starting with my lieutenant

Sodalite was on his own tonight for the first time since he'd been brought into this whole mess of a situation. Not that it didn't have its perks though. He would have loved to be able to teleport right out of the gate but apparently the lowest of the ranks of the Negaverse had that ability locked out of their reach. It was fine though. Even without the teleportation aspect of the job being able to siphon energy off of the unsuspecting populace of Destiny City was just as well. The other prizes, that lay below the shell of a target, was something that the lieutenant wasn't exactly keen on taking out of a target's chest but if ordered to, he would obey.

For now though he watched with impassive eyes as the teenager's hand fell limp into the lap of another friend, also unconscious, as he stood inspecting the purple orbs that indicated a successful draining before staring at the display of the chess board before him. Sliding a piece towards the opposing color's end Sodalite murmured a soft "checkmate" before whistling more to himself than anyone else before standing up and stretching. Draining the witness to their match first had been a brilliant idea and then he'd put the offer on the line of returning the energy if he lost, but keeping it all if he won. Although subtly he'd been draining snippets from his opponent as the game progressed, just enough to cause the other to make mistakes.

"A shame really, you could have been a real tough opponent. Wonder if I should make the stakes even more exciting..."

Ametkhan had decided Ametkhan had decided that tonight was the night she would put her courage and endurance to the test. She knew it was a risk, but the potential rewards were worth it. Taking a deep breath, she began her patrol. Her legs moved on their own since they ached from track practice. It was like she no longer had control her body was just moving, and she excepted that. As she let her body move she kept her eyes peeled for any sign of trouble. That was when she suddenly sensed someone nearby. Everything in her knew she had to move in that direction.

As she got closer to the location she noticed the sense inside got stronger, and stronger. Until she was able to see someone draining what looked in her eyes to be a human. Anger bubbled up inside her. How could someone drain someone like that?! She was determined to stop the draining and take action. She quickly concealed herself and prepared to confront the person she saw. She had to put an end to this. It took her a few moments to get closer once she did she yelled out, "Hey you! Stop Now!"

For a moment the lieutenant watched the stream of purple orbs coalesce into his palm before he subtly began to pick up on the fact that he wasn't no longer alone in the park. There was an aura belonging to what Sodalite assumed was a senshi and he stifled the groan that wanted to materialize before choosing instead to ignore the shouted instructions of stopping what he was doing before he flashed a devilish grin towards the owner of the voice. Drawing one more large orb of energy from the already unconscious duo did Sodalite cause the orb to disappear before he tsked lightly.

"But where's the fun in stopping? This is payment for losing the game of chess. I played this girl with the condition that this would happen if she lost. And lose she did. Isn't it only fair that I get my payment?"

Sodalite's gaze grew even more contemplative, "although if you'd be game I could play you for a chance to restore their energy too if you like? If not we could just duke it out."

---

Somewhere that wasn't too far away from the unfolding drama was a certain Mauvian gently digging at a predetermined location. Illyria's mouth was set in a grim line as her sharp gaze took in the multiple indications that somehow, once again, one of her treasured caches had been found and ransacked. It caused anger to simmer just underneath her skin at the thought of her hard earned and sought collection of rocks were completely destroyed. As one more pawful of dirt was scooped out of the hole Illyria's body sank into a pall of despair as her earlier assumption came to fruition. Could people just not leave well enough alone when it came to the property of others? How low did one have to stoop to destroy such a loving testament to her beloved hobby? It would have been easy just to start all over again but still Illyria's claws were now unsheathed and she almost felt the need to sink them into someone's flesh.

At the sounds of what sounded like shouting Illyria turned away from her destroyed treasure trove before bounding towards the two auras that she was picking up in the vicinity: one aura was of order, the other was of chaos. Both power levels were the same but there was something that felt familiar to Illyria by now and she raced forward with renewed determination.

Ametkhan couldn't believe what she was hearing. How could a chess game ever determine something like this? No game was worth hurting an innocent human, at least not in her mind. Not only that, but how could someone turn such a lovely game into such an evil thing. The thought disgusted her, and made her think about if someone did that to her beloved sport track. Just the thought of it made her blood boil. She had to do something, she couldn't just sit and let this happen. She was determined to find a way to stop it, no matter the cost. She knew she had to act fast, before it was too late.

She didn't even have to think for a moment before she smirked and replied, "Fun? Well I can show you some of that! As for a game I'll beat you at whatever you want to throw at me. Since you will be restoring them no matter what I have to do."

