[ Svadra 1 ]
They were lingering in a village on the outskirt of Alkidike territory, a familiar location where many of the hybrids trained. It was close enough to be considered part of the community, but far enough out where hybrid families felt comfortable settling and intermingling with their Shifter neighbors. Svadra was familiar with the sights of this area, considering it was where he trained the past few years. Recently being dubbed a warrior, the tall hybrid found himself sentimental of the past he left behind. Thus, he scheduled a long vacation back to Oba, where he could check on his family and see what his sisters had been up to.
His mentor, having caught wind of an opportunity, assigned him to help escort a hybrid girl on behalf of an old friend. He didn't have much to go on, simply a meeting place, and thus he wandered along the stalls of the market toward the designated location. He was still early, mostly a desire to find a way to shake his shadow. Crocus, having been raised in Jauhar his whole life, wanted to tag along, and Svadra was hesitant simply because his competitive friend was so...well...Crocus.
"This trip really holds no value for you, Crocus. I'm not going on a campaign to hunt down Dretch...it's merely a family reunion of sorts..."

[ Crocus 1 ] The bulky hybrid was shorter than the lean man before him, but no less intimidating. His dark coloring was something unfamiliar by most hybrids, and his expression was typical of what one unfamiliar with Aishans might believe they look like. It wasn't that Crocus was difficult, but he was a loner and didn't really follow the expectations of being polite. He wasn't raised in the Oban aristocracy like Svadra, after all. That being said, he found himself curious. The little adventure they went on (and totally were not capture because of) was enough to result in the man's desire to explore a bit more. And Svadra's little trip was a good excuse. That and he wasn't taking no for an answer. " I don't mind meeting your family. I'm curious to see why they chose to follow alternative paths than the Aishan way..."

Since she'd managed to find an escort for Teiluj on short notice she was pleased with herself. Of course the Alk felt bad that she couldn't do it herself but that just wasn't in the cards this time.
She turned to look at the hybrid girl. "We'll meet up with your guard and make sure you have everything you need." Dem wanted to make sure her friend had all that she'd need for her trip. "Did you want a map just in case?"

(post 1)The small discolored hybrid trembled as she sat on the ground while waiting with bated breath. Her Radaku curled around her like a protective barrier. Her knees pulled up against her chest with her arms wrapped around them, holding them close. Her mind racing with a series of 'what ifs' each one tumbled over the other in a never ending wave of growing dread. V'demhe's voice cut through the flood of worry and thoughts. Antenna twitching at the woman's care. She had to place her trust in the people Dem had chosen, even if she didn't know them herself. Thankfully the strong Alkidike beside her was staying to make sure that the guard that had been hired would be alright. Attempting to swallow a growing lump in her throat Teiluj nodded at the question of wanting a map. Yes she did, she would like one. To help her learn to navigate on her own this would probably be the best teaching tool she could get. Her friend was starting to really remind her of her mother lately.

Crocus was strong, he was determined and he was focused. But he really struggled in the art of subtleties, both with his actions and picking up on the comments of others. One needed to be upfront and direct with the man, and Svadra wasn't one to be either of those. The fact the two seemed to spend so much time together and not kill one another was a mystery even to him.
"Maybe you can go on ahead, then. I've got to meet with the girl I'm meant to escort to Oba..."
As soon as it came out of his mouth, he realized he hadn't yet told Crocus of this little assignment. He mentally cursed On'os for such poor luck bestowed upon this interaction.

[ Crocus 2 ] Well this was a development. Crocus was unaware Svadra had such an assignment, and his eyes narrowed at the thought. " And why wasn't I assigned such an assignment?" Of course, he wasn't the one planning to go to Oba, but that was beside the point. He was clearly the more suited of the two for a protection detail, being the stronger and more dangerous type. Svadra was a little too...distractible in his opinion. " Clearly there was a mistake. I'll make sure to speak with mentor when I get back." At this point they arrived in the marketplace, and Crocus looked around, " So where is this girl we're meant to escort?""

She saw the body language that Teiluj was putting off and felt a frown taking shape. V'demhe wished she could do something for her friend to give her more confidence. So the Alk took a step close before kneeling in front of the hybrid. "Hey.." She kept her tone soft as she reached out to smooth her friend's hair much like she would her own daughters. "It'll be alright. I made sure to find a hybrid guard for you. If I feel like they are too rude then we can always find someone else." Her main concern was making sure Tei was comfortable for the trip.
When her friend showed interest in having a map she smiled. "I'll make sure to get you a map. We can also ask your escort to teach you a few things." With nothing else to do on the road she didn't think that the person taking Teiluj would mind showing her the basics of how to navigate. "And when I get back to Oba I can teach you the rest." Dem would be making a return trip south when she was done in Zena. She needed to return Tytus as well as check in on the other earthling she'd taken in as her own.

(post 2)Shivering, Teiluj nodded her head at V'demhe's reassurance. She knew her friend only meant the best for her. Giving a weak grin as her hair was smoothed out. A hybrid guard would be a good thing, at least she hoped anyways. What if they thought she was weak? "That would be good, assuming you haven't found my mother. Or she... you." Teiluj muttered quietly. Trying hard not to draw any attention from the other earthlings around them. "And you'll have to introduce me to your daughter." The thought of that seemed to help brighten the Hybrids nature a bit and the trembling eased. Tao nuzzled back under her hand reassuringly. Nudging the young woman to uncurl a bit and was rewarded with several long strokes along his muzzle. A low rumble showed his contentment. "Do you know the guard personally?" Teiluj asked tentatively.

