The Reservoir (4) : The Destiny City Reservoir opened about two years ago and is an easy escape from the big city. It’s a five minute drive outside of the Eastern side of town and features clear water and sandy beaches--although, the sand here is notorious for squeaking when you step on it. It’s a hot spot for all fun summer activities, but it’s been in the news for mysterious reports of some strange, aquatic monster. Some accounts say they’ve spotted a twenty foot long, snake like creature capable of rearing a long neck high above the water. It’s hard to tell if the videos are doctored, but there are too many rumors to dismiss easily. Something strange might be lurking deep in the water. Or it’s just a hoax to get people out to the Reservoir!
But…Sometimes, people feel like something is grabbing their ankle, even if they are just wading in the shallow end. In the deeper parts of the water, it gets a little more intense: something has been said to grab onto ankles and pull. People have been warned about dangerous pranks, but so far no one has been caught. In the shallow end, anyone unfortunate enough to be targeted may feel themselves being knocked off their feet and tugged into the water; anyone in deep water may feel a firm grip on their ankle, tugging them lower and lower. Somehow, anyone it targets is freed--either by wriggling and fighting, or because someone intervenes and pulls the would-be victim up. No one has drowned in the lake. Yet. It's impossible to see who, or what, is doing this, but it usually gives up after one failed attempt. Usually.
While you may find yourself harassed by the supposed cryptid, or see something visibly odd in the distance, you cannot take any pictures of the creature. Who knows if you’re even being attacked by the cryptid–or just another youma?
Shedir heard about Destiny City Reservoir that opened two years ago. She didn't know much about reservoirs but since she had already checked out the power plant it was the logical next stop on her list. She decided to visit the reservoir to learn more about it. When she arrived, she was amazed by the size of the lake and the amount of life there. The clear water and sandy beaches were one of the main features she noticed, but she was sure there was more to it. After all it was supposedly not only a hot spot, but also maybe haunted.
The haunted part grabbed her. She was not only here to see the scenes but also to check the water. She had heard reports of something grabbing people's ankles. She quickly walked towards the waters' edge, and placed her hand on the wet sand. "Hmm, I wonder what mystery your waters hide," she wondered aloud trying to figure out where to start her investigation at. She slowly peered into the water, her heart racing in anticipation of what she might find.

As usual, Sumner was doing a patrol around the reservoir, this time powered up as a Squire instead of a regular lifeguard. It was around this time every year, since the reservoir opened, that sightings of something mysterious usually appeared and reports of people being pulled by something unseen. He hadn't been able to find out what exactly it was and wished that there were less mystery surrounding magic. One would think that all monsters were Youma, but then there would be random ones that popped up that didn't appear to have any aura at all.
He just hoped there wasn't a nuclear waste dump site anywhere nearby.
As he was finishing another loop around the reservoir he noticed someone this time and their aura. They must have just come and it appeared to be... a child? One of the "Chibi Senshi" then. Still, his lifeguard instincts started to surface and he couldn't help but move over to her. "You need to be careful around the water's edge. Strange things have been reported around here." He said as he walked over to her and attempted to figure out if she was looking at anything particular. "I'm Sumner, Squire of Neptune." He said, holding his hand out to her to shake, hoping he came off at least a little friendly instead of his usual serious lifeguard demeanor.
Shedir was taken back by a voice behind her. She quickly backed away from the water. She turned around to find the voice source. It was someone with bright red-orange hair and an outfit that looked like it came straight out of the sea. Pearls, shells, blue, they looked so pretty in her eyes. Shedir was captivated by the beauty of the person. She couldn't help but stare, wondering who this person was and why they were here. She knew she had to find out.
She could tell his concern was genuine and that made her more at ease. Since to her that means they are good people.
"Oh well thank you for the concern! I'm actually here looking into those weird things," she said kindly as she noticed his hand outstretched. She reached up and shook his hand before introducing herself. "It's nice to meet you Sumner, I'm Shedir - Chibi Super Senshi of Mummies. Are you here to investigate the waters too?" She couldn't help but question, since if she wasn't the only one out here investigating it must mean something was definitely going on. And whatever that was she had to figure it out.

Sumner silently raised an eyebrow but didn't say anything about the Chibi Senshi's inspection. He knew that Chibi Senshi were an... integral part of the Order side, but his experience with kids taught him that they usually got into a lot of trouble.
And he was a Squire, at least right now while powered up. Instead he decided to nod. "Yep. Seems something strange happens here every year since this resevoir was built. Squeaky sand," He said, moving his foot onto another part of it, "strange creatures, I even got pulled underwater by... something here. Don't know what it was because no one else was in the water when I looked. But while I'm here I'd be happy to help you look." He said with a small smile. "I know this pretty well since I work around here."
Shedir was interested to hear that something like this happens every year. Last year she hadn't come over this way so maybe she just missed it. Now she was more curious than ever. After all, why do they keep coming back year after year like that? Wouldn't it be better to move locations, or was it because they couldn't move? That was when an idea hit her. Maybe it was a ghost trapped in the water forever. The thought of that excited her.
"It's crazy - Something unknown pulled you under. I appreciate you for your help in advance though! Even though we don't know what it is. I'm excited to see if we can figure this out. Maybe it's a ghost or something," she said with a smile as she moved around the area a bit. With each step she tried to look into the water without getting too close which was not an easy feat.
"So do you have any ideas where we should look first?" she said as she turned around and looked at Sumner. Not really paying attention how close to the edge she was.

"I hope so too. Then we can stop having so many strange events happening around this reservoir." The sand would stay though, as much as he wanted it replaced. He "hmmed" as he thought about her question. "If I were to take a guess about... whatever it is and it not wanting to be seen, we may have to take a look on the darker side of the reservoir, or swim into the deeper parts of it. The latter is riskier though, even if I have training to help a drowning person, I don't have the ability to see underwater." Only climb up waterfalls, which was a bit silly, but apparently it was something all Knights who lived at his Wonder had.
He took a look over at the deeper end of it. He couldn't help but get some chills, even if he worked at this place most days. There was something here, well, in the entire city, that just couldn't be explained, even by chaos magic.
Shedir agreed it would be nice if they could stop all these crazy events from happening. That way maybe people could feel safe around the water again.
She nodded he was right it definitely didn't want to be seen, and honestly it was good at hiding. She was impressed how no one seemed to know what it was. She listened to his ideas and tried to process them. They seemed like good ideas, and while they were risky. She wanted answers and if she needed to take some risks to get them. Well she was going to do just that!
"I like your idea, and honestly maybe we can use our attacks to help us if we fall into trouble. I know normally we need a target, but maybe it can just distort the water enough for the creature to release if we are in trouble," she spoke calmly. She didn't know if her plan would work, but it was better than nothing at least in her eyes. Since like he said the water was sometimes hard to see in.
Shedir quickly headed towards the deep end, and she got as close to the edge without touching the water. She peered over to into the water on the deeper end and that was when she felt it. Something gripped her ankle, and started to pull her into the water! "It's here!" she yelled as her legs were pulled into the water. She didn't even think she had gotten that close, but it appeared she had without thinking.

"I'm not too sure my magic would be that useful..." He said as he watched her get closer to the deep end, the hairs on the back of his neck standing up as his life-guarding duties started to kick in. "Hey I wouldn't get close-" But it was too late. She had gotten close enough for... whatever it was in there to grab her.
He quickly ran over to her and grabbed her waist while attempting to kick at whatever was pulling her in the water. Why was it so dark?! "Can your magic do anything about this?!" He asked as he struggled against the pull. "Can't use mine" he huffed "without strumming my harp!"
