Gummy Plight (16) : During the Star Festival, seasonal pop-up shops are everywhere. StarSweets is a new candy shop that touts a variety of ‘healthy’ sweets in addition to old classics and new favorites. Their reviews are great, and for good reason! Except, when you go, something’s wrong with your order. As you chew, it suddenly gets gummy, and then it gets tacky, and then you can’t chew at all. It’s so sticky that you can’t open your mouth. The only consolation is that the flavor stays fresh and delicious the entire time. Maybe it takes a few minutes, or a few hours; you can try whatever remedy you want, but if you wait it out it will eventually soften and you can free yourself. Overall it’s harmless, just massively inconvenient, and maybe a bit embarrassing.
Or maybe that was because he was spending time off of his computer and away from the internet.
“Probably helps,” he chuckled as he parked himself at a random bench in the park. Now felt as good a time as any to pull out the bag of candies he’d gotten earlier that day. He was about to pop one into his mouth when he felt a flicker of someone nearby.

University had been hard, beyond what most in this country would ever go through at university, and high school had been just as bad. Growing up had not been easy for Seung but adult life and raising children was a whole different level of hard. It was made worse by being a knight and married to a knight, it made for a lot of trips to wonders, fighting and various other things. But he'd been taking it easy, he needed to, so he could work and help the twins grow and get through school.
He still went to his wonder, he had to just like his husband, and tonight had been one such night. He'd ventured off to his wonder and was now arriving back in Destiny city. His wonder was still dirty and dusty but it was better than it used to be, it had been getting better over time, though he knew it would never be what it once had been. There was only so much he could bring tehre and do, as far as repairs went, and he knew it and accepted it. He really had no choice.
Arriving in Destiny city he felt an aura...a small one, a knight, and decided to venture off towards it. Pulling out his cell phone, he kept it in subspace when powered up, and sent a message off to his husband to let him know before the phone vanished once more. He knew his aura stood out, how could it not, he wasn't just a knight but he'd transcended and couldn't be corrupted by force at this point. He was safe from that horror.

In the blackness of night it was hard to miss a glowing someone as they approached. He’d learned only recently that all knights had some kind of symbol on them or something that was a tell as to what kind of knight they were. As soon as the other was close enough he looked for said symbols–he researched the various planet symbols–and found that there was nothing on this knight that he recognized.
On top of that, the closer they got the more the page felt suddenly dwarfed by the energy coming off of them. Still, in his much calmer state he waved, candy still in his hand.
“I don’t see any familiar symbols on you. Are you a knight or a powered-adjacent?”
His manners, unlike his mood, weren’t all that improved.

"A knight, I am a knight of Ganymede." This one was new, very new or just didn't get out often, Venice decided as he looked the other over. "You'll find that while there are knights for each planet in this solar system that any senshi who becomes Royal, Ida, Ganymede, Castor and others - nearly all of them gain knights." He'd heard of one who had no such knights..a.a Royal senshi who was missing. It had been a whisper he'd heard long ago, when he'd been fairly new to things, it was in passing and he couldn't even remember where he'd heard it.
"You can tell from this symbol that I'm a knight of Ganymede." Pointing out the markings which hung at his waist and decorated sections of fabric on his clothing. It even was settled at his throat.
"And you are a knight of Cosmos, I believe. Though if so your colors are different from the others I've seen." The others wore a lot of white and pastel rainbows colors. But the asian style of clothing he'd seen worn by those knights in the past.

Kiringul blinked and gave a single nod of his head to acknowledge each new thing he learned from this knight. Senshi, royals, and what he assumed were the names of these senshi royals. “Sounds simple enough. So somewhere down the line there could be a knight of some other senshi that gets…promoted?”
Was that the right word?
He fiddled with the candy in his hand as the glowing knight went on to explain what kind of knight he was. That, too, the Cosmos page committed to memory. Zappy heart. Sure.
“Got it. And yeah, that’s right. I dunno what to tell you about the uniform colors. I’m not the biggest fan of pink…peach…whatever this is, but at least it’s comfy.”
With that he patted the seat beside him. “Pull up a chair,” he said, then set the bag of candy beside him so it would be between them should the other knight actually take a seat. “Have candy. I got these earlier today, I was just settling down to have some. You seem to know a lot, if you don’t mind a few more questions?"

