Despite her mother’s multitude of warnings, Vetra was ready to follow Enya to Zinris. Her ‘friend’ was already halfway across the sea with her cousin by now and Vetra was dragging her feet. She’d waited too long to get passage with them, so she had to wait until the next ship bound for Yael arrived in port and now, as she meandered on the dock, she had to wait for them to prep for the journey back.

As frustrating as it was it gave the young Elidae a chance to look at those around her. The port itself wasn’t just for Aishans, though she could have chosen such a route. There were Kahi a plenty, but stranger still were the small groupings of others. Earthlings maybe?

Quiana was bored and frustrated. After finally getting the gumption to book passage to Matori, risking so much to venture into the foreign lands, she had met Qila who had also booked passage overseas. While Quiana was going towards Matori, Qila was going to Chibale but it wasn't as if there were a variety of ships to take anyone overseas save for the big vessel that was now delayed with preparation work for its return journey. To Matori then to Yael, is that the common route? Did they also need to take on a sea monster before arrival and take damage like this? Not that she knew if the sea monster tidbit was truth or not, some of the sailors preferred to spin tales instead of simply admitting to normal wear and tear or even storm damages, but Quiana didn't care about what actually happened as long as they were quicker about things. Quiana pursed her lips as she paced along the docks, the Elidae opting to leave her narrow cabin and allowing her new travel companion to rest while she personally stretched her legs. She had plenty of time to explore the little seaside port with the additional afternoon provided while they waited on the ship to be properly repaired, loaded up with new supplies and prepped for the journey.

"Hmm...maybe a bite to eat?" She mused, tapping a hand against her hip before twisting to avoid a Kahi racing through the docks and back into the crowd. "Thief!" Someone called out and Quiana sighed before actually smiling. Well she had been bored, right? Maybe it wouldn't hurt to go racing after the purplish Kahi who had brushed past her.

Well that wasn’t expected. Vetra turned her head toward the sound and while she hadn’t been able to see the accused, she did see a few other Kahi in pursuit. Shaking her head, the Elidae moved to sit back down in her chosen spot – only to find her own belongings gone and a blue Kahi disappearing into the crowd. “HEY!” The teen bellowed and with a snarl she took off after the figure.

She ran, dodging around bodies and bumping into a few as she moved. Vetra tried to be conscious of them, really she did, but it was packed here and the other one was just so fast – “Omph!” And of course she collided into someone else, murmured a quick apology and saw…another elidae? “Sorry, gotta run!” As curious as she was Vetra couldn’t let the thief get away!

"It's al-" Quiana blinked in surprise as the other Elidae just bolted away. She wasn't the thief, right? Quiana quickly checked her belongings, the Elidae tracing her hands over her hips and the layered skirts that hid her own coin purse, but then realized that everything was in place. So what was the rush? Unless she had actually..."Oh my." Quiana shook her head, a small smile lingering on her lips despite the other Elidae's obvious frustrations. If her Sister was robbed then that would be a shameful thing indeed, especially when they were such a proud race that didn't want to think that any earthling or Kahi could best them. The Kahi though were an interesting race, one that Quiana had bonded with over the last few months exploring and through them she had become more open minded about the world and the various skills of other races which could be better than some Aishans. Which unfortunately meant that this thief could very well get away with a Sister's belongings if they were talented enough.

If they were on the docks..."Go towards the beach!" It would be hard to get away with belongings with the fishing boats and such gathered here, but once they hit an open area it wouldn't surprise Quiana if the Kahi just dove towards the water and swim towards freedom. Quiana pushed forward and found herself moving alongside of the other Elidae. "Did they take a lot from you? Let me help." She stated loudly, racing along to try to get a glimpse of their potential thief.

When I get my hands on you you’re done! Vetra could just make out a figure in the crowd or…was that two now? She’d been following a blue Kahi, but now there was a purple one meeting with them. They stayed still long enough to say a few words to one another, look back and start running again.

The beach…? Vetra tossed a quick look over her own shoulder to see the other Elidae following her and nodded. “Everything I have is in that bag! I’m not worried about my snacks but my ticket’s in there and all my coin!” It wasn’t much, Vetra barely even knew how to count it, but from what she’d been told it was important for travelers! As she shifted from the dock to the beach she saw something that might come in handy and reached over to snag it before jumping down onto the sand. It was a folded up fishing net and if need be she’d hook em like guppies.

