Quote:
Radioactive Mysteries (13) : Destiny City has been booming, but with more people you need more power. Recently, an old power plant has been renovated and updated and just opened for business–but now people have been claiming dizziness or fatigue when in the area. Not to mention the animals. So far one shady, blurry video has been posted online of a strange bear-shaped humanoid ‘monster’ in the area. It’s difficult to tell if it’s a hoax or not, but whether or not you believe it, it might be a good idea to keep your eye out if you’re in the area. Especially because if you pass through, you feel like something’s watching you. It doesn’t have an aura so it can’t be a youma, but if you poke around too late at night you might find a strange creature that's built like a bear, covered in fur, but which has a strangely human presence. Something about it is just off--or, maybe it’s just your imagination. Maybe it’s just someone in a costume having a bit of fun at your expense. Still, its claws are sharp and it’s fast. When it runs through the forests, the trees seem to crack upon impact, and if you explore during the daytime you might find strange scratches and odd markings in the grass. The longer you’re in the area, the dizzier you get.

Whether intentionally, by coincidence, or simply because a certain bird app was burning down again necessitating a need to go out and touch grass… Morishita and Tsukuyomi found themselves at the same place at the same time.

For Morishita, the idea of her going out and ‘touching grass’, so to speak, was rare; normally, she’d opt for taking a nap if nothing else of interest was going on. However, seeing as it was summer time, her room was much too muggy and hot for napping in without running the fan… and quite unfortunately for the teen, Rune had scheduled a livestream for today’s date. Even more unfortunate was the fact that Rune used Lani’s computer for this, which was located in her room, which meant that Lani had been banished from the house, in an ironic turn of events, because she would be unable to run the fan without the fluffy Mauvian complaining about the noise.

There was irony, maybe, in how the tables had turned- normally, it was Lani who was banishing Rune from the house- but Morishita was disinterested in hearing any jokes about it.

Tsukuyomi, too, had been hit with the ‘rate limit exceeded’, necessitating a need for something else to do, being denied her favorite pastime of ‘shitposting on the internet (and spreading misinformation)’. As her alternative, she had been out gathering energy, because recent rumors involving the area around the new power plant were something she could use to her advantage.

It wasn’t their first encounter- Morishita ran into the Dark Mirror senshi a handful of times, and, despite being unaware that it was her cousin Safiya, had developed an immediate dislike towards her. Maybe it was just because despite the glamour in place, Tsuyu reminded her too much of some of her cousins? Or maybe it was just Morishita being judgmental in general, because she thought Tsukuyomi's outfit was a major fashion disaster, or something like that. It was hard to tell how her mind worked, sometimes.

Truth be told, Morishita could be a bit of a bully when left unchecked...

"Y'know, I heard those rumors of a bear running around these parts, but all I see is you," the teen quipped, clearly implying something or another, but it was hard to tell what, exactly. "So it's you that's scaring off all the locals then? Bet you're the one causing all the reports of fatigue, too. Doing some draining around here, huh?"

"Bestie, what, and I mean what are you even talking about," Tsuyu replied, trying to maintain her cool, though it was clear that Morishita's words had already started to bother her. The fact that Morishita clearly managed to guess at what she was doing in the area wasn't really the issue here- it was easy enough to hazard a guess that perhaps someone Chaos-aligned was to blame here- but the f was that first half supposed to mean?

Perhaps, if they weren't so busy bickering, they might have realized they weren't alone...

Fringilla typically didn’t run into much trouble as a Senshi in the past few years. Was it because she mostly kept to her largely safe neighborhood? Was it because she was an overly cautious guard whose radius was negligible at best? And, was it because she knew that if she dared and dared alone, she would have probably been eaten alive, or something? Moreover, in senshi form, she could not allow her hands to fold paper to cope with the situation.

With that being said, upon realizing the kind of area she was in… which had the occasional mysterious and honestly alarming signs of violent activity from a massive animal, she promptly transformed into Fringilla and hoped for the best. More than ever, she was hoping for the best, because she uh, well, found herself lost. Not wanting to give potential foes away her position, she could not readily rely on external devices to guide her back to safety. It would be irresponsible to bring home trouble without knowing. In her mind, she concluded that she’d bring up a compass whenever she was closer to civilization. For now, she best traverses carefully.

Eventually, she noticed something amiss or awry. Two figures in the distance were ahead of her and they seem to be… antagonistic? Not friends? At least, that’s what she understood based on their body language. Upon closer examination, the two figures appeared to be scowling at each other, which is a bit funny to her, since both of them were wearing telltale outfits. One was definitely aligned with her, and the other, well… not so much.