"Yes, if a senshi reaches Royal it seems that they regain the knights they had in the past. Knights can also become Royal as well." Though what they gained he didn't exactly know. He had never asked or sought out that information. It wasn't something he needed to know, considering there was only one Royal knight. "Each senshi seems to have not just a symbol but a theme to the uniforms and color pallet as well." Which was how he'd guessed Cosmos for the other knight.
"The other Cosmos knights still seem to wear an Asian uniform, of some sort, with a lot of white and rinabows. You got lucky if you ask me." As he wasn't a fan of the rainbow coloring the others wore. The styles were nice, reminded him a bit of home in some ways, but the colors needed work.
Taking a seat next to the other he leaned back a bit. "Of course not and I know a fair amount. I've been less active as of late but I know enough, others will know the more recent things. Since military service I've been more focused on family and work. I do need to visit my wonder often though." Thanks to the markings he broe he had an obligation though he didn't mind, not at all really.

The page grimaced. White and rainbows.
“My uniform was originally all white with highlighter pink lace,” he said, recalling that nightmare of an outfit since they were on the topic. “I think my wonder sensed my displeasure and updated it to what it is now.” Maybe that was why he liked his wonder so much; it understood him. As much as a location could, anyway.
Who knows? It was all magical, right? It could have a mind of its own.
“So based on what you’ve told me so far, all Ganymede knights have uniforms along the same line as yours. So that’s what Voyager meant,” he popped a gummy into his mouth right then and started chewing. “That's kinda cool.”
Kiringul chewed as he listened to the other speak of his experiences of late, nodding as appropriate. He did notice that it was getting harder and harder to chew, but didn’t think too much of it. When there was mention of a wonder, he straightened up slightly in his seat.
“Oh, your wonder,” he said, brows then furrowing as he found it a bit of a struggle to talk for some reason. “What’s it...like? I tried…to visit mi…ine…recently but–”
His words cut off there, as he found he could no longer open his mouth.

"Perhaps wonders sense us, our personalities, and our uniforms suit us as best they can." Within reason of course, because he wasn't entierly fond of this uniform. He had however, gotten used to it. He had no choice really. It was better than what it could have been, thinking back to most cosmos knights and what they got for uniforms. He also could have gotten something which left too much skin showing so he'd freeze in the winter time. He'd gotten fairly lucky, even with his arms showing as they did.
"Yes, most have the same, or similar, colors to my own. I think they are a bit old fashioned and proper as well, mine being perhaps an exception to the proper idea." Though he hadn't seen any other Ganymede knights in awhile so he couldn't be for certain on that. Maybe there were others imilar to himself by now?
"Mine?" He questioned right before he seemed to notice the problem. "I'll tell you about my wonder, but first lters try and fix the problem. Did your jaw lock up?" Thinking maybe something with the joints of the jaw, as it seemed hte other was unable to open his mouth. it would make sense, as far as Venice could figure, for something to have gone out of place.

Kiringul gave a nod, then shrugged at the second question. He made motions to move his jaw–nothing. Open his mouth–still nothing. He reached up to check and see if maybe something got swollen.
Nothing.
The page looked more angry than he was panicked or frustrated as he tried to pry his mouth open with his own hands. It didn’t budge. Then, considering for a second, gestured to the other knight. He pointed at his jaw, then made a motion that was meant to ask if he was willing to try and pull his jaw open.
Because that was totally something you could ask a new acquaintance.