She knew she sounded cocky but she was determined to do whatever was necessary to get that human restored. She was confident in her abilities and her determination to win was unwavering. She was sure that she could restore the human no matter what it took. She was ready to take on any challenge to achieve her goal.

Sodalite toyed with the idea of just bashing in this cocky senshi's head but at the last moment he seemed to reconsider his options. It would be amusing just to use his weapon to beat sense into the senshi that was spouting off about how it would be fun to beat him at whatever game he wanted to throw at her. I wonder if she'd mean that literally because I could throw my weapon at her but how much damage would it do if it hit incorrectly?

He took in the senshi's appearance for another moment before chuckling softly. "So, you think you could best me, at a game of my choosing? I highly doubt that. Besides unless you offer up some form of payment for losing, which you very well might, it'd be highly unfair to me."

If he could just draw her in ... just enough Sodalite could strike first and perhaps deliver something of a head start in his favor. He could play a fair game, but only if he really wanted to. At the moment he wasn't feeling particularly charitable.

---

Paws pounded the ground in even strides. Illyria's headlong run was coming to an end and she stood panting, trying to catch back the breath that had been needed for her sprint. For a moment Illyria couldn't believe what it was that she was seeing. That lieutenant and that mockery of a weapon that he held with seemingly more confidence from when she saw him last. Inching forward Illyria moved closer to the senshi that seemed to be challenging the Negaverse agent to a duel of some sort. It was perhaps a reckless decision but beyond the agent Illyria's gaze picked up on the two unconscious forms of civilians before feeling her fur fluff out. Well, did that change the stakes at all? In her mind she had to protect the senshi first. If all that was done to the civilians was some stolen energy than they'd be fine. But even as she sent her small frame winding around the senshi's ankles with a soft meow of attention did she pause to glare at the agent. If she recognized him, there was probably no doubt that he would recognize her as well.

Illyria was also alert to the fact that this senshi was brimming with untapped potential. She had trusted her instincts and they'd come through once again. But when was the right time to act? Her ears twitched as she caught the slightest twitch of movement from the lieutenant before she chance speaking, "be careful with this one. He's unusual."

Ametkhan almost returned her answer, but then she noticed a cat around her feet. Not just any old cat this one talked, which she had learned meant they were magical and something called guardians. She had only met one before, but he was unique to say the least. Somehow she was always running into these cats during battles, but she was interested to hear the advice.

"hmm is that so. Well thank you for that," she said with a smile in the cats direction before looking back at the Negaverse agent in front of her. She took a deep breath and a giant smirk grew on her face. "Yes, yes I do. Now as for payment what did you have in mind?" she asked as she made sure to not let her guard down.

She slowly put one hand behind her back ready to call her crocodilian ninja at a moments notice. She knew the cat had a point this one did seem odd, but not only that he wasn't attack which made her a little wary of his intentions. Since she had learned early on it's better not to trust your opponent will keep their word. So would this one really play a game or were they just wanting her guard down?

Swwet, gullible, trusting senshi. Always assuming that the Negaverse would play fair. Sodalite's mind was working quickly, drafting one scenario that was identical to the one that had just occurred with the civilian but somehow, in the back of the maelstrom of thoughts, he knew that wouldn't work as well. Glancing up to his future opponent he took in her appearance before simply discarding any hope of besting her in a race of any sort. Basketball could be an option as there was a court nearby as well and he had to wonder if any experience in running amounted to skills besides speed on the court.

It was about this time that Sodalite became aware of another presence and he glared at the one that dared to further intrude on this one v one he was trying to come up with before scowling a little. There was recognition he thought of this particular cat. He'd seen it before for sure. Given the fact that it seemed to be glaring right back at him made Sodalite pause.

"So payment you ask: I could always drain you dry and take you out of commission for the evening. And if you don't like that option well I could always take your life if you lose. One less senshi running around, foiling plans would be a boon to the higher-ups you know. If you win I'll restore most of what I took as fair payment. So that's the offer, take it or leave it."

Sodalite's gaze lingered on the feline at the senshi's feet. "One more condition though, whatever showdown we have, that cat at your feet has to agree to not interfere once things begin - otherwise you will automatically lose."

---

How dare ...

