Hummed to herself as the boat docked on Belrea; it was her first time travelling away from Matori and she was both excited and nervous at the same time, but she managed to get across the ocean from a place of familiarity to place new and exciting and she was eager to see who she would meet and discover, perhaps she would make a new friend in a progress. For most of her life she was comfortable at Matori but now that she was a bit older she wanted to see what other islands there were outside her home.
So here she was docking at the port of Belrea, she grabbed her stuff before disembarking and looking around at the new environment. She tapped her chin lightly with a finger and looked around "Hmm..where to start" she said to herself.

The tall and willowy Kahikinan stood well above the earthlings of Belrea. Though she wasn't tall as many Kaha'iko, compared to the earthlings she all but towered over them like a monster. Thankfully she was well used to interacting with others outside of her own people, and she herself was comfortable enough to strike a conversation. That and she learned early on that being seated helped with the anxiety others faced looking up at her smiling face.
Today, she took a break from her writing and interviewing to just enjoy the sights. And one such sight was the food market on near the port. Everyone always gushed at how fresh the fish were there, and she herself enjoyed such meals from time to time. Humming to herself, she made way to grab an early bite to eat and people watch, an enjoyable pass time whenever she had the chance.

After a bit of thinking for a few extra seconds she adjusted her pack and looked around the port before deciding to perhaps grab something to eat. She had eaten breakfast just before she boarded the ship from Matori to Belrea. Through the grapevine and word of mouth she had heard there were some highly recommended places to visit and one such mention was a food market.
As she strode down the port towards the center of the island she hummed to herself; her blue eyes scanning around for said food market. After a bit of searching and walking she found it and made her way to look for something to eat she was a little peckish.

As she apporoached one of the vendors, Irirangi took a graceful seat, flipping her ponytail behind her and adjusting her position so she was looking out toward the dock. A new ship had arrived which meant she could see all the colorful cast of characters that would be joining the island. Maybe she could find someone new to interview, to learn about their stories.
After a few minutes, her order of seared fish arrived, and she nodded in thanks. The food here was always so smokey and savory, which was interesting compared to the lean and light food she had back at home.

Now that she was closer to the food market she strolled through looking at the vendors, the question was did she want to eat something that she was familiar with or something that was different. She stopped for a fee seconds and tapped her chin thoughtfully, perhaps it was better to try something familiar first and then progress to something new. She walked to one of the vendors that was cooking up some fish and put in her order.
She looked around to see if there was anywhere to sit. It seemed like this food market was busy, she then spotted a empty seat across from another Kahi and she made her way over “mind if I sit here?” She asked politely.

Irirangi wasn't surprised to be asked if someone minded joining her, instead she simply leaned back and nodded.
"Of course!" As she watched Ha'ulili sit down, she examined her closely for a few seconds.
"Let me guess...Menehune and Moakai?" She leaned forward and asked after a long moment, "Pretty obvious question, I know."

Ha’ulili sat down across from the other “much appreciated” she said to the other putting her belongings to the side so there was space in front of her for when her food arrived. In meantime she took a few moments to look over the other.
She nodded her head “that is correct” she said, was it that obvious to others. She shrugged it off a bit “that would be the first time I’ve met anyone who could tell right off the bat”

She leaned back with a smirk at the fact she guessed it, "Well I must admit, I've got an eye for such things." She said, pleased.
But then she relaxed and just smiled brightly, "It also helps that I'm from Kahikina. And have traveled enough to recognize the traits. I'm sure many of the earthlings here can't tell you're a hybrid."

Irirangi was used to hearing other's stories, and rarely got asked about her own. So when Ha'ulili asked, she tilted her head a moment and peered closely at the younger woman before her.
"My name is Irirangi." She replied in a friendly tone, "...I'm usually the one who listens to the stories, but maybe I have a few of my own..." She paused a moment to think, letting the girl begin to eat her meal before speaking up.
"I met someone from Yael who claims to have seen a creature that lives in a mountain of fire. It is covered in scales and swims around like it was made of fire. Every so often to comes up and explodes out of the ground, causing fire to rain down."

“Nice to meet you Irirangi” she said politely before starting to eat her meal but also listening intently as she spoke.
“That sounds so fascinating and interesting” she said before thinking thoughtfully about it “ can’t say i’ve hear that story before” she said or she couldn’t recall if that story was told when she was younger. She would need to ask her family about it.

She nodded at the response, "Understandable. Yael is pretty new territory for most people in Tendaji. Apparently they discovered it only a few years before Belrea. Then Kahikina. The world only just opened up, which means theres a lot of stories still to be told."
She leaned back, before her eyes narrowed in curiosity.
"What's your story, Ha'ulili?"

She hummed thoughtfully at the question she asked “I’m from Matori where i live with my family; have 3 other siblings and I am a aunt of two girls that are roughly close in age to me” she said.
“I don’t exactly have my ducks in a row as some would say; and I was curious as to what other islands there are besides Matori” she finished and leaned back looking at Irirangi “your turn, what is your story?”

Irirangi tried to hide her disappointment. Honestly she was hoping for something more, especially from a hybrid. But, Ha'ulili was young so her story was yet to be written it seemed. Brushing her hair behind her ear, she nodded and leaned back again, but not before taking a sip of her water.
"I'm a traveling author. I don't have much of a story to tell because I'm more focused on telling other's stories. I could tell a million stories I've got in my notebook, but nothing much on my end. I live vicariously through those around me."

She moved her food around on her plate “i haven’t travelled much outside of Matori because i was always afraid to especially on my own” she admitted and then looked at Irirangi “I’m still unsure about what I want to do with my life nor do i know what life has in store for me” she said.
She nodded her head attentively as Irirangi spoke about her story “i envy you; at least you have some idea of what you want to do with your life” she said as some would put it Irirangi had her ducks in a row more or less.
