"The waning moon strikes the still pond and two leaves gently drift down, the resulting ripple is delicate, lasting one....two...three...four seconds before stillness returns once more." Sindri's gentle monotone narrated the motions, merging with the general ambiance of the night rather than breaking it. It was late, just after a midnight, and she should venture back to her store and recording studio soon. But she'd slept in quite late earlier, and hadn't gotten a chance to observe today's signs. It was an important thing to share on her show after all. People were relying on her advice tonight in order to get through their tomorrow!

Clicking her small tape recorder off, the petite medium squatted down to peer into the waters. Had there been an unusual movement further out? A soft splash? Maybe this too, was a sign sent for her to behold and interpret for the sleepless masses of Destiny City.

There was one again a movement, a series of ripples moving toward her. Slowly and then in a rush! A hand shot out of the water, reaching toward Sindri and she...took the hand, without thinking about it.

Heels hit the ground as the figure ran towards the signature, a youma was near, the ssenshi had been just returning to Destiny City from a trip to her homeworld. She'd been slowly, but surely, visiting in order to dust and clean things. She would from time to time venture out for a walk, to see the other manor houses. She had slowly started to venture out here and there, because she wanted to try and dust and clean if only so she didn't continue sneezing when there.

When she'd returned to the park she'd felt the signature of a youma and had headed for it, rushing to get there, no one else was around in order to take it out. Before it could move she wanted to get there and deal with it, otherwise it would leave the area and find someone to attack.

What she wasn't expecting was to see the youma, reaching out of the waters surface wit ha hand, and some civilian was reaching for it. "Don't touch it!" Shouting while pointing at the figure coming up and out of the water.

Oh, another person had arrived on the scene? They were shouting don't touch it but it was entirely too late. Sindri had already clasped the waiting hand that immediately tried pulling her into the water. Well, she had no intention of getting wet tonight, and so chalked this up a test of sorts. Trying to pull the Pond Being up, she clicked on the recorder in her free hand and began to narrate.

"The hand reaching out from the unexpected depths is attempting to pull me dow-" she grunted softly. digging in her heels and putting her extremely unimpressive weight into it. "Down! But persistence and struggle and..."

She looked at figure in unique clothes that had tried to warn her, "...the aid of the winged one, keeps my head above waters. Breathing well and whole!"

The figure in the water's head rose, revealing a catfish-like face.

Sindri gasped, "A catfish! A chance to further open The Eye!" She turned her attention once more to the other woman, checking to see if she was aware of how important and wonderful this was.

Further open the eye? What in the world this person was talking about Nephthys had no idea but she did need to stop this, this was obvious insanity. The human was recording it and not even scared for their life - like they should be! She wasn't much for fighting, despite being eternal, but she wasn't about to turn away from a fight either. She still ahd her wings and that put her in a place of power where she could do something, something more than a civili andn more tghan a basic senshi, she had to act.

Acting was just what she did.

Cupping her hands in her lap she semeed to be throwing water, only there was no water in her hands to throw, instead what came out was several bats. "Bats in the belfry." Her magic setting to work as the bats went for the youma.

"Get away from that creature!" Shouting now as she came closer, reaching and grasping at the civilian, aiming to pull her away from the youmas grasp and keep her safe.

"That thing will kill you."

"Ah! The Winged One....!" Sindri gasped, as she was briefly pulled in two directions at once before the woman's strength overwhelmed whatever was in the water. Panting but still not at all properly afraid, she moved to bring the recorder closer once again, "The Winged One pulled me from the danger as bats! Bats!" She seemed outright joyful now. "Five bats descend upon the water being!"

The creature began to sway up and out of the water, as the bats descended upon it, the swaying grew more dramatic, each step growing slower and slower. By the time it reached the shore of the pond, it was slumped to its knees on the grass.

"I'm not pulling you away from the bats, those I summoned, I'm pulling your away from the creature ion the water." She wanted to say youma, really she did, because she knew what it was. But she wasn't about to say that to whoevber this was filing things. It would get out online somehow and she was certain something would happen from that, though she didn't know what, someone might just decide she knew too much using that word.

"Good." Her bats had done their job and drained it of energy. Letting the girl go the eternal headed towards the creature, kicking at it with a booted foot. It wasn't dust yet...so it was still alive, right?

"You can't just go grabbing at strange things coming out of the water, especially when it clearly isn't human."

"The Winged One takes a step, and turns the Deep One to ethereal motes." The youma's dust blew off into the water and once again, Sindri is squatting by the water next to her savior, watching the remaining bits float away.

Looking up at the other woman, Sindri finally spoke directly to her with clear admiration, "Thank you for your blessed protection, o'Lady of...Bats? Is there anything I can offer you in gratitude?"

Bending down, since the youma was clearly gone, she turned her eyes onto the civilian. "Sailor Nephthys, that's what you can call me, it's easier then Lady of Bats. I'm the senshi of vampires. And that, what was after you, was a monster that could have killed you." Shaking his head she smiled and stood slowly, offering a hand to the other.

"Watch what you do in this city, it's dangerous especially at night. That's when those sorts of things come out." Though she was certain they would, and did, come out during the day she also figured it was rare. They would be more easily seen and caught by senshi and knights. It wasn't a good idea for a youma to be out during the day; though they also weren't known to be that bright either.

"What had you out here tonight?"