Illyria couldn't even finish the thought of the final condition that she'd heard pass through the lieutenant's lips. Knowing that if the senshi agreed to those conditions her paws would be tied completely unless she wanted to be the cause of the threats this agent was speaking of. If she couldn't act, then she wouldn't be able to do what needed to be done. Instead of waiting for the senshi to answer she quickly stood on her hind legs and stretched her body forward patting the senshi's legs for attention as much as she could.

"I have something that might help you out but I need to apparently do this now instead of later. Ametkhan, give me your henshin pen, quickly now."

Illyria didn't question how she knew the senshi's name without having met her before, but it had bloomed into her mind, just as she knew what this senshi's sphere was. If she could help her now, before this started, maybe she could tip the scales in Ametkhan's favor. But she needed the girl's henshin pen.
PostPosted: Fri Aug 11, 2023 9:17 pm

Ametkhan listened to his offer and wasn't very convinced by it. Yet she nodded her head, and said, "I could live with that. Only thing is if I win you will restore them all. Since my power is worth much more than what you took from them. " She knew she was right, but she had no intention of losing. After all, she had a lot more fight and bite in her then others may think.

As she was thinking where to strike first, she heard a weird condition. The cat? What on earth could the cat do to help her? "Well I guess..." she said before she stopped.

As she felt the cat paw at her leg and heard the cat speak. She knew it had to be important if they were going to stop her from answering. She was a little confused about why they needed her henshi pen but she reached in her pocket and handed it to them. If there was anything they could help her with, she was game. After all she wanted all the power she could, since she planned to beat this guy!

"Okay if you say so, but you might need to hurry. I don't think this negaverse agent is going to hold back much longer," she said with her eyes still watching him. She figured maybe while the cat worked she could stall a bit. "Oh and by the way I'm Ametkhan - Senshi of Crocodiles! Just so you know who your up against. It's rude not introduce ones self after all."

Sodalite's gaze grew calculated even as the senshi, no Ametkan, made her own demand in return that he would restore all the energy that he took if he lost. Well, he could always lie and say that he had returned everything even if it meant actually keeping a little behind for a restart of his quota. Besides there were other potential targets if he did lose this contest of whatever they were going to play at. There was the chance that just going full out brawl was the best option or he could coerce the senshi into a quiet game of chess. Even as he was busy finalizing his own plans he kept a careful eye on the Mauvian in play. The senshi had agreed to that last minute caveat but until they started whatever contest they were going to compete at, he wasn't able to control whatever actions the cat took. Even know it looked to be whispering to Ametkhan and Sodalite watched with an interested gleam as the senshi handed over what had to be the item that allowed her to transform.

What was he witnessing?

Was it worth anything to make notes on what he was seeing happen?

Sodalite moved to an unoccupied chess table before moving all of the pieces from his set onto the board design that was inlaid into the table before returning his gaze to Ametkhan. Brains or brawn, what should he choose to use against this senshi?

---

Relieved that Ametkhan hadn't questioned why she needed the girl's henshin pen in the first place made Illyria's job a little bit easier. Considering the restrictions that had been imposed on her as to not interfere with everything once things started was a hard pill to swallow. Because had she not restricted as such there would have been an awesome sight to behold as she fought along this senshi or at least made it possible for reinforcements to come along if it looked to be going poorly. Illyria instead took the pen that was offered to her, ignoring the sounds that came from behind where she assumed the agent was busy doing something. "Look, since you've agreed that I cannot interfere in this encounter I'm going to do what I can do to help you succeed before things start. Ametkhan, I believe that your starseed has been calling out for someone to come along and take notice of what needs to be done. Give me a moment and I'll have done what I can do to help you the most."

Placing the pen on the ground and then placing a paw delicately onto the pen did Illyria close her eyes and feel the power that was coursing through the pen and then the power that was radiating from Ametkhan's starseed. Placing absolute trust in the procedure Illyria mentally willed the pen to resonate with the power output that she was sensing withing Ametkhan before a soft glow exuded from the pen and she felt something click into place. Glancing down at the henshin pen now Illyria noted the minute change that spoke of a successful upgrade and she picked the pen back up before nudging it back towards it's owner.

"Ametkhan, take your pen and say, 'Ametkhan Asteroid Power, Make-up'. In doing so, you'll become Super Sailor Ametkhan, senshi of crocodiles."

