Another lovely day in Matori with the ocean waters gleaming like diamonds. Even with clouds covering part of the sun it was still a beautiful morning and Zoicite was eager to explore the cove near his home. His mothers were out for the week doing business in Oba so Zoicite and Raffrdeigh were being watched by their grandparents, both of whom were not very strict and rather encouraged some exploration and play…as long as the children stayed within the range of the cove and didn’t go out into the deep ocean by themselves. Still, that didn’t stop Zoicite from wanting to explore for potential treasure near the tidepools. So grabbing his satchel bag, the boy found himself splashing around while waiting on his sister to join.

Raffrdeigh was filling her pack with lunch and a big blanket and a spare canteen of fresh water so that she could extend her time exploring for the day. She loved their regular picnics on the beach as a family, but with her parents gone, she would have to make do with just her brother. Without anyone watching what exactly she packed though, she was able to sneak in a few snacks as well. Once the pack was fit to burst, she heaved it over her back and scurried after her sibling. "Ugh! I'm already hungry!" she whined with an amused laugh as she set the pack down in the sand. Without waiting, she dug around the pack until she found a big sweetroll to start munching on contently.[/size[

A chuckle escaped Zoicite at his sister's antics. "I would be hungry already too if I was lugging around that much stuff. How many sweet rolls did you sneak this time?" He teased before glancing around the tide pool, his toes digging into the damp sand as he picked out another spiral shell that looked almost like a shimmering rainbow in the sunlight. "And better yet have enough to share?" Zoicite always did forget about food and the like, he always tried to keep plenty of empty space for the various treasures that they could find while sneaking from whatever his sister packed.

Raff looked to her brother with a playful glint in her eye. "Got enough so I can spend the whooole day out here! Enough to share, too, of course." She would never forget to include Zoicite in her travel calculations. They were going to do everything together forever!
She carried her roll over the the shallows Zoicite was already looking through and squatted for a look. After a moment, she sighed and shook her head. "I can't wait until I'm big enough to look in the deeper water by myself." She pouted and looked up at her brother. "Aren't I big enough yet?"

Zoicite shot his sister an appreciative grin. Perhaps he was a bit too spoiled by his family, but at least he treated them just as well in return! "I'll grab one in a bit then." He promised with a firm nod, his stomach already tempted to rumble just from the anticipation of something sweet. Poor Nanami always tried to entice them to eat more bitter, healthier things but it looked like both of the children had inherited Noelani's sweet tooth instead!
"Makuahine and Mother both say after our next birthday we can go deep diving with them." Zoicite replied after a moment, his brow furrowed in thought since he always wanted to try deeper explorations. "At least now we can dive in the cove as long as family is nearby but the deeper waters have dangerous creatures that wanna eat us....like how you're eating that sweet roll." He repeated his mothers' warnings, adding the twist about the sweet roll on his own of course, and gave a nod as if that sealed the deal. One day they could go out into the deeper waters, but honestly Zoicite was happier not risking losing a limb to some hungry shark or something worse. "Maybe we can find a hidden cave or a sunken ship like they've found. What if we bring in more than pearls, like something rare and magical? What would you wanna find, Raff? Would you keep anything cool for yourself?" That would be amazing! Would they keep a relic or sell it? There was that one patron in Oban who always took artifacts for some museum that he also wanted to see when they were finally allowed to travel to Sulburi as well. Perhaps it wouldn't be as exciting as a treasure hunt, but seeing all the old stuff was still interesting.

Raff's chewing paused as wide eyes looked down at the roll with surprise. Oh... right. She had always heeded the warning of their parents, but the comparison made it much more relatable to her now. "I'll stick to eating instead of being eaten." She gave a big toothy grin and chomped another bite out of the roll like a predator.
Her fierce expression took on a more contemplative look as the questions came. She hummed softly and sat back with her feet in the shallow water. "It would depend on what it is. A magic pearl would be cool. I'd probably keep that." She licked a little vanilla icing from her thumb and nodded.

"Heh." Zoicite shot his sister a playful look. "Maybe we should look for some caves in the cliffs to burn off all those sweets." That was their compromise within the family, the more sweets meant the more training or chores to burn off all the extra energy. "I did bring some rope if we do get into anything...though we can't tell our grandparents if we explore too far out." They technically were staying in the cove, just going up a little bit higher that was all.
While they pondered rare treasure, Zoicite was still looking for some on his own in the little tidepool. There was a starfish which he scooted out of the way before grabbing a piece of sea glass that had washed in with the hightide, the pale green piece almost like a crescent moon in shape. "Magic pearl? What would that do exactly? Zap people or heal or something? I think a sword like what Makuahine has would be amazing. She looks so strong with it!" He stated before frowning and holding the sea glass up towards Raff as if comparing it to her eyes. Almost matches!

