Quote: The Wishing Tree (1): A Destiny City Star Festival Tradition to be held every year; In Town Square, there is a beautiful tree with spreading branches. It is tall, but the lowest branches are easily reached. The city has decorated the tree with small, starlike ornaments and glistening lights. Thick leaves and beautiful purple flowers dangle from the branches, along with a myriad of different colored papers with handwritten wishes. Next to the tree is a stack of blank paper with twine attached, and a handwritten sign that explains: Write your wish on a sheet of paper and tie it to the tree. Take one wish off the tree and do your best to grant it. When you have granted the wish, bury the paper in the park. The papers are biodegradable and filled with seeds. There are no rules for wishing, but you are encouraged to wish for something vague enough that it can be interpreted in many ways so that it can be granted; you do not write your name on it, but it is encouraged to write something that doesn’t wish for self gain, but rather something that can make the world a better place. Some wishes dangling from the tree already include things like “I wish there wasn’t so much litter in the park,” “I wish someone would clean the graffiti off the old historic buildings,” and “I wish there were more volunteers at the shelter.” If you choose to use the Wishing Tree, what do you wish for? If your wish is private, you may write it on the paper and choose a spot in the park and bury it yourself instead of hanging it on the tree.

Issy looked at the tree as her family put their wishes on the tree she frowned why were they doing this it was silly then again it kinda was a community thing where anyone could fulfill the wish so she supposed that was alright. She could only think of one thing to wish for. She wrote it down and hung it on the tree and then she went to sit on the side of the hill as she watched others putting more wishes on the tree. She didn't tell anyone her wish, she knew that not everyone would even understand her wish.
She wanted help to understand the strange world she had found herself in, she needed to learn more about it. So she could do the duty that fate had dropped on her. She had never expected it. She believed in things she could see and touch. To be sure that bug had touched her and it had hurt. She shook her head this was a weird city indeed. Someone must have put this city here for a reason why else would it be a center for such strange stuff? She couldn't help but ask herself. She sighed looking at the tree.

Both Kianna's parents had meetings today at their companies. So they told her to attend and enjoy the festival as much as she could. Kianna was excited to have the freedom to explore the festival on her own even though she missed her parents. She was still looking forward to trying all the activities and seeing all the interesting sights. She couldn't wait to tell her parents about it when they got home.
As she walked around she noticed that in Town Square, there was a beautiful tree with spreading branches. She walked towards it and noticed a sign that said Wishing Tree. She wondered what the Wishing Tree was and decided to take a closer look. She noticed that there were pieces of paper tied to the branches with wishes written on them. She was amazed that so many people had made wishes here.
She figured she might as well wish while she was here. So she grabbed a piece of paper and wrote her wish - "I wish to find some clues about who my biological parents are." She took that paper with the twine and attached it to a branch that was at about eye level with her. Once she finished she looked around, "Is there anything else I need to do?" she said wondering if she was missing a step. Since her wish was important to her, and she wanted to make sure she took part in this wishing tree right.

Issy looked at the other girl who was asking if there was anything else she should do with her wish. Issy shook her head "Nope you have to wait and see if anyone grants your wish, there is nothing else to do and it's not guaranteed anyone's wishes will be granted, but at least it's not some silly magical wishing tree." She said with a dismissive wave of her hand since she thought a real wishing tree was silly and something to be ignored. You got what you wanted through hard work not from making wishes on trees or stars. "I'm Issy, you can sit with me if you like." She offered. She was still waiting for her family to finish putting wishes on the tree. Issy had her family but she knew there were others in the city that didn't have a family to count on.

Kianna was happy to hear someone respond that she had done this wishing tree right. She was okay hearing her wish might not magically come turn, but even a small chance was worth it to her.
"Well that's a relief, Thank you. I normally come to events like this with my parents, but they had to work last minute," she said kindly as she headed over and sat down next to Issy.
"I'm Kianna it's nice to meet you Issy. So are you here with your family?" she asked kindly. She figured this was a family friendly event, but since this was her first year attending she wasn't quite sure. After all this city had a lot more events than she was used too.

Issy nodded "Yea I'm here with my family." She looked at the tree and nodded again her thoughts wandering thinking about a number of things. She shook her head and then turned to look at the other girl. "So have you been having fun at the festival?" She asked to be polite. She picked up a star charm and turned it between her fingers. She smiled looking at it. It was really pretty. She liked the color. "These are all over the place." Issy said with a laugh. She looked up at the tree and said "Wishing tree such a silly concept." She laid back on the grass and looked up at the night sky full of stars. People wished on stars all the time as well. People believed in all sorts of strange things. She sighed and then sat back up. "What do you think?" She asked the other girl.

Kianna smiled it was great seeing people out with their families. She would definitely have to tell her parents about this wishing tree. "Well I haven't seen to much yet. I'm loving it so far. I will say I think this tree is definitely going to be a highlight though. How about you?" she said kindly. She knew the tree wasn't magical but putting her wish out into the world well it was like a relief.
She noticed the star charm in the girls hand and quickly looked around her. She noticed a green emerald like one, and picked it up. "wow thank you, this so pretty," she said as she held hers in her hand. She had no idea there events here gave out free gifts like that. The idea was pretty cool though, and great way to attract people to them.
"Well I don't know. I think it's kind of nice. Putting your wish out into the world like that, well it can make one feel like it's one step closer to coming true," she said. She knew her wish was definitely a long shot, but just the idea that she had written it down was like a motivator for her. A motivator the wishing tree created. Then again maybe she thought differently about it because of her parents.
"I may be a little imaginative though, my parents work in company's that create stuff and test peoples crazy ideas. They always tell me to think is to create," she said with a little laugh. Her parents were wonderful but they definitely were out of box thinkers and they had always told her to never stop dreaming of what she wanted to come true.
