Nolan sighed as he checked on some more boiling noodles, sauce, and then finally towards the meat that he needed to cut up and add to the dish. It had been a busy day and it was finally moving closer to the time where the restaurant would finally stop taking orders and start to clean up. He was exhausted, but at least there were only a few more dishes to go. He looked over to the dish washing area to see how far behind the newbie dishwasher who had joined them for the last few weeks of summer. She appeared to be working hard at her job, and the plates weren't piled too high. Still, he would have to help her if she wasn't done by the time he was done cleaning his area. He yelled over to her, "You okay America?" He knew her name at least. And she seemed young. Perhaps too young to be working this job, but they did need a new dishwasher. Luckily the doors to the dining portion of the restaurant were closed, so the small amount of customers who were still here wouldn't be able to hear them. lizbot Please let me know if I need to change anything/whatever!

In response the teen flexed an arm and then gave it two peppy little pulls. Then she turned her head to call back and explain, "That'd me tooting the horn, Mr. Nolan, 'cause this gravy train is rockin' and rollin'!" This wasn't her first rodeo in a dishpit, after all. And this one was a lot nicer than the one at Uncle Frank's little diner down in Florida. The Easy Up had a great breakfast, but the place was pretty much held together with duct-tape, chewing gum, and Frank's nightly prayers. America would help out there whenever she was staying with him, and between the dishes and the Florida heat, she'd leave the place feeling like a slick of lard. As far as a last sprint to make money before school locked her down? This was a pretty good gig. And the cook was cute too. Well, he was also pretty nice, but a good view couldn't be underestimated! Hefting a stack of clean hotel pans over to his side of the kitchen, the teen asked, "So how's today stack up anyway? Is this sorta pace the usual busy, the not very busy, or the busy-busy?"

Nolan shrugged his shoulders as he finally prepared the last dishes, giving out a sigh as he moved them over to be oh-so-neatly presented on the plate. "People like pasta, I think more than making it themselves. Helps that we have good prices for the amount that we make. So for a weekday night? I would say this is about average. It's when you get to the weekend that people suddenly decide that they want to stuff themselves on it for the weekend. Makes for an easy meal at least." He in particular, loved the chicken Alfredo fettuccine bake. It was his one weakness meal from here. At least he knew how to make it at home! He looked over at the stack of plates she had just moved over towards him and the rest that were left. "Just imagine that amount, and then triple it." He said with a grin as he looked at her. He couldn't help but chuckle. "You'll have help then though, so it shouldn't be too bad." He finished making the plates presentable and moved them over to the counter for the server to take it. "So this is just a summer job for you? No plans on working during the school year?" He assumed she was going to school at least. They hadn't yet been able to have a proper conversation about it.

There was a huff of laughter from behind a tall stack of pans, when she off loaded them she gave Nolan a knowing look that absolutely didn't match her age. "Bunch of them are old people, right?" She went on in a quavering, raspy voice, "Can get three whole meals out of one of these! Two if my cat's feelin' Eye-talion."America giggled as if she wouldn't be exactly the same and probably even more excited to stretch a good, cheap meal over several days. "I'm gonna be at the Nun School for Bad Girls, so I won't be as free to move about all hours as I am now," she gave a shake of her head that ended with a bitter look. "But I don't wanna be bossed around by well-meaning adults who think they know what they're doing for much longer, so once I'm 16 I'm gonna get emancipated and pick my own damn school. Or drop out," she added darkly. "So I gotta maximize my summers and vacations. They're my 24/7 girlboss opportunities, y'know?"

Nolan laughed in reply. "Got to get their monies worth right?" He said, keeping quiet as he listened to what her plans were. He thought about what he was going to say for a bit before speaking. "Sounds tough. There's a school I could recommend going to, but it's more of a military school. Requires a uniform and all of that fun stuff. But it helps you prepare for the real world a lot more than these uh, more rounded curricular ones. Can't say that it would be your bag of tea, but if you want to excel at what you do and find more power in you life, I recommend it. No nuns at least." He said with a chuckle. He was sure that he wasn't selling it as well as he could, but he figured it might be hard to convince someone who wanted to be out from under the thumbs of people to go to a place where they would once again be under, different, thumbs. "It personally got me into a group where I felt like I could take more control of my own life. They'll also give excellent references for jobs once you graduate."

Perking up with interest as he described the school, America's brows scrunched up a bit by the end. "Is that the one school with the weird name? Like Constitution Heaven?" Letting out a gusty sigh, she explained, "My uncle tried to get me in, but my book grades kinda suck." The girl gave him a little grin, "I'm great at practicals though." It'd be nice to go to the less nun-y school, and something like a military school would be fine. Sure it'd probably still be restrictive on making money, but a place like that probably wouldn't waste her time either. Or remind her of her aunt, if she had to be honest. "I think I'm stuck with nun school for the time being, but d'you think they'd take a transfer later in?" Her voice turned a little wistful as her hands carefully washed a set of knives.

Nolan nodded. "Romano's Constitutional Haven. Named after the founder himself." He said with a chuckle. "I could be a reference for you too if you still have time to apply. And I'm sure they would transfer you in later." Anyone who they thought would be a good Agent of the Negaverse would be accepted in his opinion. Or they should be. They shouldn't be letting possible Agents slip through the cracks just because they weren't the best at everything. "It was still new-ish when I went there myself, but it's established as a good school now. You would just have to work a bit harder than you would in a regular school. Especially with physical activity. I may not have gone into the military, but it has helped me with my jobs so far." At least when it came to endurance and acting quickly. "If you ever feel like you want to transfer, just let me know and I'll put in a word for you."lizbot hopefully it sounds like he just isn't repeating himself >_>

The founder had pretty interesting ******** taste in naming schools was all America could say, and boy did she chose not to say it 'cause hell yeah! A reference!! "Would you really mister Nolan?!" The redhead turned into all coltish limbs and bobbing ponytail as she victory danced by the dishpit. "I'm down for hard work! I love hard work! It's just the soft bookwork that's a problem? And I can like...figure out some extra credit to fluff up my D's, just so long as I don't gotta be a super genius, okay?" Wiping her hands on her apron, she she pulled out her phone, "Can I get your contact? I can can keep you updated on how much a** I'm kicking in school so you don't gotta worry about tarnishing your good name with the Constituent's Harbor." She clearly wasn't gonna let him forget about his offer half a year down the road.
