Mi-Hi had been looking forward to the meteor shower all week, although she hadn’t been particularly looking forward to the shift that she’d have to pull at work earlier.
Nonetheless she had soldiered through it as best she could, and then had clocked off as quickly as she could without seeming rude.
She’d tried to put some distance between work before powering up to Sadalsuud, but hadn’t waited to get as far away as she would normally do, because she’d wanted to get herself settled in the park and maybe feed the stray cats some of the treats and she was faster as Sadalsuud than she was as Mi-Hi.
It helped having a mirror nearby that she could use to mirrorwalk to the mirror that was close to the park–
And whilst it was perhaps cheating a little, at least it had meant that she’d been able to settle herself on the bench where she usually sat whilst digging out the cat treats that she’d bought for the strays.
They weren’t homemade this time though, because between shifts at work and school she hadn’t had much time, but they were some of the nicer shop bought treats because she’d purposely bought a slightly more expensive brand.
And whilst it was only slightly hopefully the strays would still appreciate the gesture.
With the cats settled Sadalsuud reached for the thermos of not-so-hot tea and poured herself a cup before looking up at the sky, because she didn’t want to miss anything from the meteor shower.

Though Remarque hadn’t had ‘watching a meteor shower’ on his list of things to do tonight, once he stepped out of the mirror and noticed how comfortable Sadal looked, he immediately assumed that’s what she was out to do.
He hadn’t seen her in a while but that wasn’t so uncommon. The Dark Mirror Senshi were few and far between, but it was always good to run into a friendly face.
Remarque raised a hand in greeting even before he approached, mostly because he assumed she’d have picked up on the Eternal Dark Mirror Senshi aura that he arrived with.
The cats looked fairly comfortable, so he approached in his own time so as not to chase them off. He suspected she’d already put a great deal of effort into winning them over, so he didn’t call out or move too quickly.
“See anything good yet?”

Sadalsuud had sort of mentioned that she had a tendency to come to this particular park to Kiuchi when their paths had ended up crossing after the thing with the strange teleporting leaves back in October and she thought that she may have also given him the name of the park at the same time.
May have.
In truth, Sadalsuud couldn’t quite remember, but it was certainly possible given that she had taken to keeping a pen and a small pad of cute post-its in her subspace and she vaguely remembered that Kiuchi had offered to perhaps patrol with her sometimes–
So when she had picked up on the eternal strength aura flaring to sudden life, a part of Sadalsuuf had thought that it might perhaps be Kiuchi, especially when it had felt like the aura was heading in her general direction.
She hadn’t been expecting Mr Rem, because it had truly been a long while since she had last seen him, but it hadn’t stopped her from raising a gloved hand in a small wave.
Thankfully it hadn’t been the hand holding the mostly cold thermos cup of tea.
"It’s only really started" she said, before hesitating for a moment before admitting "But I was kind of worried that I was going to miss it."
Because at one point she (or rather Mi-Hi) had been worried that her shift was going to end up overrunning as it so often had a tendency to do.
And then after belatedly remembering her manners, Sadalsuud quickly added "Good evening Mr Rem" because it was something that she probably should have started with.

She was always so formal, Remarque didn’t know if it was just who she was, or because she thought he needed to be addressed with respect. Either way, he could play along. He cracked a smile. “Good evening, Miss Sadalsuud. Do you mind if I join you for a bit?”
He hadn’t meant to be out here tonight, he was just doing his usual business. Watching a meteor shower hadn’t been on his list of things to do, but if it had only really just started…
What was the harm in a few minutes?
There weren’t many places in the city where you could see the sky clearly, and while there were a few mirrors on the outskirts, he wasn’t sure if he’d have put in the effort to travel over there alone. And, it seemed like a good idea to catch up; they hadn’t spoken in a while.

Sadalsuud had always been formal with Remarque, although she had graduated from calling him Mr Prince as she had back when she had first awakened into the Court–
And that was only because he’d asked her to use 'Rem' instead, although she’d never quite been able to just call him Rem.
It wasn’t just Remarque though.
Leto was 'Miss Leto' and Acubens 'Miss Acubens' in that way of hers.
She’d never really formality on her own behalf and so had blinked at Remarque for a moment or two, before she nodded.
"I don’t mind," she said simply with a slight smile."I have a few snacks too if you want?" She left the offer open, a rueful note slipping into her voice as she added "I have tea too, but it’s kind of cold."
And then her head tilted up towards the sky, her green eyes wide in honest wonder as the first star streaked across the sky "Oh it's starting."

