Insidious Insects (18) : In the first week of July, the area around the tree is just buzzing. The call of the cicadas is loud and droning, and it’s constant. You start to hear it all over town, too. All sorts of insects seem attracted to the strange pods, and it’s not uncommon to find nearly any species curiously investigating. If you listen closely, you notice something else strange–it’s not just the bugs that you see making the familiar call of the cicada. It seems like it’s coming from inside the pods, too. Any pod that wasn’t leaking sap suddenly begins to snap open, and giant cicadas crawl out. Their full wingspan can reach up to a foot and they’re hungry–and angry. It seems like the pods that were leaking sap were slowly rotting, but the ones that didn’t leak were being eaten from the inside out–and now that the cicadas have run out of food, they’re out for anything they can find. Though there are several notable differences between these insects and the common cicadas, their low, chirping wail makes them easy to find–as well as the fact that they spit acid. These bugs are incredibly hostile and will attack indiscriminately, powered or unpowered, human or alien, day or night. They have a protective shell that makes them easy to crush but they’re hardly the most menacing foe you’ve faced–but if they reproduce, you could be in some real trouble. Better to crush them now before they become Destiny City’s next invasive species… Note: These creatures are a violent alien species that are aggressive and eager to destroy. They will attack everyone and everything within sight. The insects can fly, spit acid, and will try to burrow into the ground to hide. They are very fast and difficult to see. This RP can be used as a battle requirement for a character, separate from your ‘one youma battle’ per stage if there are two powered characters involved; you cannot write a solo and count this as a battle, and your character must be powered and interacting with another player’s powered character for it to count. This can only be used as a battle requirement once per character, but there is no limitation for how many times a player can use this prompt.
After the near-drowning at the reservoir, tonight Staurolite decided to err on the side of caution and investigate the freakishly large pods that had randomly started to grow on one of the historic trees in Downtown DC. When he first saw the strange pods he thought nothing of them, but between that first instance and the next the pods went from the size of a walnut to the size of a soccer ball, so. It warranted some investigation.
“The cicadas are going wild, huh?” he thought aloud, approaching one soccer-sized pod and nudging it with his foot. For a second there was nothing, and then it cracked open and out popped the giant head of an alien cicada.
His stomach lurched.
“That's just wrong,” he said as he, without really thinking, kicked the nearly fully-open pod and its occupant in a random direction.
No, he didn’t see that someone was standing in that general direction.

Ametkhan was not liking this first week Ametkhan was not liking this first week of July. The weather was too hot and humid for her liking and she was overwhelmed by the amount of training she had to do this summer. He wished he could escape it all and escape somewhere cool and near a pond.
Not only was it too hot, but all the bugs sweltered. She hated bugs that seemed to be everywhere. She longed for a cool breeze to blow away the stifling heat and the bugs. She just wanted to find a place to relax and get away from it all. She didn't think the bugs could get any more annoying until she heard the loud call of the cicadas. "What on earth are they doing? Don't they know it's not polite to be so loud?" she said as she ran over to the area with one thought on her mind. To get these bugs to hush.
The only thing was that she arrived just as the giant alien cicada was exiting a fallen pod. She froze for a moment, and then she decided she was not going to allow that gross thing near her. Not only that but it looked like it was ready to attack the person standing there.
"Hey watch out," she yelled before turning her focus back to the alien cicada, "Crocodilian Ninja - Attack!" She hoped her attack would hit the alien cicada. After the attack was launched, she didn't think about how it might shake off a few more pods. in July. Attack info The Sailor creates an ethereal crocodile that stalks one target and seems to come out of nowhere and bite them (as if it were lurking underwater and then strikes) players can feel the sensation of teeth/biting as the crocodile attacks their being. This attack lasts for 25 seconds and can be used 3 times.

Thankfully the cicada was between him and the attack, so while he did flinch he was grateful that the cicada took the brunt of it. It looked...painful, to say the least. Once the croc bit down on it, it gave a disgusting screech and, after several seconds, eventually stopped moving.
Staurolite was grimacing from the sound, but he waved a thanks to the senshi in the distance all the same. Not that he made it a point to show his gratitude, but it seemed fair enough given he’d kicked it toward them. He was about to holler his thanks as well, when he heard the sound of multiple pods falling and opening up, much like the first. Gradually, the horrible call of the cicadas filled the silence.
He glimpsed one of the alien cicadas nearby as he started inching away. It looked back at him, almost without interest, before it flew right for him.
“Hey! Hey!” he called, making a run for the senshi. “Got more of that magic? There’s more of those things on my a**!” He glanced back, counted, then said in a much more frantic voice.
“Three! Three of ‘em! And they’re huge!”

