Gummy Plight (16) : During the Star Festival, seasonal pop-up shops are everywhere. StarSweets is a new candy shop that touts a variety of ‘healthy’ sweets in addition to old classics and new favorites. Their reviews are great, and for good reason! Except, when you go, something’s wrong with your order. As you chew, it suddenly gets gummy, and then it gets tacky, and then you can’t chew at all. It’s so sticky that you can’t open your mouth. The only consolation is that the flavor stays fresh and delicious the entire time. Maybe it takes a few minutes, or a few hours; you can try whatever remedy you want, but if you wait it out it will eventually soften and you can free yourself. Overall it’s harmless, just massively inconvenient, and maybe a bit embarrassing.
His mouth was fused shut.
The only reason Lovely didn’t panic was some sixth sense telling him this was more of Destiny City’s bullshit, and thus likely temporary. He didn’t know why so much bullshit happened here more than anywhere else, but it did. He should’ve known not to trust a pop-up shop, no matter how good their sweets were.
He stomped up the front porch in silence, fuming. He couldn’t snap at anyone, couldn’t swear, couldn’t insult anyone, couldn’t hiss and seethe the way he wanted to, or rant about the absurdity of this stupid city. The Negaverse couldn’t possibly be to blame, otherwise Ilian would’ve warned him. Lovely supposed it could be some White Moon ploy, but most of them were too simple-minded to come up with anything like this, even as a joke. Which left him with “unexplained bullshit” as the only explanation.
Lovely hated this ******** city.
Once he was inside, Lovely tossed the rest of the sweets in the garbage. Then he stalked through the house looking for Ilian, so he could complain with the outraged expression on his face even if he couldn’t use his words.

Since he didn’t have to work a normal job any more, Ilian took advantage of whatever free time he had. He was in Negaspace for most of the evening and day, but sometimes he just liked to lounge around the house.
And it was hot.
He didn’t understand why Lovely insisted on keeping the temperature turned up when they could just lower it and be comfortable all day. But no, he liked it hot during the day, and freezing at night. Which wasn’t so bad, because Lovely tended to use that as an opportunity to cuddle up against him.
For now, Ilian didn’t bother with a shirt. Just some lightweight gym shorts as he stretched out on the couch with his eyes closed as he listened to some music.
He used the controls on his phone to turn the volume down a bit when he heard the door shut, and immediately braced himself for whatever Lovely was raging about this time.
“Uh… you okay?” he frowned with concern, not sure why Lovely didn’t immediately launch into a rant.

Lovely would have loved to launch into a rant, but the thing he wanted to rant about prevented him from ranting! What possessed him to go to that stupid shop in the first place? He should’ve known! Only last week they’d talked about skipping town the next time a holiday rolled around specifically to avoid this type of nonsense!
He stomped his feet, because that was all he could do. He threw his hands around, too, flinging them into random motions to demonstrate his frustration. He tried to talk, but the “I can’t open my mouth” came out as an unintelligible “Mmm Mm MmMm Mm Mmmmm.”
Lovely huffed and scowled. He pointed to his mouth and made a few more noises to try and explain the trouble, before rolling his eyes and resigning himself to communicating by text.

Ilian didn’t laugh! Not immediately. He pressed his lips together, but it just made him think about how much he looked like Lovely with his lips stuck together. And the rage in his eyes.
All over getting some desserts?
It started as just a quiet snicker. And then a giggle, before he broke out into full laughter.
He didn’t jump up from the couch, nor did he try to escape Lovely’s reach. He could handle a few frustrated hits from Lovely, and he probably deserved it.
Besides, if Lovely got close enough, he would just grab his hips and pull him onto the couch with him.
“You’d be great at charades, I think,” he snickered with amusement.

Lovely shoved at Ilian, then smacked his shoulder, then shoved at him again. Naturally, this resulted in Lovely being pulled onto the couch with him, which Lovely normally wouldn’t mind, but right now he was determined to be angry.
This city was garbage. If they weren’t supposedly saving the Earth, Lovely wouldn’t have anything against destroying it.
“Hhn nn dnnn,” Lovely said. Even with his mouth fused shut, he thought the crude retort should be clear.
With his slim build, Lovely wasn’t much for wrestling. He had more strength in his legs than his arms, but Ilian couldn’t exactly maneuver very well on the couch. Lovely managed to force him down and sat on him. Though his glare remained threatening and his hands were prepared to push and shove if Ilian kept laughing, Lovely had no real intention of hurting him.
Ilian was cute when he laughed. Happiness and relaxation looked good on him. The changes physical activity made to his body weren’t bad either.

Ilian couldn’t help but cackle and laugh, even as he was being shoved and smacked at. Even if there was intention to harm him in Lovely’s actions, Ilian didn’t seem bothered by it. If anything, it made him more amused.
“Aw, I love you, too,” he grinned mischievously up at Lovely, because why wouldn’t he want to tease him while he couldn’t speak? Surely whatever was preventing him from being able to open his mouth would wear off eventually.
Even with being shoved back onto the couch and sat on, Ilian seemed perfectly content and had his hands on Lovely’s thighs to keep him from easily climbing back off of him.
“This is nice. Don’t you think? Wait, don’t answer,” he continued to teased, all the while kneading his fingers into Lovely’s thighs. His fingers found the hem of Lovely’s shorts and teasingly snuck them farther up his thighs while he had the opportunity.
“Have I told you lately how beautiful you look? I don’t think I get the chance with you talking all the time.”

Lovely smacked at Ilian’s shoulder again. Then, when that clearly wasn’t getting his point across, he twisted one of Ilian’s nipples just hard enough to serve as a warning, but not hard enough to cause him any real pain.
Actually causing pain wasn’t of any particular interest to Lovely, unless his victim was one of their enemies, a traitor, or some dumb ******** in the Negaverse deserving punishment.
“Mm hnn ynn,” he scowled.
Unable to adequately express his frustration, Lovely did the only thing left to do in this situation: He gave up.
With a huff through his nose and a roll of his eyes, Lovely draped himself over Ilian and made himself comfortable with his head on Ilian’s shoulder. He squirmed against the hands working their way up his shorts, but didn’t shove them away, merely huffed another breath against the side of Ilian’s neck to further indicate that he didn’t appreciate being teased.

Oh, he was pretty sure he understood what Lovely was trying to say now. And although he squirmed away from Lovely’s rude hands, he still laughed with clear amusement.
And with Lovely draping himself over him, Ilian removed his hands from the bottom of Lovely’s shorts so he could wrap his arms behind him and locate the waistband instead to tuck his hands under.
Affectionately, Ilian pressed a kiss against Lovely’s temple, and wherever else he could reach.
“I’m kinda glad you ended up like this. Otherwise you probably wouldn’t have come home so soon. Sorry your day was ruined. Maybe I can help make it better?” he hummed. There was amusement with the offer, but he gave one more teasing squeeze with his hands on Lovely’s backside.

“Mmmph,” Lovely said, without any sign that it actually meant anything. At most, he was resigned to it. Either this frustrating inconvenience would resolve itself in time, or he was well and truly ******** of which…
Lovely lifted his head enough to give Ilian a look, even if he was considering the suggestion. He had come home early, and he didn’t need to be able to speak to take advantage of that. Sometimes that was part of the excitement. That it came to him by way of a dessert rather than a gag didn’t have to make much of a difference.
Well then. Lovely couldn’t think of any reason why they shouldn’t. The hands down his shorts certainly weren’t easy to ignore.
He surged up and claimed a kiss, irritated that he couldn’t battle Ilian’s tongue like this.
Being deprived of it was almost worse than not being able to vent out loud.
