Shock Mark (15) : Thunderstorms are common this time of year, but what’s not common is the number of people reported being struck by lightning. Strangely, people are surviving with only minor, if any, injuries at all. Being struck can feel like a static shock, or can feel like a sudden flash of heat, and targets are left with a strange lightning mark across their body. Though the marks will fade, for their duration–up to a full week after being struck, you might notice that you are more prone to static shocking yourself or others, and you may notice electronics charging or overcharging and malfunctioning. The marks can take longer to fade at player discretion, or players may choose for them to leave pale scars, but otherwise there are no lasting effects.
Things he’d fried (so far) today: his cell phone, his laptop, the TV remote, and himself while adjusting the water in the shower. That was fun.
So why Kiringul was out and about after such a horrible day, he didn’t really know. He’d mostly done it to visit his wonder, but after multiple failed attempts he resigned himself to just wandering around to try and feel out what it meant to be a knight here in Destiny City. Even if they were roommates, he hadn’t gotten around to really asking Ein what it all meant, what it was all for.
He liked the idea of figuring a bit of that part on his own, though.
But even that had been shoved off to the sidelines for a bit, as the Cosmos page found something more pressing to address. His back had been itching like crazy since getting struck, so there he now was, rubbing his back up against an innocent tree. If it looked at all inappropriate, it wasn't on purpose. He just got a little desperate, and desperate times...

After his last... well retreat from that Corrupt, Voyager wasn't sure why he was out again after having what amounted to be zero combat training. Work had gotten busy and while it had been a while since he had powered up. He was just risking getting into a fight that he couldn't win again. But something compelled him. Something always did. And this time he appeared to run into a Page, someone he hadn't met before he was sure, and as he speed-walked to the area where the aura was coming from, he could see the Page... scratching his back like a bear? "Hello! Do you need any help?" He said with a friendly wave and a smile as he called out to the Page.

The greeting surprised him, though not enough to make him stop scratching.
It was friendly enough, as was the offer to assist him, and Kiringul gave the other a curious look as he considered. The energy signature, the outfit, the friendliness. Clearly they had similarities but the Page still wasn’t too sure what to make of it.
“Hi. Uh, if you’re into scratching the backs of strangers? Think I’ll pass, but thanks.”
The distraction of the conversation made the itch subside a bit, so he quit rubbing up against the tree. “You look like me, but you’re also really different from me at the same time. Are you also a knight? Or…?”

Voyager would have been willing to help the Page out and be his back-scratcher, but he could understand the hesitation in allowing a stranger, even one who was supposed to be on your side, doing so. He nodded, grinning at the other as he finally got within talking distance. "Voyager! Squire of Pluto! I'm a Knight as well but just a level above you. Knights have their own themes, but you can see the Pluto symbol on me." Quite a few places really. If an Agent wanted to guess just what type of Knight he was, it would be quite easy to do so. "Looking at you... well, I'm not sure! I would like to say that I've met a lot of Knights but... I don't quite have down all of the themes and symbols yet." He said with a shrug. "Are you new?"

The page looked the other over, noting all the Pluto symbols as indicated with a nod. “Pluto, got it.” Admittedly this guy looked pretty cool, not that he would ever say that out loud. With all the time he spent with his roommate, he could appreciate a good costume when he saw one now.
Not to mention, he’d rather be wearing that than his own.
“Cosmos,” he answered the unasked question. “Kiringul. I think these are the tell on my uniform.” Kiringul gestured to the stars on his outfit, since they were the only symbol he actually had on him. “And yeah, new enough. Only been to my wonder once, recently, and you're...only the second knight I've ever met?”
He extended a hand, unaware that his body was prepping for another static shock.

Voyager smiled and put his hand in for a shake with the Page's. And suddenly felt a bolt of electricity go through him! "Aah!" He couldn't help but say that loudly as he pulled his hand away. He looked at his hand for a moment that he used for the shake and seeing no burn marks, though it was a little red, he started to shake it. "You uh, you don't have electricity magic do you?" He was pretty sure that the Page didn't have magic yet, he at least hadn't. But maybe there were just special ones out there? Voyager let out a breath as his hand started to feel better, though he might still ice it later. "That is very new! And I'm glad I could be one of those Knights then!" He knew how hard it was to get in touch with other Knights, so he wanted to do all he could to help others feel a bit less alone. "You get your ring at your Wonder? If so we can swap contacts and can message each other if need be. Sometimes it can be hard finding backup or just another Knight to talk to and patrol with, so I like to give out my information to anyone who wants it. Order side that is."

