Radioactive Mysteries (13) : Destiny City has been booming, but with more people you need more power. Recently, an old power plant has been renovated and updated and just opened for business–but now people have been claiming dizziness or fatigue when in the area. Not to mention the animals. So far one shady, blurry video has been posted online of a strange bear-shaped humanoid ‘monster’ in the area. It’s difficult to tell if it’s a hoax or not, but whether or not you believe it, it might be a good idea to keep your eye out if you’re in the area. Especially because if you pass through, you feel like something’s watching you. It doesn’t have an aura so it can’t be a youma, but if you poke around too late at night you might find a strange creature that's built like a bear, covered in fur, but which has a strangely human presence. Something about it is just off--or, maybe it’s just your imagination. Maybe it’s just someone in a costume having a bit of fun at your expense. Still, its claws are sharp and it’s fast. When it runs through the forests, the trees seem to crack upon impact, and if you explore during the daytime you might find strange scratches and odd markings in the grass. The longer you’re in the area, the dizzier you get.
Sightings of a creature roaming around the city had piqued Noctua's interest. By all reports it wasn't a youma, and it wasn't that Noctua didn't believe those reports... some had come from personally trusted sources... it was just the question of what else could it be? It couldn't be one of those mysterious mirrorwraiths... she'd seen them herself and they fit their names fairly well. Ghostly creatures, and certainly not the size of a bear. So... what was it? She'd been wracked with the question all week, pouring over the reports of it that she could find in the negaverse offices. She'd dove as deep online as she could regarding the topic as a civilian, but in the end all she found were vague a generic reports, hearsay, and one irritatingly blurry video. IT had her more than a little curious to say the least.
And yes. Sure. Maybe part of this was also seeing how far she could go with her new-found rested body. Maybe she wanted to know how strong she was now that she was eating, putting on a little weight, and no longer suffered from dizzy spells and nausea. Maybe she was still exploring her new life as a moderately healthy young woman, longing to know how far she could go with it all, how much more powerful she was, how much could she handle and dish out.
But mostly this was about duty.
Mostly.
Mostly she wanted to know what was prowling her city, causing chaos and making an issue.
Spending time with her general was, as always, a pleasant benefit, of course. Because of course she'd extended an invitation to him when she finally decided to go looking for this creature. And she knew he's say yes, both from his drive to protect her as much as wanting to spend time with her as well.
"Do you have any ideas as to what this thing is, General," she asked lightly, her footfalls muffled by the dew-damp grass.

Looking over to Noctua he shook his head slowly; he hadn't a clue. Having been asked out to go hunting by Noctua, after her research had provided her no solid information on this creature, he had agreed to go incase it turned out to be more than she could handle on her own. It wasn't that he didn't trust her, he did, he knew she was loyal and that was in part the issue. She was loyal to a fault and it was his job to keep her safe, to keep her from jumping in too deep and not pulling out of a fight. She would do whatever it took to serve the Negaverse and to keep the city as safe as possible from thigns which might pose a threat to their faction and it's members.
He would make sure whatever she got into was safe for her, was something she could get outof if need be. He'd have her back.
"I've heard the reports o nthe news but nothing else. I didn't look into it, figuring it's just another one of the cities many oddities around this time of year." This city was such a mess and not just because of the war; though that was a large part of it. This city would never get fixed...even if they won the war and the fighting stopped. He was certain some aspects of this cities chaos would remain. "Be careful and don't jump right into anything. I'm not risking you." She was great in a battle, she would do whatever it took to win, but sometimes she went into something she couldn't handle on her own. This might be one of those times.
"Also, for now you should keep from entering my office. The plants aren't safe really, they are draining energy from people who enter and have been gathering more it seems."