He resisted the urge to groan at his companion. There was no we in this situation, but once Crocus made up his mind, Svadra knew that was that. He narrowed his eyes at the smaller and bulkier man before letting his shoulders relax. He had a task to do, and wanted to get on the road.
"I'm taking the lead on this. If you want to tag along, make sure you don't mess things up."
It was a rare firmness from Svadra, as he took a moment to gaze around the market. It was hard to identify who they were meeting, since the patrons were a mix of full-blooded Aishans, hybrids, and a few Earthlings. Yet he had the advantage of knowing a unique trait to recognize the woman who made the request, and that was the rare legendary markings. Why this woman didn't do it, he didn't know nor would he ask. But when he saw the lush moss-like features, he knew that was who he was meant to meet.
"Found her."
He began to casually approach, giving the woman a moment to reassure whomever she was speaking with before they would start their greetings.

[ Crocus 2 ] As Svadra walked away, Crocus made a face and mocked him. He lipped the 'make sure you don't mess things up' before rolling his dark eyes, and popping his lips in anticipation. He was curious, excited, and interested, especially as they approached and he too caught sight of the legendary markings. This woman was someone who had been around long enough to make a name for herself, moreso than many others who he trained with. Curiously, he paused next to Svadra, taking a look at Dem before his eyes shifted to land on the hybrid girl. Well that was curious. Raising a round brow, he crossed his arms, not realizing it made his bulk even more pronounced and would probably put off the absolute wrong impression for her nervous girl before them.

Mention of her friend's mother caused her to nod her head. Maybe she could make a note to inquire about Maya's whereabouts during her travels. "If I find your mother I'll send her to you." She could do that at least.
"I do not know the guard personally but I was assured they would do a good job." And if they didn't then V'demhe would have to handle them and their mentor. She just finished speaking when she felt the presence of the others, apparently waiting for her to finish or to be acknowledged. So she stood back up to her full height before turning her head to look at the hybrids in question.
She took in each of them before settling on the taller of the two. The description she'd been given had stated that the guard was half Oban. The shorter, while dark skinned, didn't have fire traits. "Are you Svadra?" Dem made sure to keep herself between them and Teiluj until she was sure she had the right person.

(Post 3) "I'm sure she has her reasons for being gone." Teiluj mumbled her eyes shifting to look at the two approaching males. Her breath catching in her throat at the sight of Svadra. He looked like he had Oban blood in him. V'demhe speaking pulled the hybrids golden eyes back to her momentarily before shifting back to the Oban looking one. Teiluj was about to rise to her feet before her eyes took in the figure of the second male. On second thought she'll stay seated here. Content to let V'demhe block the path between them. She was told it was one guard, so why were there two approaching them. Did they have other business with Dem? Teiluj wondered. Shifting her posture in case she would have to take off running. Her antenna twitching.

Svadra looked quite casual in his loose outfit and pulled up hair. Even as a warrior, he appeared prim, proper, and well to do. Add to the fact he was tall and willow-y, he almost seemed ethereal in his looks. And yet, anyone could tell he was half Aishan, and many strangers gave him a wide berth.
"I am." he replied smoothly, a smile crossing his features, "V'demhe? My mentor asked me to help with a favor as I'm heading to Oba. You have someone who needs company?"
He glanced at Teiluj, partially obstructed but still a flash of skin and coloring available. A hybrid, one more diluted than most. He wasn't sure why she needed a guard, but he wasn't one to say no - he was already going that way.
"Oh, excuse my friend. This is Crocus. He trains with me under my mentor and decided he wanted to tag along on my trip home. He was not aware of the assignment, but he is someone you can trust all the same. And if not, he can simply follow along 20 paces behind carrying our packs."

[ Crocus 4 ] Crocus nodded when he was introduced, studying the woman before him and recognizing the unique traits. It was something they didn't see every day, and it was a smart enough to understand it meant power and respect. " We train with each other enough to make a solid pair. If you need protection, might as well have two than one."

At the return question of her own identity she nodded her head. As the other was introduced she looked toward him before giving an acknowledging head nod. He certainly had the appearance of someone who could be intimidating and if the guard she'd been told of trusted them she could manage.
She moved ever so slightly so that Teiluj wasn't quite so hidden behind her. "This is Teiluj. She's a dear friend of mine and she's in need of an escort to Oba. I need to make sure she's kept safe on the way there. I'm sending word to someone else to meet her there." Dem knew her daughter traveled quickly since she had Skeena with her so they may arrive in Oba about the same time. "I would do it myself but I am due in Zena to see my son and Teiluj has urgent business in Oba that can't wait." If it weren't for the timing then things would be easier.
She looked at Svadra as she spoke but her words were for the both of them. "Since you came highly recommended... and you are trusted by Svadra... I expect Teiluj to reach the city without a single scratch." Surely these two could manage that at least? "Oh, and would you be so kind as to show her the basics of navigation? I can fine tune what skills you give her upon my return."
