhaps he should explain himself. It seemed some of his fellows were eager to ensure this was an opt-in tool, which was... well, honestly, he was uncertain why that would be the preference. Knowing that they had their fellows nearby sounded like a comfort.

He was uncertain it was wise to directly name who Nembus was because of that, though. Elliott ran through the most neutral options in his head before he continued with, "They are afraid to power as they believe a target is on their back. Being able to know where their friends are would be helpful."

After another pause, he added, "It has been hard for them to find any connection to their fellows because of this. Knowing who is safe as a civilian would assist this."

Perhaps it was unnecessary to defend himself, as the idea was already being spoken about. He was uncertain, but he paused and drew back, deciding that he had already said enough.

Pravoski, cat form.

Pravoski wasn't the most....responsible Mauvian in Destiny City - not by a long shot. He didn't have any connection to any particular senshi, he wasn't as innately good with tech and programming as most of his kind, and stringing together a thought in to words was frustrating for both sides of the conversation. Sure, he wasn't awakening senshi left and right, and maybe he felt a sense of inferiority among his peers, but it wasn't like he didn't make an effort. He knew the sewers of the city like any good GPS system, and had helped in his fair share of quick escapes.

Lanky and sleek, Pravoski slunk in to headquarters, wary and self-conscious. He sat at the back, tail wrapped around himself, tip twitching. Probably better he stay back there, what with his damp and musty smell. He couldn't smell it, but others probably could. And some were trying to eat. He didn't want to ruin anyone's apatite. He could feel his mouth water though - the smell of food was so tempting.... Maybe he could talk someone in to bringing him something....

Brioche, cat form

How long had it been since Brioche pulled himself from the gutters to actually do what he was meant to do? That terrible injury he had sustained quite some years ago left him far more scruffy than any cat had any right in being. And it was during those past years of being shuffled from rescue to rescue, finding a little home than being dumped on the street in the next breath, that left him tired.

And yet he still found hope now and then; a glimmer of hope, of almost curious, kitten-like nature sparkled in his eyes at the message sent. Maybe that was just what he needed.

He dragged his old tired self to their little hide away, curling up in a corner after having grabbed something soft to gnaw on. Even his teeth hurt after all this time... In a way, it was embarrassing. Seeing all these neat and tidy kits, and here he was, pathetic and grungy as if he had not once made an effort to care for himself.

Well, after having given up on both himself and the dream of finding his bonded once more not a single ounce of motivation could be had. Depression had settled in far too deeply into his bones to do more than live his life blindly as a normal cat.

Still, he listened, ear flicking at every word.. And perhaps, that very same thing could be a way to find the one he so desperately longed for.

Before he opened his mouth to speak too much about it, another Mau seemed to linger nearby, one perhaps even more grungy than himself, and that soothed his embarrassment, just a little bit.

"Young one, did you want something to eat?" He softly murmured to him, pawing the probably overfilled plate of mostly soft things towards Pravoski.

While he was no tinkerer himself, when the other young one had spoken about that beacon, a thought passed by his head, something he had remembered from the far distant past of 2002.

"I think perhaps... Charms? Like the old ones that used to be found on those sturdy old phones? Mass produce them, so that everyone could have them, but they could only respond to another nearby connection, powered by an Order individual's aura. Like an RFID tag. As you know, RFID tags only respond to other tags that send out similar radio waves, but it is very, very subtle.. I believe there are games out there that use the same mechanics, a pin that can react to a cell phone. It wouldn't be difficult to simply make an RFID tag that responds with a cute little cellphone game, but it also may respond to our own technology embedded within the little tag..." After he spoke out, near rambling about it, he curled up once more, half hiding behind his hat to see what the others would think.

Illyria - Humanoid form

For a moment Illyria was hesitant to even make her presence known amongst the other Mauvians that had already gathered. It had taken her a few extra minutes to carefully brush off the imaginary wrinkles from her dress before slipping quietly into the main room where she could hear voices. It had been a decision on which she had gone back and forth on if she had even wanted to attend but ultimately her curiosity had been piqued by the original body of the message that had been received earlier in the week. Even as she moved towards the promise of something cold in the freezer did Illyria's ears flick to catch what was being discussed and she nodded thoughtfully.

