Ushiwa 1
He was at the local market with Salazar. He still had not found an appropriate home for the pride of his life. He had no more space for the beast or he would have totally kept Salazar for himself. The animal had a plain hide but a stellar soul and was an avid and quick learner.
Ushi gazed over the populace flowing by, a few people had shown interest but they didn't seem like a good fit for the critter so he got them interested in something else instead.
A familiar face walked by and Ushi hailed him a wicked smile played swiftly over his face and then was gone.

He was at the market, heading for a very cool paper stall when a familiar voice hailed him.
"Ushiwa! Well met!" He grasped the other hybrids hand with a firm, dry grip. "Hot out today huh?" He usually was inside his small cabin or on the veranda of said small cabin if it was cool enough. It was still better than Oba though with the breeze but he did like his cozy life.
"What can I do you for?" He asked, maybe the other male just wanted to chat. "Nice critters."

"Yes it is pretty crispy out today indeed." He no longer felt the weather really, so long as he wasn't in Oba, it was super dry and hotter there and even his outdoorsy butt noticed it.
"As for what you can do for me, I'm not entirely sure you can help but thought I would ask, because I know and trust you as a good man." He had watched Morleas face challenges and carve a new life out for himself in Matori and now he was well into being a budding author and as words spoken liked Ushi, the written word was somewhat boring for him if it wasn't critter training notes.
"You see, I have a very special critter that needs a new home." He carefully did not look at a lounging Salazar that had lifted his head up to gaze at their guest.

"Uh a critter?" He looked around at the animals that Ushi had with him at the moment. Most were small besides two snaptrotters and a chilling janarim. "Well, uh which is it?" He asked curiously. He had no critters yet and could possibly take on a small companion if it was a good match. He thought it might be cool to have a pet.
And he would also have helped out a friend. "You seem to really care about this critter. I knew your family were top notch but this just helps confirm it. I don't have all that much money but I could put forward a fair sized purse for purchase, as I know you would have something only of the highest quality and care."
He looked patiently and curiously at his friend. "How are the kids doing?"

Here was the tricky part. "He is rather special to me, so you see why not just anyone would do. I'm not even sure why I tried to sell him at the market when I knew that anyone off the street may try for him. But not knowing their background and the general high level of stupid around, well I couldn't just let him go to just anyone." He shuffled from foot to foot, and gestured at Salazar vaguely, knowing that Morleas might think it was the fat perzi behind him.
The janarim had laid his head back down now that he read his Master's body language. The water/fire hybrid must be a nice guy so Salazar would mind his own business unless called upon.
Ushi bit his lip trying not to smile. At least Sala was good with Morleas's presence and he hadn't been with the last few people who had tried for him.

"Hmm," He peered in the direction he pointed at..mostly. It could have been classified as a gesture more than a point? "The sleepy perzi back there? Yeah I could handle that, he could be my muse while I write." It was either that or Ushi meant the huge and fanged red eyed janarim that looked sleepy at least not hungry. He wasn't afraid but even he knew that was a fierce looking critter even if it looked as sleepy as the perzi.
Salazar had been lying in the same position for a while and he stretched...and yawned, putting all of his huge teeth in his mouth on display, yet his eyes remained calm. He stood and meandered to the edge of his chain length, mewling petulantly for attention, which came out more gutteral than he would have liked but it could not be helped.

"Er well, its not the perzi, but you have something in common!" He paused for effect. "You have matching eyes."
Ushi went to the janarim and unclipped the beast from the anchor point. He led Salazar over, his heart, he was ashamed to say was in his throat. If Morly did not choose to keep him then Ushi would give him to a family member and be done with the whole mess. His palms were sweating slightly though. He knew Sala would be a good boy, he was always the best boy.
"He has the best manners, better than most nobles in fact." He patted the thick neck stoutly. "The most dependable companion you could ever wish for." He held his breath as he saw the information click.
Sala extended a thick snoot to sniff at the earthling before him.

Morleas was a bit flabbergasted. He had indeed meant the giant janarim. At first he panicked a bit internally. But eventually the animals fine behaviour did penetrate his mind. The big boy was calm, cool and collected and even put forward a snout for greeting..a large thick snout but well he was a janarim.
"Ahem well, so not the perzi..." He put forward his hand for sniff snoffing as was protocol when meeting a new critter for the first time.
"Can't imagine why you are having such a hard time rehoming him." He giggled a little internally. The snout was surprisingly quite gentle and light of touch. The janarim stepped forward for a proper body scan and Morleas held himself still.
"The cream of the crop you said?" He would have to pitch out for a stable..even a smaller one.