"If it killed me, then that's just my fate," Sindri explained, taking the hand in both her own, the light flush on her cheeks invisible in the dark. "To die such an interesting death, I could never complain about that possibility." It's possible that mentioning monster coming out mainly at night may have an opposite effect.

"My name is Sindri, and it's most providential to meet you this evening." Taking a good look around them, she finally remembered to turn off the tape recorder. "I was out looking for signs and portents, to pick up what the world's energies are trying to convey." After a moment she added, a little more frankly, "My radio show airs in a few hours, and I like to offer fresh omens to my listeners."

"That might be but it's a life wasted to die as young as you are." Not that she herself was that old, she wasn't, but the other seemed younger and a cvilian as well. She had a life ahead of her, perhaps more than the senshi herself did, as they weren't involved in this war going on.

"And no one would know how you died or that you were dead. it happens in this city all too often." Too many people died in this fighting, from fights or youma or other things, they just round up as missing people and sometimes even had flyers made by loved ones looking for them. It might even make the local news. Most of the time no - nothing.

"This cities energies are telling people to leave." She half joked, she was half serious. This city had it's own magic but also a war going on, one which was dangerous for civlians caught in the cross fire, but this city in general wanted people to leave. It wasn't safe. "In a few hours? it's midnight already, at what time does this show of yours air?" Never mind she was giving omens to people, it had to be some sort of psychic thing, but that was why she was out here at the lake almost getting herself killed. "You need to be safer or you won't be alive to give omens to anyone."

"Oh...but I think it'd be lovely to become someone else's mystery, it would be a beautiful way to live on in thought, if not in body." Death, to Sindri, was simply the greatest adventure awaiting her, not something to be sought, but something to find her. Something she didn't intend to hide from.

"It begins at 3am, on 139.9 AM," she dutifully advertised. "If you're up late nights, you should listen. Maybe it'll help you!" Help her to sleep, help her to stay up, help her to predict the day...surely it'll in some, vague but well-meaning, way.

"If you ever want to be a guest on the show, you can contact me here." The petite mystic pulled out a business card with her number, along with the location of her shop.

Ok,this one was very strange. She didn't know anyone who didn't try and avoid death, even those who fought in the war tried to avoid dying. She tried to avoid dying even though she no longer ran from the idea of a fight, as she'd just run right towards one, but to look at death in such a way. It seemed like something you might hear from Wednesday Addams or a similar character.

"I am at times up that late." It depended on what she had gotten into, or if she was just returning home from space, it did depend on things. But such a late night, or early morning, show didn't seem like one which would have a lot of followers. Perhaps they listened at a different time online?

"I don't know what good I'd do for your show...but I'll listen." She might as well, it sounded interesting, in an odd sort of way. This one didn't fit the image she had in her head for someone like this, with these views and this hobby.

"Just take my advice and don't go near those sorts of things. I don't know if they can yank yhour soul from you...but if they do you won't be reborn. They'll consume it and you won't be reborn. Rebirth is a thing, I can tell you that." Hoping the other would at least understand that. Because she wasn't sure if a youma could pull a starseed, she knew an offier could and could feed it to a youma, she knew the cycle of rebirth would end with that.

"There are things going on in this city, dangerous things, which I can't fully explain. But please keep yourself safe from them."

Hand reaching up to her chest in alarm, Sindri stared for a moment, her paling complexion hidden much as her earlier flush. The threat of losing the chance to be reborn did strike a cord. A loud one, "Oh...I did not..." her hand gave a little flutter, unsure and clearly frightened. She gave the pond another glance.

"I will be much more careful, thank you for your warning, dear Lady of Vampires."

Pulling out her phone, she decisively requested an Uber to pick her up, instead of the planned walk home. Looking at her savior once more, she recalled that the question of an offering had never been answered. Tilting her head to the side to show her neck, she earnestly asked, "Do you...need blood?"

"No, I am not a vampire in this life time though perhaps in the last I was. I lack the memories to know for certain. But I do know I lived in the past, over a thousand years ago, on another world. Souls are not bound to one planet...after all I was born here." She wasn't looking to tell so much but perhaps to give some wonder, and hope, to the other who clearly was interested in these sorts of things.

"Keep your soul safe, not in that religous sense, and rebirth comes for us all. It just takes time to be reborn. There are many in this city who have been reborn from elsewhere." Though perhaps even more than those who were powered, since people were all reborn, some just perhaps had never been powered in their past life. That made sense enough to her. Some might have been simple civilians from other planets and were now here living normal civilian lives again.

"Give me y our phone, I'll give you my number. I keep my phone on me. If you ever run into trouble, like tonight, you can call and I'll come. It might take me some time but I will come." If she had to find someone to reach out to, someone to get there faster than she could, she would do her best. This wasn't exactly a safe thing but she had seen the person reaching for a youma, and allowing herself to be pulled into the water, so the senshi did figure the other was safe. She wasn't powered or she would have powered up and handled the youma and known what it was.

This was still a risk though...but to keep a civilian safe. This was ok, she was sure of it.

The talk of Nephthys's past life took the edge off the bit of disappointment that Sindri didn't get to offer up her neck and the blood within to this truly amazing and mystical woman. "I've never tried looking into people's past lives, you know. It's always felt so much more distant than the future. But here they've been, all this time, all around me."

With a dreamy little sigh, the fear from moments before lightened, not enough to kill the caution it had instilled, but enough to allow her to relax past that unwelcome realization.

Handing over her phone, Sindri added, "And if you need help predicting what's to come, I'll strive to assist you as well."