Illyria fretted internally before backing away to see what would happen. She'd done what she could in order to help the senshi before things went down. Now she could only hope that the upgrade would be enough.
PostPosted: Sun Aug 13, 2023 6:58 pm

Ametkhan wasn't exactly sure what was going on, and what the cat the cat was talking about. She decided though that if her starseed really was calling out, maybe this cat was helping her more than she knew. As she watched the cat hand back her pen she grabbed the pen in her hand and nodded. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. "Thank you," she said to the cat before taking a deep breath before speaking the words.

"Ametkhan Asteroid Power, Make-up," she yelled as she held her pen proudly. She felt the power in the body grow, and it was as if something inside her had finally been released. Her body began to transform into a different but still comfortable outfit. Her tiara had more jewels along the side, she had new bracelets, her neckwear was more intricate, new anklets, and a stronger thicker bow belt. When the transformation finished she felt like a new person. The power and changes to her outfit made her feel like she could take on the world. But first she was going to start with the negaverse agent in front of her.

She turned to the agent and smiled with a bright grin. "I'm ready when you are. So shall we begin?" She entered her battle stance just in case this took a quick turn.

That damn cat. Okay so technically it hadn't interfered so Sodalite could not punish the senshi for breaking his conditions but nonetheless as he felt the aura of the senshi grow stronger after the cat had done something to the transformation pen made Sodalite extremely nervous and also at the same time the young man saw red. The last time he'd been face to face with the cat-then-turned girl she had shoved him headfirst into a brick wall and maybe, just maybe it was time to repay her for that significant bit of treachery. Even as the senshi, no super senshi, stood experiencing the first few moments of being at a new level of power did the lieutenant choose to act while things were still up in the air.

Almost casually, but then picking up speed did Sodalite close the distance between himself, Ametkhan and the cat before he made his first move. It wasn't Ametkhan that he lashed out at though. ... He felt the impact as his foot struck the Mauvian squarely in the side. If it had been a normal cat, Sodalite would have felt awful for the pained yowl that was heard as the feline went flying out of sight. He then launched himself at Ametkhan and in a smooth motion tried to strike the senshi in the head with his weapon. It might have been a kid's toy but it still packed quite a punch.

"Miss Ametkhan, pleased to meet you. I'm Sodalite and I'm going to be the death of you," even as he spoke he tried snatching a little of the senshi's energy as he was in close enough proximity. If he could tire her out ... he could still come out on top.

---

Illyria had been fearing that Ametkhan wouldn't have understood what she had been talking about. Though the senshi had allowed her to see her henshin pen and to then perform what needed to be done the Mauvian hadn't been sure if Ametkhan would have followed through. The sense of relief that permeated her tiny body when those words were yelled out into the night wiped away any doubt that this new super senshi would have the strength to take the lieutenant on in an one on one scenario no matter what contest played out. Now though even as Ametkhan stood before her as a newly minted super senshi Illyria felt a burst of pride in herself and the crocodilian senshi before she heard rapidly approaching footsteps.

Illyria almost yelled out a warning when she found her tiny body sailing through the air. A pained yowl was torn involuntarily from her throat and the sense of pain associated with being struck by something hard was radiating out from her side. Fist, foot, weapon: whatever it had been though, she wasn't sure. All Illyria knew at that sudden moment was that she'd made her move in time and that whatever happened next she could not be a part of it. It was probably for the best even as her sudden flying lesson came to a halt via the convenient, or was it inconveniently placed, decorative shrub that eased the shock of landing but still left her in a lot of discomfort.

Ametkhan watched the cat get attacked and a fire flared up inside her being. Magical or not, how could someone attack something that was not causing any trouble? That was just something she couldn't stand to see, and she planned to do something about it. She watched as they came closer to her and smirked, "Death of me? As if you could! Rise - my Crocodilian Minions!"

She yelled those final words, and as she did two ethereal crocodiles were created. The crocodiles worked as a team as they headed towards her opponent. The crocodiles were ready for attack, and it could be seen in the speed they were going. She then tried to use her legs to jump backwards in hope of dodging whatever they were trying to do. She had no idea what this negaverse was planning, but she refused to be beaten - not today.

Honestly she had no idea she could even call a tag team of crocodiles. This power-up wasn't so bad. She just really hoped it was good enough to win this battle, and stop any other innocents from getting injured. She took a deep breath, a determined look in her eyes, and prepared for whatever came next. It was time for her and her team of crocodiles to take down the evil forces.

Quote:
Super Sailor Scout Attack: Rise - my Crocodilian Minions!

