Fang had obtained himself a hunting license—thanks to Soleiyu. So now, at least, he wouldn't get in trouble if someone important caught him out here. Last time... He shuddered, not wanting to think about it. At least one of them had been nice—and Zac had been so wonderful.

His heart ached to think of Zac, when he knew the truth of his feelings. Knew that it wasn't possible to chase them down. As much as he wanted to, he couldn't do that to Zac and to Talia, no matter whatever it was that was going on between the two of them. Zac didn't deserve the distraction that Fang would be.

So instead, he focused his breathing and chased down the hunt instead. Deer moved too quickly, so he stalked after a rabbit, keeping as quiet as he possibly could and ignoring the White Moon aura that popped up nearby. He had to hunt to put some of these feelings out of his head, not get distracted.

The forest was peaceful.

Cybele had been talking to a lot of people about what had happened to her, and about what had happened in general in the recent days of the war. There had been a lot of different reactions, a lot of different thoughts, and even a few questions that had been raised. It had been helpful, but also almost a bit overwhelming, and Cybele thought that it might be time to think through some of it on her own, or at the very least breathe some fresh air for a bit.

The woods were probably the best place for that. There weren't usually people around out here, except perhaps for a camper or two, but there wasn't enough traffic to make it a popular draining spot.

There was an Order aura here, though, and for all that Cybele had come out here to spend some time alone, that was enough to pique her interest. Had something dangerous happened here? She dashed after the aura, quick as she could.

When she saw a man with wolf ears chasing what sounded like a rabbit, she blinked once in surprise, but recovered quickly.

"Catching anything?" she asked.

Fang startled when he realized that the someone else in the forest had snuck up on him, nearly tripping over his feet and coming to an abrupt stop. He scowled a little as the rabbit disappeared unto the underbrush somewhere—ah, there wouldn't be any catch tonight. How frustrating.

He turned to the Senshi, tilting his head in curiosity—why would she ask such a silly thing? If he'd caught something, he would have gone home. He didn't over hunt!

"No," he finally responded, tilting his head back the other way and watching her. She seemed familiar for some reason...

Ah! "Princess!" he exclaimed, clasping his hands together and bowing slightly. "Sorry, Fang not see face."

Being Princess to people she barely knew was going to take some getting used to, but Cybele did her best to take it in stride, nodding politely.

Although her instincts took over for a moment and all sense of decorum left her as she heard the crinkle and thump of rabbit feet on leaves growing fainter through a patch of thorns and underbrush.

She winced. "Ah. I scared it, didn't I?"

It wasn't a very good impression to make on someone if she was running off their dinner when all she'd been wanting to do was check in. Hopefully, she could resolve the situation.

It did fall under her sphere.

"Here. We can find you another." She tilted her head, smile becoming a margin more genuine. "If I'm the Princess of the Hunt and I can't manage something simple like that, what good am I?"

Fang nodded—yes, she had, but he wasn't mad about it. For a moment, he'd been frustrated, but there were always more rabbits (until there weren't any and the endless hunger loomed before him again)—

He violently bit his tongue, because shaking his head would be rude.

"Princess of the Hunt?" His eyes lit up and he drew closer to her, tail wagging slowly. "What name? Fang never hear. Oh! Fang is... Fang," he said a bit sheepishly.

His wisp appeared, bobbing at Cybele in curiosity.

“Oh, I’m Cybele,” she said with a small bow of introduction, her cheeks going the slightest hint pink because she should have started there and not been distracted by the Princess. “You can call me that, I’m not expecting people to be so formal.”

She looked up again. “I like Fang. It suits you.”

It would be easy to remember for someone who seemed a bit wild.

“Now, my magic makes your senses better, and it makes you faster, too. Let’s see if we can find something.”

She whispered her basic magic, and an ethereal bow formed in her hands, which she fired at Fang before he would have too much time to think about the imagery of it.

Sailor Scout Attack: Hunter's Grace
A phantom bow forms in Cybele's hands. She shoots the bow at a ally, or straight up in which case it will target herself. When the arrow reaches the target, it splits and they are covered in its strange light. They are suddenly filled with concentration, their senses are sharpened slightly and their speed increases slightly. This state lasts for 30 seconds. It is useful for tracking and makes dodging attacks easier. While physical and mental strength is not increased, a fast attack at high concentration tends to do more damage than a normal one. She can also use the bow to threaten people, though if she does not shoot it after 30 seconds, it fades, using a use of the attack. She can use this attack twice per battle. If she is not targeting herself, she has to actually aim the bow. A knowledgeable enemy could knock it off course quite easily or even intercept it, gaining the benefits.

Fang puffed his chest up in pride, glad she liked his name. He already liked her—he struggled so much with formality, that even when he really wanted to give it, the difficulties he had almost ruined it anyway. Her telling him not to worry about it greatly relieved him.

He had enough time to c**k his head in curiosity as her magic appeared in her hands, but then—

The power flowed through him, and he whipped his head around, ears high and alert.

Fresh rabbit.

He knew without knowing he could move fast enough now to not worry about being quiet, so he sped through the underbrush, tailing a rabbit. Within moments, he'd caught it, and not wanting to waste what he might have had left, he shifted and chased another, snatching up the second just as the magic died.

Swiftly, he ended their suffering and brought them over to Cybele at a slow pace, face flushed with excitement and happiness.

"Thank you!"

Cybele didn't have to do anything else. She watched Fang shoot off like an arrow through the underbrush, towards some kind of prey that she couldn't quite hear herself, without the magic affecting her.

It seemed like the magic itself had done its trick, though, because it seemed like it was only a few seconds later that Fang was crashing back through the underbrush with his catch.

"Oh, well done!" she said, folding her hands proudly at her chest and grinning. "Two?"

She stepped a bit closer to inspect the rabbits. "Nice ones, too. Should be tasty, and of course. I'm always glad to help."

Hunting for food felt a bit more productive than hunting youma, sometimes.

Fang beamed with pride. The Princess of the Hunt thought he'd done a good job... That meant so much to him. Proud of him, who'd spent so long with nothing to hunt that he'd feared his skills had atrophied, but no.

"One for Princess," he said, offering her the fatter rabbit. "Would not have caught, if not for you."

Her eyes widened a bit in surprise as he offered her the second rabbit, but she smiled, too, and she took it from him, not about to turn down generosity. "Thank you," she told him. "I'm glad I could help."

It was nice to use her magic for something like this instead of for the usual endless fights. She still didn't know much about what had happened in her past life, but she thought that perhaps it had been something like this.

It was nice, too, to give back to someone who had been at her mission. Although, he was giving her a rabbit, so she wasn't sure if they were even, but it was close enough, she decided.

"I think I'm going to head home," to refrigerate the catch, and see if she could get that quiet thinking in on the way back. "But I'm glad I was able to run into you, Fang."

Fang smiled brightly at her, feeling warm and fuzzy. Friends. With a Princess. Another Princess. Wow!

"Fang happy, too. Have good night, Princess," he said, giving her another slight bow. He couldn't help the formality—it just came naturally.
