Brielle's first memories might have been of Chaos. She'd spent time as a puppet, a soldier, and some of that had stuck with her. Even now, her life might have been more focused around war and conflict than it was around everything else, but she was trying, with the help of those around her, to make time for being human on top of the rest of it.
She was getting better at feeling human, that was for sure. She was even learning to be a bit domestic, when the situation called for it.
Today she'd gone all out, knowing that she was meeting up with Momma who also wasn't having the easiest time of it, lately. She'd picked a corner of the park where the old-growth trees kept the picnic spots out of the sun. She'd spread the table with a cloth, and she had nice tea set out in a nice tea set, and there were tiny macarons from a nice bakery.
The tea was in a cozy to keep warm, and she didn't pour it yet, just arranged the skirts of her sundress so they laid properly. Even though it was warm, she was in booties that covered the state of her feet.
She found a wrinkle in the tablecloth and smoothed it, wanting everything to be perfect.

Claire was, of course, pleased to meet with her daughter for tea. She knew she had the tendency to pry and be too clingy, so she tried very hard to take her step back and give her children and family the space that they needed.
Meeting up with Brielle was wonderful, though. She arrived on the dot of their agreed time, and was in a sundress as well. She wore a large brimmed sunhat as well, to keep some of the heat off her face.
“Doe, my dear,” Claire beamed enthusiastically when she was close enough to be heard. She didn’t wait for Brielle to try and get up, but instead quickly knelt down beside her and wrapped her arms around her in a tight hug.
“This is so sweet of you. Thank you!” she gushed, clearly starstruck by how kind and considerate her beautiful daughter was. “I hope you didn’t take too much time getting all this ready! You should have had me bring something!”

“Not too much time,” said Brielle, although it has been at least an hour of getting all the little pieces together and making sure everything was perfect. She turned into Momma’s hug and even wrapped her own arms around her mother’s shoulders for a quick squeeze before letting go. A year or so ago she wouldn’t have considered herself a touchy person at all, but it was getting better in small doses from people she cared about. “But anyway, you’re always doing so much to look after everyone else. You deserve people taking time for you now and then.” As if to prove her point, she reached over for the teapot and began to pour out a cup, smiling gently. “Sugar?” She didn’t think that Momma needed it, since she was sweet enough, but of course she’d offer all the same. “How have you been?” She asked. That was probably the best place to start before she got caught up in the whirlwind of her own life.

When Claire pulled back, she couldn’t help but reach up to gently place her hand against Brielle’s cheek, and then tuck back some loose hair behind her ear. She was such a sweet girl who had gone through so much. She deserved as much tenderness as she could get, and Claire hoped a little would help a lot.
“Oh, yes please. Just a little. You must know I have a sweet tooth by now, but I’m trying to cut back some!” she laughed cheerfully and held out her hands to take the cup of tea once it had been made up for her.
“I have been well,” she nodded and then glanced up at the trees as if deciding on what she wanted to talk about. “Staying with Paris and Chris has been, well. A bit of an adventure with their two newest little ones. I’ve been helping Devyn get a gallery set up for Percy’s artwork. It’s almost ready to be opened, but I want to make sure it has enough security. Oh and I have a little bit more magic now,” she said with a whisper and leaned over the tea to make sure only Brielle heard her, but it was obvious she was excited about it.
“I don’t know what I can do yet, but I was out one evening and suddenly felt like I had some more magic. What about you, Doe? Are you well? Are you eating enough?” she fussed.

The tenderness was appreciated, and Brielle didn’t shy away from it. She returned it in her own way, stirring just a bit of sugar into the tea before handing it over, and then holding her own between her hands to soak up the warmth, without adding anything into it at all. A bit warm for it to be a truly cozy moment, but it was nice all the same. “The babies are lovely,” Brielle agreed. “You’re lucky to be able to spend so much time with them.” Although there were trade offs, she was sure, which was part of why she didn’t yet have children of her own. The late nights and time commitment seemed daunting, so she compromised with looking at pictures of the other’s kids. “And you’re going to have to show me this gallery. I’m dying to see it, honestly.” Her smile twitched to the side as she took a thoughtful sip of tea. “It’s almost funny that Devyn’s one of my best friends now, after how everything started.” Now they felt like kindred spirits, and Brielle was curious to learn everything she could about Devyn’s life and past. Her face really lit up hearing that Claire had gotten stronger, though. Try as she might, the magical war was where her focus lived. “You did? Can I see?” She almost looked like an excited child, in that moment. “Do you want to see my wings?” She whispered this, but no less intensely. “That’s sort of why I invited you out here.”

