Prompt 3: The most severe rainy days are now behind us, YAY! However, the weeds in the garden/yard have become overgrown, seems like it's time to roll up those sleeves, grab some gardening gloves and add some color to liven things up. What new plants do you add to the flower bed or do you have anything but a green thumb where plants just won't thrive?

Autumn loved helping out at the community gardens on the university campus. She always had—it was just something that brought her joy, the simple physical labor that came from trimming plants down, planting more, removing weeds.

Of course, knowing know that she was the senshi of agriculture brought a new perspective to that whole thing. It was kinda cool, thinking about an intrinsic part of yourself as magical like that. Gardening wasn't a hobby she kept up all that much, but growing your own food was pretty nice, and helping out poorer students this way brought her the same kind of joy that her constant bake sales for charity did.

"Hey Kirika!" she called out to her friend entering the storage house. "Wanna help me haul this bag of fresh soil out? I couldn't find any of the dolly-thingies."

It was only recently that Kirika had started working at DCU's community garden. It wasn't her usual type of hobby, but her mother had encouraged her to do more things outside, with other people, rather than holed up online. Also, she wanted to get better, so that she could better tend to her world. The more it came alive, the more she wanted to encourage it. Wanted to see those beautiful blossoms continue to bloom, wanted to see those twilight grasses grow...her world was a wonderful, magical place, and she wanted to keep it that way. And help it get better.

All important things to her, and all very good reasons to want to help out.

There was also the sense of connection, and the friendships she was starting to forge, which were nice. And also felt a little more grounding.

"Autumn!" She lit up, as soon as she stepped into the storage shed and saw her friend. "Of course, let's get that out." She laughed, a little. "Crazy weather we've had, hm? The garden looked like a total weedy mess. That'll be fun to dig out."

Autumn grinned even wider, lifting the bag with Kirika and starting the slow shuffle out to where she intended for it to be used. She gestured with little jerks of her chin as they moseyed along while chatting.

"Heck yeah! There's been so much rain! I haven't been able to do any of my planned bake sales," she said, disappointment coloring her tone. "It's been seriously frustrating, you know? I just want to do my charity work. And I had a bunch of stuff I had to just give away because I don't sell stuff that's more than a week old, so it was kind of a financial hit I didn't need to take."

She shook her head, placing the bag down next to the nastiest weed patch she'd been leading them to. "Ugh, sorry for being all negative, it's just, y'know, fresh on my mind."

Sharing the burden made the whole thing much easier. Kirika sighed as they hefted the bag out, and when they got it to where it needed to go, she let it drop.

"Honestly, I'm glad I'm an indoor girl," she said. "I can huddle up and play a game while it's raining. Sort of nice, honestly. But don't worry about it, you can feel free to vent." When she wasn't chasing down documents for her father, or looking after her sister, or doing a million other things that absorbed her time.

At least she'd ended up with a decent excuse to avoid powering up, which was probably for the best. Ever since that awful mess at the bank...ugh, Kirika didn't even want to think about it. It had ended well enough, certainly, with a new Princess and everyone safe and out of there, but the building had still burned, and she still wasn't entirely sure what had happened.

A sigh passed her lips as she looked down at the weedy patch in front of her. This would be hard.

Autumn giggled, pulling out two pairs of gloves and two trowels from the giant pockets on her overalls. She'd gotten a really cute pair from the Pride section at Target and loved the way they felt on her, plus, of course, the giant pockets that could totally hold a nintendo switch. Not that she had one, but that seemed to be a very important deciding factor in what size of pockets was actually a freaking good size, given women's clothing and the propensity to not give them good freaking pockets!

"Thank you," she said graciously. "I don't really like to complain, though, especially when we're doing something so positive! Once we can get fresh soil down, we can plant a new row of basil, since the other row didn't grow back this year. Someone already cleaned it out and put tomatoes down there instead and didn't pay attention to the signs already there—"

She cut herself off with a short sigh, realizing she'd started getting mildly irritated again. Come on, it's sunshine out, don't be mean, she told herself.

"I already swapped the signs around, so that's not a concern, at least," she finished, pulling the gloves on. She started to dig at the weeds with a soft hum, feeling good as the dirt came apart and the roots of the first weed came up.

Kirika knelt down, pulling on her gardening gloves and examining the bed of weeds before them. "Well, that just means we get to start it all over," she said, as positively as she could.

She wasn't exactly always the most cheerful person, certainly, but she could find the joy in this. Something simple, straightforward, easy. Pulling plants out of the ground in order to turn over the soil so they could plant something new.

This, she thought, sort of felt like what a Senshi was supposed to do. At least, now that their worlds were all empty. They needed to bring those worlds back to life, the same way that she and Autumn were bringing this pretty little plot of land back.

Maybe it was smaller. Maybe it was less magical. Maybe it was strange, for her to be so concerned about it. But it mattered to her, and it would matter to the people who were able to take from this garden when it bloomed. And that was making a difference.
