The Fireflies (6) : In the warm summer nights, little glowing lights begin to bob and dart through the city. Fireflies are mating, so this isn't uncommon in itself; in the past few days you've probably seen hundreds of fireflies. What makes these lights so unique is that they seem to change color; you might see a blue one, a green one, a red one. They flicker randomly, and something just seems off with them. If you come into contact with one, you will find yourself with a strange electric jolt. They cannot be caught, and will flicker away if you pursue too aggressively. This isn’t the first time they’ve appeared in Destiny City, but no one’s been able to tell where they came from or where they’re going. No matter how quickly you chase them, they always seem to disappear before you can find any answers.
Tonight was one of those warm summer nights. The sky was filled with stars, and the air was filled with the sound of crickets chirping. There was a peaceful calm in the air that made it the perfect night for a stroll. Bellalunae was out for her nightly walk, the cool breeze blowing through her black fur. The stars twinkled in the sky, and the sound of crickets filled the night air. The warm summer breeze was a welcome relief, and the peaceful atmosphere was a reminder of how beautiful nature can be. Bellalunae enjoyed the feeling of the cool wind in her fur as she strolled through the night. Not only that but it was helping to clear her mind even just for a moment.
She walked slowly, taking in the sights and sounds around her. She stopped to look up at the stars but just as she did she noticed some lights flying around her. "What on earth..." she said aloud as she moved a bit closer to get a look. She couldn't believe what she was seeing. The lights seemed to be weaving in and out in a pattern, almost like they were dancing.

Coco saw the lights just as they had been last year she didn't really remember if they were anything harmful, so she watched them carefully anyway just in case. Things in Destiny city were hard to keep track of or to guess what they would do next. She shook her head and laughed to herself thinking of all the things she had done and faced already it was crazy really. She did however want to help others so she was still learning and growing as she went along. She watched the pretty fireflies blink and glow. She figured it was best not to touch them just in case.
Bellalunae watched the lights dance back and forth. Then her kitten instinct took over and she reached out with her paws to grab one. Just as her paw connected to the light she felt a strange electric jolt. She was startled and jumped backwards. Instead of landing on her paws she ended up rolling onto her back. Not only that but the light was still attached to her paw. She shook her paw as hard as she could and tried to get the light off her paw. Luckily the light decided to fall off, but not before her whole tumble.
As she was shaking herself off she realized she wasn't alone in this flying light filled area. She noticed another Mauvian, one that she recognized from somewhere. "Hey there! do you know what these lights are? Are they a trap?" she asked. At this point she didn't mind what side they were on. She just wanted to know what these things were that attacked her paw.

Coco shook her head and said "No I don't know if they are a trap." She laughed and said "Last I saw them I ended up talking to the other guardian cat instead of actually doing anything with the fireflies, but in this city it is often better safe than sorry." She said firmly. She watched the firefly fly away since she knew they couldn't be caught. "Just don't touch them and they will leave you alone, I am Coco and who might you be?" She asked in a curious tone. Coco had some splatters of paint on her calico fur.
Bellalunae slowly got up and dusted off her black fur. It was good to hear these things would leave her be for now, though the urge to swat at them with her paws. She would definitely have to put that urge to bed for a bit.
The fact she didn't know if it was a trap or not did bother her, but maybe she could research that later. "You are right about that sometimes this city it can be. I'll try to not swat at them again thats for sure," she said calmly as she looked over the calico furred cat. When she noticed the paint she remembered exactly where she met this cat. The alley, she was the one she had left that art bag for.
"I'm Bellalunae by the way! Nice to meet you again. I believe we met in alley-way, I ran into a hotel and got you a bag full of art supplies. But you were gone when I got back. I left them there though, so I hope you were able to come back and grab them." She spoke understanding if she didn't remember it was okay. It was a short meeting after all. It was crazy to her that they were meeting again, especially at a time like this.