Though he contemplated the snacks, in the end he shook his head. “I had a big meal before I came out, I should probably be mindful. Don’t want to go on patrol too full. But I appreciate the gesture. Some time we’ll have to plan a meetup so I can come prepared.”
He settled into a seat and seemed to relax fairly easily; he leaned back and looked up at the sky.
It was beautiful in a way that only space could be. There wasn’t much in this world that he wanted and couldn’t get, one way or another, but his aspirations extended beyond this world.
He remembered the Surrounding. He remembered the expanse of stars, stretching as far as the eye could see. He remembered the power there, remembered the beauty.
He wanted to see that again. He bet it would be more beautiful out there than it was here.
After the first few stars danced across the sky, he could hold his silence no more and asked, “Have you ever been up into space?”

Sadalsuud had nodded peaceably when Remarque had turned down her offer, before pulling out a random box of Pepero sticks from the few that she’d brought along.Her green eyes absently glanced at the box for a moment, noticing that she’d managed to pull out the white cookie flavour as she pulled one of the white chocolate coated sticks intermixed with bits of crushed chocolate biscuits.
"I’d like that," she said.
Because whilst her path didn’t cross that of Remarque often and whilst Sadalsuud probably wouldn’t have made the offer on her own on account of not wanting to bother Mr Rem when he was likely very busy and had more important things to do, on the whole Sadalsuud liked talking to Mr Rem–
He was the nicest prince that she’d ever met.
He was also the only prince that she’d ever met, but it wasn’t like she was actively counting or anything.
She nibbled on the stick as she stared up at the sky, green eyes wide in honest fascination as she watched the stars chasing each other across the sky.
So caught up in it was she that it took a few moments to realise that Remarque had asked her a question, Sadalsuud backpedalling mentally (or at least trying to).
"Uh is that a thing?" she started, and then flushed slightly at the somewhat graceless response, before giving the question some thought.
"No," she admitted eventually, "I’ve never been to space."
To Mirrorspace yes, but actual space no.
"Have you?"

For all the beautiful things Remarque had seen in this world and others, he probably wouldn’t ever get enough of the stars. The meteor shower was impressive, but he wouldn’t have stopped to enjoy it if it was just himself.
When she spoke, he moved his gaze away from the stars for a few seconds to watch her face before he nodded and returned to the light show above them.
“Good few years ago, now. I wound up on the Surrounding. It was before I was even a Dark Mirror Senshi, though. Not too long before. I awakened while we were up there. It’s basically just this rainbow bridge that stretches around the universe. There weren’t many places to visit so it was in a lot of disrepair, but there were stars as far as you could see. It always stuck with me. I’ve visited a few Senshi worlds, and few Knight Wonders. Can’t get enough of it, though. It’s the only thing I wish we had more access to in the Court. I keep exploring Mirrorspace and hoping I’ll just find a room that’s all stars.”
He shrugged, like he was indifferent to such a childish fantasy. “We’ll see. I know there’s plenty hidden away in there.”

It was hard to imagine Mr Rem as anything other than part of the Court–
And more than that as the prince of the Court, because whilst Sadalsuud hadn’t met all that many princes in her life, Mr Rem had always been Mr Prince for as long as she’d been part of the court - well at least until he had asked her to use 'Rem' instead.
She’d listened in silence as he’d talked though, green eyes widening as he talked of a rainbow bridge and stars as far as could be seen.
"That honestly sounds really pretty," she admitted "I’d have liked to have seen something like that" she bit her lip slightly and hesitated for a few moments as the stars continued their dance through the sky.
"The Order senshi and knights scare me though" her voice was very small at the admission. She added quickly "I mean a few haven’t been as scary as I thought that they’d be," and apart from that eternal senshi with all of the beads in his hair that had saved her from the shouty super senshi who’d been trying to kill her, her encounters with Order had been (for the most part) accidental and deliberately so.
"But most of them seem really scary." Her voice was a whisper by that point before she awkwardly looked up at the skies again.
Although it wasn’t as if Sadalsuud had really tried to seek any out on the off-chance of them being 'not-so-scary'.

Her honesty, and vulnerability, about the topic determined the care Remarque intended to put into his answer. “They can be,” he said. None of them had ever scared him, but he couldn’t even imagine what it would take for any of them to achieve such a thing.
“But they’re just people too. They can be won over. Many of them with kindness.” He shrugged, and was pretty sure that anyone willing to attack Sadal as she was would have just been a monster, anyway.
…But she seemed so timid, so nervous. Naturally, he felt the need to make sure she was okay.
“No one’s given you any trouble, have they? If someone’s bothering you, I’ll sort them out.”