Kiringul winced when the other knight cried out in shock (no pun intended).
“Sorry, no. I can’t do a lick of magic, but after getting hit by lightning I have been shocking things all day.” He proceeded to list the item, his expression becoming more and more grim as he did. Kiringul rubbed his hands together, the shock causing them to tingle a bit as well. He was getting used to it…
That probably wasn’t a good thing.
“Maybe it was magic. Who knows.”
He shrugged, continuing to rub his hands as the other spoke about some kind of ring. The page squinted in thought, but ultimately shook his head. “No. First and last time I was there I got to a pitch-black space and I couldn’t keep going. Gotta bring some flashlights and probably climbing gear next time.”
You know, after he learned how to rock climb.
“I was starting to wonder about that, actually. I have exactly one constant knight contact, and that’s ‘cause she’s my roommate. Everyone else I’ve just been kinda running into. What’s this ring you’re talking about?”

"Just the strange stuff that's going on around here huh? I suppose that's a good and bad thing." He said, laughing a little. "Luckily you don't appear to have been hurt by it! At least too badly! For some reason there are several times in the year where more magical stuff happens that we haven't really been able to explain yet. This time is one of them, then it's October, and finally December. I haven't been a Knight long myself, but it's been like that the past 3 years that I've been one." He said with a nod. "The rest of the year is oddly quiet. It's nice to get a break, but sometimes I wonder if something else is waiting out there, good or bad."He quickly got an embarrassed look on his face. "Sorry! I sometimes ramble a bit! Sort of a habit of mine from my job." He sighed and then collected himself again. "All right, the ring, yes. It can be found on every Knight's Wonder, somewhere. Mine was pretty much shown to me, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's hidden on some Wonders. But if you get one, you can send messages out to other Knights if you need any help or just want to, and if you upgrade it it can do even more! I've only upgraded it so it can get Senshi messages as well, but I've been told that there's more."

Kiringul didn't mind rambling so long as there was useful information embedded into it, so when Voyage apologized he waved his hand to dismiss it. “You’re fine, it’s good stuff to remember.” Assuming he remembered. He had to at least try and remember to jot it down into a notebook for proper logging on one of his gadgets later, when he wasn’t shocking them all into oblivion.
And he listened even more intently as he went to explain about the ring. It…didn’t sound promising, in the sense that his wonder wasn’t exactly small nor friendly to beginning explorers.
“Sounds useful. I’ll have to keep my eyes peeled,” he said, though his expression was one of hopelessness. “Maybe visit my mom’s temple, offer a few prayers. If they exist, maybe they’ll be kind, or I’ll get lucky.”
Setting aside his own mood about it for a moment, he looked to Voyager again. “Can I see yours? So I at least have some kind of idea what to look for.”

Voyager was pretty sure he saw a look flash over the Page's face, but couldn't exactly tell what it was. Disappointment? His ring had been fairly easy to find. "There might be clues to it on your Wonder. And I would bet that you could bring someone along that may help you to find it!" He didn't offer himself just yet like he usually did. He wasn't sure if the Page would be that receptive to him visiting his Wonder. "I've had a few other Knights and Senshi over to my Wonder already." At least it would give the other the idea that they could bring help. Voyager held out his left hand to the Page, the ring on his index finger. "It should look something like this, but of course our rings will probably be a bit different." His had a thicker band that went all the way to the edges of the etched-in Pluto symbol. "Yours will probably have your Cosmos symbol, but I haven't seen every ring out there so I can't be sure." For some reason signet rings were not something that he often went looking for when it came to meeting with a Knight. He usually just forgot about it, most likely because his was so easy.