Those curious little plants. Fascinating though they were, they did seem to be causing Benitoite more trouble than she thought they were worth. If she had her way they'd simply dump the lot of them and be done with it. But then again, she'd never been one plants. That was where Benitoite and his friend Acubens were the most confusing; their love for growing things. The lack of feedback, the slow returns... Noctua would never call herself a woman of action -- at least not truly or in long spurts -- but waiting... that had never been something she had been good at. Especially not now that she could stay awake long enough to experience life around her. There was simply too much going on to just sit still.
"And they aren't draining you, Sir," she asked gently. She may not have the patience for such tedious research, but she knew that her General was. And he was, even if he kept it hidden, enjoying it to some degree. "Or have you been evicted from your office as well?"
Which would be funny to a certain degree of course, but if they were it only solidified Noctua's belief that he should simply dump the weeds in the rift and be done with them. And she was just about to voice as much, not for the first time of course, when something caught her eye. A slight movement, of course, but enough to divert her attention. Enough to have her swiftly turning her head to catch the source of the movement.
Too quickly, it would seem, as her vision began to swim and her head got light for a split second. Not long, but enough to have her breathing hitching and her center of balance swaying against Benitoite.
A sensation she hadn't felt in months. A sensation that she thought she'd all but overcome.

"Oh, they are but slowly. Though I've noticed they seem to take a bit more as of recently." He wasn't immune to them, much as he wished he was, it simply wasn't something he'd get so lucky with. It was why even he was keeping out of his office as much as he could, they simply weren't that safe. Not after the first time when he'd realized what they were doing, that had not been nice. At least he hadn't passed out or fallen asleep in his office, as he suspected either thing would have been very bad for him. His cousin had found him instead; a good thing for himself.
"I've been...not evicted but I'm on limited time when I go into my office." Trailing off as he worded things and smiled a bit more, it was almost amusing that he'd had his office taken over by plants of all things. But he supposed it was fitting, as anyone who knew him would agree.
Startled by her sudden swaying he reached out to steady her. "Noct, what's wrong?" Worry flooding his voice as he held onto her, hoping she could right herself soon. She hadn't had any issues like this in a long time, he'd kept up with her on her health and progress, so to see this suddenly was jolting to say the least. They had said people were experiencing dizzy spells and tiredness in this area though, hadn't anyone come out to see if this place was leaking or anything? It seemed something was seriously off with it; and it needed to be shut down. So far he hadn't felt anything but he was certain if they kept at it something would hit him as well.
"Damn it." He didn't like this, especially when something might also be out here. Summoning his weapon he held it at his side, but always ready, just incase.

"I don't know, I just..." Noctua's voice felt far away for a second before her brain caught up with her. It was a feeling that felt too familiar given how long she'd been able to sleep through a single night. She'd nearly forgotten how deeply unpleasant of a sensation it was. How had she just... lived like this? For almost a literal decade? God, no wonder Benitoite had always been so worried about her. No wonder everyone had been so worried about her. Now, she was worried about herself, suddenly very worried that whatever was happening in the area was causing her to relapse.
And she was just about to open her eyes to say as much. Just about to reassure her general that she was fine, just dizzy and worried about the youmaglia, when something struck her. Or at least, that was what she surmised. One second she was pushing herself off of Benitoite's shoulder, and the next she was on her back, staring up at the darkening sky.
And then in the next, pain blossomed across the back of her shoulders where whatever struck her had landed it's blow.
The cry she gave was more from shock than pain at first. But then she twisted to get up, and the second cry was from the pain that blossomed across her shoulder blades. She hadn't even felt that thing coming at them. One second it was moving out of the corner of her eye and the next...
"Okay," she groaned, rolling onto her knees and searching the surroundings for where it had gone, seeing only broken branches and... sorry... was that tree exploded? "Okay, not a youma." Another groan as she got to her feet and twisted her limbs to check her back for blood. Thankfully there was none, but the back of her fuku was shredded.
"You didn't happen to get a good look at that thing, did you?"

I figure we can both control the creature?

While Noctua had felt like this for ages, far too long for a normal person, Benitoite had never felt dizzy like he was starting to feel. Fingers pressed into his temples as he held onto the corrupt senshi, trying to relieve some of the dizziness he was feeling. It didn't seem to be working, even with his eyes closed, so when he did open his eyes it was to a sight he had not been expecting to be true.
The creature towering over them was bear like in nature but something else was there...it didn't seem like anything he'd ever seen ebfore. Before he could do, or say, anything ti was bringing a paw down at the corrupt and sending her flying to the ground. "Noctua!" Shouting at her the General was turning on the bear like creature as he summoned his weapon. Putting some needed distance between himself and the bear, so he could swing his weapon, the General kept his eyes on both Noctua and the bear.
"Easy Noctua, you got hit hard." And he was keeping himself between the bear and her as she tried to get up. "I'll have Arseno see you after this." Blinking his eyes slowly, trying to center himself, the blond swung out with his weapon as the bear like creature got too close. The weight behind his weapon, and it being swung, had him off balancing and quickly trying to correct himself before he fell over. "Damn it. How has no one checked this place for radiation levels?" As if that might be the issue and somehow the city was slowly be poisioned.