“Devyn has been such a delight to talk to and get to know,” Claire gushed fondly over her son-in-law. She was lucky to have so many wonderful, smart, brave young men and women in her family.
She still wasn’t okay after Beau’s death, but moments like this helped ease some of her pain. The least she could do was to keep a smile on her face and make sure her family was loved and cared for.
Of course, when Brielle asked to see -- and then if she wanted to see her wings, Claire almost inhaled her tea in excitement.
“Oh, that would be wonderful! I would really like to!” She was very obviously enthusiastic about any kind of show and tell, especially one that would let her beautiful daughter show off. She was just grateful that Brielle thought of her to invite her to a special wing reveal.
“When did you want to do it? And where?” she asked, almost too excited to wait, but she knew it was dangerous to just power up in the middle of the park.

Momma's reaction to everything, from Devyn being in their life to the concept of showing off each other's powers, was nothing short of adorable, and Brielle found herself smiling softly as she sipped, but did not chug, the rest of her tea. She also spared a glance around the area and over her shoulder just to make sure nobody else looked too caught up in the enthusiasm. Perhaps she had the reputation of being the reckless one, but she knew the basics of taking care, at least. It seemed fine though, so smile still on her face, she said, "Today. Now. Well, in a few minutes." The tea wasn't just for show. She really did hope to enjoy it. "But we can find a quiet place to power up and I can take you to Cybele." She considered. "Or we could do your Wonder, if you'd rather."

Another gasp of excitement. “Oh I would love to see Cybele,” she said in a hushed voice, because she didn’t want anyone overhearing them! That would be horrible if they got in trouble with the Negaverse while just having tea.
“We’ll have to see my Wonder some other time. I can’t say I’ve been there very often,” she admitted. Long enough to locate the ring she wore that let her communicate with others, but she didn’t have time to explore. It felt too lonely, despite it being beautiful. Maybe with someone else, she would be able to enjoy it more.
She was careful not to drink her tea too quickly. She really did appreciate the time and effort Brielle took to make this little tea party so nice, but she was now excited about wings!
And she tried holding still while she bubbled with obvious excitement.

"We should go up to your Wonder sometime," Brielle agreed while the two of them finished up their cups of tea. Cosmos knights all had such beautiful outfits that it made her wonder what sort of places they came from. But, if she was the one showing off today, that was fine. Her world really was starting to come back to life in a way that was nice, even if it had taken her a while to appreciate. After taking what she felt like was an acceptable amount of time to savor her tea, she side-eyed the macarons for a moment. "The cookies are portable," she decided, and grabbed the fancy plastic box. "There's a shed over there," she said, nodding to a building that she'd chosen a table near on purpose. Conveniently, it was mostly hidden behind a hedge to keep what Brielle assumed were unsightly mowers and other upkeep equipment out of sight. "It's where I usually power up if I'm in this area." Rising from the table, she added with a smile, "If we're lucky, maybe you'll see the deer butterflies, or even the rabbits."

“Deer butterflies?” Claire gasped as she stood up and practically lead the way to the shed. Oh, but she did stop to help clean up everything that Brielle had set up for them. She didn’t want anything left behind on accident!
“We should absolutely go up to my Wonder sometime. We’ll need another picnic. It’s lovely and open and you can really see the stars,” she sighed dreamily, and then once she was sure she wouldn’t drop her teacup, she reached for Brielle’s hand so they could walk together to the shed.
She was being careful! She was making sure no one else was watching! She was just enjoying the afternoon with her daughter! There was nothing strange about that, and definitely nothing magical going on! (That was entirely untrue, because Claire thought every moment she shared with her children was magical.)
“Okay I think it’s safe,” she said once they arrived at the location Brielle had nodded to. She didn’t see anyone else around, and she was almost too excited to stand still!

"A star themed picnic?" mused Brielle, as they made their way over behind the bushes. "For a star themed wonder?" She could likely figure out something like that, she thought. There had to be places around here that sold celestial cookie cutters, and Momma seemed to appreciate giving things small touches like that, so Brielle would do that, too. For now, though, it was her turn, and she smiled as she pulled her pen out of her bag and powered up. Of course she was just in her Eternal form for the moment, they were trying to do the opposite of causing a scene, but she didn't mind showing off this outfit, either. It was familiar, it was light. The shoes were a particular favorite. It was also enough to get them to space, and Cybele held out a hand. "Whenever you're ready," she said.

Claire was more than happy to gush over Cybele’s Eternal outfit. She didn’t tell her that she looked better in white than in black. She didn’t want to bring up memories that were better kept settled comfortably under good memories. But she was so proud of her for the young woman she was, and how far she’d come.
She reached out to take hold of Cybele’s hand, not even bothering to worry about anyone being around, because she knew Cybele was at least cautious enough to protect those she cared about.
“I’m ready when you are, Doe,” she promised with a bright smile, and then even though she didn’t need to, she closed her eyes so she could experience Cybele for the first time when she opened them again.
