The Fireflies (6) : In the warm summer nights, little glowing lights begin to bob and dart through the city. Fireflies are mating, so this isn't uncommon in itself; in the past few days you've probably seen hundreds of fireflies. What makes these lights so unique is that they seem to change color; you might see a blue one, a green one, a red one. They flicker randomly, and something just seems off with them. If you come into contact with one, you will find yourself with a strange electric jolt. They cannot be caught, and will flicker away if you pursue too aggressively. This isn’t the first time they’ve appeared in Destiny City, but no one’s been able to tell where they came from or where they’re going. No matter how quickly you chase them, they always seem to disappear before you can find any answers.
Summer nights meant better weather for taking photos so Hela too full advantage of her network of mirrors to make her way to one of her usual haunts. Today she was going to try taking some photos of the decorations that were littering the town. But first, she focused and felt around to see if there were any other magical people around. A similar dark mirror signature was a bit sways but otherwise nothing, which was ok because they wouldn’t bother her too much.
As she set up her tripod and adjusted the settings on her camera, she noticed a weird flickering light. It couldn’t be a bug because it was like pink, oh no then it was purple instead?
That was… weird.
Turning her camera towards the flickering, she tried to get a photo. It blinked again just as she got it but nothing really showed up well on the camera. It wasn’t buzzing like those freaking cicadas so she thought maybe it would be a good idea to see what was up. Just to make sure they were bugging anyone.
Taking down the camera and shoving it back into her subspace, she started following the flickering light. Eventually one became two and they were heading towards the other dark mirror.
Guess she was meeting whoever they were, maybe it was Hybris again?

Bélénos loved summer. Fireflies were positively vibrant in the evening and she loved hanging out with them, watching their lights softly flash in the dark. So naturally, while collecting energy in the park, she mainly focused on watching the pretty little bugs float around.
And then they started being colors other than yellow, and well, wasn't that interesting? She reached out for a blue one, trying to snatch it from the air, but it managed to stay just out of her reach. Damn!
"Wait up, you're cool," she mumbled, reaching out for another one. But once again, she was just too slow.
Man.
She sensed the other Dark Mirror coming her way and she let herself be distracted by that. Pivoting on her heel slightly, she waved and beamed at the other Senshi.
"Good night," she called out. "You seein' this s**t?"

Oh it wasn't Hybris but someone new which was neat. Waving towards the new senshi, she kept following the fireflies as they congregated with the other ones in the park. "Yes, they're like kinda weird, right? I thought fireflies only did that yellow-green blink thing? Where did they come from? I don't think I've seen such a thing out in the woods."
Watching them float and flicker in a weird rainbow of colors was pretty tame for a weird thing though. At least nothing was attacking anyone and they seemed pretty passive if not avoidant of people. That was definitely a nice change in pace from the past few encounters with weird s**t in this city.
"Oh yeah, I'm Hela by the way. I am sorry if I interrupted you and your wraith thing. I'm still a bit new to all this but uh what do you think of these fireflies?"

"Don't worry, I feel like I'm still pretty new myself, sometimes, even if I've been at this for like, a year, I think? I'm not sure, I've just kinda... y'know, not worked really hard, haha. I'm a little too chill, y'know?" she rambled. "Anyway, um, nice to meet you, Hela, I'm Bélénos! Senshi of Pears!"
She struck a cute pose, giggling. "I've never seen such colorful fireflies either. But they're beautiful," she said, more quietly, more awed. "I love them. Destiny City is so weird!"

"Oh that's ok, I feel like everyone can go at their own pace and stuff. I just wanna get a bit more figured out around this city. There is just so much weird crap going on and it's a bit overwhelming. It is nice to meetcha too! Oh yea, Dolls are my thingy. Pears sound really tasty, to be honest." She looked around at the fireflies and walked a bit to try to get a closer look as they flickered between all the different colors of the rainbow. "They are pretty nice and there are sooo many of them, it kinda reminds me of back home since we don't have a lot of light pollution back there like there is here in the city. Have you been here in the city for awhile? Also, I wanna see where these are coming from so let's maybe follow them if you're up for it?" She was curious if they were coming from some sort of weird place or if this was just how the fireflies were from around here.

"I wasn't the biggest pear fan until I found out they're like, universally assigned to be My Whole Thing," Bélénos admitted with a soft laugh. "Dolls sound like fun, do you get to do anything creepy with them? I'm kind of a big horror movie fan, and dolls are so good for that."
One of the interesting fireflies happened to land on Bélénos at that moment and she yelped as she experienced a minor zap, startling the bug off of her.
"Um, yeah, I've been in the city for a while. My dad owns a horse stable, though, so we get to drive out and see the stars pretty often. Owwie, those things hurt, what the heck!" She pouted, rubbing her hand dramatically.
"Don't touch 'em, but yeah, we could follow them, see if we can find... some kind of like spawn point or something," she speculated.

Hela was starting to like this senshi even more as they spoke. "I would say yea they're able to be a bit spooky. Basically, it's like a mini-doll that looks like who I target shows up and I can like poke em and stuff and it does things to them. It's all kinda small at this point since I'm new but I get horror movie vibes from it a bit. I've seen some horror movie about dolls like Annabelle and stuff they were really good."
Hela watched as the bug kinda zapped the other girl. Oh that didn't bode well if they were like the cicada things. "Oh I love horses, someone way down the way from us had a few so I would see them up on the hill roaming whenever we would head out to the nearest city for stuff. Are you ok? It looked like that thing zapped ya."
She hadn't needed to wait long for a response though. "Ok yea let's go take a look, I'd say keep an eye on where it got ya just in case but, I don't think these things are as spicy as the other bugs I've been seeing."

Bélénos grinned. "Oh, that sounds so cool," she gushed. "I hope I get the chance to see it in action one day. And uh, yeah, I'm fine, it was just like an extra strong static shock. Nothing crazy."