Despite a brief wrinkle of her nose, Raff nodded with understanding. Right, they did have a deal to keep. She would have been more than willing to scale the cove anyway, but knowing it was partly to make up for the excess sweet made it seem just a little less fun. She would forget to be cranky within moments, but she could pout for now!
"Never had a magic pearl before. I guess it could do anything." She wiggled her toes in the water with a smile. "Maybe it'll protect us from the things that wanna eat us. Then we could explore the deep parts without worrying anyone." She just loved being in the water, and anything that would help her be in it more was welcome. "Oh, or it'll let me bring as many rolls as I want while swimming and keep them from getting all soggy so I wouldn't even have to come back up to eat! Just whenever I wanna visit grandma and grandpa."

"Something that glows and creates a barrier of sorts." Mused Zoicite with a nod before laughing as another thought struck him. "Or it just makes us appear super stinky to those monsters looking for a snack." He preferred not being considered stinky, but at the same time it was a far better option than some monster eating them. He could only shake his head at the idea concerning the sweet rolls. It was probably best that they would get soggy since even he didn't know how long he could stand being underwater or on land without his sister!
"Hmm...there's a few pieces of sea glass here." He murmured as he bent down to pick up another one, his hands pausing for a moment to enjoy the feeling of cool water slowly washing over them before scooping out more of the colorful pieces. "Oh! If we scale the cliffs why don't we find enough treasures to make our own treasure cave?" It didn't have to be super high up, but hidden enough that they could keep their own precious things there. Couldn't that be fun? Everyone always wanted to find treasure, but what about actually hiding something? If no one ever hid anything then there wouldn't be any treasure to look for in the first place!

"Eww, I don't wanna be stinky," she exclaimed with a laugh. How silly! "All the nice creatures would be scared away if we were stinky. I only wanna keep away the bad ones." She tapped lightly at her chest. "I'd turn it into a necklace. Something really pretty to feel safe all the time."
She tucked away the last bite of roll and sighed contently. So yummy.... Treasure cave?! Raff sat up with immediate interest. "I want a treasure cave! We can keep it a secret from everybody." Her brow knit slightly. "If someone else finds it though, they'll take everything. I don't want anyone taking my treasures." She pursed her lips as she thought over how they could get the best of both worlds.

Zoicite laughed at his sister's reaction. "May be too late for that." He teased, poking at her playfully before nodding at the necklace idea. "A necklace that can make a barrier for safety, nice." She could use it to defend them while he went out to attack whatever had threatened them in the first place.
"That's the trick though. We have to make certain it's super hidden and maybe even steal a lock and a chest to hold things." He did worry about their belongings being taken, the very thought brought a frown to his lips as he pondered the risk. "Oh! What if we do a fake treasure first? If it stays for a while then surely we'll have picked the perfect spot!"

"Too late for you, maybe!" she shot back with a playful swat at the poking hand. Raff stood up then and turned to look up at the looming cove. There were so many spots that could be good treasure caves, for sure. "Oooh, good idea! A fake one should work." Her grin turned mischievous as she walked toward the cliffs. "Fake treasure might not fool everyone though. We should have a trap at the front to make it obvious when someone other than us goes in. Like a bucket of feathers or paint!"

"Oh?" Zoicite's lips curled upwards into a devious grin. "A trap isn't a bad idea." He agreed with a nod. "But we have to make sure we know how to avoid it. Like a tripwire or something that we can step around but is hidden to others?" They could rig up a bucket of something, but it would have to be something that didn't go bad quickly so maybe some sticky feathers could work...wasn't there a type of sap that didn't dry quickly and could linger on the feathers to really get them stuck to someone?
"We need to get some fake treasure first." He held up some of the seaglass, his gaze thoughtful before he offered it towards Raff. "I can sacrifice a few pieces of this and we could paint some normal rocks golden, okay? After that we need to find the perfect spot and start working on the trap."

Raff nodded along with the suggestions. "Sticky feathers! Then we'll know they were there, and they'll learn to not snoop in our treasure caves. We can use it when we find a cave to use for our real treasure, too!" She accepted the glass and peered over it intently before she gave a satisfied nod. "I've got lots of paint at home we can use. If you're giving up the glass, I can give up these stones for painting! I've got more at home, anyway." She raised a couple fingers to tap her chin lightly. "I wonder if Mother and Makuahine have anything to put in. They find all sorts of stuff on their trips.

"Exactly!" Zoicite's expression brightened even more as their plan started to come together. What an idea! They could test out a spot and if it was perfect then they would never have to worry about thieves trying to come into their home for treasure, not with it hidden away from home! "It can get smelly too so they'll stink for a few days which will really be a lesson."
"Sounds like a trade to me." Zoicite glanced towards the tidepool and nodded. "Maybe I can try to find a few more pieces here for it." He did pause at the idea of their mothers being involved, the youngling almost smiling with agreement before thinking twice about the idea. "But they're super good treasure hunters....what if they decide they want to try and find our treasure? Is it worth the risk?" Not that their mothers would steal from them, but more so that maybe they would try to test their children's ability to hide things? Could they pass the test of experienced treasure hunters like Mother and Makuahine? Talk about a test if so!