Since she didn’t want to give away her position so quickly, at least before she had an explanation ready to deploy in her mind, Fringilla carefully crept closer to the two figures. It went well, and while she pondered on which explanation to use to explain her reason for being in this very scene, the shrubbery she was navigating through just had to be painfully noisy.

Suddenly, two pairs of eyes were on her. Fringilla froze and she couldn’t resist smiling nervously. ‘Oh no! It looks like they noticed that I’ve been around…

The sound of rustling in the bushes nearby drew the attention of both senshi, and the two of them paused in their bickering and provoking each other, heads turned in the direction of the noise. Of the two, Morishita was looking on in anticipation more than Tsukuyomi, perhaps because she had already identified the aura that was closing in on them as belonging to an ally rather than a foe. Before either the Dark Mirror or her fellow White Moon senshi could say a thing, Morishita was already pouncing on the opportunity to bring this newcomer into ganging up on Tsuyu together with her, because two was better than one for all the more bullying, yes?

"Oi, you came just in the nick of time," the teen began, beckoning Fringilla to come closer, "This Dark Mirror here's been going around posing as some kind of ugly bear monster and draining folks, and I just happened to have caught her in the act."

Morishita was lying through her teeth, of course, as always; she had no proof that Tsuyu was behind all of this, and she had not, actually, caught Tsukuyomi doing anything but minding her own business (purportedly). But the teen former chibi of kasha had a way with words, and she hoped to sway Fringilla over to taking her side before she could attempt to hear both sides of the story.

("Bestie, I did no such thing," Tsuyu said, in her defense, though it was likely pointless. Little did either of them know, of course, that they were about to be joined by the monster behind all the rumors, putting an end to this arguing once and for all.)

“Um…Really? To me, she hardly resembles that sort of uh… peculiar creature…Morishia. Wait. What brings you here?” Fringilla uttered softly in confusion, feeling drawn back by the appearance of two certain characters before her. Incredulity was what she quickly came down with, but she found that quickly banishing the thought away wouldn’t be wise, either.

While it was no secret that Dark Mirror Tsukuyomi was hardly aligned with their cause, but it was clear as day that her figure and silhouette wouldn’t even easily pass as a strange ugly (?) bear creature. Wait, what?

“W-wait a minute. Let’s go back a few steps. So… here, right now… is there a bear creature? Are you certain?” Fringilla asked as she stared at Morishita expectantly. It was an expectation that was hopefully it was true (not that it was any good to hear) and not simply just to pin the blame on the Dark Miror senshi. Ah, well, that’s hardly important in the end, since nearby the trio, some bushes rustled.

It was quite clear that they weren’t alone…

In Fringilla’s mind, she secretly hoped that they all three would at the very least set aside their differences, behave around each other with enough respect, and just get themselves out of the situation by any reasonable means. In other words, she was quite dreading the situation, but all she could do was prepare and brace herself for the encounter. She took on a defensive stance and scanned the heavily forested area around them.

"I mean, that was the rumor, but y'know. Rumors and the internet and all that," Morishita responded with a dismissive wave, seemingly referring to the nature of how rumors could be warped and distorted in this golden age of the world wide interwebs. She was, of course, making all of this up, just for an excuse to pick on Tsukuyomi some more, but Fringilla seemed like the kind of person to believe in her words, so...

A rustling nearby caught her attention, as she wasn't expecting anymore unexpected 'guests'. When the supposed monster of the rumors popped out of the foliage in front of them, Morishita was briefly perturbed, but otherwise seemingly unbothered.

"Oh, huh. Well, I guess there's a ring of truth to those rumors after all," the teen said with a shrug. "Whoda thunk?"

Tsukuyomi meanwhile, was unamused at this needless ribbing on by the other senshi. What was this chick's deal, anyway? Ever since they two had first crossed paths, there had been instant animosity, which while expected for two senshi on opposing sides, had gone beyond being on rival factions to a personal vendetta somehow... and Tsuyu still had no idea what she did to deserve it.

As it turned out, the rumors of there being an actual monster proved to be true, as it appeared before the small group. If it had been anyone else, the Dark Mirror would have felt she had been set up for a trap, almost, but this was Morishita, who was far too lazy for things like that, as Tsuyu had observed. With a weary sigh, the DMS crossed her arms over her chest, staring down their new 'guest' to keep an eye on it for when it made its next move.

"Well, there's your 'proof' that I have nothing to do with this, bestie," Tsukuyomi said to Fringilla. She contemplated making her exit and leaving the two to whatever fate would befall them (deserved for Morishita) but, well.

It looked like she was going to have to work together with the White Moon once more.