The fact that Benitoite was obviously feeling as effected as Noctua was made her feel the tiniest better, but her eye lids were so heavy and it was so hard to concentrate and her center of balance was so far gone... maintaining a hold on her emotional state was just not going to happen. Not when her brain was zapping whenever she moved her eyes and the world kept spinning beneath her. She clung to her general for a moment before she forced herself to stand on her own, head beginning to ache with dizziness. She nodded in agreement with his order to see Arseno after this only because she was too compromised to fight it.
She did, however, argue gently, "no blood, no worries, then?" If only to add some levity to the situation. If only to try and drag her feet back under her. If only to try and shove the panic down into her guts so that she could get them both out of there and deal with whatever was stalking them.
And it was, in fact, stalking them. Noctua could hear it prowling just off to the side. Twigs breaking and detritus crunching underfoot. Around them, just out of sight, which sent a chill down Noctua spine because it demonstrated a sense of... intelligence. It kept itself safely tucked away from them, hidden in the shadows. Hidden away from her general's weapon and his magic...
But not hers.
All she needed was one flash of one eye. The reflection of the meager moonlight...
There.
"Noctua Sleepless Nights," she hissed, casting a finger in the direction of the creature to alert Benitoite as she did to incapacitate the creature.
Noctua Sleepless Nights Noctua closes her eyes and calls the name of her attack. Upon opening them, she will lock eyes with one person for five seconds and they will be subject to the attack. For the next ten seconds the victim will feel like they haven't slept at all for the past few nights. They will be victim to the more physical symptoms of insomnia, like tension headaches, nausea, and dizzyness. Noctua can preform this attack twice or once with enough energy left Noctua Feverish Nights
Note: Noctua no longer needs both eyes functioning on either end to make the attack work, however, if eye contact is broken within five seconds on either end, the attack fails. If the environment is too dark to see anyone's eyes, the attack also fails.

"No blood no worries doesn't always apply." He knew she had no problem throwing herself into a fight, even ones she shouldn't be involved in, and that she could take the hits but that didn't mena he wanted her to. He trusted her in a fight but wasn't about to sacrifice her or let her become too injured. It was his place to hold the line, not her, and for hi mto keep her safe. It wasn't due to rank but power, as well as his obligatio nto keep those under him safe.
He could hear the creature moving, could hear it waiting for the right time get at them and kill them or what have you. This wasn't good, not really, he couldn't see it and it was fast. It wasn't stupid either, which would have been a big plus for them if it were stupid.
As soon as Noctua hit it with her magic he went after it, as best he could all things considered, and nearly toppled over twice in the process. "I doubt I'll make it but it'll likely take off." Which would leave them both free to do the same.

And flee the creature did. Noctua had half hoped that it would take the feeling of fatigue and sick spinning but... alas... it did not. Which, of course, brought a new wave of panic washing over Noctua because what if... what if... Which each sinking spiral of what if Noctua could feel more and more sickening waves of panic wash over her. Her body felt like it was floating, suspended over the tilting earth. Her thoughts were fuzzy and hard to track. Somewhere in the back of her mind, she remembered Benitoite saying something about radiation, but it was too far away.
"General," she ground out through clenched teeth as she tried to stay on her feet. "General we need to leave. We need to... write a report... we need to..."
And that was all she got out before she lost her grip on awareness.

Letting his weapon vanish, since the bear like creature was gone, Benitoite managed to make his way back to the corrupt senshi's side and reached for her. The spinning and lighthehaded feeling wasn't easing, it was if anything getting worse. This was also making him sick to his stomach, not a good idea, he felt like his dinner might come up. This wasn't good.
Groaning softly, a pitiful sound really, he kept a hold on her as he tried to focus his thoughts enough. He didn't want to mess up teleporting, though he wasn't sure if anything bad would happen to them, he was hoping to get them out of here just like Noctua was asking.
"Yeah, I'll get us out." Groaning again he pulled her tight to his own small frame and focused on an alleyway a few blocks from here. He should be able to manage that, right? It didn't seem too far away.
