Izel 1
He was busy swimming in the shallows when he spotted the beast. It was such a cute little thing! He’d never seen one before. However, he figured it must belong to someone in order to be in Matori. Excitedly he made his way toward the shore to get a better look at the thing. He was super curious as to what it was and whether or not it was friendly.

He’d just returned home from business and decided a nice walk along the beaches would be good for him and his familiars. His loatoa was running ahead and scouring through the sand for shells. He liked the shiny things. His janarim followed along behind him with a kind of lazy appearance. He didn’t mind it so much. Both were very well behaved so he had no worries.

Izel 2
As the creature got closer he made his way out of the water, a large smile on his face. Izel wanted to badly to pet it. It was fluffy looking. Once he was out of the waters he cooed at the beast. “Awe.. Hi there.” He crouched low and held his hand out for it as he inched his way closer. “Aren’t you cute.”

He took note of the boy coming out of the water but knew his animal was no threat to him so he didn’t call him back. What he hadn’t counted on was the boy to try and approach the loatoa. He paused in his walk, causing his janarim to stop as well, and watched with a raised brow.

He didnt’ see any violent or mean reaction from the beast so he got closer, still holding his hand out. “Come on. Its okay.” He was getting so close! It was too bad that this belonged to someone else. Otherwise he’d want to take the thing home. Maybe he could figure out what it was and ask his mother for one.

When he noticed the boy was fully intent on making contact with his familiar he cleared his throat and moved forward a bit. “Maybe don’t do that.” He cautioned. “You never know what a beast will do.” While he had faith in his own he didn’t want to give the boy false hope that all animals were like his. He looked at his loatoa, who in turn had paused to look at him. “Juniper.” He commanded the familiar back to him for safety reasons.

He stopped what he was doing when he heard the voice of someone warning him not to do that. Looking up Izel frowned. “Sorry. I just wanted to pet it.” He lowered his hand and stood upright but looked like he’d gotten caught with his hand in the cookie jar. “Its name is Juniper?” Maybe if he learned about the creature he’d be able to pet it.

“Yeah.” He looked at his familiar then at the boy. “And this big thing over here is Banshee.” He patted the janarim on the neck affectionately. The beast had gotten the name because when he was younger all he did was howl for no reason. Was more intimidating by sound than anything else. “What’s your name?”

He grinned and watched as the guy introduced the other beast as well. “I’m Izel.” He easily replied. It wasn’t like he had to worry about bad people. He was close to home after all. “Would it be alright if I pet Juniper?” He lifted his hand with a bit of curiosity. In truth he just wanted to see how fuzzy the beast was.

“Hello Izel, I’m Lynx.” Now everyone had a name. As the boy questioned whether or not he could pet the loatoa he considered it. His gaze dropped from the boy to the animal then back. “Sure. Just be gentle.” He motioned for the boy to come closer as he crouched down to pick up his familiar and hold him still. The loatoa got excited easily.

With the okay to pet the beast he grinned from ear to ear, the warning about being gentle causing him to nod his head up and down like it was going to fall off. His hair moved to be in his eyes and he quickly reached up to swipe it away. Moving closer he held out his hand for the beast to sniff at. He knew that he had to do that first. Kind of like asking permission from the creature.

He chuckled at the enthusiasm shown by the boy. Then of course he saw that Izel held his hand out for Juniper. “Good job. Did you grow up around beasts?” It was the only thing he could think of to explain it. Most younger kids didn’t know that they had to approach slowly and give the animal time to figure them out.

“Mhm. My Aunt and Uncle have a bunch. So do my cousins.” He’d always enjoyed watching them train them. Plus he got to play with the babies. As he waited for Juniper to sniff at him he looked up at Lynx. “Maybe you know my uncle. His name is Kiyelt.”

“Ah. Well they taught you well.” He looked down at Juniper and when the beast was done sniffing at Izel it seemed he decided he would allow the petting. The beast leaned forward and bumped his head into the awaiting hand. “Oh, I’ve heard of him. He does good work.”

The nudge from Juniper had him focusing back on the beast and he gave a laugh before he moved his hand to actually provide pets. He also added in scritches behind the ears and under the chin. “I’ve never seen a beast like Juniper. What are they?” He wanted to know so he could ask his mom for one.