The Sailor creates two ethereal crocodiles this time. They stalk one target, and the crocodiles work as a team, as they seem to come out of nowhere and bite the opponent. (as if they were lurking underwater and then striking) Players can feel the sensation of teeth/biting and might even get whacked by a tail. This attack lasts for 30 seconds and can be used twice.

He might have only gotten a small second long burst of energy from the senshi before the connection burst and whatever he'd took was lost. It wasn't as easy to drain a target that still had the mobility to jump and dodge and all that fun stuff. Sodalite's gaze narrowed briefly at Ametkhan before he heard words coming from her throat and then he saw something that couldn't be real, could it?

Two ethereal-looking crocodiles were charging towards him with maws wide open and for a moment Sodalite remained frozen in place before shrugging off the distraction. Surely that's what it was only, just a distraction technique. He did admire the visible texture on the crocodiles as they neared him and that was probably the last thought that he had in mind before pain erupted along his leg. The sensation of having a crocodilian jaw clamped around flesh was more than he had been counting on. Okay. Breathe. Focus. His weapon would be useless in this situation as there wasn't anything that he could physically strike and suddenly this encounter wasn't going at all the way he'd planned.

Pain continued to shoot messages to his brain that it was time to retreat. With perhaps a greater degree of difficulty than was expected Sodalite found himself stumbling off out of the park. Every movement came accompanied by a few more sensations of pinpricks like the crocodiles teeth were still clamped down on the targeted areas. No, this battle was now out of his league, retreat was a must. Conditions completely forgotten about returning any energy to the teens he'd drained earlier - the best idea was to retreat with the bounty he'd gotten ... and the sweet feeling of revenge satiated on what he'd managed to do to that cat in the process.

(exit for Sodalite)

---

Illyria had managed to extricate herself from the bush that had been her impromptu landing zone with a bit of difficulty before watching the battle, short as it was, occur before giving the softest sound of pain. That hadn't really been a fair move but it seemed to have sparked something in Ametkhan and maybe taking one for the team was good.

Even as she hobbled nearer to the newly upgraded senshi she couldn't help but wonder if it had been entirely worth doing so in the end. She was going to definitely be sore for a while. Her voice was a little shaky as she finally got within range of Ametkhan before sighing, "congratulations Ametkhan, super senshi of crocodiles. Very nicely done."

It was then that Illyria realized that the lieutenant had left before fulfilling his bargain and she sighed and muttered under her breath that the Negaverse could never be trusted to keep its word.

PostPosted: Thu Aug 17, 2023 7:56 pm

Ametkhan was so proud of her crocodiles for landing that blow. They had done wonderful, and she was impressed by the strength she had in her new form. She watched as the negaverse agent retreated. At first she really wanted to chase after them, but honestly she figured why should she? All she hoped was one day she could meet them again.

"Well I guess that means I won," she said with a smile as she then turned towards the cat. Hearing someone say she did a good job made the feeling of success ever greater to her. She wasn't even sure she would be good at this senshi thing, but after this power-up she was starting to feel different. Something inside her felt like she could do this and help many people in the process.

"Well thank you, and thank you for all your help," she said with a smile before continuing, "Even though they didn't keep their bargain. I think it's good we got him away from the civilians. So it's a win."

Honestly she did think it was overall a good outcome. No more people were hurt. Just as she was thinking that she heard her phone alarm go off. An alarm that meant she needed to get home now. It was her turn to cook or order out and her parents would be expecting some sort of food when they got home.

"I am so sorry to battle and leave but I have to go. So thank you again and I hope we'll meet again sometime!" With that she waved, rushed off, and hoped that her parents would not beat her home. Since she really didn't know what excuse she would use if that did.

Illyria was happy that Ametkhan was pleased with how things had turned out and she could feel just the smallest amount of pride in how the teen had handled herself in the fight, however short it had been, and they had managed to drive the lieutenant out of the area. So it was a win of sorts. It would have been better though if she had been able to fight as well.

Even as Ametkhan's phone blared an alarm at her did Illyria wait for the teen to rush off before assuming her civilian guise in order to check on the unconscious teens that still were slumped over the now unoccupied chess table. Taking care did the Mauvian move the teens to a patch of grass before taking out a regular cellphone and making a quick call out for emergency services to come attend to them. Giving a precise location and deciding to turn back into a cat to watch from a safer vantage point did Illyria sigh in relief. The victims of the evening would be tended to ... and she'd need some TLC herself. She still ached something fierce from that blow from the negaverse agent.