The page gave a little nod. No sense in being too pessimistic about it, yet. He hadn’t even gotten a fair shot at it, yet. “Yeah, I’ll definitely try to look for it when I make it back to my wonder next. Whenever that’ll be.”
He’d come to the eventual conclusion (just recently, actually) that it was probably on some kind of timer. Then again it was magical, maybe it didn’t like him and didn’t want him to come back…
Could it do that?
Who knew, it was magic.
Hopefully not, though. The seeming lack of rules was a bit frustrating, but he opted not to mention what was going through his mind in favor of looking at the ring that Voyager presented.
“So, similar but not,” he said out loud. He glanced down at his uniform, at the stars on his uniform, and wondered what in the hell his ring could possibly look like. “Well. At least this way I know to stop and look at anything that looks out of place among the rocks and in the mountain.”
“So, what did you do for communication with other knights before you found yours, then?” he thought to ask after one last look.

Voyager couldn't help but laugh a bit nervously at the Page's question, wishing he had a better answer. "Truthfully? I've had my ring most of the time. But usually it's either running into them or exchanging civilian info. It doesn't have to be a ton of information, it could be an email or something, and luckily Agents can't disguise their aura so we would know if we were communicating with another Knight or not." At least he didn't think they could do that. They were screwed if they ever figured out how and Order didn't. "Unfortunately there still isn't a lot of information out there that I know of. I wish I did though. Instead I just try to give as much information to those asking for it that I can."Knights felt so far apart from each other, even when it came to being the same type that he wanted to help others feel more of a connection to each other and not just flailing around in the dark. "There might be clues on your Wonder that lead you to where the ring is. I don't think it would want to hide from you. I feel like each one is calling out to us in it's own way, we just have to figure it out." He said this with a confident nod. "I can give you a civilian email that I use that you can contact me with. And if I find any other Knights willing to give their information I can send that to you as well! Also if you ever want to visit my Wonder. I'm always accepting visitors!" Now that they had been talking for a bit, it was okay to invite yet another person for a Wonder tour right?!

The idea of manually giving out an email address to people he ran into wasn’t all that appealing, but he imagined it was better than relying completely on his luck while on patrol. “You do what you can,” he said with a little nod. “For me, I’ll take whatever help I can get. I’ve got a lot of questions, and finding answers has been…slow.”
That was the nicest way he could think to put it.
It had been, so far, quite a thing to adjust to, but he wanted to try. He felt like he had to try, at least for a little while. Get a feel for things, see how he felt. If he’d run into other knights like Voyager sooner, he wondered if he’d have already made a decision by now. It’d been years since he technically became a knight, and yet…
“Appreciate the offer, and the invite. I’ll take you up on that email for now, maybe another time for the wonder? I’d invite you to mine but I don’t know what to expect yet. Once I figure it out a little more, I’ll let you know.”
He seemed nice enough, and was certainly very helpful, so why not?

Voyager grinned! "Excellent! Here's the email I use." He said as he quickly wrote it out on a piece of paper and a pen that he had been carrying with him. His pockets on his uniform came in handy! He then handed it to the Page. "I understand on the Wonder. I still need to fix it up as well, but I can't help but want to show it off a little. It is a bit of a museum and uh, my knight ancestor was know for... plundering." Basically stealing. He wondered if it was some sort of Pluto tax or something on the other Homeworlds considering how important Time was, but he couldn't really go and question them now could he? "It's definitely important to get to know your Wonder. Mine was a bit easier as it appears to be related to my job here on Earth, so I definitely jumped right into working on it! But I know others aren't that simple. You'll figure yours out one day, I know it." He said with a confident nod. "And I'm glad to have met you tonight Kiringul! I know it can seem lonely at times, but I'm just an email, and once you get your ring, a message away! Unfortunately, it does appear to be getting late, but I'm so glad to have been able to talk to you!"its_ p a o we can end this in one or two posts if you want!

Kiringul took the offered piece of paper, mindful not to touch the other’s hand to avoid shocking him for a second time that night,looked over the email address now written on it, then pocketed it for safekeeping until he got home. “Thanks for the email, and the vote of confidence,” he said with a little smile. Upon mention of it getting late, the page glanced around and noted the time on a nearby park clock.
“Damn, it is getting late. Alright, thanks again. I’ll reach out soon. Be safe out there, and watch out for rouge lightning bolts.”
With that he turned and headed home. Or at least in the direction of home. He wasn’t sure how willing he was to risk frying more of the tech he had there, so for now, a detour. Maybe if he walked for long enough the static build up in his body would just…disappear.