"Fair enough." Quiana recognized the panic, she understood how important those essentials were for anyone traveling especially the Elidae who usually traded within their community and didn't bother with coin save for when trading with outsiders or traveling overseas. You couldn't book passage without it, that was for certain! Something about traveling and her recent experiences had pushed the previously laid-back Elidae into caring more and being more active, something she proved as she pulled her bow and grabbed an arrow once the Kahi in question was spotted. Looks like a pair, not just a single one. It would be tricky if they got to the water before the Elidae could catch them.

The netting was perfect! Quiana smirked as she started slowing down, her run turning into more of a casual jog as she fixed her bow and held out a hand with the arrow. "Do you shoot? If not then pass that over really quickly. I have an idea..." She could try to shoot the netting and see if it snagged them. It would be a lot less bloody than shooting their back tendons, something that even Quiana didn't know would go over well with the local authorities if she opted for that route. Plus, blood was kind of a hassle. She did so hate getting her clothing dirty, especially right before a trip.

“Not well enough,” Vetra admitted and without question handed over the net. She’d been taught the basics same as any young Aishan, but her training hadn’t gone beyond that! Seeing how close the Kahi were getting to the water filled Vetra’s heart with panic. If Enya had been here she might have been able to talk to them, she probably even knew them, or at the very least she could keep up in the water! The bluer Kahi was already in the process of slinging her back around their shoulder and seemingly prepping for a dive into the surf.

"Then let's hope I have decent aim." Quiana replied with a smirk, the Elidae quickly twisting the netting so that the arrow would send it flying towards the Kahi. If this didn't work then she wasn't certain how to help her Sister. It wasn't as if she couldn't swim, but no one could stay underwater or navigate the depths as well as the Kahi! Pulling back her bowstring, Quiana closed her eyes for a quick prayer before sending it flying forward. She just hoped the bluer Kahi was the true culprit since she could only chose one in the moment. Swish! Her hand let go and the arrow flew true so that it embedded itself right where the water met beach, the net flying after it and entangling a very flustered and surprised Kahi who let out a series of curses before stumbling around and trying to get out of the netting that kept tangling around their shoulders.

"Go, before they break free!" She called out towards her Sister, Quiana preparing another arrow just in case they truly had to draw blood upon arrival. The purple Kahi was taking a moment to decide their own fate, the slender figure giving a shrug before diving into the waves when the pair of Elidae started getting too close for comfort.

“The other one got away!” No matter how fast Vetra ran she was never going to get close enough and once the purple Kahi brought through the water’s surface it was all over. Even if they stayed closer to shore they would be too fast for her, but at least she was able to make it toward their accomplice. If left a moment or two longer the thief might have gotten free of the net, but Vetra made sure to step on parts of it before getting a better grip. “Your friend might have gotten away, but you’re mine. Give me back what you stole and I might be lenient.”

And instead of negotiating the Kahi reared back their head then spit in Vetra’s face.

She, in turn, hauled off and punched them.

"Well that's one way to negotiate a situation." Quiana remarked with a raised eyebrow, the purple Kahi now unconscious after their eyes had rolled back into their skull when the Elidae punched them. "On the bright side that's a bag of stuff they didn't get to toss over." She gestured towards the knapsack that looked a bit too full for just one person. Quiana moved to the side, crouching with her skirts moving around her feet as the tide started to move water around them, and she carefully tugged the tangled Kahi further up the shoreline. "I think if I secure the netting here..." She dug her arrow into the sand, a bit disappointed at having to sacrifice one or two to tie the thief down. "The authorities should be able to pick up the package?" It didn't look like the other Kahi was a heroic type, Quiana doubted that they would return for their partner in crime. She simply shook her head, gently nudged the Kahi with her foot one final time to make certain that they were secure before looking back to the other Elidae.

"Is fortune smiling on you today? Did any of that belong to you?"