Watching the other try and open their mouth was a sight to see, and it didn't look good at all. "You want me to pry your mouth open." Trailing off, unsure if he was guessing right, Venice also wasn't sure just how that would go. Being poweredu p as he was it meant he could put more force into things, be was stronger when powered up, but that could also mean he'd injure the other somehow. This could go badly.
But, it was the only really viable option at the moment. "if this doesn't work you'll have to find another way, something magical, or wait it out. It could be magic keeping your mouth closed as it is." But he did put his hands on the others face and tried to work the others mouth open. Venice wasn't going to try and put too much force behind it.

Kiringul nodded when Venice guessed what he was asking him to do, and then braced himself. Letting someone try to pry his mouth open was weird enough, but he had a feeling it could go horribly wrong if they weren’t careful.
Even if he was being gentle, the page still groaned with each attempt until finally he raised his hands and scooted back and away from Venice. Clearly that wasn’t working, and his face was starting to get sore. He pulled on an annoyed expression as he went through the various events of the past few weeks. His recent bizarre experiences were really starting to pile up.
There was silence for a moment, before he had a lightbulb moment. He gestured to the other knight once more, this time mimicking a pen writing on paper.

Pen and paper, the other needed pen and paper, and that had him thinking quickly about where he could get such a thing. He didn't have a pen and paper though, he was powere dup and they were far away from anywhere that he could get either item.
Thinking he wondered if he had either item in subspace, because he was a parent so he did carry odd items there at times. It meant he carried all manner of odds and ends incase he needed them, somehow, and some things got stuffed into subspace.
From subspace he aimed to pu ll out either item, if they were indeed there, because he was always on the run it seemed and so he might have them there. He did manage a pen, though it was missing it's cap, and a slip of paper. The pen got ink on his finger, no surprise there, but he was able to offer the items to the other.

Kiringul watched and waited and, when Venice suddenly was able to produce a pen and paper, he gave the man a rare and very grateful smile as he took them from him. Quickly he scribbled a few lines on the page.
Thanks for trying to help me. Have some of this candy, on me, as thanks. I’ll just wait it out. Where in the hell did you get this pen and paper from? Also, you were telling me about your wonder?
When he was finished he held it up for Venice to read.

Taking the note back, to read it over, she couldn't help but smile and shook his head slowly. "I'm good o nthe candy, I have that enough at home from the children." His two sons had a bit of a sweet tooth, though he did try and keep it to the minimum with them. He wasn't going to let that be a big part in what they consumed, he tried to keep them both eating healthy, he did allow some sweets.
"I keep it in subspace, you can put things there. Think of it like a little seperate dimension where you can store things, not a lot mind you, buit it's usful for putting some things you might need. It's where your weapon comes from as well." There was a lot for this knight to learn, though they seemed around his own age. They were new and he'd help them as much as he could.
"My wonder is a theater, think like an opera house or similar. Very big and ornate." And it fit with the planet Ganymede and everything which had once been there. Of that he was certain, he had enough past life memories to tell him that.
"I'm not a reborn knight but rather I descended from the past Venice. Turns out he was, like otehrs, born on Earth and sent to Ganymede as a knight. Some knights were not born on the planet in which they served but rather they lived elsewhere, like here on Earth, where they were trained and than sent elsewhere." Such as his own ancestor, and every other Venice knight as far as he knew from what his ancestor had told him.

Kiringul made mental notes of everything Venice shared with him that evening. Subspace storage, where his weapon hung out while he wasn’t using it (or holding it, since he didn’t really know of any uses for a paper cone), Venice the wonder, and now quite a bit of detail around ‘reborn’ versus ‘descended’ knighthood. He listened intently while absently massaging his jaw. Whatever was keeping his mouth shut still hadn’t let up even after Venice’s answers.
He wrote a few more questions down.
Have you ever tried physically going into this subspace? Just curious. Also your wonder sounds cool. The two wonders I’ve seen so far have all been rundown and overgrown. Is yours the same?
How did you figure out that you were a descended knight?