"Yes that has been most of the problem. He is the best boy and no one else I found would be suited unless I foist him off on family but I was rather hoping that you would take him home..free of charge. At this point his hapiness and wellbeing mean more to me than the fat bag of cash I could have gotten at any point for him. He is like a son to me and I only want the best for him." He held out the lead line. "He likes you," Ushi grinned as the janarim sniffed Morleas from toes to pony tail.
"You woudn't have to worry about personal protection, he is warm like butter to his master and spicey like death pepper to anyone who has nefarious needs, quite responsive to emotions and souls."
Ushi was just so proud it nearly brought a tear to his eye but he had a rule of not crying in public.

He could see that the animal meant the world to his friend. And free was a most excellent price especially with the cost of start up.
And he had to admit the big beast was most endaering and having a mount would mean that he could travel further and see more to inspire his writing in near complete safety. Few could afford a janarim and fewer were willing to tangle with one to get to his masters purse. He could afford to feed the cirtter until his writing became more popular he had a big trust fund.
"Alright, well he and you have won me over, tell me what I need to do." He had wanted paper and had come away with something considerably more substantial.

Yes! He had won. "Good job boy." He praised Salazar who's perfect temperament had won him a good home. Morleas was kind and liked to travel. He would take excellent care of Sala.
"Thank you, you have taken a janarim of weight off my shoulders. He is pretty simple to look after, you can take him hunting and he will catch his own free range dinner. Other than that he needs some herbal supplements occassionally which I will provide for you and some scale polishing and feet picking and water. In return you get so very much more. He is truly the pride of our stable and I would not be selling him if we had adequate room. We would still be interested in his services as a stud once he has reached 6 years old."
He offered Morleas a herb pack. "Mix with honey and smear on his food biweekly. Keeps him in tip top shape."

"Ah okay." He listened to the instructions and put them to memory. He would take good care of his new companion and he hoped friend. "I uh can't really explain what this gift means to me, I know I am doing you the favor but I can't help but think that I have been given the better half of the deal. If you ever need the services of a writer you let me know. My friendship you have always had."
He bowed his head respectfully to the much older male, he was always impressed by the amount of scars the beast tamers had. The brothers between them had more scars than he himself had ever been injured. "I can't wait to show my Dad."
His Dad had been on a merc job for a long time but he was due back to Oba soon. Now Morly could visit in style.

"Think nothing of it, the issue has been bothering me for some time. Now that is over, I can answer the question you had that I forgot about earlier. The children are doing well. Most of on escapades of their one, my brother's kids are still prentices but well he was also a bit slower to mature than I. My kids have mostly grown up, Daanu my sweet daughter is still finding her way but her brother is a sea magic user, apparently he can summon a tentacle, creepy right? You should ride your new friend out to the ranch sometime and see for yourself how everyone is doing."
It would be a good bonding trip. "Do your best to get to know him, he is trained to the nines and a good bond will seal it all up nicely."
"Do me proud boy." He shook Morleas's hand again.

"I will Sir." It felt right to add the sir..Ushi was much older after all and had given him a free ridable well trained, well bred war beast. So yes Sir was fitting.
"I would like to visit sometime." Maybe his friend Nimia would come with him? That would be cool, maybe she could pick out a pet too. Ushiwa's ranch had quite the selection of animals from all over. Each brother tended to specialize in something different.
"Any good stories lately that I should know about for my writing?" It was question he usually asked all of his friends at least once every visit. There was no telling what tidbits he could get to inspire his hungry mind.
Though he thought that Salazar might be pretty inspiring. "What is his name?"

"Eh well I got me daughter back and that is what matters so I guess a long term kidnapping cold case went good? She is still very delicate so I dont think she herself would like to talk about it but she was basically adopted by a family in Yaeli and rescued by an Aishan couple and then with help we found her."
That was the coles notes of it anyway.
"His name is Salazar, you can change it but he does come to it. Kinda suites him, he is a big scary dude after all." He had picked the name for him when Sala became a teenager at the beginning of his training, before that the janarim were known by their hatch number and their Dam and Stud. He wasn't out of their new stud but oddly looked like him.
"Its about time to close up shop, let me get the critters sent back with a helper and we can grab a bite to eat. I am starving and I'm feeling merciful today so I will feed you as well."