Sadalsuud shook her head "Not recently no" she admitted. "But then again I try really, really hard to avoid any Order auras when I’m powered up."
She sighed and then added "And have been doing so ever since I met a really, really shouty super senshi that tried to kill me back when I was still a basic senshi."
It was a strategy that she had stuck to for six or something years and whilst it had had varying successes, on the most part it felt like she had managed to keep away from most Order auras–
Although it probably helped that Sadalsuud didn’t power up as often these days, well at least not as often as she had back in the days when she’d still been in high school.
"The Knight that kidnapped Miss Leto and…" for a moment she had had to think on the name as she’d not been that familiar with the other senshi "Lorelay was really scary too" she admitted, because she had had nightmares for a while after the rescue.
Her lips quirked up in a small smile, that did not reach her eyes as she admitted "A part of me does know that they can’t all be as bad and as scary as those two were - because I know that not everyone can be that terrible" she tapped her temple "At least up here I do."
She hesitated, before adding, "And the eternal with all of the beads in his hair that rescued me from the shouty super senshi and the eternal that Miss Acubens knew somehow that helped us rescue Miss Leto and Lorelay were both surprisingly nice."
The smile faded as she pointed to her heart for a moment before admitting "But it’s been harder to convince down here, and just easier on the whole to try and just avoid them all altogether."

Remarque nodded as he listened, and then sighed. He leaned back a bit and looked at the stars like there was an easy answer up there.
“No, that makes sense. If you ever want to practice fighting, maybe work up some self defense moves so you can get yourself out of a pinch, let me know. Sometimes it just takes time and confidence to build yourself up. You’re strong though, Sadalsuud. I think you’ve got a lot of potential. It’s okay if it takes you time to reach it. Just make sure you reach out for help, okay? I don’t want you to stagnate because you’re afraid or you don’t know where to go. You’ve got people who will support you.”
He could imagine a handful of Senshi with beads in their hair, but he immediately thought of Athene and supposed he should ask if he was making friends with other Dark Mirror Senshi the next time they crossed paths.
“There’s no shame in being careful. I'm not going to force you to do anything that makes you uncomfortable, especially if you've got a system that works for you and isn't holding you back. I know a good few senshi that only do their patrols with a partner. We could look into finding someone you could team with, too. If you wanted the extra support. But if you want to go to space some time, I know some people with access to other worlds. Maybe I could ask them to give us a ride some time.”

Sadalsuud considered Remarque’s offer about letting him know if she ever wanted to try practising fighting, for a few moments before nodding.
"It’s not something that I’d want to consider at the moment" she admitted, in part because whilst she was terrible at fighting she wasn’t sure if she wanted to demonstrate just how bad she was at it and in part because she wasn’t sure if it was something that she had time for–
Not when classes and work ate up most of what time she had.
"But, I’d definitely let you know if that changes."
She couldn’t help but gape a little when Remarque said that she was strong, her green eyes wide–
Well at least right up until the point when she realised that she was staring.
Fortunately one of the cats that she had started to consider a regular chose that moment to pad over and noisily demand some more treats and Sadalsuud was able to busy herself with digging out some treats that she kept in reserve, because the ginger cat that she had privately taken to calling Butterball seemed to be almost constantly 'hungry'.
"I’ve never seen myself as particularly strong," Sadalsuud admitted at last. "I’m not particularly brave and I know that my magic’s not particularly impressive." She frowned and then admitted "Well I’m still not that sure what it does apart, although Arnica said that it helped when Mirrorspace tried to squish us all that last time - and I’m super glad that it did."
She paused and then admitted "Actually Arnica said that I should ask you about my broken music box" because she had promised that she would ask about it.
"And Kiuchi kind of offered to patrol with me" she said, "But I wouldn’t mind patrolling with others sometime."
She paused for a moment before admitting quietly "I don’t really know that many from the Court."

Remarque tilted his head a bit. “Well, now’s as good a time as any to start socializing. There are probably a fair few Dark Mirror Senshi other than yourself who aren’t sure how to meet each other. We’ll get there. I know we’re a bit scattered, but we’ve all got Mirrorspace. I keep hoping that if we fix it up enough we’ll be able to use it more effectively. But it takes so much energy.”
He sighed, exasperated, but he was sure that all of their collections were doing something. There hadn’t been any odd instabilities recently, at least.
“You should give yourself a bit more credit, though. I know it’s not easy to be out here living a double life just to look after the Court and keep the city safe. I’ll be glad if you and Kiuchi can look after each other. What’s going on with your music box?”