Coco smiled she was glad they weren't a foolish guardian, she had forgotten they had met before. She nodded and said "Yes it is." She sighed and shook her head "It can get tiring at times but it is my city." She paused and then she remember "Oh it's you, I had forgotten about that meeting, I'm Coco if you had forgotten." She smiled and then said "I can be like that at times, I've been on my own a long time so I don't make friends easily."
Bellalunae realized that she might be being a little too nice, but she really didn't mind. As far as the nega were concerned, what would they do about it? Nothing. No one ever seemed to really care what she did, and honestly it would be nice to make some Mauvian friends. Either side was fine with her.
As she listened to her mention this being her city she was surprised. She had never heard anyone call it that before. Maybe it was a different type of Mauvian thing. It seemed like an odd way to refer to it, but there was something. To her this town meant nothing more than a place where she could sleep, and it housed her family but nothing more.
"I will say that being a Mauvian can be tiring in itself, and well nice to meet you again Coco. Glad you remembered - if you ever need more supplies I've got a hookup," she said kindly. It was pleasant to be remembered and she knew Sabrina wouldn't mind. She had plenty of supplies and was always bringing home more.
"Well I can understand that. I mean being a black cat, I get more fear than smiles sometimes. So friends aren't always simple for me either. But if you'd like you've always got a friend in me." She said with a smile, hoping Coco new that she was serious. Just because she might be on a different side, to her that didn't matter. Friends were friends regardless of where they stood. At least that's how she felt after meeting all these order-side members.

Coco smiled and nodded "Thank you, perhaps I need to team up with a knight or senshi so I can have an actual home to keep paints and such in.. I was thinking of Lacille or Oia but perhaps a younger senshi would be a better choice, I just don't know." She said with a sigh "How did you decide who to live with?" She asked the other cat. Coco rubbed her shoulder to her friends and then said "Yes I consider you a friend, you have been very kind to me." She said warmly. "They are really beautiful. As long as you don't touch them." She said looking at the fireflies that glowed in so many different colors. She loved this festival it was so colorful and lovely. "So what are you going to do next here at the festival?" She asked curiously. She was thinking of going to the wishing tree to make a wish or perhaps to visit the mysterious merchant. She had a lot of things she wanted to do this festival.
Bellalunae wondered about that concept of teaming up with someone. It seemed like a worthwhile idea, but for now she was content in her host hotel. All the free food, comfy beds, and computers to type on.
"I will say you always have another option too. You could do what I do. I live as a house cat, and my people don't mind if I come or go. It's nice I still can keep my freedom, but also get free room and board," she said smiling at the thought that her a street cat. Somehow she found a place in a family hotel like that. It was ironic for her. "I will say though, I didn't really decide. I met a little girl who decided for me. She wouldn't take no for an answer," she remembered that night and laughed, "Sometimes I think you find your home in the weirdest ways."
Bellalunae smiled at the word friend, "Well good 'cause I consider you a friend too. They are pretty. I'll remember not to touch them." She definitely wouldn't forget that after that shock.
"As for my next stop, I'll go to the merchant if I can. He seems interesting. What's next for you?" she asked curiously. She wanted to do many things at the festival this year. Since last year she was a bit lazy and didn't participate much since the hotel had an all she could eat buffet.

Coco shook her head "I think we talked about this before I still don't like the idea of having to pretend to be a normal cat all the time, that would be so weird." She smiled "That was lucky for you." She said warmly. She shrugged her shoulders and then said "Perhaps I'll go there later, right now I don't know what I want to do next, we will have to wait and see." She said with a nod. "I will see you later." She said waving her paw, "It was nice seeing you again."
She knew her life wasn't for everyone, and that didn't bother her. Since part of her knew that maybe she wasn't pretending as much as people thought she was.
The family she stayed with was the first time in a long time she had felt safe and home. She knew she had a duty to help the negaverse, but that didn't mean she couldn't live another life too. A life where she didn't have to always fend for herself.
She smiled and Bellalunae waved goodbye to her friend. She was thrilled she had gotten to see her friend again and she figured this probably wouldn't be the last time. At least she hoped anyways, as she headed off to the next event on her list. One without zapping fireflies.
