Shock Mark (15) : Thunderstorms are common this time of year, but what’s not common is the number of people reported being struck by lightning. Strangely, people are surviving with only minor, if any, injuries at all. Being struck can feel like a static shock, or can feel like a sudden flash of heat, and targets are left with a strange lightning mark across their body. Though the marks will fade, for their duration–up to a full week after being struck, you might notice that you are more prone to static shocking yourself or others, and you may notice electronics charging or overcharging and malfunctioning. The marks can take longer to fade at player discretion, or players may choose for them to leave pale scars, but otherwise there are no lasting effects.

The day's not over yet. It's not over. There's still; a chance to turn this whole thing around.

The nights are bright and burning with fated energies this week. This evening I was chosen by the sky to taste its ozone upon my tongue. To feel its spark at my fingertips. It's a heady thing, a dangerous thing. A thing to aspire to in all our tomorrows. Embody the shining cut across the sky. Be the power striking down on high. Light up the lives of those who scramble beneath with your ominous glory.

Today's lucky numbers are 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3

If you see a particularly beautiful peach, avoid it and the one who bears it. The pit of poison of poison lies beneath the sweetest flesh.

Embrace the red in your life. Let it consume you piece by piece until you're red too.

Do not touch the rock. Do not slide your hand across its smooth surface. Do not put it in your mouth, not even to tease. Not even taste. The rock will never love you the way you love it. It will never touch you the way you wish to touch it. It will never taste the way you hope.

Go west for three miles. Wait fifteen minutes. Go south until you see The Smiling Lady. Respectfully acknowledge her with a gesture, but stay silent. Walk away. Drink water once she's out of sight.

Capricorn, stay home.

Everything you've regretted for the past 8 years it just waiting for you to turn off the radio and give it space to remind you.

Coming up after the musical break we have a special guest, Miss Jupiter Kayne from the ever-enlightening local shop, Lavender Haze. But first, my dreams and dreamers, Eternal Sleep, by Tales Under the Oak.

The neon purple On Air sign flickered off, and the elfin host turned happily to Jupiter. "It was so exciting to be hit by lightning, I'd been yearning for the experience for years now." Next to Jupiter, the members of the Haunted Doll Corner watched her with glassy-eyed interest.

The recording studio was the basement of Madame Sindri's own shop and home, and matched the rest of the building with it's huge amount of occult odds and ends from around the world, opulent piles of cushions and draping scarves, and a general aesthetic that never left a tassel remain hidden and unloved.

It was exciting, really, to get to sit with Madam Sindri. Often, when Jupiter found herself unable to fall into the embrace of sleep, The Waking Hour kept her company, let her listen to someone else with a rather...well, from other people's perspectives, perhaps odd or unusual interpretation of the world. For Jupiter, it was simply the one she had grown up with, and so it simply made sense to her.

"Ah, I can only imagine," she said, smiling fondly. "These reports--so many people being struck and surviving! Truly, we live in wonderfully unusual times, and you are so lucky to have experienced such an...electrifying display of Destiny City's magic."

Because of course the city was magic. It had always been magic.

"I feel fortunate every time I wake up to encounter a new phenomena. The earth and sky and everything in-between are communicating so loud and clearly."

The time on the music neared its end. Hand hovering over the mic button, she repeated an earlier assurance of, "Don't worry about staying on topic, the whole world and beyond is the always the true topic."

The On Air sign lit back up.

It's never too late for a second guess, or a third, or a fourth...count your guesses like sheep.

And we're back with our special guest, local business woman and talented reader, Jupiter Kayne. Tell me, has this current Star Festival brought any new wonders into your life?"

Jupiter nodded. Really, she wasn't all that concerned--if they wandered too far, she was sure she would end up reined in. And, truly, as Madam Sindri said...the whole world was the topic.

So she met the On Air sign with a smile.

Quote:
"Oh, it has indeed! Of the material and the spiritual kind. I met a mysterious stranger, and was blessed with a lovely gift--a unique hairpiece. It shimmers in every light, and the craftsmanship--it must have been made by hand, by an incredibly talented artisan."

The listeners couldn't see, which was tragic, but for Madam Sindri's benefit, Jupiter removed the clip Almadel had given her from her hair and laid it on the table, letting its ethereal shimmer and sparkle speak for itself.

Handling the hairpiece, Sindri admired it's weight, texture, and age that seemed outside of time itself. She was a traveler of the world and loved collecting the ancient and exotic bits and pieces of mastery and livelihoods, all piled on tabled and in baskets in the marketplaces.

Quote:

"What a truly marvelous piece. I can't recognize either the design or the materials, used. There is a captivating otherness to it. I hope you offered something worthy in return, as fae gifts are never given freely."

Handing the piece back, Sindri gave Jupiter a look that was both admiring and concerned.

Jupiter nodded, very seriously. Someone like Almadel was quite special, and it had been an honor to get to meet him, and she would be very, very lucky if it happened a second time.

Though it had, in a sense--she'd met Kaifeng and Demeter, as well, strangers with strange magical powers, and found her little wisp companion. Though, all in all, those felt like stories best kept to herself--like revealing them would be different than showing off Almadel's gift, since Demeter and Kaifeng didn't seem to be visitors from an otherworldly place.

Quote:
"The gentleman that gave it to me seemed to receive my offered payment gladly. I found him because--well, you know that odd tree, that started fruiting after so many years of being dead? Our strange friend was requesting that people bring him that fruit! It seems it's more valuable than anyone might have guessed, since he was willing to take it in trade for a treasure like this."

She picked up her hairpiece and carefully set it back in place, taking a moment to appreciate it once more.

Quote:
"The city comes so very alive during the Star Festival. It really is a wonder."