“Yeah, I might have gotten a little carried away.” Vetra reached up to wipe her face and step back off the net. She hadn’t meant to hit that hard, but goddess was she mad. It was just a gut instinct that went full tilt. The younger elidae moved to help drag their culprit further up the sand, just out of reach of the incoming tide, and looked toward the knapsack.

“It’s definitely my bag, but…” Bending down, Vetra started to inspect it’s contents. “A lot of this doesn’t belong to me and my golds gone, but-“ She held up her ship pass with a smile, “-at least I still have this? That’s the important thing.” She’d be flat broke until she got to Zinris and then for a while after, but at least she could get there. Vetra started to take out everything that wasn’t hers and organized it in a neat pile next to the ‘package’. “Thanks for the assist; I wasn’t expecting to see another sister here, but it helped a lot.”

Quiana tilted her head thoughtfully before shaking it. "Nah, they were asking for it." She admitted with a grin towards the other Elidae. "I am sorry that we couldn't catch them both." She watched as the other Elidae continued shifting through the belongings. The ship pass did bring a chuckle to her lips despite everything. "Another Elidae on the ship, hmm? You may be fortunate yet. I bought some pastries with a Sister yesterday who is also traveling and was going back to see if there was anything else I could horde for the journey. If you need something, I may be able to spare a coin or two." At least she could get overseas, those tickets could be costly and Quiana didn't even want to think about working for passage. That would have been unfortunate indeed.

"I suppose the other question is...do we return what doesn't belong or go about our way and make due with anything interesting to make up for the loss?"

Vetra just shook her head. “It’s fine. Just means I don’t have to go with my tail tucked between my legs.” Oh, her mother would have been thrilled to see her back so soon. The older woman would have been concerned, of course, but she also wouldn’t miss the chance to gloat.

“You’re going to Yael as well?” That tidbit caught Vetra by surprise and it showed. “Honestly just some company while we travel would be nice enough. I can’t imagine there will be many Aishans on board, but – well, there’s already two more than I thought so maybe I’m wrong.”

Looking over the loot, Vetra took a moment to process it before taking a breath and standing. “I wouldn’t know where to start giving it all back so maybe just hide it somewhere nearby? So no one else takes it before whoever comes to pick up this louse-“ She hooked a thumb toward the Kahi, “-can find it. I’m pissed at losing my gold, but not enough to take from others.”

"Fair enough. Though I'd say if there's a will then you'll always find a way." As much as she hated having to put extra effort in and would have personally cursed any thief who forced such a decision, Quiana realized that even she wouldn't have given up at this point. She could only hope the other Elidae had good motivation pushing her forward to travel and if not then perhaps it was for the best.

"Matori for me, it's a stop for them to replenish supplies and pick up more before going to Yael." Quiana smiled. "If you're heading towards Yael does that mean you're visiting Zinris?" It was a place she thought she would visit once...if her mother had been there. Her own grandmother couldn't stomach the idea of the place, too many mixed emotions and loss from the prison that the Extremists had turned into a home. Yet there was just something about it that made Quiana curious. One day she would perhaps visit...if only briefly just to experience what her grandmothers had endured for so many years. "Honestly, I'm surprised that there's three of us. I also thought I would be alone on this trip. The other Elidae is visiting Chibale though, this ship is just our best bet since not too many go that far overseas." At least not that often, not that she knew of.

"A decent choice." Teased Quiana before glancing around, the Elidae looking for a secure spot. "Maybe over there by the edge of the docks? We just have to hope no more thieves are running through the area today and that someone helpful stumbles on the belongings."

Vetra nodded. "My girlfrien- friend. Friend who is a girl is there already and I'm meeting up with her so she's safe while she travels." Was that too much? Calling Enya her girlfriend? She hadn't even asked her yet, but...they were already so close and they acted as if they were dating so surely when she did ask it would all be okay.

"Just gotta make sure we're not being watched from the water, too. The other thief might have vanished or they could be hiding out, waiting for us to leave." Honestly that's what she worried about the most with leaving their culprit behind. As soon as they turned their backs their 'friend' could show up, cut the net and flee. Or, most likely, take the loot and ditch the other.

As she started picking up the lost treasures, Vetra asked, "What's in Matori? Chibale I know, but I can't imagine much in Matori for one of us."
