xxx🧀PERSONALITY🌠xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx RESOLUTE Resolute, confident, stubborn– call her what you will, Lyn has been assured since birth that she is perfectly wonderful the way she is. Her self-confidence and assuredness lend to her competitive spirit and sometimes her obstinance over small things. When she gets on a train of thought, she stays until the last stop or until she realizes it’s doomed and it’s time to bail out. Generally though, as long as you’re not in her way or doing something that annoys her, Lyn’s pretty relaxed and ambivalent about things.
WRY Lyn was raised in part by her grandparents and house elves, in part by her older sibling, and in part by the internet. Her sense of humor tends towards crass, silly, over-the-top, with deep pools of dark, bitter, and bleak. Anything considered “troll” or “cheese” is usually down her alley, and if she can retort with a witty one-liner or reference, that’ll be what she says, even if it’s not what she actually thinks about something. She also tends to find offensive things quite funny, even though a bit of retrospect will get her to admit said funny things might be toxic.
IRRITABLE Lyn has an issue with being constantly annoyed, frustrated, angry, or tired. It’s totally not because she spends all night playing games instead of sleeping. It’s also totally not because she’s impatient and idolizes efficiency. The only thing Lyn likes more than beating someone in video games is beating something in an IRL thing. Usually though, the “IRL world” just isn’t as interesting to her as her fictional worlds, or isn’t as clear–life has no UI, human bureaucracies are terribly inefficient, and that’s all incredibly annoying.
FOCUSED While Lyn doesn’t consider herself the type to sit down and study, she has always done decently in her studies because she doesn’t procrastinate. Whether she’s doing homework, gaming, exercising, or studying (game strategy of course), Lyn concentrates and gets things done efficiently, one task at a time. She enjoys quantifiable systems and practical applications, especially anything that can explain how the world (game world or real world) is the way it is and help her make IRL solutions more efficient (or more funny). Lyn approaches things with raw power– she’ll think things through cleverly up to a point, but then she just says “Duck it, as long as I can punch harder, it doesn’t matter.”
UNAWARE Lyn got just about everything she wanted as a child, and grew to just kind of expect things to conform to her needs. She generally doesn’t pay attention to things around her unless and until it relates to her or gets in her way— and then it annoys her. She’s a straightforward, no-nonsense person, and flowery language tends to come across as at best confusing, at worst disingenuous. Lyn doesn’t intentionally try to be harsh or selfish, she just says what’s on her mind (or whatever funny reference she can make). She does, however, automatically share everything with Efe. That’s just expected. She and Efe are different people, but they deserve the same things. If she gets two candies, that automatically follows that one was for Efe. If she gets three, then it automatically follows that one was for Efe, one is for her, and they split the other one (what about Su? Whoops. Sorry.)

xxx🧀BACKSTORY🌠xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 🧀🌠EARLY CHILDHOOD Lyndwe and Efemena Afolayan were born 10 minutes apart but on different days, to Wekesa Afolyan and Chikere Kariuki. In stark contrast to his attitude towards their older sibling Souleymane, Wekesa doted on Lyn and Efe. Between their father’s business investments and their mother’s serial cheating and general apathy towards their existence, the three children were often dropped off at an available grandparents’ or left with Su in charge. Despite being purebloods, they initially attended private muggle elementary school. Wekesa berated Su for the same grades he praised Efe and Lyn for, and Chikere didn’t seem to care anyways.
Lyn found herself drawn towards games– sports games, video games, board games– she liked doing things and figuring out how they worked, then using that data somehow—to make an efficient solution, to win a debate, to impress Baba, and best of all, to do something funny. She quickly realized this was not the attitude her teachers hoped from her and brought up homeschooling, and with Su starting at Hogwarts the next year, the twins were homeschooled. Lyn was allowed to focus her attention on her game studies: she learned programming, robotics, and streaming through a combination of tutors and the internet, learned to read by looking up words for Magic: the Gathering guides and forum posts. In the afternoons, Lyn and Efe were sent to the MagiScouts camp. Lyn was somewhere between exhausted and excited but paid more attention in MagiScouts than she had in primary school at least. Throughout this, the twins' learning was supplemented by puzzle modules and challenges that Su left for them. Lyn loved these challenges and eagerly searched for and completed them. Despite the physical distance, she grew closer to Su over this time, sending silly messages and updates.
