It was still the early hours of late on a Friday night, people staying in had already loaded up on snacks and drinks, while the ones staying out had hours to go until the bars and clubs closed. Todd was ringing up a large group of people in costumes that were probably just normal cosplayers. It felt like every weekend during the summer held some kind of event that had fans dressing up but that didn't stop the clerk's heartrate from entering hide-or-flight mode every damn time.

He just couldn't take any given costume for granted in this city.

Behind him, on the old TV, a demonic triangle showed a giant stoned rabbit a magic trick. Very carefully making sure non of the bags would break on the gang of Gundams, he gave them the standard have a good night and did a little breathing exercise Kokeshi girl taught on her youtube channel. She was one of the more annoying customers, but he had to admit it helped sometimes. Not enough to give her his sweet sweet likes and subscribes, though.

Tonight was going to be a perfectly normal and survivable night. They'd even fixed the slurpee machine, so both limited flavors were available once again. Honestly, he didn't really want to cross any person who'd drink slurpee flavors like Yellow Wallpaper and Teriyaki Pork. Who knew what that sort of person was capable of? The image of Praxibite swam up in his mind's eye, and he wondered if he should hope the guy found out the machine was fixed before the flavors got replaced or if he hoped to never witness the man's inevitable monstrosity in the face of a jerky flavored slush drink.

No no no. No thinking about that sort of stuff, no putting out Come here all you dangerous Destiny City weirdoes -vibes.

"Evening!"

Looking up at the ding of a another customer entering, Todd smiled extremely carefully at the teenage girl in...was that Egyptian wear? It seemed a pretty even toss up as to whether she was capable of throwing him through the front window or if she was just a Yu-gi-oh cosplayer.

Shedir would find that the 7-Eleven was a late night snack mecca. From the long aisle of chips and jerky, to the seemingly endless displays of slightly over-priced candy, baked goods, and of course: the hot case by the counters, perpetually tumbling its variety of cylindrical foods. There was even, according to the sign, whole pizzas available. And everything was boxed in by a shining perimeter of drink coolers, soda fountains, and slurpee machines.

Todd glanced out at the parking lot to see if anything awful was lurking in the parking lot and only saw the Gundams trying to fit into an Uber.

"Yeah, we haven't had any Big Incidents for a whole 17 days," Todd gave her, and Destiny City in general, a thumb's up. Good job not tearing the place down for over two whole weeks. On the TV behind him, a group of clowns and puppets ghoulishly considered unhousing a particularly gooey looking mud monster for money.

Seeing her armful of drinks and snacks approach the counter, the clerk nodded, expression lightening a bit. Not one of those ones who'd simply vanish with an armful of stuff at least.

"Busy night?" He asked with a careful balance of sincere-but-also-not-needing-to-actually-know-any-details. Because Todd really didn't need to know if somebody's night had a body count. The empty store was filled with the sound of the scanner's brief beeps for a moment and then the door chime went off, and a crowd of bakery themed? Magical girls entered the store, heading straight for the Yellow Wallpaper slurpee machine like a bunch of maniacs.

Never one to judge someone's Gas Station Dinner, Todd just nodded and bagged everything up, glancing out at the empty parking lot, he doubled the drink bag for her walk. "It's been...interesting with the convention stuff going on, but not interesting to the point of property damage." Not unless you counted displays knocked over by stray wings and tails.

Listing out the total, and giving the backpack and wallet a smile, Todd noticed the silence and his eyes strayed toward the clock. Ah yes, twenty past the hour. Weird how it was always twenty past or twenty to,

The gap was suddenly filled by the slimy pile of mud on the TV, "Listen, Mother Nature in her wisdom fashioned me to be a Bog. I am a genuine bit of nature. I'm the real thing! A product of harmonious growth and an ever-changing, benevolent environment. I am a child of the universe. No more, no less."

Midway, Todd had turned his attention to the old television. Turning back to the Yu-gi-oh fan, he gave her a wan smile as he accepted her payment. "I never expect it when these ancient acid trip shows come out with stuff like that."

Giving the girl a little wave, Todd wondered if it was better to down a five hour energy or take a smoke break to get him through the oncoming midnight rush of however many anime heroes and villains that were going to be coming his way. Along with whatever else decided to mix in with them.
