Quiana lingered around the edge of the marshier area near the Elidae encampment. The winding path that cut through the damper area by the cove had several weeping trees guiding the way, their branches swooping low towards the grass that rustled everytime Quiana walked past. Her skirts swished around her ankles, her gaze determined as she sought out someone to help her with her decision to leave the isle. It was not as if she was going to leave forever, no she was simply going to Matori to look for her missing mother finally. She needed answers and her grandmother’s health was failing so she had to push forward. After speaking with the Kahi and staying with them for a bit she had decided that it was finally time to take the risk and visit overseas. To do so though she had been encouraged to go visit the local herbalist for the Elidae, a nocturnal sort that usually kept to herself along the edges of the encampment here in the marshes. It truly was strange to think that another Elidae lived all the way out here, but yet she did and so Quiana boldly marched forward so that she could pick up the medicines that others recommended to her.

It was late afternoon, the sun was slowly sinking in the sky and Chantara was already at work clearing the edge of her yard near the hut that she claimed as her own. The tan building was small and round with a thatched roof, the twisted weave of pale green and golden pieces shimmering in the faint evening light because of the protective coating that Chantara had poured over the roof earlier that day. It was a comfortable enough space to live in, especially considering she lived by herself with only a little shack nearby to hang and raise herbs. It wasn’t as if anyone ever came here anyway unless they were truly desperate for her aid. Speaking of which… Chantara tilted her head with curiosity as she spotted a figure emerging from the weeping willows. “Hello?”

Ah, there she was. Quiana raised a hand in greeting as she spotted the other Elidae who was busy at work cutting the taller grasses around her home. It admittedly was slightly intimidating seeing the sister with a scythe in hand, the metal flashing in the light as she sliced through some more weeds. That sight in addition to the rumors about the nocturnal Elidae and her potential interest in blood definitely would explain the isolation from the others, Quiana reasoned. “Chantara, right?”

Ah, so the other Elidae was indeed looking for her. A soft sigh left Chantara’s lips as she set her scythe against a tree and walked forward. Her hands were stained by the weeds, a tinge of green covering the already darkened fingertips, but all she did was slightly wipe her hands along her skirts before glancing over the older Elidae. She looked older, possibly one of the first bloomed from the new tree even, and while others may have cared or respected their seniors, Chantara just shrugged off the fact. If anything at least it meant that she wasn’t like some of the younglings who came close to her home just to run away screaming at the first sight of her. Like she would drink their blood or something? It was so ridiculous, but it did let her have her peace and quiet so Chantara allowed the rumors to keep spreading. “You found me so may I ask what you need?” She finally questioned, propping a hand on a hip as she studied the other Elidae a bit longer.

Ah, that gaze was fairly intense indeed. Quiana frowned slightly, actually thrown off by a younger Elidae glancing over at her like some judgmental Elder, but after a few seconds she regained her composure enough to answer the question. “I was hoping for some medicine for travel? I heard that you work in herbs and the like.” Hopefully it wasn’t a lie. Quiana had avoided the normal healer to avoid worrying her mother and hoped that this more secretive option would be worth the risk.

“I do.” So the other Elidae was here for some help. Chantara turned her gaze away so that she could bend down and pick her scythe back up. “I suppose there’s a reason that you came to me instead of the normal healer. I help gather herbs and deliver them to her weekly as well if you just wanted to go to her.” She expressed with a slight frown, truly having wanted nothing to do with anyone on this particular day when she was focused on cleaning up her home. She had even woken up earlier than usual so that she could do work by daylight instead of hoping to get enough moonlight for proper cleaning. Less sleep also made her a lot crankier hence her abrasive attitude that was especially strong tonight.

“Do I need to reveal it?” Quiana asked, her gaze narrowing with slight irritation. She knew that the nocturnal herbalist was often regarded as not the most pleasant person especially when it came to socializing but she felt even more abrasive than described. “I just want some traveling herbs and emergency medicines in case of injury. My travel plans are something I would rather keep to myself at the moment and going to the normal healer would lead to gossip.” That gossip would reach her grandmother and just worry her…Quiana’s gaze shifted with mixed emotions, a mixture of guilt and concern, at the very thought.

Hmm? What an expression. Chantara opened her mouth and then closed it as she thought about things. If it wasn’t for that reaction then perhaps she would have just brushed off the other Elidae and told her to come back another night, but this time she decided to endure the visit. “Fair enough.” She replied quietly. “If you’re traveling then I would give you a concoction for seasickness, just in case a boat doesn’t settle well with you. I’m assuming you’re going far overseas?” Whether to Zinris or someplace else it didn’t matter to Chantara, she just needed to know the length and the basic idea to prepare the most fitting medicines.

Well, at least it looked like Chantara was going to listen and help. For a second there Quiana swore she looked like she was ready to shove her away. It was an all too familiar expression that she knew she wore sometimes whenever someone asked her for training or something and she would rather sunbathe at the beach. It was best if she asked for everything now then just in case Chantara was not as willing the next time they met. “I’m going towards an earthling country known as Matori, potentially Zinris also.” She explained. “I’m not as worried about seasickness but I’ve never been on a boat before and I mostly want herbs to help in case of emergency with injuries. Potentially something to help with sleep as well since I don’t know how well I’ll sleep in strange places.” Did she sound spoiled? Perhaps. Did she care? Not that much.

"I see." Chantara wasn't even amazed by the admission. It wasn't her business as to what the other Elidae did during her travels, just her business to know what types of herbs would be needed. This Sister would not be the first to travel overseas and surely would not be the last. "You're fortunate I've recently acquired henbane." She mused. That plant was always hard to find considering how close it grew to Kahi territory with that pesky potions shop that always tried to get to it first. "I can wrap up some soaking moss in case you somehow get injured as well. It'll help stop any bleeding."

Quiana frowned with slight confusion. Henbane? “Isn’t that a dangerous herb?” Was she going to try to poison her for leaving the isle? Yet, the other Elidae didn’t even seem bothered by the fact that Quiana was planning on traveling to earthling lands. So surely that wasn’t the case.

Chantara’s antenna flicked, her lips pressing as to not release a sigh of frustration as she listened to the question. So many asked that and a few had run away after listening to ingredients for some of her medicines. “It can be if you misuse it.” She finally acknowledged. “However, in small doses when mixed properly it can help with motion sickness.”

“I see.” Quiana recognized the shift and tried her best to try and look interested. Chantara was a hard one to pinpoint since she seemed so eager to just fade away into the shadows unlike other Sisters who were more inclined to linger and socialize. “I was just curious since I recognized the herb. It makes sense that it would have other uses, most things do if used properly.” She replied, trying her best to seem supportive and open to listening so that the other Elidae wouldn’t be as reserved with her.

Chantara did have to admit that she wasn’t expecting the turn around in attitude. Wariness turned into interest? She bit at the inside of her cheek pondering before finally giving a nod. Fine, whatever. At least this one had the courtesy to show interest. “I will need help gathering a few more herbs though.” She began as she glanced back towards the other Elidae. “If you’re in a rush that is. Otherwise you’ll have to wait for a full moon for me to get everything properly, tonight is the only chance since some flowers only bloom under this particular moon.”

Quiana tried her hardest to not make a face. She had to help gather herbs, truly? That was the last thing she needed when she was already stressing over this journey. But she would agree to it since she did not have the time to wait a full month, not when she wanted to live within a few days. She had just returned after her Kahi adventures to spend a couple of days with her grandmother before saying farewell once more.