Her bonded would for sure make use of such an item if they could figure out how to make it but there were also risks. Unless the risks were nullified would Illyria feel safe in allowing her bonded partner near. If a chaos-touched Mau got their hands on such tech could they subvert the design? Illyria pulled open the door to the freezer and stared at the frozen delicacies within before grabbing herself a spoon and one small container of ice cream that had been found within before finding a spot on an unclaimed chair.

The lid on the ice cream was removed and Illyria placed her liberated spoon into the container before sighing. Her gaze was thoughtful as she examined everyone in the room before realizing there was at least one Mauvian that she recognized.

"I'm unsure on how I would feel on creating an item as such. Like others have said already we'd have to make sure that there were safeguards woven into whatever was created. I also believe that there are order folks out that probably wouldn't feel comfortable in having themselves 'exposed' as such. Could those not interested opt out as it were,"

She fell silent before observing the room before digging the spoon further into the ice cream before pulling a bit of the product free and nibbling on what was removed.

"It's not to say that I'm not intrigued by such an item and would support its creation but we also have to realize that there's risks associated either way."

Snowball Human Form

Snowball walked in trying not to look like he was late. He slipped towards the food and got a piece of the pizza before his ears twitched realizing they were talking about something that would let the senshi and knights know there's others around them.

"Could probably program it into their rings and henshin pens unless you're looking for another accessory to add to their hoard and doesn't disappear." He offered as he thoughtfully nibbled on the pizza.

Brioche - Cat form

At the concern for security, Brioche sat up a little straighter, *almost* neatly.

"No matter what we decide to create, there is a security risk. Even a 3000 length passcode can be broken with enough time after all. I had always thought that these youngin's rather liked hording little trinkets... But to address that fear, RFID is rather hard to read, as many use one time passwords that regenerate over time. Both compatible items would have to have a common list, that could only be generated with the Aura's from given order individuals. Creating a new item would be more efficient than modifying every single senshi out there, as there more than a few that we may not be able to track. But creating an item directly that's available to the masses, that both generates a large amount of inventory that would need to be scowered by chaos to even find a small hint of what we're doing."

He paused for a moment, his surprisingly deep voice scratchy from what felt like years of disuse.

"RFID, again, would be our best bet, or our own version of it. We have to consider the necessary steps that would be taken to ensure that it could be compatible with the standard human phone. Security wise... well, along with the code list, there's also the fact that it's short range broadcasting, not wide range, there's hardly any signals to intercept." He pats a paw to his chin in thought, considering more possibilities. "Should one pass by another with the same frequency powered by their order auras, it could ping a special message, or generate a special animal critter for the game, imagine a little mau looking creature, if you will. From there, our servers can receive the information, and we can confirm if it's legit. Then send back a message reassuring the Order Member that it is real. I don't believe it would be terribly difficult to create an AI Mau to monitor the systems. Or if we want real-time help with such a thing, I'm absolutely certain there's a number of us who would volunteer to play the IT technician on a rotating shift to monitor sign ups and applications..."

The longer he spoke, the more be began to trail off, until he reached a point where he grew quiet.

"... That is, if anyone else is curious about this..."

((Pardon the spewing of info! xD Working IT got me all worked up about all this info!))

Lucien, cat form

He nodded politely to the cheerful jade haired Mauvian (Liryn) who greeted him and Soleiyu. Another Mauvian (Xamira) seemed equally concerned about their small attendance, but didn’t say anything. Still, Lucien was grateful that she was there with the rest of them.

Lucien was silent as he listened to the other Mauvians as each spoke, whether it was in agreement of the idea, or voiced concern. There were a few times that he had to refrain from glancing over at Soleiyu for confirmation or a slight translation on what was being said. He might have understood what they were suggesting and discussing, but his comprehension was still being worked on.

Security as a major point of importance was a relief for Lucien to hear. As well as the choice to use it or not. Other things being discussed gave him pause as he tried to piece together context with the information and terms he did know, but some were still too foreign to him.

“Thank you all for your insight and cooperation,” he said once it seemed as though they’d all had a chance to speak their mind for the moment.

“I am aware that I am a stranger among you all and have not had the opportunity to work on the countless projects I am sure you have all gathered together for in the past, and therefore am not familiar with you as you are with each other,” he lamented. There was so much time he needed to make up for, but hopefully this would be a good start.

“I also understand that I am not familiar with the social standards of this World, so I appreciate your continued patience with me, but could I ask that you introduce yourselves so I may respond to you appropriately and by name, please?”

