The Dark Mirror, it seemed, had thoroughly taken care of herself--whatever was going on with her magic, she definitely looked like she wasn't going to be a problem anymore. Maybe she might even learn a lesson about being a total selfish jackass. Probably not, but whatever, she was down, and that was what really mattered.
Which meant that Casablanca had something way more important to worry about.
That Page. She was pretty sure he was brand new, he'd looked so confused by everything, especially when he'd gone to run away. And she knew that, throguh no one else's fault but the bad luck of the universe giving her another totally new Page as her buddy in Awakening, she'd ended up flailing around a lot as a Page, until she finally found her footing. She did not want to leave this new Page to that. And anyway, he was a Lysithea Knight like Stirling, who was one hundred percent Casablanca's best friend, so that meant she was probably at least a little responsible for him.
So she ran after him, jumping up onto the roof.
"Hey! Hey, wait! Are you okay?"

Dunnottar sat up, watching the girl—the one who'd fought the other one down on the ground—with suspicion. He hadn't wanted to get in the middle of their catfight in the first place, but the other girl had clearly been doing something to mess with his body. Make him feel weak. Dunnottar didn't tolerate weakness. "I'm fine," he said flatly. "What I want to know is what the ********> was that? What are you? And why the hell am I dressed like this?!"
He stood, gesturing down his body covered in pinks and blues—lacy and frilly pinks and blues.
"Why do I know some kind of stupid name like Dunnottar?" he added, getting heated. "Why does it feel important to know that name? To not reveal who I really am?"

Oh. Oh, yeah, this poor Page was brand new. He was as lost as Casablanca had been, back in the beginning. But, luckily for him, he had someone else to help!!
Even if he was the grumpiest jerk she'd met in a long time. Like, honestly. He could be a little nicer to the person who was helping him. But maybe he was just shocked and disoriented by the whole "magic" thing! That would make sense.
"Oh, there is so much to explain," she said, but she couldn't hide how excited she was. "Let's tart with the basics: congratulations, you are a magical Knight! You've awakened to your incredibly cool magical destiny, and now you get ot decide what to do with it. That woman was a Dark Mirror Senshi, a servant of Chaos, and she was draining your energy until I hit her in the face."
She sounded incredibly proud of herself, because she was.
"As a magical Knight, you've got a special identity. Think of it like a superhero gig, you know? How nobody can know that Superman is Clark Kent? So you're Dunnotar of Lysithea--and my best Knight buddy is a Lysithea Knight, too, I can introduce you!"
Ahh, this was so exciting! Casablanca actually got to mentor someone!
"Oh! I almost forgot! I'm Casablanca of Cosmos, it's super cool to meet you!"

Dunnottar frowned, thinking that over. Seriously? He was a superhero? How gross. What had he done in a past life to deserve this s**t? He had a life he had to live, damnit. Chasing "servants of Chaos" while dressed like a moron was absolutely not his idea of how he was supposed to live his life. He supposed it would be nice to be able to protect himself in case some crazy b***h tried taking his energy again, but really, he could just as well pick up a stick to beat someone with while dressed like himself instead of... summoning these ridiculous frills and a painted wooden lollipop. As he turned it over in his brain, he suddenly realized something. There was something familiar about the way this... Casablanca spoke (and wasn't that some old movie about some lady screwing her brother?). Even if the words were all new, something about the cadence... "Ah," he said, blinking. "You sound like a video game tutorial."

Casablanca gaped. There was a brief moment where she simply could not process what he was saying, because ti was so--rude? Mean? Utterly unenthused about being a magical warrior for justice? All of the ******** above???
"Hey!" She snapped. "A little gratitude! I saved your a**!" To say the absolute least! Sure, the Dark Mirror couldn't pull starseeds, and probably that Senshi wouldn't have been interested in doing real harm, but he didn't know that.
"And fine, if I'm your tutorial NPC or whatever, you'd better ******** listen, because there's people out there who can literally rip your soul out of your chest, and no amount of being a giant ******** d**k is gonna save you from that."

Aha! So there was a real person underneath all that... ick, peppiness. He hated people like that—that never stopped smiling or acting like everything was hunky-dory. It reeked of falseness, an attitude that did not adequately address the truth of the world. The truth, of course, was that the world was hard, cold, and unyielding, and nobody acted without any self-interest. Good to see someone drop the act, at least. A rare, small smile forced its way onto his face, and he nodded to her. "Alright, then. Thank you, meimei," he said, wondering if she would know he'd just called her little sister or not. "Ah—" Something she'd said definitely had him concerned, though. "Ripping out souls?" That... would surely interfere with the reincarnation process. He couldn't let that happen to himself. If his soul ever got free from their capture, whoever "they" were, he'd certainly be punished for a few thousand years.

"There we ******** go," Casablanca grumbled. She had no idea what "meimei" meant, but at least it didn't sound insulting, or whatever.
"Yep,. ripping uot souls." She tromped over to him, closed her fist, and tapped it against the center of his chest. "Right here, you've got something called a starseed. It's basically the physical embodiment of your soul. And people who serve Chaos=--they can reach right in there and rip it out. Good news is, it's not hard to spot them. they'll be the ones wearing black and carrying weapons, or with freaky holes in their chests and foreheads and stupid long hair. Also, you can sense auras now, and Chaos ones will feel....bad. Vibes as rancid as they are, honestly." She paused, briefly.
"Keeping up so far?"

Dunnottar narrowed his eyes slightly as she came up and tapped his chest, but let it go. It wasn't worth starting a silly fight over. He hummed in thought, nodding again. "Easy enough to understand," he said. "Then I feel you, right now. Warm. Bright. Quite close." He tilted his head. "I can still feel the... dark one. A bit slimy, mostly cold. Nobody else seems near."

"Good. We'll make a decent Knight of you yet," Casablanca said. "WE can walk and talk for a little, and I can give you some more of the lowdown," she offered, "or, you know, you can press X and end this tutorial mission right here. Up to you."
Whatever he chose, Casablanca hoped he was alright. And she would have to remember to tell Stirling that she had a new brother in arms who was kind of a jerk, but probably decent deep down.

"Hah!" Well, she had a sense of humor about it, too. This wasn't entirely normal for him, to laugh, but, well, neither was anything else about the situation. Alas. "I think I should learn as much as I can. I'm not sure when I'll run into someone like you again," he said, leaping down to the ground. They'd figure out where to go once on the ground. It felt more... well, grounded. Better than the roof, anyway. He definitely was going to call into work tomorrow.
