HOBBIES.
metalhead: He's really into music. Specifically, he's really into metal music. Specifically, he's really into symphonic metal music, but he'll listen to just about any metal & to some extent he'll listen to a lot of rock. (Shamefully, which he will never admit to anyone, he does also deeply love Britney Spears.) If there's some form of metal concert coming into town, a decent chunk of the time you can find him there.
it was nosferatu the whole time: Madison spends a lot of time watching TV (he's a bit of a shut-in at times), and as a result he's developed fairly specific tastes. He likes documentaries - especially on miscellaneous things that the layman probably wouldn't care about - and schlocky monster movies. Also, good classic monster movies, but these days those are saved to be emotional comfort food. Besides that, he's always down for a fun splatter film.
windowsill gardens: Typically he doesn't have the space for any sort of full plot, but what Madison does grow, he can; it saves on the grocery bills, and it brings a little sense of home to his apartment, besides. Flowers for atmosphere, and then herbs for cooking, and radishes and tomatoes and scallions and who knows what else also for cooking. If nothing else, it reminds him to get good light in the apartment; considering everything else, that's a good thing.
pressing flowers: It's relaxing, Madison says, and then he gets a little defensive about it. He ends up with a lot of miscellaneous flowers anyway from the windowsill gardens, and oftentimes he'll find things when he goes on walks that he'll take back with him. He's not incredibly good at it, but he likes it.
VIRTUES.
aren't you tired of being mean. don't you just want to be nice: Being nice doesn't come naturally to him. Not by a long shot. But Madison's tried out being an a*****e, and ultimately it was an unrewarding, miserable experience that just went on and on and he lost a lot more than he really meaningfully gained, so these days he makes that intentional choice to be decent and kind. Sure, it comes with side effects - nobody really takes him seriously or thinks he could be a threat, nobody really respects him - but... ultimately he'd still rather be this way than burning himself down just to spite everyone else. Madison might not always be a nice person, but he generally tries to be a decent person, he thinks.
cautious: Madison doesn't usually rush into things half-cocked. It's not even that he prepares -- but he's an anxious person, and he'd much rather think through everything before it happens, and practice any given precautions unless he is exceptionally sure it'll be fine. He'd rather do something he knows works than try something totally untested, and he's very skeptic of unnecessary risks. It keeps him safe and stable. What if the one time he skips the extraneous steps it blows up in his face? No thanks!
protective: Madison might not be his brother's keeper, seeing as he's an only child, but he makes himself into his friends' keeper a lot. What's he supposed to do when they go off on flights of dangerous fancy, just decide it's too much trouble and hope they come back okay in the morning? He'd love to, actually! But he'd stress himself out so bad over that specific brand of not-caring that he ends up having to make sure they're safe, one way or another.
common sense: Occasionally at a premium in Destiny City, but it's kept him alive so far and almost entirely uninjured. Sometimes what you really need in life is to look at something and decide nope! that's tempting fate!, apparently.
FLAWS.
paranoid & high-strung: Madison is an anxious guy. Madison is a really anxious guy. Madison regularly stresses himself out so badly he gets severe chest pain from it. Routinely he overthinks every little reaction and every physical action; in theory he's a decent fighter, but in practice he gets too in his head, freezes up, and gets his a** kicked. His worries about infinite possible unpleasantries have rarely taken him anywhere good, and anything and everything might be a sign things are going wrong.
aimless: Ultimately, Madison doesn't know what he wants to do or who he wants to be or even what he's good at, and the semi-frequent instability of his own life has dissuaded him from trying to make plans or ever figure any of the aforementioned things out. Most of the time he's undermotivated and going through the motions. Sure, he had big dreams when he was younger, but... he should've known better. It didn't work out, anyway. One nasty side effect of this is that he's not particularly assertive; why bother when he doesn't have any real goals in the first place besides make rent?
bystander effect: Madison just doesn't care all that much about the outside world; a lot of the time it means he comes off as callous and uncaring, although not necessarily cruel. He's got his own issues and problems to deal with, and someone else will call the cops, right? But he doesn't want to get involved. He needs to take care of himself, first, and he's not even good at that; how is he going to get mixed in with anyone else's problems? Someone else can stop the mugging and be a hero; all he wants to do is get to work on time.
reticent, untrusting: Getting any meaningful information out of Madison can be like pulling teeth; he'll say a thousand shallow things, all of those normal social contracts and things you tell others in a group, but not a lot more. It's not that Madison doesn't like people, it's just that he doesn't trust them. As far as he's concerned, it's the way of the world that other people may, thoughtlessly, hurt you with what you give them. Ideally you do not regard him in any specific way -- or even regard him at all, thanks, he'd love to be below notice.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
eyes: Dull green (#6F8E6A, #82A67D, #77AC6F range). Half-lidded a lot of the time. Perpetual eyebags.
hair: Dark brown, roughly chin-length, wavy-almost-curly (between 2B and 3A). Not long enough to style outside of a wimpy little ponytail, and his bangs are just long enough to get in his face. He keeps meaning to get it cut, but...
face: Pointy, angular, long nose. Fairly heavy freckling. Cartilage piercings in his left ear; standard stud in the right. Generally looks fatigued and disappointed. Has a nasty scar stretching from right in front of his left ear to the underside of his chin from a youma attack a few years ago, although it's usually pretty covered by his hair. Prone to getting a scruffy mustache and beard every couple of weeks.
Skin Tone: Pale, in a way that implies he probably could tan if he spent extensive time out in the sunlight, but he never does. Somehow he's still got a lot of freckles despite that. Sleeve tattoo on his left arm of waves and flowers.
Body Type: 5'5ish, tends to wear platforms to make him a little taller. Long legs, long fingers, a little underweight but not concerningly so; he just naturally doesn't put weight on very fast, if at all, though with his appetite you'd probably expect him to. Skinny, ectomorphic guy.
Clothes: Madison has basically one outfit, and he wears it every day of his life; dark blue pullover hoodie, some miscellaneous t-shirt, worn-out jeans, and sneakers. Typically he likes layering, dull colors, heavy fabrics, and clothing that's either not particularly gendered or definitely leaning more masculine. He wears a lot of dark blues and greens and greys and reds, and he might be allergic to bright colors. A lot of the time he's got a cigarette.
If you can successfully coax him into it he does own a lot of fishnets. His clubbing eboy past haunts him to this day.
Madison bears an almost exact resemblance to Alexis Montague's human glamour (as far as palette and frame goes; the two dress very differently & have very different hair lengths), to the level of an identical twin. If Sailor Róka had died and reincarnated normally instead of being kept alive on their planet, they would have been his twin. As stands, Madison is an only child.