Fringilla frowned in slight disgust upon seeing the strange and profoundly unwelcome figure make its appearance known. It was as reports described it as- a bipedal bear-like monster.

“I suppose so… now that it’s more than a rumor, now what?” Fringilla sighed. She could feel her anxiety bubbling up, but rather than cope with folding paper, all she had was her fanciful uniform and her feathers at her disposal. Well, it was certainly better than nothing.

She then gathered her courage and summoned a handful of feathers into her hand. She was hardly one to be forward in combat, but she could at least put her feathers into good use.

“Well, here goes nothing. Clinging Feathers!” Fringilla uttered as she threw the initial feathers towards the monster. Upon hitting and attaching onto the target, an additional flurry of feathers then materialized and attached onto the monster further.

Suddenly, the monster appeared… comical, even clownish, almost? The monster was decidedly rather creepy, of course, but the myriad of colored feathers thrown by Fringilla made it look less ominous and more… approachable (as something warranting a beatdown) to the trio. It also had the added benefit of imbuing incoming attacks with a homing property, so that helps?

Sailor Scout Attack: Clinging Feathers
Fringilla sends a flurry of colorful finch feathers at a single target, ‘marking’ them with the feathers, and making them identifiable to allies as to who to attack, giving said allies' attacks honing properties that make them more certain to successfully hit. The feathers last for twenty-five seconds and can be used three times.

The sight of the bear-like monster covered in feathers was a comical one indeed, and Morishita would have a good laugh about it later, though she could be heard already faintly snickering, as if she was having trouble holding it back for now. She didn't particularly understand what the feathers were supposed to be doing otherwise, other than make things look silly, but points for effort?

Maybe they did something else, like had poison properties or something. Maybe. IDK, was her ultimate conclusion.

"Soooo, I guess we're gonna fight this thing, then?" Morishita said with an air of indifference, "Cool cool, whatever, Claws of the Mountain Cat or something."

Tsukuyomi was equally less than thrilled with their situation, but compared to the other teen, seemed a little more willing to get things over with so she could go back to... whatever it was she was doing before she had the misfortune of running into Morishita. In her irritation at running into the senshi of yamamayaa, she'd forgotten all about why she had come out here in the first place, though perhaps there had been a ring of truth to Morishita's words after all?

Whatever.

"The sooner we drive this monster away, the faster we can all go our separate ways," the Dark Mirror senshi said to Morishita, though perhaps she was the only one wanting to get away the most. "Jigoku-zōshi."

A spectral yamamayaa and a fiery chariot shot forth, the combined forces of the two's magic, aiming to hopefully deliver a world of pain enough to make this monster think twice about attacking them.

Fringilla stared blankly at the bickering (?) duo and nearly sighed in front of them. She stopped shortly of doing that social faux pas, of course, because not only would that be rude, she didn’t want to attract further attention. Apart from the aura emanated from the order senshi that gave her some vague relief that she could be trusted simply because they’re of the same faction… Fringilla generally wasn’t feeling sure if she could ever befriend the two at all.

With that being said, their cooperation was most welcome as they correctly read Fringilla’s sticky feather cue for a joint attack.

Eventually, the duo’s wave of attacks (with surprising synergy!) made contact with the creature. At first, the creature seemed stunned, but then it appeared visibly bothered and left as quickly as it came.

Fringilla breathed a sigh of relief.

“Well… it looks like that creature’s gone. Well done, you two. I suppose we could take our leave now?” Fringilla suggested. “I have, uh, an appointment to go to…”

She wasn’t sure why she felt compelled to ask for permission, but she reasoned that should be enough to get the two, who may or may not continue to chatter amongst themselves, to allow the three to make their merry way. Fringilla was looking forward to return to the safety of civilization and transform back to her normal self.

“Uh, sure? Dunno why you’re asking me, ‘cause it’s not like you need to ask for my permission or anything,” Morishita said with a shrug, “Miss ‘monster’’ and I can handle ourselves just fine, isn’t that right- oh?”

Morishita glanced to the side where the (in her mind) ’Shibuya Reaper reject’, aka, Dark Mirror Sailor Tsukuyomi, had previously been, only to find that the DMS had already absconded into the night, while the two weren’t looking. “Well, that’s not very ‘cash money’ of her,” the teen declared, but did she really care all that much? It didn’t seem like Morishita was particularly bothered, aside from disappointed that she would have to wait to resume her ritual bullying.

“Well, whatever, looks like she already left, so I guess I’ll be heading out too,” the senshi of yamamayaa said with another shrug, something she seemed to be fond of, “Ciao or what have you, catch you on the flip side~”

And then Morishita was heading off into that (perhaps not-so) great night as well.