Ametkhan was so glad her Croc had done such a wonderful job destroying that alien. Every time she watched her attack in action it never ceased to amaze her. Who knew she had this power inside her, and she could make a difference with it.
She was quickly shook back to reality by a voice talking about more of these creatures on their toes. She watched the alien launching at him and she raced towards him and did a flying kick at the alien's face. She didn't know what else to do since she didn't want her crocodile accidently biting the wrong target.
"Run," she said in a rushed tone, "I'll hold them off so you can get out of here!" She refused to let whatever these were hurt anyone if she could stop them. As she got up from the ground quickly recovering from the kick. She moved her hands once again right as one of the two alien's left were eyeing her, "Crocodilian Ninja I need your power now!"
Luckily for her the crocodile headed towards an alien that almost was right at her. For they had locked on to her, and now while she hoped her crocodile dealt with that one she had one alien left. The only problem was she couldn't seem to find where it was, as she looked around the area.

While not a coward, the senshi seemed far better equipped to actually handle an alien attack like this so Staurolite simply did as told–he ran. Not far, just out of immediate danger. He came to a grinding halt by a tree, which he then climbed and promptly situated himself on the lowest branch. His heart was racing as he tried to take aim for his first shot.
He watched her croc get another one of the bugs, and admittedly he was impressed though he didn’t revel in her success for too long. Out the corner of his eye he spotted the last one coming up from behind her.
“Over there!” he called, then slung his first shot. Miss. He fired off a few more, hitting his target twice but, sadly, his pellets didn’t seem to be doing much to knock the bug off its game.

As her croc dealt with that one bug, she was relieved everything seemed to be going well. Plus he had ran like she said which at first had her feel some relief.
That was until she heard him yell and noticed the final bug heading straight for him. "I'm coming," she yelled! She quickly raced towards him and since she didn't have enough time to call her crocodile. She decided this bug was going to feel the brut strength she had inside her.
As soon as she got close enough she watched his pellets hit and she couldn't help but think what a good shot they had. She shook her head and launched herself in the air. She flew towards the bug with a flying kick. Luckily her foot connected with the bug and sent it flying into the tree. Apparently it was too much for it, and the final bug was done.
She let out a sigh of relief, "I think that was the last of them. Are you alright? Oh and nice hit by the way!"

The lieutenant took a couple more shots at the bug in hopes of deterring it, but ultimately it was the senshi that brought it to its disgusting end. He couldn’t help cheering at the sight, hopping down and quickly approaching her with a hand extended for a high five.
“That was awesome! Thanks for all the saves tonight,” he said, his bright smile exuding his gratitude. “Y’know, I feel like I may have you Order folks pegged wrong. You’re not all bad. Name’s Staurolite, and yeah, I'm alright. Are you okay?”
Hopefully they didn’t take that the wrong way. It was honestly meant as a compliment.

Ametkhan saw him jumping up and down and it made her smile. It reminder her of some of her school track teammates. She let out a small chuckle as she high-fived him back!
"Of course! I'm always happy to assist!" she said with a grin before responding, "Well thank you. I try not to be too intolerable, and I'm good to thanks. It was nice working with you Staurolite. I'm Ametkhan, Senshi of Crocodiles."
She wasn't ever sure when she was supposed to introduce herself, but she figured after their ordeal it was worth it. Plus was glad they both escaped these bugs okay, and if she never saw another one of these again she would totally be okay with that.
Just the thought of seeing those bugs again made her shake, and suddenly she really wanted a shower. She felt like all these bug battles made her feel kind of gross, and she had worked up a sweat for the first time in a long time.
"You know I'm sorry to cut this short, but after those bugs. I think I need a shower. Hopefully we will see each other around sometime!" she said with a smile as she started to head off but before she did she turned around and waved to her new battle buddy. She hoped it didn't come off as rude, but she really was happy they had such a successful battle.

Ametkhan. Definitely a name, and sphere, he would remember.
When she bid a quick and rather sudden goodbye the lieutenant felt a little bummed, but he definitely understood. “No problem. That actually sounds like a plan so I think I’ll head home, too. Take care! And thanks again!”
Staurolite waved back when she turned with a final farewell for the night, and once she was out of sight he turned and headed home as well. God forbid he would run into more of those bugs tonight. He’d be a sitting duck! It was lucky that Ametkhan had actually swung by, now that he thought about it. His pellets did jack all to help, though he did appreciate her compliments on his aim.
“Senshi of Crocodiles…” he mused as he went, then gave a chuckle. “Who needs Raid when you’ve got a croc to do that kinda work for you.”
