Quote: The Wishing Tree (1): A Destiny City Star Festival Tradition to be held every year; In Town Square, there is a beautiful tree with spreading branches. It is tall, but the lowest branches are easily reached. The city has decorated the tree with small, starlike ornaments and glistening lights. Thick leaves and beautiful purple flowers dangle from the branches, along with a myriad of different colored papers with handwritten wishes. Next to the tree is a stack of blank paper with twine attached, and a handwritten sign that explains: Write your wish on a sheet of paper and tie it to the tree. Take one wish off the tree and do your best to grant it. When you have granted the wish, bury the paper in the park. The papers are biodegradable and filled with seeds. There are no rules for wishing, but you are encouraged to wish for something vague enough that it can be interpreted in many ways so that it can be granted; you do not write your name on it, but it is encouraged to write something that doesn’t wish for self gain, but rather something that can make the world a better place. Some wishes dangling from the tree already include things like “I wish there wasn’t so much litter in the park,” “I wish someone would clean the graffiti off the old historic buildings,” and “I wish there were more volunteers at the shelter.” If you choose to use the Wishing Tree, what do you wish for? If your wish is private, you may write it on the paper and choose a spot in the park and bury it yourself instead of hanging it on the tree.

The wishing tree was something of a tradition during the City's Star Festival and Mi-Hi had figured that she should try to visit the tree at least once during the Festival.
But with all the other day-to-day stuff that she had on, that had turned out to be something that was easier said than done, so at last Mi-Hi had fallen back on waiting until she had finished work one evening and then powering up when she was far enough away.
There was a mirror close to the town square so in the end she had ended up mirror-walking over to the tree–
Well okay, not exactly to the tree as the mirror wasn't by the tree itself, but rather in a small side street that was about 5 minutes walk away by amble pace, but it wasn't like the walk was any real hardship.
For the start the city was so pretty at this time of year what with the colourful decorations that been strung up on all of the official businesses (and on some of the shops)–
And whilst the town square itself was pretty quiet at this time of night, with the stalls all pretty much shut up for the night, the lights that had been strung up still gave everything something of a magical feel–
Well at least she had always thought so.
Although Sadalsuud also knew that she had the benefit of knowing that magic was very real and it wasn't just down to the way that she could walk through mirrors whilst powered up.
Sadalsuud had spent a few moments taking in the tree, the lights and the pretty star-like ornaments that decorated each branch, before pausing to admire the twinkling lights because it was clear the someone or several someones had spent a lot of time making the tree look so pretty and Sadalsuud wanted to spend a bit of time taking the whole effect in.
Eventually, however, she made her way over to the stack of blank paper and twine that had been set up by the tree and started to reach out for one of the green sheets of paper.
Something on the ground caught her eye before she could complete the action and Sadalsuud found herself automatically reaching out to pick it up before realising that she had picked up one of this year's star charms - a green one.

It was still in good condition and Sadalsuud (or rather Mi-Hi) liked collecting the charms when she had the opportunity to, so she figured that she would go ahead and hold onto this one and slipped it into her subspace.
With that done, she picked up the green sheet of paper that she had initially been reaching out for and pulled out a biro from her subspace.
What to wish for.
The usual thoughts had come to mind, like wishing for the person who took the wish to do one kind deed and ask for the deed to be paid forward as 'payment'; or to wish for the person who took the wish to smile more or to say something nice to a random person.
Eventually however, Sadalsuud settled on a wish that she (or rather Mi-Hi) had wished for in the past: Quote: I wish that someone will come and visit the display being put on by the pottery on the corner of Moonlight Avenue as the volunteers taking part have worked sooo hard on it Because whilst the wish was one that she had wished for in the past, it was as true today as it had been back then and she was well aware that the volunteers had made some really cute star-themed pieces this year in celebration of the city's one hundred and fourth birthday.
It was a wish that she really wanted to come true and so after carefully tying it up with a bit of the provided twine, Sadalsuud reached up to snag a wish in turn, as her gloved fingers closing around a piece of blue paper before gently tugging.
She opened it carefully, half expecting it to be asking for one of the usual things - like to be kind, etc - only for to find her eyes widen in bemused startlement as she saw what had been written on the paper: Quote: I wish more stray cats could find new loving homes Oh.
Oh!
Sadalsuud couldn't help but laugh softly as she read through the wish, because it was one that she definitely thought that she (or rather Mi-Hi) might be able to help with–
And she even knew where to go to find the cats.-- 770 words --
