Quote: The Fireflies (6) : In the warm summer nights, little glowing lights begin to bob and dart through the city. Fireflies are mating, so this isn't uncommon in itself; in the past few days you've probably seen hundreds of fireflies. What makes these lights so unique is that they seem to change color; you might see a blue one, a green one, a red one. They flicker randomly, and something just seems off with them. If you come into contact with one, you will find yourself with a strange electric jolt. They cannot be caught, and will flicker away if you pursue too aggressively. This isn’t the first time they’ve appeared in Destiny City, but no one’s been able to tell where they came from or where they’re going. No matter how quickly you chase them, they always seem to disappear before you can find any answers. Every year Strix vowed the Star Festival would not get on their nerves and they would be totally normal about the whole thing. And even enjoy it! Ideally! And every year it turned out: nope, sorry, still couldn't stand this many people in the placed they liked. On the plus side, this year they had an excuse to take it out on other people in a constructive way.
"Constructive." In airquotes. Pax didn't even drain people half the time, but it was nice to be able to pick fights and be as mean as they wanted without worrying someone might hear about it, because there was a limitation to how much their family's philanthropist PR would protect them. It was nice to be horrid sometimes!
This senshi, for example, was distracted by the fireflies. Pax did want to investigate those closer, too, but not with her around; they'd already gotten zapped earlier and didn't want to have it happen again, not in front of somebody else, and also they kind of thought her outfit was ugly. (It was a little bit of envy. They liked green! It was their favorite color! Just because she had green hair meant she got to wear green, too, and they were stuck in black and neon pink, and it wasn't awful but it could have been a lot better, too!!) So there was what looked to be an easy way to deal with that.
Pax walked up to her, put their hand on her shoulder, said "Hey," and subvocally cast their magic. Usually that made people screw right off.chi honda Pax Reverberation! For the next 30 seconds, all noises the target hears and vibrations they experience will begin reverberating within the target, as if their body was a tuning fork; if the target is unable to hear noises, vibrations will suffice. This is painful, disorienting, and makes distinguishing outside noise difficult; it may also cause temporary loss of some proprioception. At player discretion, this attack may result in lingering deep-tissue pain and tinnitus. This attack lasts for 30 seconds and has 3 uses.

Ametkhan was trying her best to see everything the Star Festival had to offer. She was determined to make the most of the experience, as she had heard that it was something truly special. As she walked from stall to stall, she was in awe of the vibrant colors and the atmosphere of joy and celebration. She almost forgot she was out on patrol, until she reached a grass area that was glowing with tons of small glowing lights.
They distracted her, so much so she didn't notice she had company until it was too late. As she felt that hand on her shoulder, she tried to turn and kick them. However, all the noises and vibrations made her body respond like a tuning fork.
"Arghhh," she screamed. The pain and disorientation was making this attack the worst for her. She had heard that she needed to be aware of her surroundings, so why didn't she listen to the good advice? She slowly felt the attack wearing off her body, even though she felt like she was still ringing. She knew she couldn't stand down, or well she refused to let someone beat her.
"Hey yourself," she said with a smirk before kicking them as hard as she could away from her and speaking with a wince, "Crocodilian Ninja - Attack!" She knew right now she needed to get her bearings back, so she hoped while she was doing that her ninja could help her out a bit. Since she had no idea what their plan was, but she was determined to find out.
Quote: The Sailor creates an ethereal crocodile that stalks one target and seems to come out of nowhere and bite them (as if it were lurking underwater and then strikes) players can feel the sensation of teeth/biting as the crocodile attacks their being. This attack lasts for 25 seconds and can be used 3 times.

This was not her screwing right off! This was the opposite of it!! The complete opposite!! Pax made a subvocal little noise that was closest to being a swallowed scream, something they felt vibrate through their throat, and took a quick step back and to the side as the green senshi kicked - not fast enough to avoid it totally, but reasonably fast. She still tipped them, she had some good force behind it, but that was a bruise to their torso. It'd heal, and nobody would see it, so nobody could ask any dumb questions. Did this put them out of melee range? Maybe. Out of -
Not out of crocodile range, was the thing that was really pressing right about now, as an ethereal crocodile lunged out of the ground and went for their legs. Which hurt! A lot! A lot more than they were willing to let on or admit! They sucked in breath through their teeth and held back a yelp of pain, not willing to give her that satisfaction, even as they stumbled and dropped to one knee, palms flat against the ground for stability.
Apparently one of the fireflies (or whatever they were?) had decided to get down to earth and crawl along the ground; brushing it with the side of their hand was a painful enough jolt Pax almost bucked. Still. No noise. They weren't going to give her the stupid satisfaction of making them cry out.

Ametkhan had finally gotten her bearings back, just enough to watch her attack hit. "Yes," she whispered under her breath. She was so thankful not only her kick landed but also her attack had given her the time she needed to recover, and not only that but it was successful! Her crocodile ninja had done well, she was proud.
"I'd say that was one nice greeting," she said as she stood up on her feet.
Seeing the fireflies around them, she was taken aback. These fireflies seemed slightly different from the ones she was used to. Not only that but the one that crawled near her opponent seemed to do something to them. Even if they made no noise, they appeared to have almost move in maybe ... pain? But how could such a small bug like that cause pain? Weren't they just pretty light bugs?
At least to her they looked pretty, but now that she looked closer. They seemed to want to be near her more than the others she had seen. She reached her hand out to touch one, since she remembered catching them as a child. The second she did she felt a jolt shoot through her body.
"Ow. What in the world was that?" she yelled as she jumped backwards hoping to avoid any of the fireflies in sight. How could that little bug send such a shock, was this some sort of trap set up by someone? or was she going crazy. Maybe that attack from earlier had affected her more than she knew. Either way she was going to be careful of those bugs now.

The bites hurt, and they were probably going to hurt or at least stay sore for sometime, but seeing what's-her-name jolt with the shock did pull a mean little laugh out of Pax. (And that hurt too, actually, because with all the breath going out of their lungs that made their muscles clench in ways they weren't a big fan of. That was normal, though.) While she was distracted with that, they pushed themself back up to their feet and took a few steps back, wary.
She wasn't particularly susceptible to their magic. Not great. The fireflies? lightning bugs? whatever? were a rogue element and could zap either of them. Also not great. Her magic hurt, and she had more uses of it in store, and there wasn't a point in fighting her.
Was it kind of entertaining to just be mean for no reason besides they didn't like her by default? Yes. Did they actually want to waste time getting both of them lightly electrocuted by weird bugs? No.
It was not a dignified thing, when Pax turned and walked away, but they were trying to make it that way as hard as they could.

Ametkhan was a little busy avoiding the bugs. That it took her a second to notice her enemy was just walking off. Not that she blamed them, these bugs were bothersome. They really put a damper on their battle in her opinion. She briefly considered chasing after them, but decided against it. After all, she figured they would find each other eventually, and be able to battle again sometime. She sighed and shook her head, before carefully making her way out of the bug-infested area.
Once she was out of the mess of fire flies she took a deep breath, and headed home herself. This battle had taught her a lot, but she also knew she had a lot more training to do. She was determined to hone her skills and become even stronger.
She planned to do that after a rest, but first she had to get home. After that, she could plan her training for the future. Either way today was a win. Daekie Fin! Thank you for the wonderful rp! =D