Again, he refrained from glancing over at Soleiyu, who was the only Mauvian that he was familiar with at this point. He hadn’t asked Soleiyu before the gathering what social cues or guidelines he needed to look for and abide by. He would have to be more thorough in his future endeavors.

“I agree that security would be the utmost importance,” he nodded to the bespeckled white haired Mauvian on the loveseat (Arthur), dark haired, mustached Mauvian (Bernard), purple robed and curly haired Mauvian (Viatrix), and Mauvian in a white dress with curly hair (Illyria).

“As well as the option for our Senshi and Knights to be able to be detected by others or not,” he continued, nodding as well to ombre brunette Mauvian with the shrimp (Lucasta) and the previous Mauvian (Illyria) again.

“I am pleased that this will be of great benefit to some, hopefully more,” he said appreciatively to the larger brown and tabby patterned Mauvian (Elliott).

“And while I believe what you both suggested has merit and will be useful,” he turned back to the purple robed Mauvian (Viatrix) as well as the worn down Mauvian with folded ears (Brioche). “I am afraid I am not entirely familiar and will need to continue my research after this meeting. I am cautious about using technology not innately Mauvian.”

Lucien appreciated the enthusiasm, even if his only response to it was to sit up a little straighter, but most of what was being said about this Earthen technology made no sense to him. He certainly had a lot to catch up on, even with some of his memories returning.

He was glad that the other Mauvian who didn’t speak (Pravoski) was offered some food. To Lucien, contribution didn’t matter as much as a willingness to listen and assist. They would certainly need as much help as they could get.

“My bonded is particularly protective of his family, the immediate of whom are both Knights, but others by extension are also Senshi and Knights alike,” he explained, hoping that the others would feel more at ease knowing that he took their safety very seriously.

“The idea that I had was to request Senshi and Knights to bring a small object with them that they are likely to always keep on their person. A charm as suggested, perhaps. Or a piece of jewelry. A Henshin pen or Knight’s signet ring could work in a pinch,” he said, now nodding to the winter dressed Mauvian (Snowball).

“But something important to an individual would, in theory, minimize detection as something with Mauvian enhancements. I believe that, for their own safety, that they should have the ability to turn our enhancement on and off at will. Whether they are uncomfortable with it, or in an unsafe situation. With how many Senshi and Knights I understand are in the city, I will need everyone here to help with these enhancements, once we have completed the prototype, please. I am still learning the systems and written language here, so it would certainly be faster with everyone’s help.”

Soleiyu, Cat Form

Soleiyu listened to the others with a passive expression. Sometimes, his tail twitched, but no great spark or excitement erupted in his mind. That wasn’t such a bad thing; he could appreciate that they all seemed to have similar priorities and be on the same page when it came to Lucien’s proposed technology.

Lucien wasn’t like the rest of them, he hadn’t been on Earth for as long as they had. The war was newer to him, his idea of technology was different from theirs. These were things that could be learned–Devyn had, and Lucien had picked things up far quicker than his bonded Senshi.

And he was already out here trying to improve their resources.

Soleiyu listened to the group speak and couldn’t help but categorize some of their comments based on what he had experience with. It was technology he knew, things he’d worked with. Things he would have loved to share, in other circumstances.

But this was Lucien’s project, and he’d already put so much time bouncing around ideas and trying to manifest a tool that could be useful for Senshi and Knights alike. For as much as Soleiyu liked attention, Lucien had built this stage and it was his time to shine.

He was doing well, all things considered. He watched him, waiting for some sign that he was confused or needed clarification. It didn’t come.

Soleiyu wondered if Lucien was able to digest and process their references or if he was just good at hiding any confusion or unfamiliarity. He’d been adapting to Earth, but there was still so much to take in. And yet, he didn’t seem to be struggling.

Soleiyu nodded approvingly after he spoke.

I’m Soleiyu,” he introduced, not for Lucien but for those who didn’t know him yet. “I’ve had some luck with low detection technology and ranged correspondence. I’ve made a few communication devices. Nothing quite so ambitious as Lucien’s project, and all to serve another purpose, but I can upload the blueprints onto the database if it might help. For this project or any other.

He’d made compact devices capable of sending private messages to customized apps, he’d made long distance technology capable of sending secure messages. He had programmed cute, digital avatars of himself to look after his friends in handheld games, too.

He had not programmed something synchronized to an individual starseed to identify its user to another, but thinking of such technology and its implementations was invigorating–as long as it was safely installed. Between all of them there he was certain they could come up with something, though.
