He was ...pet shopping. Not that they needed anymore than they already had. But what did you do when you got the surrogate pregnant? You got your mate a new pet to show that they were the one that mattered in their life.
Thus he was at the best place to get fancy pets, the Ranch of the Ninyelt clan. He approached the gate and rang the bell waiting for someone to come.

For once she was spending a night on land and despite the solidness it still swelled underneath her like she was on the waves. The sensation always made her smile.
"I'm coming, I'm coming," she screeched. Everyone was busy with a janarim that was egg bound and the rest held Xarthin who had fathered them. Thus someone had to answer the bloody gate bell.
"How can I help you?" She asked sweetly...enough.

He had been expecting one of the sons and daughters of Kiyelt..not...whoever this was...she looked like Ushiwa but most definitely was not.
"Hi I know your Dad..." He thought he did anyway, this whole clan looked..similar. It was hard to make heads or tails of them on the best days when they were scurrying around and mach 3.
"I'm here to buy a critter."

She looked him up and down slowly. Handsome. Shifter. Something similar to her own fire flickered brightly behind his eyes. She chewed her gum and spat it out.
"Follow me." She did not play nice and thus had no need for niceties. She could be polite but well, if he left she wouldn't have to deal with him would she. He should be grateful she didn't feed him to a snaptrotter.
"What are you looking for?" She asked in a nearly bored tone. No need to beat around the bush.

This er lady wasn't very ladylike...Isaris made a better woman and he was all male. Val shook his head behind her back when she turned. He wanted a pet or he would have walked the opposite direction with a nonchalant gesture.
But this was the best place for pets of high breeding and the rest of the family wasn't this...spicey.
"I'll know it when I see it but something along the lines of snapper, janarim, keldari or perzi."

"Very well." They had all of those species in abudnance, she would show him what was available and hope that the right animal jumped out and bit him earlier than not. She had things to do. Like books to read and pet to...pet.
Being a captain was hard work and this was techinically her NON working shore leave. But she was full of fillial loyalty.

He squinted at her. She said about as many words as he ever did, unless it was too Isaris, then he never shut up.
"You would be Ushiwa's daughter then?" She had an edge that he didn't think Thallassa was capable of producing, happy go lucky good time ol radaku that he was. Ushi was more..rabid. Way more dangerous on the regular.

She turned and grinned brilliantly at him. A feral grin. One that tended to terrify the townsfolk like a shark followed by remora and a school of smaller terrified fish.
"However did you know?" She fingered the snaptrotter bone hilt of the knife that perpetually rested on her thigh.
She was always..edgier on land. The sea calmed her as her element.

He remained unphased by her ..charm. He was also an apex predator and he was not afraid of this fledgling, at least not until she got her flight feathers and by that time he planned to be well in the bush holed up with Isaris and their kids.
She led him to the snaptrotters first but well nothing grabbed at him. They already had many small toothy things at home, it may not be the best to get large toothy things. And something about how..reptilian they were.
He shook his head, finding words in this case unneeded.

Instead of nodding she angled her head and side eyed him. Onward they went to the janarim with much the same result. Crossing her eyes behind his back as he stood with stiff shoulders in front of her she wondered when this day would be done and she could get back to her love affair with the sea. This was no doubt why she spent so much time on ship deck, not only that but she was captain nee goddess out there among those waves. Her eyes lost focus for just a moment, then she whisked him off to the next species; the keldari.

He stared despondantly at the snakes. "Nope, hopefully Perzi is the right fit. Maybe should have started with them." He rubbed the back of his head, slightly embarrased though this was her job if she had answered the gate.
He was starting to get hungry. He needed fuel and no small amount of caffiene. Maybe Isaris would oblige him with hot rum later. It was a long trip home but worth.

She couldn't control it anymore, she heaved out a big sigh and determined that she would be taking one of the fastest janarim out for a ride later. She craved speed and anything but this seemingly slow death due to boredom on land.
Handsome was as handsome did...nothing. She glared at their guest. Her Dad would have booted him off the property by now. "How did you know our faimily?' She was irritated now. Not that she hadn't been before but he was in her sights now.

"Your..grandfather fought with my Father. I am much older than I look." Thats it he was growing a beard, consequences be darned. He was tired of this baby faced nonsense.
"Perzi." He reminded, not putting up with her spark. He could go off like a hydrogen bomb or he could get his cat and leave. He wanted to go home. More than he wanted to fight this minx in the dirt on her home ground.
He didn't give a darn.

"Wow you are old." She didn't care if she ruffled feathers. She was born to do it. Born to pluck even. She shook her head, letting the light of battle there dim. Old fart probably wouldn't put up as much of a fight as his fit self led her to believe. Boring!
"Aye," she purred. "Perzi." The sooner she got rid of him the better off she would be.

He had a very sneaky suspicion that they were cut from the same cloth. He supposed he understood others now when he drove them vaguely mad. He was so grateful he had found a mate that would tolerate him. He pittied the male that tried with this one, like as not they would wake with a spare knife in their ribs should they irritate her sufficiently.
He thought of Isaris and home wistfully. It had taken him forever to get down here.
